• Verified traveler (8/5): - Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cet établissement ! Du premier contact jusqu'à notre départ: l'entièreté de l'équipe a été aux petits soins avec nous. Nous avons eu 2 déconvenues, toutefois l'établissement a été reactif et très professionnel. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la propreté de la chambre (attention, l'absence de rideau de douche, inonde la salle de bains), le confort de la literie et surtout le petit-déjeuner. Nous ne manquerons pas de revenir pour notre prochaine visite à Cognac !

• Resort63925872557 (8/5): Very Convenient, Almost Amazing - Almost everything about the stay was great. The bed was very comfortable, but the layout with the television was awkward. The shower head was fantastic, but the stall needed a shelf for holding toiletries. The breakfast had a really nice variety, but the hot items were not really hot.

• Brigstoweone (6/5): Lovely hotel shame about the night porter - This is a really hard review to write because the actual hotel, the breakfast and most of the staff were excellent. The room was lovely and air conditioned which was a god send in the 30° plus heat. It was great value for money. I would have given it 5 out of 5 but for one person and that was the horrid, intimidating night porter. I know people often say that French people can be dismissive if you attempt to speak in French but I've never really found this and we've holidayed in France a great deal as my husband is fluent. On our first night at the hotel we didn't have any water in our room so after getting in from meeting friends for dinner and drinks I went downstairs to ask for some water. I asked in French and I know it's not perfect but I was going to give it a go but the rudeness I was greeted with was on another level. Not only was he rude but he was also intimidating and obviously quite liked the power of no one else being around, it being late at night and he obviously felt very much in control of the situation. He told me my French was appalling and that I shouldn't even try to speak to him because it was hideous to him. I was pretty shocked but asked for water in English and he was really annoyed and complaining that he had to go and get it for me. He did get it because I wasn't going to back down but the whole thing was really upsetting. Interestingly I was there for a wedding being held near by and my husband told the mother of the bride who said she'd had exactly the same experience from presumably the same man when she had stayed there for one night before going on to the wedding venue. She had tried to ask about the hotel being locked as her son was arriving late due to train cancellation. She is a French speaker so was horrified to be told that her French was awful and she shouldn't bother and to her questions not really being answered. I wonder if this nasty person would have done the same if we'd been men? I very much doubt it. Hotel Heritage you have a lovely hotel, your front of house day staff could not be more helpful, your breakfast was incredible and your rooms were lovely but what are you going to do about this really vile person who is discrediting your establishment? You have a duty of care to your customers not to be intimidated or humiliated by your staff.

La literie est de bonne qualité et les chambres sont très propres. Petit déjeuner copieux. Personnel à l'accueil compétent mais que personnellement, j'ai trouvé froid

• barrygm2025 (10/5): I struck lucky in Cognac - Chosen at random on the internet, I struck lucky with this choice of accommodation for a four day stay in Cognac. The hotel was both charming and extremely well situated in the centre of town. The staff were very welcoming and always keen to help and advise in any way possible. I will definitely return.

• Sammiji (10/5): Great stay, fantastic staff - Stayed here for a wedding along with many of the other guests. Stephanie was amazing throughout - very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. As were the other staff we encountered (the night manager in particular, who had to deal with a lot of drunken behaviour after the wedding events!). The rooms were nice, spacious, and clean. Breakfast was decent - good selection. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
• Ana (10/5): - The hotel was beautiful and the staff beyond helpful.. Location was perfect in a beautiful street close to the main square and walking distance to everything. But you must be aware that its a small city ad taxi service is limited... i had to walk to the hotel from the train station and also on my way back.. all the taxis.were fully booked.. 1.4 km not bad but.with a suitcase is not fun... this not the hotel's fault... but you must be aware (the same is i guess for all hotels)

• 403stuartb (10/5): What a lucky find! Spacious, light and airy, with a fabulous location and excellent staff - This was the perfect place for me to stay in Cognac. The hotel has a fantastic central position with a 2 min walk to a wide selection of bars and restaurants. It is on a shopping street and the majority of the Cognac visitors centres are within a beautiful 10 min walk. The staff were all very welcoming and spoke really excellent English. The hotel is a beautiful house, well adapted to give all the modern facilities you would expect. The overall feel is spacious, light and airy. It was clean in both the room and public areas. Despite the originality of the building everything feels as modern as you would want it to, for example my bathroom has a great low profile multi shower with glass doors, Just because the building retains some character and is tastefully decorated doesn’t mean missing out on the mod-cons we expect today. The Wi-Fi was fast enough to watch TV on a decent sized screen. The breakfast is excellent with cooked and continental both provided. I was intrigued the first night as they were setting up a charcoal fire pit for dinner service. Tables were highly booked but they found a table and I had a great dinner. The bar at the front is a pleasant location to wait for others or just watch the world go by. The bar and restaurant prices are the same as the other bars and restaurants around the corner. So with a great location, super building and excellent staff I would definitely book again. If you happen to be travelling by motorcycle, there is free safe parking 1 min walk.
• Susan2395 (10/5): A historic building beautifully updated and very well run - Very centrally located but absolutely quiet. The staff are delightful and the British receptionist leads a lovely team. The rooms have everything including black out curtains. The lovely outside space is covered with wisteria. We had a delightful dinner sitting beneath it on a warm evening, plateau de fruits de mer and veal tartare. The garlic aioli was home made and excellent. The waitresses dressed in denim jeans,house polo shirts and white trainers were very well trained and attentive.We followed dinner with a stroll down to a beautiful central circle for coffee and a cognac. Breakfast was a delight with an orange squeezer for fussy ones and a chilled carafe of juice for everyone with plenty of choice. We will certainly go back.

