- brendabE455QS (10/5): Absolutely AMAZING Hotel!!!!! - We absolutely LOVE this place!!!! Staff was extremely friendly and made us feel so welcomed. This hotel looks newly updated with such a cute personality. It was exceptionally clean and beyond comfortable!!!! The bathroom was very clean and fully stocked. They provided us with beautiful white robes, slippers, beach towels, delicious snacks, and water as well! If you stay in Oceanside, THIS is definitely the hotel to stay in! Everything is walking distance, beach 10 mins, excellent food 2-5 mins, and the Coaster 8 mins walk! I cannot say enough about this hotel! Especially after being treated SO POORLY at the Oceanside Marina Waterfront! Im so happy we left THAT terrible hotel and came here to The Fin. We found our perfect hotel!!

- Henry (7/5): Okay for the money. Not sure I’d stay again - Close to beach A/C was a bit loud and WiFi was very slow
Would’ve been nice to have at least one window to open.

- Mary (4/5): Disappointed in this as a Hilton property and cannot recommend - Location. Front desk staff and waitresses very friendly. The room was small, had a smell, very poor lighting, bathroom wallpaper old and scuffed. Restaurant had very slow service, burnt French toast.

- RoyceGP (10/5): Fun visit to Oceanside - The Fin hotel is an historic property, but it has been nicely updated. The rooms are small yet well-appointed and efficiently laid out. The location is very convenient and within walking distance of restaurants and the beach. The staff members were very helpful and accomodating.
- Slava (10/5): - Simple but clean room everything worked.
- Jawayne (10/5): - Na
- Damon (6/5): - As a property it was exactly what we were looking for in an Oceanside experience. The reason for the 3 stars is purely because of the rude concierge lady who didn’t make us feel welcome from the moment we checked in all the way until we checked out after 2 nights stay. She was great at letting you know what an inconvenience you were to her as a guest at The Fin. Won’t be back thanks to her rude attitude, angry demeanor and generally just unpleasant human to interact with.
- Kaitlyn Gabriella (10/5): - Bed was extremely comfy and I was always greeted with a smile by the staff. The cafe attached to the hotel makes great lattes as well. I will definitely stay here again when I return!
- Ioan (10/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Adequate little hotel - Except for a few details this was a pretty good place to stay. Clean and quiet although right on Coast Highway. The room is very small; the bed was comfortable. The shower was good but should have a grab bar! The sink faucet needs attention as a small stream shoots out sideways, soaking the counter! You have to keep the blind down as the only window looks out on a stairway so no privacy at all. The AC was quiet and efficient. Very stylish boutique hotel.
- PAOLA (10/5): Great location - Location
- Adam (10/5): It was great. - The staff was perfect. Hotel was in central location.
- Mariana (10/5): - The Fin hospitality is amazing!
Me and my son had a great stay
The young lady in the front desk named Sarah she has a beautiful personality awesome customer service!. Next time we come again I hope to see Sarah morning shift .And as well we had the opportunity to dine in for breakfast and our server was Dean, good service we love our breakfast The Fin hotel . Thank you for stay
- Amencias (4/5): Cramped, Overpriced, and Lacking Privacy – Not Worth the Stay - Here’s your updated and sharpened 2-star review:

**Rating: ⭐⭐ (2 out of 5 stars)**
**Hotel: The Fin Hotel, Oceanside, CA**
I wouldn't stay here again.
When I arrived to check in, no one was at the front desk. I waited around for several minutes with no staff in sight and eventually walked over to the Switchboard restaurant next door just to get help. Not the kind of check-in experience you expect from a Hilton-branded property.
The room itself was incredibly small—barely any space to move. The bed is so close to the shower that it felt like I was sleeping in the bathroom. If you’re someone who needs space to breathe or unpack, this isn’t the place.
As a Hilton member, I was told my food and beverage credit could be used on-site. Turns out it only applies to the Switchboard, not bottled water or snacks from the lobby. I had been charging water to the room thinking it was covered. Thankfully, the receptionist took it off the bill at checkout.
Parking is sufficient, but at $28 per day, it’s not worth it. There are two lots—one next to the hotel and another about a block away. They should include it or at least cut the price.
Also, avoid the 1st floor. I was given a room with a window that faced the street. Oceanside is a beach town, so there’s constant foot traffic. I had to keep the blinds closed the entire stay because people walking by could see directly into the room. Felt like I had zero privacy.
The hotel is trying to cater to a modern, minimalist vibe. Maybe that works for some, but if you're looking for space, privacy, and a more traditional hotel experience, look elsewhere.
