Guest Reviews
- Miranda (1/5): -
- Eleonora (1/5): Unacceptable behaviour from the owner - Although my check-in at 3:00 PM was confirmed, nobody was there when I arrived and the provided contact numbers did not work (I only received an answer about 2.5 hours later). I waited outside for around an hour before a guest finally let me in. I was also asked to pay an 80 pesos tax in cash that was never mentioned on Booking.com.
The main issue, however, was the behavior of the owner. I asked whether it would be possible to adjust just one of the air conditioning units (the one next to my bed only, not all of them) due to health concerns. The owner reacted very aggressively, told me “you are the problem,” and that I have to leave - it was 10:30 PM. When I explained that I had already paid and had nowhere else to go, he said he did not care and that I should ask Booking.com for a refund, despite knowing the reservation was non-refundable and that Booking would direct me back to the property. When I pointed this out, he threatened to report me for my “behavior”. I was shocked and tried to end the discussion by saying I just wanted to sleep and leave things as they were, but he continued picking on me until another guest intervened and he finally left me alone. The guest later told me she had experienced similar problems herself simply for asking another question. I also noticed other reviews mentioning similar situations. I booked 2 nights but left after one as I did not want to meet the owner again, I felt uncomfortable and unsafe.
I have been travelling for +15 years in hostels and rarely left bad reviews and never found myself in a situation like this. Before booking please think if you want to support this rude, threatening, and unprofessional treatment of guests.

- Husaina (1/5): Owner is an unpleasant man - I arrived at 9pm. There was no one at the reception so I knocked until someone from the hostel opened for me. I messaged the owner on whatsapp regarding check in and we coordinated a booking.com check in. Then he came in to collect 80 pesos additional on top of the booking.com fee and charges. I asked him what the additional money was for. He did not like that I questioned him. He said he had already messaged me about the 80 pesos. I asked him again what it was for and he said it's local tax. I told him I had paid taxes on booking already and this is when he started threatening me to kick me out. Around 10-10.30pm, threatening a woman to leave and find another place for simply asking him WHAT the tax is for, is absolutely unacceptable. The next day, in front of me, he did the same to another woman when she asked for the AC to be adjusted. The guy is in over his head, aggressive, and this killed my mood from day 1 in Cozumel. It contributed to me leaving earlier than I'd have wanted to. The property itself is nice, clean, and fully equipped. I stayed there for 4 nights and even worked from the terrace area. Other than the owner, everything is very pleasant. Pick your battle wisely :)

- Markus (7/5): - Sauber. Ungemütlich, kein Sozialbereich.
- Phillip (1/5): I did not stay becasue I never got checked in - Worst hostel experience EVER! Don't stay. here! I was approved. to check in between 1-2 pm. Upon arrival, the door was locked, and no one was inside. There was a WhatsApp number left on a door sign. I called, and no one answered. It was hot, and I was tired and ready to rest. Instead, I had to find a local cafe to wait for three hours until the owner answered his WhatsApp. He told me my check-in time wasn't until 3 pm, when I had an official confirmation that he had approved 1 -2. He also told me that on weekends, they have self-check-in. There was nothing on my confirmation that told me I had to self-check in, nor a door code to enter. He told me he would come to check me in. I waited, and he never showed up. I emailed him to see if he was coming, and he told me he was not coming. So I asked him for a full refund to cancel. He refused my full refund cancellation and gave me an 80-peso cancellation and told me I had to talk to Booking for approval of a full refund. That's bull shit. This is obviously an owner who doesn't care about his business or his customers. When you see an empty hostel on a busy weekend, with no customers inside, you know something isn't right. Check-In
- Fadil (1/5): - Location No Ac in room as advertised! Mosquitoes ! Kitchen not equipped basic stuff forks hot cups pans so old ! No remote for TV
- MARTIN (10/5): -

- Andrea (10/5): Choose this hostel ! It’s wonderful! - Natalia and Liz were wonderful and so very helpful! Loved every bit of our stay
- Thomas (6/5): - i had the place by myself :D a really weird place! when i arrived there nobody was there! all was empty, no stuff, no guests and the door was wide open. didnt meet any stuff at all at my 2 day stay.
so i just chose a bed i liked.
otherwise all is open, means the 4 bed dorm room is alsp connected to the big shared room.
