Guest Reviews

- JENNIFER (9/5): Very comfortable, good location. Sometimes it was noisy outside - The property was clean, and the staff were friendly and professional.
The food was excellent. We had dinner there each night. There was not a good residents lounge, which could be somewhere else to sit when staying around the hotel.
- Virginie (9/5): - Personnel au Top (hôtel et restaurant).
Excellent petit-déjeuner.
Très bon restaurant La qualité de certains équipements (TV, douche)
- Linda (10/5): - Professional, friendly, funny staff. Great value. Cleanliness and comfort.
- Peter (10/5): - We had booked half board for our wedding anniversary, so we didn't have to go looking for a restaurant on the day. The best thing we ever did. The meals were exceptional, large portions, extremely well cooked, and an extensive choice. The service was top class, all the staff were really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. When we left, we had a late flight, and they allowed us to stay in the Resident's lounge until we were ready to go. We usually lookfor small, personal hotels where we are regarded as guests rather than numbers, and this is up with the best of them.
The location is also ideal, in a quiet coastal village, with an excellent bus service into St. Helier every few minutes. We could not fault them.
- Linda (8/5): - Great value. Clean. Super breakfast. Wonderful staff. My room was very small. However it was still comfortable
- TRISTAN (8/5): -
- Pamela (8/5): My fifth time staying at Gorey Pier - nowhere else in Jersey I love as much for a holiday ❤️ - It’s harbour side situation - close to the buses, easy to go out for a walk after dinner & beautiful gardens The entertainment in the bar downstairs was very noisy one evening 🙈
- Binimc (10/5): - Small single room but very comfortable and with harbour view
Room facilities all very good eh tea/ coffee/ toiletries
Took half board package - food and restaurant service were both excellent with professional and friendly staff
Reception staff very helpful TV didn't work very well - interference on picture as arial loose
Bigger bath towels would be nice
- Hugh (7/5): Functional stay in a tiny comfortable room. - A late booking, within a month from booking and they had a single room available, room number 1. Nice view over Gorey Harbour, bed very comfortable, bathroom clean and functional. All in all, a tiny single room but functional. Tiny single room, no dedicated space to leave a small suitcase. Car parking could be problematic with no private dedicated guest parking.
- Peter (8/5): -
- Anne (10/5): - The location was exquisite. We could sit at the outdoor tables and look out over the bay. A castle is right around the corner. The breakfast was all you could want, and they even gave us a to-go bag when we had to miss breakfast. Nothing
- David (8/5): -
- Linda (8/5): An enjoyable and very comfortable five-day stay - The staff are delightful, cleanliness exceptional, food good and wholesome. Particularly like freshly cooked breakfast, with table service Nothing negative to report
- Gordon (8/5): The best way to explain our stay is we re-booked - The breakfast had a choice, but the hot breakfast is excellent and all served with attention to detail by the very friendly staff. The main block on an otherwise excellent week was there is no lift and having mobility problems the stairs to the second floor was rather difficult.
- Gae (10/5): This little gem of a hotel is simply delightful! - The location was excellent; right on the harbour in front of the castle, very picturesque. The hotel is very clean, lovely friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant serves excellent breakfast and the evening meals were absolutely delicious; very generous portions, even when requesting ‘a small portion’. We had DBB every day, which was excellent value for money. We had to leave to catch our flight home early morning and therefore couldn’t have breakfast; the restaurant manager asked if we would like to have a packed lunch instead. They couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. We will definitely return!
- John (10/5): - Nice hotel.Staff friendly. Good location for bus at door to get about.
