Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (10/5): A home away from home - A home away from home. It was peaceful, clean, had amazing food and friendly staff who could not do enough for us. The tree house was great to look at the animals on the lake. Sad to leave, could have spent more time here relaxing. It’s all fantastic.
- Ingvild (10/5): -
- Deepta (10/5): A perfect stay within reach of Yala national park. - A luxurious villa not far from Yala national park. We stayed as a family of 5. It has three comfortable bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The pool was clean and well kept. Anusha and family were wonderful hosts. We had an incredible dinner cooked by Anusha’s husband- both western and Sri Lankan food was better than any we had eaten before.
The kids loved spotting crocodiles from the tree house. Anusha arranged a morning safari for us with a packed breakfast. Just perfect. Only stayed a night and wish we’d stayed longer.
- Jordan (10/5): Perfect from start to finish and exactly what we expected and more ! - Everything from start to finish was perfect, the house is in a lovely jungle setting and you have full roam of the house while staying there , which you are looked after by Anusha and her family, which adds to the experience even more!, couldn’t ask to be looked after and treated so well but such kind and generous people
The food was perfectly cooked every night, we had bbq the first night and then the Sri Lankan food was even better the next night so we had two nights of traditional Sri Lankan food and it was better Than the first somehow!
I highly recommend this stay to anyone considering yala, it was so relaxing with the pool and just so well looked after,
We hope one day to return as it was this perfect!
Hope one day to see anusha and her family again along with Bulu & Mala
Jordan & Georgia UK 🇬🇧 Nothing was all perfect
- Andrew (10/5): A really great stay for visit to Yala national park. We were very well taken care of by Anusha and her family - Beautiful property with beautiful grounds and excellent service from Anusha and team Nothing
- Swati (5/5): - Cleanliness Inflexible staff. Constant pestering even when we were delayed only by 15 mins on checkout (have a small baby who was sleeping). One of us didn't go for safari and staff refused to give him anything to eat before others returned at 10 am..
No hand towels.

- Jens (10/5): An exceptional two nights stay - We had a wonderful two-night stay and everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. The entire property is beautifully maintained and absolutely spotless. The house itself is very charming and stylish, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
The pool was fantastic – crystal clear water and very well maintained, perfect for cooling down after a safari or a day in the heat. One of the highlights of the property is the tree house overlooking the nearby lake. Sitting there and enjoying the view of nature was truly special.
We had dinner at the property both evenings: one night a traditional Sri Lankan curry dinner and the other night a BBQ. Both meals were incredibly delicious and freshly prepared.
What really made the stay exceptional was Anusha, who takes care of the property together with her family. They are among the kindest and most welcoming hosts you can imagine and made us feel genuinely at home.
The air conditioning worked perfectly, which is very important in this climate. In the evenings they also set up mosquito coils around the house, which was a very thoughtful touch. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept very well.
We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Yala area. Nothing
- Kim (10/5): Fabulous Stay! - What a wonderful place! We loved our stay at Neem Tree House. Anusha and her family took such good care of us. We ate dinner both nights there and the meals were delicious. The villa is lovely as are the surroundings. Highly recommend!
- Peter (10/5): Droomplaats om meerdere dagen te verblijven. - De rust. De locatie. De Boomhut. Het fantastische personeel. De lekker en gevarieerde maaltijden. Bundala natuurpark! Complete chaos!
- Hannah (10/5): Perfect - Great location and the villa is simply beautiful. Perfect for a family as plenty of rooms or even a couples getaway. The highlight of the stay for us was Anusha - her hospitality was out of this world and every need was catered for! The treehouse was also a highlight, overlooking the river and Yala where it’s great to watch the sunrise and sunsets.
- sharon (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful, the most unique place we’ve ever stayed. - Anusha and the staff were so incredible and are the best thing about this place. She was very accommodating, very kind and attentive. We want to come back just because of the staff!
The property is beautiful, the pool was lovely and the tree house by the lake was one of our favourite parts of the trip. The bedrooms are very comfortable too with amazing showers.
Food was fantastic. Highly recommend the Lankan breakfast menu; the string hoppers and dhal and seeni were some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka.
- Joy (8/5): -
- BIANCA (3/5): Ok location but rude staff and poor service - The location of the hotel is convenient for anyone visiting yala At the arrival we requested for the take away breakfast as we had the safari early morning.
The package consisted in two options plus banana and coffee.
One of the option were sandwiches while the other were extra eggs and sausages that I don’t eat and there were no sweet options, so we have requested to have two sandwiches instead and if possible some fruit.