- Kling (3/5): - The hostel is close to the ferry, thats good. The woman from the reception was super nice and helped with everything. The rooms are very small and the first night I was alone with another girl in the hostel. The interior is pretty old and it more feels like beeing in jail because it is so small.
There was no social life there.
- Rigo (7/5): -
- Gabriël (1/5): Airco only on at 22:00!!!!!!! omg - I booked this hostel just for the location. I didnt have high hopes when i booked it because of the mediocre rating but now
i understand why. One of the worst stays I’ve had in Mexico. The room was filthy—dead cockroach next to my bed and a disgusting, dirty floor. The heat was unbearable, with zero air circulation. The air conditioning only put on at 10 PM, and when I asked to have it on earlier, the owner flat-out refused, claiming it was bad for the power bill. His response? 'You’re in the tropics, by the way.' It’s clear he’s more interested in saving a few bucks than providing any kind of comfort or care for his guests. This kind of greed will be the downfall of this hostel. A lot of people complained in the reviews but he doesnt care..I booked two nights but left after just one—I couldn’t sleep at all, drenched in sweat and attacked by mosquitos. Avoid this place if you value even basic hospitality..
- Jofre (6/5): -
- Constance Emmanuelle (10/5): - The receptionist was really kind and gave us plenty of tips about Cozumel. She also arranged a scooter rental for us, which was really convenient. The place was very clean and there was AC.
- Thiago (4/5): - A localização é boa.
- Rachel (6/5): Close to the beach - Close to the beach. The staff are very friendly and the hostel was cheap There is no kitchen area that isn't outside, and it is very hot in the room when the aircon isn't on as it turns on at 9pm. There is also no area to get dressed that isn't the shower that is semi private. There is nowhere to put own food in kitchen on shelves
- Joyce (6/5): Alright but wouldn’t go back - Location is great. The staff were super helpful. Reception not 24 hrs but late enough (11pm) to be good if you’re getting into the city late.
Bed and cleanliness were passable for a night. The kitchen is a joke, there’s not even a kettle for hot drinks. Two toilets were out of order. The bed sheets were stained and the bed was in a cubby hole in the hallway with 18 other beds. The other option was a bed in a dorm room but there’s no aircon there and relies on the cold air seeping through a gap from the hallway into the room.
They also charge 150 for luggage storage for a few hours which is ridiculous.
- Cindyob (10/5): Exceptional - I would definetely return here. The location is convenient and the bed with its privacy shade was spacious and comfortable. You can lock your things underneath. They have a kitchen and courtyard inside. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly. Check in was easy. It exceeds expectations for a hostel. They also have four bed dorms with bunk beds, so there is a difference if you want the privacy shade.
- Charleston (1/5): Bad -
- Brooke (7/5): Good -
- Dioné (7/5): Nice place for a few nights - Good place to overnight for a few nights. I stayed in the single bed option which is a tiny room with the bed and a place for your bag. There is a blind to close you off from the corridor. The showers were great and hot. The kitchen is ok just dishes are lacking, there's only plastic bowls. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's about 3.5 blocks from the port with restaurant's close by. No ceramic plates or bowls in the kitchen. The dorm rooms are open to the corridor so it's noisy if travellers are inconsiderate.
- Brooke (8/5): Very good -
- Vlad (9/5): Superb - Nice clean and spacious. Had a queen bed. Plenty of privacy with the roll up curtain. Location is cool, right on the sea wall and close to the center(about 10 min walk) stuff is friendly and happy to accommodate.