- Valerie or Halei (8/5): - We have stayed at this hotel a few times. It's a great location and comfy. However, the window shades need to be top down so you can have light and privacy. The cutrent shades are almost useless. It would be nice to have a small microwave, as well, and more lights.
- Nestor (10/5): -
- SpringsTS (10/5): - I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this hotel, which I booked for a work trip. I was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty small, and the rooms are tiny, but the service has been great, it's very comfortable, and it has a lot of charm. The attached restaurant, The Switchboard, is great for breakfast, and Dean did a fantastic job of making me feel welcome.
- Chanice (10/5): - Front desk was sk sweet
- Maria (10/5): Perfect location - Quick get-away with a friend and it was great. Walking distance to everything-the Thur Farmer’s Market, strand hotels and restaurants, harbor restaurants, beach…did not have to get in my car until I left. I did bring my own down pillow and am glad I did. High quality sheets and comforter and towels. Great little place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Little gem - Little gem of a hotel. Everything was great except the mattress. Loved the little restaurant and coffee shop attached to the hotel. All staff were super helpful and location was ideal with parking.
- Elissa (10/5): - No need to drive, most everything is within walking distance.
- Ollie (7/5): Good -
- Liz (10/5): - Friendly staff and it definitely has a nice old school vintage vibe.
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- James (7/5): Good -
- Zoran (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Repeat guest - This is our second stay at the Fin. Great location, very good staff and good accommodations.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Melyssa (8/5): Very good - Manager was helpful
- Davis (7/5): Good -
- Kimberly (10/5): - Centrally located to all the fun areas of Oceanside. Not the most scenic views. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Clean, efficient room with comfy bed.
- kennedymj25 (10/5): Cute boutique hotel - Fin Hotel is a boutique hotel located close to Oceanside Beach! It has a lot of history and character. Lisa was very accommodating at the front desk as soon as we came in. She shared with us the history of the building when I asked her. It’s pretty cool to hear that it was once a switchboard for the Marines!
I was impressed to see the layout of the room even though it’s small I love it. They have beach towels, slippers and a robe. Highly quality soap made from rosemary. I loved the restaurant connected to the hotel which is called the Switchboard! We ordered salmon Cesar salad and a shrimp salad followed by banana lumpa. Our server was Steven and he his work ethic spoke for himself! We initially came for the free mocktail, but decided to stay for dinner after interacting with him.
The following morning I went to the coffee shop for coffee which is also connected to the switchboard restaurant hotel. I look forward to coming back to this hotel. As a gold member and Hilton fan it didn’t disappoint me. I highly recommend this boutique hotel!
- Wayne (10/5): - Nice property seemed at first that it was older building but inside was done nicely. the rooms were good.
- Ronald (10/5): Amazing boutique style hotel close to everything! - I have stayed here a few times. It’s an older hotel that has been turned into a smaller “boutique” style hotel by Hilton. It is very well done, comfortable and close to everything. I highly recommend it. Also, there is great restaurant next to the lobby!!
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): - Lovely hotel, convenient distance from the beach and easily walkable to downtown. Staff members were incredibly helpful and very professional.
- Ted (10/5): - There are plenty of restaurants at which to dine within walking distance of the hotel. The pier is nearby as well. I took an Amtrak to get to Oceanside, and the train station is a five minute walk from the hotel. The host was very accommodating, as he extended my checkout time by one hour ! I would recommend this hotel.
- Jesse (10/5): - Fabulous boutique hotel a short walk (10 minutes) from the beach. Smaller spot, very chill vibe and great personal service. The Switchboard restaurant and a cafe are attached to the lobby. My 4th stay and I will be back!
- Leah (9/5): Superb - The bar and the free drink. The room was basic and did not have a bath tub. At that price, there should at least be a tub.
- Tiffany (10/5): Great location. Cute hotel. - Great little boutique hotel. Perfect location. Restaurants and coffee shop downstairs, but plenty of options in waking distance. Parking is close.