In the morning, while at the safari, we basically understood that only half sandwich (extra) was provided and as extra fruit was provided ONE SLICE of pineapple.
At the arrival in the hotel we gently highlighted this with the lady and she mentioned that it was our problem if we didn’t pick the second option and that the pineapple was extra.
Moreover she started being very rude saying that we had a check out, that we haven’t requested but she proposed and we kindly accepted.
We managed to speak with the owner that was slightly concerned and sorry about what happened but given the attitude of the lady at the hotel she started getting annoyed because we wanted to pay separately.
In the end for us was a bad experience as I have stayed in other hotels in the area and the approach is very different.
- Maria (9/5): Secluded big villa with a summer house by the lake - Big villa with choice of 3 bedrooms. They only have one booking there at a time. Several chill out areas. Summer house down by the lake. Great for bird watching. BBQ dinner meal option was superb. Nothing to dislike.
- Rachit (10/5): - Amazing staff, location, property, food. Can't wait to go again
- Tim (9/5): Lovely stay - Everything was so nice. Nice rooms and area for the whole family. It was like sitting outside in the nature. The “bird watch” tower was amazing in the morning to see birds and the sun go up. The host Anusha is amazing and it feels like you are a part of the family. Her husband cooks lovely food. If they where not there tha experience wouldn’t be the same. They are so welcoming and will help you in any way and keeps the property so clean. They also arranged safari for us and made a packed breakfast. The toilet had a funny smell jut the staff did there very best to keep it away with freshener.
- Ruben (10/5): - The friendly manager, food and sense of home Nothing
- Zak (10/5): Incredible. Anusha was world class. Unforgettable. - My favourite part of our stay was Anusha’s incredible ability to make us feel welcome. Our stay was beyond impressive. Anusha and other family provided the most amazing food, incredible service and exceeded our expectations. Her ability to make us feel so welcome was overwhelming. No issue was an issue. We would highly recommend this stay to anyone travelling as friends or with family. The rooms were very spacious and modern yet had a traditional feel to each of them.
- Ashleigh (10/5): Perfect! - The location and style of this property is brilliant. There is a tree house at the bottom of the fenced garden that looks over a lake. From here you can see so much wildlife like crocodiles, water buffalo and so many birds.
However what makes it exceptional is Anusha and her family who live in a joining property next door. We were looked after brilliantly and the food was amazing (I highly recommend it). Nothing was too much trouble, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and it was!
- Allison (10/5): - Anusha and her family welcomed us into this incredibly beautiful home, surrounded by nature and truly peaceful. The beds, food and hospitality were perfect. Anusha's cooking was exceptional and her family just beautiful. They were there to assist us and ensure our stay was amazing, which it was. Highly recommend staying here, it was a truly exceptional experience for us. Thank you Anusha and family!
- Allison (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous property, our host family were exceptional - so helpful, friendly, kind and had lots of great advice for our stay. The food Anusha cooked us was the best we've had in Sri Lanka, she was truly the most wonderful host. The entire property is extremely clean, the pool is divine, the wildlife experience is wonderful. We had so much fun here, treasured memories forever. Thank you 🙏 we will definitely be back!
- Daisy (10/5): - The whole experience staying at Neem Tree House was exceptional, from the location to Yala, the facilities, the decor, the comfy bed & most importantly Anusha’s hospitality, we could not fault any of it.
We highly recommend staying here!
- Florence (7/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): Wonderful and will never forget Anusha - In a scale from 0 to 10 I should give 11. Not only the villa is designed in an elegant colonial style with fine furnitures, and everything is comfortable and peaceful. What makes this place unmissable is Arusha and her family that do the impossible to make you feel home while also being discreet. A big thank you to her. All is perfect. But you have to bear in mind we are close to a natural parc so there are insects at night.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional! - This place was the best place we stayed on our trip around Sri Lanka. Anusha was an amazing host who ensured we didn't want for anything during our stay, and her cooking is delicious. Having our own pool was fantastic. The beds and pillows were super comfortable
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful stylish and comfortable villa - This house is beautiful and it was our most comfortable stay of the whole trip. Everything from the beds and pillows, to the lounge areas and the pool was amazing!
The staff were so beautiful and helpful and made our trip so comfortable.
A highlight was the sunrise in the tree house and seeing peacocks walk by as we laid by the pool.