- Virginia (5/5): Satisfactory - Location in Gorey very good. Good sea view Tired room needs updating More choice for breakfast -
- andrea (7/5): Very nice hotel,I would reccomend it to anyone, particularly the younger generation - The breakfast was very nice, the sausages were very good quality, and the scrambled egg’s delicious, also the evening meal was really nice, compliments to the chef, all in all the staff were very friendly and helpful,I would highly recommend this hotel The loud live music just below my room,I go to bed quite early, but I had to go to my sons room on the second floor until it stopped
- Trudy (8/5): -
- Annah (10/5): We felt at home. - I liked everything about it the rooms were clean, the staff was amazing, the food ,the sea views was beautiful and it was close to transport and the live music Nothing I can think of
- Fiona (9/5): -
- Giangi (9/5): Bellissima esperienza. Tutta l’isola ha posti splendidi - Posizione fantastica! Molto molto meglio la camera vista mare! Gentilissimi. Ottima colazione Letto alla francese. Moquette
- Danny (10/5): Brilliant hotel and bar. Gorey is the best. - The Dolphin, is a fabulous hotel to go to when exploring the beautiful island of Jersey. It was very comfortable and we had a double room overlooking the Marina. The staff are very friendly. The bed comfortable and really clean. The shower wasn’t great
- Vincent (9/5): -
- Frances (10/5): Great stay, will return. - Fantastic staff, clean, quiet room. Lovely food and great atmosphere full of interesting and friendly locals.
- Bryan58 (10/5): Fantastic beach/harbour location will definitely go again. - Breakfast and evening meals were really good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was really good with a fantastic view from our room. The room could get too hot at times but the weather was exceptionally hot. Don't book if you don't like the sound of a lively pub. The shower could do with some extra pressure by fitting a pump.
- Olabisi (8/5): Great location, clean room, pleasant Reception staff.my apologies I didn't take names. Great!! - Average, not much choice. However pleasant staff. The fish i had for breakfast was so hard.
- Islandhopper (9/5): Nice place to stay and to discover the island - Great location, beautiful views and very good base to discover the east and northeast of Jersey. So many amazing bays around almost every corner. It was a bit loud on the weekends due to live music. Good to know if you are looking for a quiet place to stay
- Martin (7/5): nice break, two days was enough - Good location, pleasant friendly staff the view , we had a room at the back of the property facing a wall
- Vicky (8/5): Great location, lovely staff would definitely stay again - Location & view from the bedroom was brilliant. The bed was small & no aircon.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Friendly hotel within the small town of Gorey. There are plenty of places to eat locally and a good base for an evening walk. Nothing
- Grégoire (9/5): Superb -
- Wayne (9/5): Excellent - Great location , nice clean room, the staff were really friendly and helpful and good fun , we were made really welcome.
The table and bar service was really good.
In my opinion this should be a three star not a two. We had room 2 a sea view, the only downside is it can be very noisy.
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (6/5): It's 2 Star but not as we know it.... - great location. Popular bar and restaurant! beautiful views of the harbour. Rooms are comfortable, if a little dated, shower lack any pressure so be prepared for a long wait to get wet!
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): - Spotless rooms cleaned daily, restaurant also spotless and staff could not be any more friendly and helpful hopefully I will be returning in September many thanks to the dolphin Andrew giles
- John (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Location is everything here so sea view room essential!! Unbeatable!!
- Ken (9/5): A wonderful holiday and looked after so well with a family feel and excellent food - All the staff were so helpful, very friendly and went out of their way to help and advise. The view over the harbour was quite spectacular, all of the food was of a high standard and cooked so well. The only downside of the property was the lack of a lift to the upper floors.
- Helen (9/5): A nice, old-fashioned, comfortable hotel - The staff were very accommodating and the harbour views were magical.
- Audrey (9/5): It was ideal for me to meet my friends daily and have a meal together or be picked up in a car just at the door. - Location is perfect. Toilet too close to the wall in front.
- Wright (10/5): A very special week's holiday, in brilliant sunshine, with plenty of good walks. - All we needed for breakfast, & a lot more we could have had if we'd wanted it! Evening meals were outstanding. The Dolphin is opposite the bus stop, so easy to get out & explore. Too busy enjoying all that we liked to even think along those lines!!
- Sandra (8/5): It is a beautiful area to stay. Not very lively. A brilliant bus service. - A beautiful location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only real downside is that it is the local watering hole and on Friday nights there is a DJ playing heavy music very very loud, until 11pm. And on Saturday nights there is live music, again very loud. Even with all the windows closed it is difficult to sleep, and then there’s turning out time.
I must also mention that there are 2 floors, 33 stairs in total which could be challenging for the less mobile.
- Verified traveler (10/5): deserves more than 2 stars - Staff were exceedingly helpful and thoughtful.