- en397 (6/5): Unwelcome at Check-In - When I booked this place, I wanted a cute boutique hotel for my adult daughter and me to enjoy. With the intent on staying in the LA area most of the week, we decided to travel down to Oceanside for the afternoon on March 1st. However, we were quite disappointed as soon as we stepped in through the door. The woman at the desk was less than welcoming. She just stared us and did not speak until she had to as we stepped forward and asked to be checked in. She did not explain any of the basics to us so I had to ask every question. We felt like a bother, inconvenience and unwelcome. I tried to not show my displeasure in front of my daughter but she felt it also as she mentioned it when we got to our room. The negative energy tainted our trip the first night. Thankfully, the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant/coffee shop the next morning had wonderful and helpful attitudes. Wish we had encountered them the first day. Would have rated the overall stay 4-5 stars but the check-in was so poor and therefore, would not stay here again.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - The hotel was very nice, cozy and clean. The rooms were tight but sufficient for our short stay. The hotel staff was very friendly and engaged. Love the convenience of the restaurant/bar and coffee. shop. The beds were a bit hard for our liking and the room is somewhat cramped. The parking lot for the hotel is extremely cramped and very difficult to park in, especially when one guest had a massive pickup truck that should not have been allowed to park there. But overall the furnishings were nice as was the hotel property.
- Pamela (6/5): - Had to use iron as a table in bathroom. There is a definite need for more places to put belongings. Towel rack broken off and gone so the luggage rack had been brought into bathroom and towels on it when we arrived.
Asked maid to at least give new towels b-4 stepping out 2nd day am as advised of minimal cleaning of room unless asking when booked, but front desk person not there when stepping out. Didn’t like having trash not taken daily and our glasses and mugs were dirty 2nd day. Night attendant did bring towels when returning 2nd evening. Alley where we were told to park was dirty and sketchy.
I asked about why maid didn’t bring towels when checking out and was told probably didn’t speak English. She said we weren’t charged for parking either night. I assumed the night attendant did that. Which we appreciated. Not to par with usual Hilton quality. Room was freshly painted and bathroom tiles looked great. Bed comfortable. Safe didn’t work.
- Iain Fraser (10/5): - Great little boutique Hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was great - although we were above the bar so was a little noisy until closing (c11pm). Theres a great little bar serving cocktails and food. There's an attached coffee shop but I didnt use. About a 10 min walk to the beach. Parking out back is a little tight - but right behind the hotel.
- Alexa (10/5): - Highly recommend!
- Karina (7/5): Good -
- Harol (8/5): - If on the first floor you can hear the people above you. Room amenities do not work like the chargers and alarm clocks. TV is faded and hard to see.
- Z (10/5): - Great hotel!
- Borchert (9/5): Loved the location will definitely stay here again - Location and was very clean Just how small the rooms are
- Valentino (10/5): - Great location clean rooms.
- eveliog224 (8/5): Oceanside spot - Very friendly also was pretty easy checking in. Really good spot to chill or sleep. Gives you free drinks as well. Friends bartenders and always ready to help you out if you haven’t. The room are good but just need a little more manance on the walls because they are cracked. Really soft pillows as well
- Joseph (10/5): - Can’t wait to come back, it was an incredible stay
- Cody (8/5): - The hotel was very nice, very rustic and having the restaurant and coffee shop onsite was very convenient. The only complaint I would have is the beds are very, very firm and there is no option for a different type of pillow. Also, be aware that you will be charged $28 a day for parking. Overall it was a good stay, just not very comfortable sleeping if you are used to a soft bed.
- marthadR4790WV (10/5): Visiting grandkids - Excellent time incredible customer service all the staff is very friendly and incredibly efficient. Thank you very much. The location is very good for visiting local eateries and a nice walk on the world famous Oceanside pier. I will be returning to see Family again
- Zanki (9/5): Superb -
- Pabloemmanuel2310 (10/5): 100% recommended - Hotel is clean, staff is nice and responsive.
Location is great, approximately 10 minutes walking to the beach and 5 minutes walking to the main street.
Is the second time I stay in this hotel and both times Ive been treated great. I will come back 100%.
- Servadio12 (8/5): Pleasant - I really liked the Fin in Oceanside, friendly service, nice rooms, good food. The only complaint I have is the hidden and surprising charge of $28 per night for parking. When we made reservations, we loved the rate, but it quickly went up with this charge that is not advertised anywhere. Actually in the majority of websites it reads "parking available" with no mention to extra charge. I would call it "false advertising" and I would suggest the management of the Fin to reconsider this charge or at least make sure customers know what they are really paying for. Otherwise, I recommend the hotel.
- nikkif116 (10/5): Fantastic Boutique Hotel with an Amazing Staff! - Location is perfect! Walkable to the pier and the eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. If you don’t have time to venture out, the on-site bar and restaurant has delicious food, a lovely happy hour, hosted by superb servers and bartenders!