- Alastair (10/5): -
- Avni (10/5): A home away from home- Our stay was absolutely wonderful — warm hospitality, delicious food, and unforgettable experienc - Anusha and her family went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their hospitality and kindness were truly exceptional, and we especially appreciated their thoughtfulness in accommodating our vegetarian diet. They organized our safari seamlessly and made the space incredibly comfortable. Anusha’s husband is an amazing chef, every meal was a delight!
- Hanussek (10/5): - We had a truly wonderful stay at Neem Tree House, nestled in the heart of nature near a serene lake. The house itself is beautifully designed with a charming garden and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.
Our host Anusha was incredibly attentive and made every day special. From the thoughtful touches to the warm hospitality, it felt like staying with family. The local surroundings were peaceful and full of life, with animals roaming freely and a nearby pool perfect for cooling down on hot days.
The house offered great comfort and a unique blend of local character and modern convenience. It was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka and truly a place to recharge and enjoy the beauty of everyday life.
We highly recommend Neem Tree House to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing stay in Yala. It’s a place where nature, comfort, and kindness come together beautifully.
- Elmar (10/5): Unrivaled recommendation! - Where to begin? As you take the dirt road from the main road, you wonder where it will end... But then suddenly there's a fantastically beautiful house in an even better location. It's nestled in an oasis of tranquility. The house itself is clean, very spacious, and fully equipped. We enjoyed watching the various beautiful birds in the garden, and from the treehouse, you have a wonderful view of a large lake. There, too, we enjoyed watching everything that flew and moved. But what impressed us most was the family who gave us a warm welcome and cared for us with such loving care. They continuously did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. For us, they epitomize the tremendous hospitality we experienced in Sri Lanka. The food was deliciously freshly prepared and unsurpassed. Watching our children play with their children was also priceless. We would like to thank the family again for an unforgettable time and hope to return someday! Nothing at all!!
- Deborah (10/5): Ottimo - Villa molto bella ed accogliente
Anusha è stata molto gentile e premurosa con noi
Buonissima la cena srilankese Nulla
- Jessica (10/5): Fantastisch! - Super lieve mensen en super mooie locatie. Ik zou dit iedereen aanraden!
- Sandrine (10/5): - This is my second stay at Neem’s Tree House. The home is a beautiful villa close to Yala. The garden and surrounds are full of wildlife. The Villa is managed by a delightful couple that make you feel comfortable and relaxed from the moment you arrive. Their service is exceptional. I recommend dining in, as the food is wonderful! Thank you Anusha and Ajith.
- Johannes (10/5): One of the best places I have been so far! - The villa was amazing. The whole area, with the watch tower, the peacocks and everything was just perfect.
But what makes this stay one of a kind is the incredible service by Anusha. It was just the best stay that we had in Sri Lanka by far. Many thanks for being able to stay with you!
- marta (10/5): Fantastico!!!!
- Giulia (10/5): Accoglienza perfetta. Personale gentilissimo e super disponibile. Cena e colazione ottime. Struttura tenuta bene, pulita -
- David (10/5): - Outstanding small villa recently renovated and styled in a very tasteful and relaxing design. We loved it. Communication via WhatsApp with the owner’s daughter was prompt, efficient and with excellent English. She organised our safari, which went smoothly (and the driver was excellent).
Upon arrival, we were met by the very charming Anusha who was a lively presence during our short, one-night stay. She and her husband prepared a really delicious dinner, which we had after a quick dip in the pool to freshen up. After-dinner tea served in living room, and breakfast he next morning was equally delicious.
Altogether, the owner had a little gem of a property that is well managed. Good value for money. We would certainly return.
- Kim (10/5): - Great house and very kind staff!
We all regretted that we only booked for one night. Would have loved to spend more time at the house.
- Sarah (10/5): Sri Lankan hospitality at its best. - The host family were incredibly welcoming and really made the stay. The Sri Lankan food was fabulous and the house was beautiful. All within a stones throw of Yala National Park - we would highly recommend!
- Emily (10/5): Beautiful house with the kindest host - What an amazing house, we were lucky to have three nights with my family and enjoyed every minute. The stand out was Anusha and her lovely family, so helpful and kind. From the moment we arrives, dishevelled from a bad car trip, she quickly swooped us in and made us feel right at home. She cooked us lovely meals, organised our safari and when our driver let us down she swiftly found us an amazing driver to take us to our next destination. Thank you 🙌 Nothing!
- Polly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eugeniu (10/5): Exceptional - The house was wonderful!!! The hosts are very receptive and helpful!