- Alex (3/5): Cheap with a taste of poor management - Good location Poor customer service when arriving early, I understand early check in isn’t required but general politeness and customer service should be a basic. Being told they would not provide us with the wifi code and they wouldn’t usually allow us to use the toilet as we hadn’t checked in yet seemed ridiculous.
- Ramon (8/5): Very good - Big beds
- Miguel (7/5): Good place - The location They charge for towels.
- Joanne (1/5): I’m at the end of a 6mth trip from Costa Rica to Mx on local transportation and staying in hostels. This is the worst ho - The location. The hidden costs and the staff attitude. If you arrived early you had to pay to leave your bag before 3pm check in.
There are signs up if you make a mess you have to pay.
I was cold. The AC was on. I asked for a blanket or an extra sheet and was told I would have to pay. Not a deposit. Actually pay extra for a blanket because I can’t sleep because I’m cold!
There is no where comfortable to sit. The outdoor chairs are hard plastic, dirty and the tables covered with micro ants. They never got cleaned during my stay, apart from the one I cleaned.
The other seating area is in the lobby. The sofas are wicker and very uncomfortable as are the 2 x metal chairs.
They play the same pop music all day long. On a loop. It’s loud especially when it’s lady gaga first thing in the mornings.
Plastic plates so worn that some of them have holes in them & plastic cups urgh.
I was leaving and catching the 7.30 ferry. I got up early. At 6.45 I went to make a coffee and the kitchen was locked. Apparently it stays locked until at 7am. I asked at the desk to open it and at first the lady refused.
I objected as I really needed a coffee.
She did then open it. Told me I had 2 x minutes & then re locked it. To re open it 10mins later for the day.
In general from the staff there was an overall bad attitude atmosphere about the guests
- Brandon (7/5): Decent place all in all, but with things they could improve on. - Decent facilities such as kitchen and bathrooms, good value for money compared to many other places, very good location, and friendly staff. A lot of hidden costs, such as paying to store your luggage before and after checking in/out along with many others. Crazy loud high energy music at 9am, which woke me up, moldy curtains.
- Gellert (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was very friendly and nice! Everywhere you look, you will find passive aggressive messages about keeping everything clean, do not break anything, do not do this and that because they will fine you 150pesos.... It's understandable, but it's disturbingly full of threatening messages, it's highly enough to write ONE message and everyone will understand it.
In addition, white mold can be found everywhere in wet, humid areas, especially in shared showers, bathrooms.
All in all, arrangement of bed space is very fair for this affordable price. But cleanliness and tone of messages is not a question of price.
- Loid (7/5): Good -
- Ievgeniia (5/5): Passable - It’s a good location Look better on pictures
It’s not that clean
- David (4/5): Disappointing -
- Luciana (10/5): - Clean, great location and friendly staff
- Omar (9/5): It was a good experience - The location and price Nothing
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Would recommend - Friendly and helpful staff couldn't do enough. Lovely hot shower. Nice private pods with plenty of room for bags and lockers too. WiFi throughout. Good location for town and ferry. A few toilets out of service if it had been busier it might have been annoying
- Giulia (9/5): Nice stay - Not more than one night . Too small.
No hostel vibe.