The parking lot situation was not explained clearly (free parking on the weekend) and we got a parking ticket on the Monday because we did not put money in the meter before 9:00 am. Otherwise it was a great stay! Alan was an amazing concierge!

• NemoTraveler (10/5): Enjoyable stay - We stayed two nights. The hotel is centrally located in an excellent pedestrian area with shops and restaurants. The owners have done a great job restoring the building with several beautiful details. Parking may be an issue and during our visit a festival was going on in Cognac. Most of the central part was closed so we could not drive to the hotel. We phoned the hotel and a friendly team member gave us good directions. We also got information about where to park and it all turned out very well. Our room was spacious, very clean and equipped with a/c, coffee maker and tv with several international channels. Breakfast was included in our rate and was very good. All the team members we encountered did a great job and we really enjoyed our stay here.

No hotel parking but good public parking nearly. Excellent and quiet location nearby cafes, brasseries and restaurants. Comfortable and well decorated rooms.

• likesqulityfood (8/5): Lovely old hotel in the centre of Cognac with modern rooms. - Old Hotel in the centre of Cognac with places to shop & eat within walking distance. Please note it has 3*’s now. It has a lovely informal atmosphere & l think that’s down to the staff who are very welcoming & friendly. It has modern rooms which were very clean. Very comfortable bed & pillows. Separate loo, good shower, over head & hand held. Air con, kettle etc. Lift for those who need it. Two slightly disappointing things tea - herbal & coffee - Nescafé sachets- in rooms. At breakfast only tiny Pain au chocolat, croissants etc which didn’t taste very fresh & some mornings the fresh coffee looked like it had been stewed & didn’t taste very nice. There was plenty of choice eggs; bacon,‘sausages’, cold meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurts, breads, jams etc. l would certainly recommend it if anyone asked.

Par contre,je trouve que les prestations du petit déjeuner sont excessives financièrement et mériterait au vue du prix proposé plus de choix de qualité (pains spéciaux, brioches,par exemple).

• joyceclemie (8/5): Why is this hotel only rated as 2 stars? - I am not sure why this hotel is graded only as 2 stars. Certainly our room was upgraded on arrival but the hotel is much better than some 3 stars in which we have stayed. The facade is old and beautiful and the interior has been remodelled to a high standard. All the staff were excellent, especially the waiter who worked in the breakfast room this morning (25th) and whoever is responsible for cleaning the rooms. Our room was spotless. A very comfortable bed. My only suggestion would be to improve what was a good breakfast, for example a selection of cheeses, a greater selection of fresh fruit and more plates and cutlery to hand. Finally the hotel is well situated in a pedestrian street with a lovely square nearby. We enjoyed our stay.

Hôtel parfait pour un séjour touristique à Cognac ou un séjour en amoureux. Idéalement situé par rapport aux restaurants : celui de l'hôtel et ceux aux alentours. Je recommande à 100%

• Deborah (10/5): Fab Belle Epoch hotel - We loved this hotel. If you really want to feel you are in France, this Belle Epoch hotel is for you. We arrived St Malo at 08.15 and driving very steadily arrived Cognac about four. Paid one hour parking right behind the hotel as only pay to five and then after nine. We had a lovely walk around Cognac, a drink in the bar and a simple but good meal. Breakfast was equally good. Staff throughout were friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay, good breakfast, great location! - We were happy with our stay here. This is not a fancy hotel, but a great location and good value for the money. Our recently renovated room was not spacious, but was very comfortable, with a good shower and separate toilet room. We appreciate the challenges of updating an old building while retaining its charm, and enjoyed sitting in the courtyard in the afternoon. Parking was just down the street - a combination of free parking overnight and paying during the day. Breakfast was good; I'm sure it is even better without COVID restrictions. The only issues were minor - it would be helpful if all the front desk staff were able to explain local parking, and if water for tea and boiling eggs were hot when breakfast started. Easily remedied. Staff were friendly. They appear to have new management working on improvements; we will be happy to return on our next visit to Cognac.

• Anke (8/5): Charmantes Hotel mitten in Cognac - Sehr charmantes Hotel in historischem Gebäude mitten in Cognac, Lage ist top, alles fußläufig zu erreichen Öffentlicher und schattiger Parkplatz für wenig Geld in der Nähe der Empfang war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, Zimmer ausreichend groß für eine Nacht und einigermaßen ruhig, aber schon ziemlich abgewohnt und in die Jahre gekommen. Tolles Restaurant mit sehr leckerem Essen im Hotel, allerdings mit wenig motiviert wirkendem Servicepersonal

The room dude have some funny electrical stuff going on but other than that was clean and comfortable. You will have to walk a bit with your luggage to the front entrance from the alley , so might not be suitable for disabled individuals. Parking is a short <5 minute walk away. This place was great for the price, breakfast was delicious, would stay here again.

In room climate control was quiet and effective adding comfort to our stay. Walls are a little thin. Didn't have breakfast, ww walked to covered market which was a nice surprise.