- Svetlana (10/5): Exceptional - Neem Tree House was our first stop in Sri Lanka as we wanted to go on Yala safari and it's only located 20 minutes by car and the host can arrange a trip for you. This place is absolutely gorgeous, purely surrounded by nature: birds, peacocks, monkeys, lizards and not to mention crocodiles as it's located near a lake. As you are in the middle of all that nature, be prepared for the different type of bugs crawling but for us it wasn't an issue as you do expect that in tropical countries. The house itself is beautifully decorated and the swimming pool is absolutely the perfect temperature!
And most importantly the host Anusha with her beautiful family made our trip even more pleasant and unforgettable. You couldn't find a more welcome, kind and ALWAYS happy person. She couldn't do enough for you! She even made me a special herbal tea to sort my cough ( been unwell with it for some time ) which did work! We also had breakfast and dinner cooked by Anusha during our stay which was delicious and great value for money! I couldn't recommend this place enough. You would love everything about it and beautiful, kind people live there!!! Thank you so so much for making this trip so perfect!!!❤️
- Martin (10/5): A high quality place to stay that made us feel like royalty! - The location was great, and the area around the property was fantastic - I loved looking out over the lake!
Breakfast and dinner were made to order by the host and was excellent quality. We loved the pool and the living space, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and modern. Nothing could have been better to be honest.
- Reshani (9/5): Superb -
- Gregory (10/5): Serenity in Sri Lanka - Anusha and her family provided an experience that would be hard to top. After meeting so many lovely people on our Sri Lankan trip we arrived at Neem to complete serenity with the most helpful considerate hosts. Very clean spacious facilities with a choice of rooms overlooking the pond and out to the lake.
Throughout our stay their attention to detail and our comfort was incredible. From surprising us with morning coffee as arouse at 4.45 for our morning safari to her family hosting a surprise birthday breakfast for me on our last day. The food variety and quality was spectacular. A quiet location with a variety of local wildlife at your back fence. The environment was both safe and tranquil. We recommend you spend some time with the hosts at this location.
- Natalie (10/5): Must stay when Yala! Anusha was a gem and the house is absolutely stunning! - Absolutely a delight staying at the Neem Tree House! From the warm welcome and hospitality of Anusha & her family, the interior design, the tranquility surrounding the Villa to the hard felt good-bye, we can only recommend the Neem Tree House and looking forward to come again!
- Watts (10/5): Amazing property, exceptional service - The property was beautiful. Great location, amazing pool, living areas, inside and out. At the bottom of the garden there was a tree house overlooking a stunning lake - we spent the evenings here enjoying the wildlife and spotting crocodiles! Our host was exceptional. Anusha and her family tended to our every need, very polite, friendly and welcoming. They prepared our food for breakfast lunch and dinner, organised our safari, our travel and everything we needed for our stay. We highly recommend. We will most definitely be back in the future. Thank you! Nothing!
- Alex (8/5): Beautiful eco-style lodgings, with welcoming hosts. - Beautiful eco-style property. Lots of comfortable places to relax and beautiful features. Large, well maintained outdoor pool, plenty of outdoor space and a stunning treehouse platform which overlooks the lake. Lots of bird life to be seen. Spacious comfortable bedrooms. Although the living areas of the house are open to the outside, and there are bugs, especially in the evening, the insect control seemed very good and these were not especially troublesome. The highlight was the host Anousha and her family, who welcomed us in to their new year celebrations and could not have done more for us, including serving up 2 delicious meals. Thank you. We were warned by the host on arrival, that the floor is polished concrete and can be exceedingly slippery. You do need to take care.
There were not as many beds as expected (2 doubles and 2 singles only). We had a bed added, but it did not then have a mosquito net, which was definitely needed in this place.
- Kim (10/5): Stunning property, exceptional food, you will be very well looked after and won’t want to leave - What a fantastic stay, wish we had longer. Stunning property, all questions answered promptly from the owner who was very helpful. Wonderful family who look after the property too. Nothing too much trouble, excellent food etc. we were so well looked after. This was our favourite place of our Sri Lanka trip. A crocodile made an appearance in the night, which was a highlight
- Natalya (10/5): Exceptional - This is incredibly perfect place for a family that is managing by super nice family (thank you so much Anusha for all your kindness). The villa is cozy and has everything you need, the rooms are very comfortable and pool is amazing. The villa is located near the pound where you can watch different birds and even alligators. We were not much disturbed by insect and reptilians but at the same time you are in the centre of nature. The managing family is happy to provide you with breakfast, lunch and dinner for a very good price, we enjoyed it a lot. Definitely would come back
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francesca (10/5): Blissful stay! - Our stay at Neem Tree House was nothing short of exceptional!