- Pierre (4/5): Not a gently place - The place is well situated in the centre of cozumel near the ferry station . I arrived at 11h30am for a checking at 15pm, i just want to rest until 15pm or leave my bag. the receptionists just told me to leave my bag just 3hours I have to pay and in anyway to leave and come back at 15pm
My bed was not really clean by the way
This place is made for profit and people are not gently. This is not hostel spirit
- Dan (4/5): Noisy and stressful - The location is great (5-10 mins walk along the waterfront from the ferry port). The shower rooms and toilets were kept pretty clean and are large and comfortable - each shower room has shelving/hooks to put your clothes (although most of the time the hot water seemed non-existent). I never used the kitchen or outside area so can’t comment. The staff were friendly and polite The sleeping situation is unfortunately pretty awful; the hostel is basically a large corridor with about 30 capsule-style beds running along the side - each large and spacious with its own blind for privacy - but the problem with this is as you are hidden from view, other guests don’t seem to think or care about noise and even with ear plugs in the noise is constant from people coming back at night, having loud conversations across the space, slamming the doors to the private rooms (which are basically just cubicles with no real walls) which run along the other side - and the place wasn’t even half full, so at capacity this would be beyond hellish. I didn’t stay for the final night I booked and paid for, and moved to another place to get some peace. Air con is only turned on at night, and they blast music in the building from 9am. The extra charges here are also ridiculous - you have to pay about 10 USD just to leave bags after checkout or even use the bathroom, and when you check in there are extra taxes and charges that you aren’t clearly informed about on booking. Weird atmosphere, not social at all, and the manager/owner wasn’t too friendly (evidenced by the defensive replies to all negative reviews here…)
- Sandra (9/5): Superb -
- Sofia (5/5): Dirty kitchen bathroom . If you clean it once a month would not be this way! - Location Decoration style Wi-Fi
- Kai (8/5): Very good -
- Yen (7/5): Good - It was a clean hostel. Bathroom was all the time clean. You got your own space in the hostel with a curtain to have your own privacy. Close to the harbour. Not a very social hostel but that is fine.
- Sandra (10/5): Wonderful - Location I wanted to show my friend but was not allowed to
It would be nice to have water available to refill reusable bottles
- Chana (5/5): The price is low and you get what you pay for. - The location is great. There is no air conditioning in the little pods. You must rent a fan. And the “private rooms” are not really rooms, they are cubicles.
- Eli (1/5): Bad - Staff is extemely unfriendly and not helpfull at all.
Booked it because it says it has a kitchen, but there are no knifes, ni butter/oil/.., everything is very dirty, so basically, the kitchen is not useful at all.
I found more then 20 long black hairs in my bed, changing beds was not an option for them.
It was basically a very strange and unwelcoming vibe.
Unpleasant stay!
- Gil (1/5): Horrible!!!! - Nothing Many things. It was super cold inside, we asked the reception if we can have more blankets cause we only got a thin sheet, and they told as to pay for it (NOT deposit). We slept in the hallway, my friend slept in the 4 dorms but it is basically connected cause the ceiling is open so it's a 40 people dorms basically. The kitchen is terrible, dirty. Our beds curtain had mold!!!! Also the sink as you can see in the picture. When we came to tell them our problems in a nice way, they said to my friend that she can leave and that they don't want people like her at their hostel but she will not get her money back ( she spoke very nice and respectful to them) we stayed there for 1 night out of 3, it's a horrible place and the most horrible and rude stuff.
- Ugurcan (7/5): Good - Close to the pier I wish they were providing towels. And one cannot leave their stuff for free.
Day time cannot be in hostel as ac does not work
- Nophar (4/5): Disappointing - Close to the Ferry Not so clean and not close to anything beside the ferry.
DEFINITIVAMENTE EXCELENTE.
- Alejandro (4/5): Dissapointing - Accomodation is terrible, so noisy, uncomfortable Nothing really
- Teran (4/5): Disappointing - Beds were comfortable. Showers were disgusting, 4 of them were covered in mold.
- Teran (4/5): Disappointing - The showers were disgusting, 4 of them covered in mold.
- Caitlin (4/5): Disappointing - Location Bathroom and kitchen were not clean. Rooms small although worth the money we were disappointed to see mould on the blind in bedroom. Staff very friendly :)
- Ariel (3/5): Uncomfortable - It is close to the ferry so you can walk there. It's cheap. The shower was good and there were several toilets. It is not close to any beach really. The music pumping through the hostel was loud and abrasive. AC is only turned on at night and it was hot AF. The room was tiny and cramped with 4 beds and almost zero ventilation. I was so uncomfortable that I left after a few hours without even staying the night.