- Maureen (9/5): super stay, would do it again. - Loved the location, right on the waters edge and the view from our room was amazing. lovely walks along the promenade and the castle right behind the hotel... wow. The breakfasts and dinners were superb. the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly too.
- Peter (8/5): Wonderful island, beautiful and interesting scenery. I can understand why people return year after year - Staff were superb and friendly. Location is beautiful. Food in restaurant was good and better than I have had in 4 star hotels Beds could be bigger (at least queen size). Pillows need upgrading and the water pressure needs addressing
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - The food was nicely cooked, hot, and a good choice available
Parking was easy.
Wifi was good.
Nice welcome and my case carried upstairs for me. Be aware that buses arrive / depart opposite the hotel early and late and keep the engines running.
- Paul (7/5): Good location and room but food a little disappointing. - Good sized room. Excellent location.. Bathroom was a bit small. Breakfast was variable with very poor scrambled eggs that seemed as if they were made from powder. Dinner was OK but no better than that. No-one on the front desk at 7 15am when we left to return our car park disc deposit. u
- Richardson (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was amazing, the live music in the evening was fantastic and it is in close proximity to the castle where you can get lovely photos of the area
- Laura (8/5): Great location . Relaxed French hotel feel. - It was a great location. Staff were lovely. Paid extra to include dinner which suited us.
- Carol (10/5): A great hotel in a fabulous location - Lovely comfortable and very clean bedroom overlooking the bay. Kettle and plenty of supplies of tea/coffee etc.
Lovely restaurant, great choice of menu with very attentive staff
Waiter service for a fabulous breakfast (cooked to order not a buffet style)
Fantastic and very friendly staff - always smiling and very helpful
Superb location in beautiful Gorey
Fantastic bus service (bus stop just across the road) Nothing to dislike
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Good breakfast, very helpful staff, excellent location, just opposite the bus stop Would have liked the option of a king sized bed
- Keith and Janet (10/5): - Parking was very difficult. Maybe there should be a couple of spaces reserved outside for hotel customers but they did give us a parking disc.
- Lafoley (8/5): Nice weekend break - Very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast cooked to order. Music from the bar was quite loud although it did stop at 10.30pm
- Fiona (9/5): Stay at the Dolphin - I love the Dolphin, it's relaxed and fun, amazing location, friendly staff, good price Nothing
- Alvin (10/5): Very good,nice staff - Very nice
- Margaret (5/5): It was ok for the price glad I stayed there - Breakfast was nice location was great due to bus across the street great views from room It could have been cleaner
- Nicola (10/5): Can’t wait to come again - Great location, staff are incredibly friendly & helpful. Great Value for money
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - I had a great weekend here, the room was lovely and comfortable too.
The staff were really nice and very helpful.
Food really good.
Amazing location, possibly the prettiest place you could ever visit!
Fantastic value for money, I'll definitely be coming back again. Nothing!
- Ingrid (9/5): Superb -
- Josie (8/5): A good choice of hotel for our visit to Jersey. - Excellent breakfast, comfortable rooms, really helpful staff Our rooms were on the top floor - not easy for older people with heavy suitcases to carry up and down.
- Bernice (10/5): A well enjoyed break to a place we live! - The hotel is well placed in Gorey. It met our requirements well and we enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel.
- Peckover (1/5): Noisy, very noisy! - The room had a fantastic view of the harbour from the window. At 9 pm band started playing in the bar downstairs. It felt like I was in the bar. It was so loud it was impossible to think let alone sleep. I went to reception to see if I could change rooms but couldn’t find anyone so ended up, leaving the hotel and booking in somewhere else.
- Heather (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Blackburn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Campion (8/5): Very good -
- Marion (8/5): Go to Gorey Pier - Great location. Sun shone every day. Travel with buses and a hire car good. Loved the little roads. Google Maps handled directions well. Very friendly people.
Two good dinners in hotel. Two nights had very loud bands playing below our room. One was ok as we liked the tunes
Second night was awful, tuneless, and excessively loud bass going right through the head.
- Teresa (10/5): - Staff and locals were polite and friendley. Convenient for visiting the island as bus stop opposite the hotel. Views from the room were lovely. Throughly enjoyed our stay and eould go back again
- Raymond (8/5): Very good - The location couldn't have been better and the food was very good and value for money. The staff in the restaurant were first class and we also enjoyed the Friday night music next door. If possible book a harbour view room.We were in room 14 at the top of the building which looks into apartments.Beding and especially pillows need upgrading.