Anousha and her family could not have done more to make our one night stay as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed the delicious bbq which included a whole grilled fish and chicken as well as the breakfast they prepared for us once we came back from safari. Location is near to Yala national park and she organised safari for the following morning and a jeep collected us from the accommodation. The facilities were amazing and we had a wonderful stay we will remember. Thank you!
- Lara (10/5): Perfect stay with the perfect hosts in Yala national Park - would highly recommend and will definitely return!! - The facilities are fantastic
The chef cooks incredible food on request (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
Beautiful look out point over the lake - you can see sunrise and crocodiles in the lake in the morning
Air-con rooms
Good mosquito control
Clean
Host amazing!!
Proximity to Yala Nothing!!!!
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully designed villa, very comfortable stylish rooms, open verandah lounge brings you close to wildlife, refreshing pool, a tree house overlooking a lake with crocodiles and stunning birds, and super friendly hospitable staff. Everything was amazing, and you get the whole place to yourself. Everything was fabulous.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - the staff were really great. the chef was fantastic and prepared so much food for each meal, we were never hungry and it tasted amazing. very tranquil and great place to stay when visiting yala national park
- Dominic (9/5): Superb - You have the whole property to yourself. The Pool is actually not cold at all! The whole property is very pretty and spacious and the staff are very sweet and attentive! Beware that there are lots of insects at night because it’s a very open type of house. Not as private as we would have liked, the staff lives next door and they often come and check how you are doing with their little kid. However, They are very sweet!
- Lorraine (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property, newly renovated. Super comfortable beds. Nice private pool. Tree house over the lake to just sit and watch the nature. Staff could not have done more for us Nothing
- Fatima (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect place to comeback to after early morning safari and chill - The house far exceeded expectations in every way. The photographs don’t do it justice. It is fairly isolated but certainly not remote, but I guess if you don’t have a driver or your own transport it might be difficult to get anywhere.
The staff were lovely and the food they prepared was delicious home cooked Sri Lankan cuisine.
We loved that in the area around the house there was lots of wildlife and even more if you went to platform at end of garden overlooking the lake. It is an 11 hour flight and long road trip from our home! Because if it was closer we’d visit a couple of long weekends a year and the fact I’d only booked 2 nights.
- Ignatius (10/5): Perfect getaway! - Our stay at the Neem Tree House was definitely a perfect getaway! The team was fantastic, very accommodating and prepared some great food during our stay. The property is 20 minutes from the National park and arrangements can be done through the property. There is a lake close by where you can spot many alligators and a tree house where you can spend hours enjoying a bon fire. Will definitely visit again!
- Tamsin (10/5): Our family stayed for one night at Neem Tree. We had the best meal of the holiday there. We were overwhelmed with how gr - Beautiful property with a fantastic tree house to wildlife spot, a perfect setting.
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (10/5): Beautifully designed villa in tucked away location but convenient for Yala safari - It's a lovely villa with a lakeside location, pleasant pool to cool off in, great food and wonderful service. My son struggled with how open the property was to nature and wildlife, but we knew this before coming and that it would be tricky for a very indoorsy child! Importantly, the bedrooms were fine with fans and nets, we didn't get any bites.
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent chef and very nice host
- Shanthikumar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicky (9/5): Superb - The house was roomy and very cool, loved the decor and the views over the pool and gardens. The pool was lovely and the staff were so helpful. Loved the meal we were cooked that evening - so much food and great value for money. A few frogs in the bathrooms which were very cute but the kids weren’t impressed :)
- Nick (10/5): A real Sri Lankan experience! Wonderful - We had the whole property to ourselves during our stay. It’s a beautiful house, with a traditional charm, surrounded by nature. The food was delicious!
- Catherine (9/5): Lovely location for Yala safari. Felt like we were in a safari lodge. - Gorgeous villa, felt homely but luxurious at the same time We were the only guests which suited us, but could feel remote to others
- Paul (9/5): Great place to stay , had really nice time - Location great for wildlife and close to yala . Staff super friendly and great food at very reasonable price , so good we at there every night . No need to go out . Mosquitoes, but can’t do to much to prevent it as right in the wild . Would suggest putting aircon unit in centre room as a safe cool space for everyone to sit
- Charlotte (9/5): Beautiful Villa and wonderful staff. Loved it! - Incredibly friendly staff. Beautiful property. The kids loved the pool and enjoyed spotting the frogs and lizards darting around the place. They even found a snake (harmless) and spied a crocodile that lives by the lake. Lots of fireflies at night too so it felt magical. Great food too! Lots of mosquitoes so bring DEET (to be expected in the tropics). The property is catered but doesn’t have a drinks license, so you need to buy your own. Having said that, the owner did arrange for drinks to be delivered on the first night.