- Grizzly62 (10/5): nice staff - I like the staff. they friendly and helpful. na
- MARTIN (2/5): - LA ATENCION DE LA SEÑORITA DE LA RESEPCION DE LA TARDE DE 10 LA DE LA MAÑANA PESIMA SU ACTITUD Y SU MALA ATENCION, EL LUGAR NO ME PARECE QUE NO PUEDES ESTAR EN EL LUGAR UNA VEZ QUE REGISTRAS TU SALIDA POR QUE SI TE QUEDAS MAS TIMEPO EN EL LOBY TIENES QUE PAGAR Y SI DEJAS TUS MALETAS POR UN TIEMPO TAMBIEN TE LO COBRAN Y NO ME GUSTO QUE EN EL DIA NO PONEN EL AIRE SOLO EN LAS NOCHES.
- Ben (8/5): Good place for that you pay in Cozumel - The place is nice for what you pay, the kitchen is good and the rooms are ok too. Showers are great with hot water 😊 Some stuff members could be more friendly and hospitable.
The other issue is about Cozumel in general:
The hostel is in the center of the town but there are not really good beaches around, only small rocky ones. The good beaches are around 15-20 min away by taxi so do your own thinking.
- Yarin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Diana (9/5): Good - The location and de amenities The extra cost to guest using the bathroom
- Pavol (8/5): Very good -
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Carolina (8/5): Good value for money - - Cheap price
- Convenient location
- Clean bathrooms
- 24h reception
- Possibility to park in front of the hostel
- Shared kitchen - It does not look super nice, but considering the price you cannot expect a fancy place
- no drinkable water
- Benjamin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mary (9/5): Great place great staff would definitely recommend for future. - I had a fabulous day! The staff was absolutely great. Couldn't have been more helpful. What I didn't like was the weather LOL first week was hot as heck in the weeks to follow by rain. But it was the rainy.
- Jacoby (3/5): Poor - Room was clean
Staff was nice Limited ac hours, dirty bathrooms and kitchen
The bathroom sink was really disgusting
In general not very comfortable place
- Eve (4/5): Convenient -
- Maria (6/5): Nice - The bed was comfy, I loved the space inside and the privacy of the courtain.
I didn’t cook but kitchen looked clean.
Toilets ans showers great! With warm water They charge a lot fot a bike which is in so bad condition, is ridiculous.
They even asked me to pay 150 pesos to leave my bags 1hr after check-out? This is SO BAD. Not even the whole day, very stingy. That’s why my low puntuation
- Hana (8/5): Very good - The hostel was very clean and calm. One of the staff members was super nice and helped me with everything :)
- Javierpavezm (5/5): Passable - Just steps from the ferry on the front street. Lovely staff. Plenty of space in each bed to rest and leave your bags. Horrific ac (only from 9 pm to 8 am), horrendous bikes.
- Lorena (4/5): Not worthy, you’ll pay more than expected just to have very basic stuff - Pretty close to the ferry port Cozumel Can get extremely hot and humid but in the hostel the A/C is only turned on (centrally) after 9:00 pm and is turned off at 7:00 am. Bathrooms are extremely dirty. You’ll find out on arrival that you need to pay extra to get a towel and also to have a locker to securely store your belongings. There’s no basic shampoo or shower gel. Not a nice experience.
- Ronald (10/5): - Gracias por todo
- Noelie (9/5): Superb -
- Angel (8/5): Worth the price but could be better - The location it’s awesome Although the rooms area has air conditioning in the night there is no fans on the day so you can’t stay during the day

- Frederik (5/5): Passable - Close to the port. The Young guy in the reception was nice. The other older guy in the reception was a bit rude. One day I was sick and tried to rest, but they played loud music and we asked him to turn the volume down, he insisted that it was hostel police to play loud music from 9.00-22.00, even though we were the only one still at the hostel… The dorm felt very small, and it was not really cosy.
- Maddie (7/5): Good -