- Brian (10/5): Lovely hotel which made my holiday! - The hotel is in a prime position facing the lovely harbour of Gorey. I had a harbour view from my room which I could look at all day. The staff are amazing.. polite and friendly.. I can’t write anything in here
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was great I would add Greek yogurt as an option with prunes fruit salad. The location was lovely having the bus route outside was a great help would visit and stay again Nothing
- AMANDA (10/5): - The Staff, Rooms and Food absolutely 💯 will be back!!
- Sharon (8/5): Very welcoming - superb location - excellent food - Amazing food - location pretty fishing village - amazing castle back drop View from room
- Margaret (8/5): Lovely location overlooking the bay - The location provides wonderful views across the bay and there is a bus stop for St. Helier nearby. Breakfast was table service and food was of a good standard. Overall a good place to stay for a short break. Live music at the weekend in the bar below our room created a noisy atmosphere. However, it was all over before midnight, so not a problem unless you want to get to sleep early. There is no lift therefore access to the bedrooms could be difficult for anyone with restricted mobility.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb - No lift and steep stairs were a slight issue.
- Channing (10/5): Little gem, in a stunning location - Good location on the waterfront at Gorey, right underneath the Castle, live entertainment on each weekend and very friendly staff, from reception to front of house in the bar and the amazing staff that run the restaurant on long hours. The food here is amazing, really good produce and changes daily will be back to sample more for sure. They have a good relationship with their guests and many come back time and time, staff remember these people and make them feel very much at home along with a new comer like myself.
Had issues with the ferry on the return journey and a possible 24/48 hour delay. Reception staff amended my accommodation and sorted out late check out to coincide with the issues I was experiencing. Very professional and accommodating during a stressful time.
I will definitely be back and cannot wait to see you all There is nothing not to like really about the hotel, it’s super clean and tidy, the bathrooms in the rooms are nice and modern. only grumble which is not really a grumble is to update the rooms themselves. Get rid of the 1970s doors on the wardrobes and get rid of the wood chip paper in places. This is just personal preference and to match the modernness of the bathrooms. However this will not stop me from staying here again
- Terri (7/5): Good -
- Fleming (4/5): Disappointing -
- Andrew (7/5): Great location fantastic restaurant. - Great location, fantastic restaurant with great views, difficult to fault and very good value for money. Somewhat tired and room very warm with basic facilities.
- Derek (9/5): Excellent choice for our anniversary treat - Location, staff & food Stairs
- Angela (6/5): Convenient location with great walks and beaches close by - Breakfast was quite good, except the same every day which was a bit much for 4 days, not buffet style. Staff were quite rude and abrupt
- Catherine (5/5): Excellent location, lovely staff but very dated and noisy hotel. - Excellent location. Great breakfast, hardworking and helpful staff. Very dated rooms. Duvets and pillows need replacing. Water pressure in shower almost non existent. Very noisy from the bar on Friday and Saturday night, didn't get much sleep.
- Thomas (8/5): A nice relaxing stay with great food in the hotel restaurant. - Wonderful location at Gorey Harbour at the foot of the castle. Food was fabulous, and brilliant transport links around the island. 33 steep stairs to the second floor room, no lift. The bar area got noisy with locals at times.
- Paul (10/5): Stay a weekend at least to enjoy the ambience - The restaurant below I had the seafood platter for two for myself it never fails to impress me Leaving
- Sheila (9/5): We would return! - Location. Staff. Food. Excessive noise from the band outside on Saturday night.
- Kenneth (7/5): Good location badly maintained - The breakfast was v good and the service v good The hotel needs a very good refurbishment its carpets are stained and dirty the curtains and paintwork are well past a good clean and need painting
- Keira (7/5): Good -
- Judy (5/5): Passable - The food in the grill and location. View from bedroom ,hot water was changeable.Too many stars.
- Ronald (9/5): Very good value and really good food. - Really good food at a reasonable price. Very good friendly service from the staff at reception and in the dining room. Although two star rated, this hotels compares well with higher rated establishments..