- Lauren (10/5): - Great property and food! Amazing wildlife and the family running the property are very accommodating. I would highly recommend!
- Panagiotis (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts were very attentive, and the food they cooked for us was super delicious.
- Ana (9/5): Excellent - The people were lovely and the house was very spacious and very well decorated. The house blends greatly with the nature. It’s a good location to go to Yala National Park. Perfect for large groups. Due to the location and type of house it will have animals coming and going, but that’s not a problem for most people coming to Yala.
- Herman (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, we had the entire villa which included private pool and huge garden at the lake. Many birds and other animals. House has a great architecture with many open spaces. Family is wonderful and they cook delicious. Note that there is nothing around where you can walk to, so dont count on going anywhere ( anyway you dont really need to as everything is taken care of)
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vishwajit (10/5): Great stay, total relaxation, great people and homely food - It’s a very well maintained villa. It’s surrounded by the greenery. The view from the pool is just fantastic where you find many animals roaming around you will feel right in the middle of a small forest. The hosts were very friendly. The food was delicious. Mosquitos!! But of course this has nothing to do with the villa it self :)
- Amy (6/5): Family stay close to national park. - Viewing platforms over the lake was nice
15 mins from the National Park Food selection and quality
House set was more like a homestay than a private villa.
The lounge area was open/ technically open so unable to use it as a bedroom
- Tai-ling (9/5): Definitely recommend - The convenient access to Yala National park. The landscape is marvelous and good for medication and full of Zen. The food is amazingly good and the price is even bette, the spices added is subtle with good flavor. Our chef bought fish from the local fish market at 6:00 am. The style of food preparation is excellent. Manager Mr . Samdamal and his family provided a very welcoming environment. Highly recommend to give it a try. Remember to try the fish. Sooooo yumyyyyy Everything is wonderful but be prepared to have some insect visitors; this is inside the jungle and we intrude their space
- Lorenzo (10/5): Amazing villa in the middle of the Jungle - Property is amazing, super spacious and cozy. Pool area is great with lake view. Hosts there are super helpful and food is one of the best we had in Sri Lanka so far. Totally recommended!
- Lior (10/5): Exceptional - The place was designed in a special way that blends in with the outside nature, the host was amazing and unusually kind. All our needs were taken care of flawlessly. The food at the meals was very indulgent. We had a great experience and it's a shame we didn't stay more nights in this magical place!
- Jn (9/5): Great base for a safari trip - A huge compound, tastefully decorated and furnished, with an open and airy layout. The service was great too, highly personalised and attentive to detail, e.g. the manager brought a bottle of water to our rooms before we retired for the night and handed us more before we left at 5am for our safari tour. We'd've preferred he didn't hover around as we tucked into our meals, but then we understood he was waiting to replenish the curry that we had finished! More please! The place is clearly catered to guests planning to go on safari, so there are some thoughtfully constructed steps that align with a jeep. Try to catch the peacocks that roam around in the grounds: we were told there were more than a handful and saw one or two! Despite (planned) power cuts, our electricity was uninterrupted as they had a generator. The pool could have been better maintained: when we arrived the water did not look inviting.
- Saiful (9/5): The best of Sri Lanka hospitality and nature - Neem Tree House used to be a corporate chalet, with multiple bedrooms, a living room, dining room, a kitchen and of course, a pool, so it's huge. When you stay here, you get the whole run of the place, which was great. We stayed in Kirinda to visit Yala, and the safari trip was very easy to arrange. We loved the meticulously-prepared and packed breakfast ;). The property is right on the fringe of the national park, so it's as close to the wild as you can get without actually being in the wild. Regular visitors during our stay included peacocks, monitor lizards (out in the yard) and of course, many beautiful birds. We even got to see passing herds of wild cattle just across the property fence too. The service was exceptional. The manager was very obliging, and we even had the now-retired former manager visit us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok (he shared some really great stories about the place too - ask about the visiting crocodile). It's clear that they take great pride in their work. The meals were great - prepared on site just for us, fresh and delicious, and the portions were huge. Just the mosquitoes, but that's to be expected from being in the midst of nature. Otherwise, nothing to complain about. :)