- William (10/5): Nice stay - Staff was friendly, room was extremely comfortable
- Coleman (10/5): - It rocked
- Jessica (8/5): - We very much ebjoyed our stay! A bit noisy but we enjoyed it
- Tianqing (8/5): Very good -
- tenacious_ange (10/5): Will be back!! - Loved our 4 night stay at The Fin Oceanside. Beds comfy, showers great! The staff was friendly, special shout out to Sultan for being super cool. The bar and food was delicious. Coffee beans roasted on-site so they had the best coffee too. Nice restaurants nearby. Great time will be back!!!
- Loren (10/5): - Clean and staff was great
- Ale (6/5): Pleasant -
- Brian (10/5): - We have stayed here a handful of times on weekend trips. We like everything about this hotel.
- Erica (10/5): - Love this hotel, would totally return! Perfect location walking distance to cafes, shops and beach . Happy hour downstairs and lovely, simple and clean overall. Great shower pressure and everything you need.
- Aimee (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Great location and enjoyed the room and staff that helped us.
- K741Gnomad79 (8/5): Cool and Simple - I think that if you go in knowing what to expect, you will be pleased. This is a small, old-school boutique hotel. The rooms are small and it isn't on the beach. It is only about four blocks from the beach though and is in a really cool neighborhood. The service was great and it has an interesting history. I didn't get the chance to check out the bar or coffee-shop but wish I had.
Be sure to try and get on the second floor. The first floor offers no privacy unless you have the blind all the way down.
- nadarien (8/5): No frills, comfy stay - The room we got was on the ground floor and it was very accessible and stones throw from the lobby. The room is pretty small, sink outside and the shower and toilet is separated. I guess that's the one I selected. It was clean and a good place for an overnight stay. We didn't stay inside the room much except to sleep and left immediately in the morning. There's an attached cafe/bar I think. If you want something, it's easy to find places outside.
- Amy (10/5): - Very beautiful & peaceful stay!
- Sandra (8/5): Just great! - Very comfortable, great location and loved having coffee cafe and bar/food downstairs. One more chair for seating.
- Ashley (10/5): - Quaint property right by the train station. Clean and quiet. In a walkable neighborhood close to shops and unique, local dining.
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (9/5): Superb - Bed super comfortable and hotel was quiet
- James R (10/5): - It was perfect for me as a single traveller! Nice walk to ocean and pier!
- Murray (10/5): - Seamless experience at a this hotel which is rare when booking an ADA room. The room is well designed and considered for ADa. Im a c6 quad using a manual wheelchair. No issues!
- Bonnie (10/5): - Very convenient location. The staff is very friendly. Many dining options at the location and nearby.
- Schenk510 (10/5): Great boutique hotel in Oceanside, CA - Came to the Fin to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We immediately loved the vibe of the hotel. Great lobby, awesome restaurant and fabulous coffee shop all on the premises. Every employee we came in contact with was fantastic. Five stars for the customer service. The rooms are well appointed. My wife and I will be back soon.
- Sarah (10/5): - The staff was delightful with exception of 1 night shift front desk, as the issue was resolved without loss, it will be overlooked. The hotel & amenities were everything we needed & wanted. Location was amazing regarding delicious food, drinks, coffe bars, & the beach! Great area!
- Spiegs1968 (10/5): Our Oceanside Go To - The Fin has become my go to for visiting our son at Camp Pendleton. Centrally located, historic and cozy with a great, all day, restaurant and coffee shop attached. It’s a great place to be if you don’t have access to a car. Rooms are modern, clean and comfortable, many are on the small side so maybe not ideal for families but no worries for single or a couple. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Coffee shop donuts are made in house and to die for- I don’t like donuts much but i struggled not to order more of these. Menu is small, eclectic and very well executed. Bar is a great place for a cocktail or drink on your way to or from dinner. Ok, the small team isn’t perfect- we ran out of TP but ultimately that’s minor thing. Stay here for the right reasons and you won’t be disappointed- highly recommended properly.
- Samantha (4/5): - Not worth the money. I paid for a room with a balcony but it wasn’t private there were multiple room facing us as well as houses. In the morning there was a strong smell of gas that over took the room. The room was smaller than average and the area had a ton of homeless people. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to go all the way around the multiple streets to get to the beach because of the train station. Over all bad experience at this hotel. Would not recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Small friendly hotel, well located - The room isn’t huge, but it’s comfortable and well designed. Great location within walking distance of the Oceanside Pier and several wonderful restaurants. (The Switchboard restaurant in the hotel is worth checking out too.) Well located for anyone traveling on Amtrak or the Coaster. The staff is also very helpful.
