Guest Reviews
- Carlos E (10/5): Excellent choice! - Excellent location, safe environment, easy transportation, great breakfast and wonderful activates to do around the area. No complaints.
- Vibha (8/5): We had fun & highly recommend. Apart from food service everything was great. - Nature & Rooms Didn’t like the slow restaurant service. Can be improved with more staff.
- Michael (7/5): -
Toallas viejas y percudidas.
- Ricardo (10/5): -

- f9234af2ad157281871035a1b1c5e54f (10/5): Great family base camp for a few days in atitlan - Beautiful spot surrounded by nature with lovely staff, delicious breakfasts and lots to do! Coffee could have been stronger, but what a tiny complaint! Everything was wonderful.
- Gregory (8/5): Overpriced, but great experience - A sublime location used very well, a few minutes from central Panajachel. Excellent integration with the nature surrounding the resort, with great grounds and trails. The lodging was rustic, built into the surrounding land, with natural materials and large windows. Excellent food at the restaurant. Some upgrades, especially bathroom facilities, would be welcome.
The lodging was fabulously overpriced for what it was.
- Debbie (9/5): - Location, rooms, hikes, food No dinner there
- Keith (10/5): Large comfortable room in peaceful natural surroundings - Large, spacious room with very comfortable king bed, plus twin bed, and great bathroom. We also really liked the large balcony and the decor, in keeping with the natural surroundings. Quiet and private, while easily accessible to Panajachel by tuktuk. Includes good breakfast, and free access to the lovely Nature Reserve trails, beach and butterfly garden. Highly recommended.
- Polly (10/5): This place is a tranquil refuge from the business of Panajachel. Definitely recommend staying here! - Our family loved: the super clean and comfortable rooms, the warm and responsive staff, the purified water on site for guests, the beautiful peaceful surroundings in nature, the healthy home cooked breakfasts, and the adrenaline pumping zip line tour! Nothing
- Ms (8/5): Ok. Wouldn’t stay there again. - Restaurant closed at 4. Staff told us hotel atitilan restaurant available but it wasn’t!
- Bart (7/5): - Goede, warme douches. Ruime kamer. Sommige personeelsleden spreken basis engels. Restaurant was zeer basic. Dranken bij ontbijt niet inbegrepen.
- KIMMARIE (10/5): Paradise - The staff were friendly and helpful. There are no words to describe the natural beauty of this place. Just a short Tuk Tuk ride from a bustling town to a quiet paradise. The shower lost heat one morning but it was fixed promptly. No other problems. One just needs to be prepared to have no tv...but who would want one when you a re staying in natural beauty.

- Woodcock (8/5): It was a great place to enjoy family time! - Breakfast was great, but slow. I really enjoyed the grounds, flowers, butterflies and beach! Because of the way we reserved, I had to pay %100 when booked, and then when I got there they staff wanted more money.
- Brian (9/5): - Great breakfast, a variety of activities available on site including small hikes, a lake beach, zip-lining (with charge). The rooms were great and we enjoyed the Nature feel. However, so more ambient lights would have been great!
- Sarah (9/5): - The room, bathroom, balcony, view and location within the reserve all made our stay incredible. Better information about the trails would have been fantastic, also it's a shame the kitchen closes so early (4pm)- they're missing a captive audience by not offering dinner options for guests.
- Lucrecia (10/5): Un lugar campestre, con mucha naturaleza, tranquilo. - Entorno natural La cama pequeña estaba en alto y no tenía baranda.
- Broaddus (10/5): - The location, out of Panajachel, but you need to figure out dinner. I used Migoya's. Not cheap. It was great for birding. I used the hotel San Buenaventura with their day pass. That place is wonderful. Breakfast was fantastic. My king bed super firm and comfy. Linen great quality. The staff is terrific. There's a great vibe. They're committed to being ecologically smart, and they walk the walk. I liked everything, but one thing, if you're into birding, use the San Buenaventura for a day pass. Extensive grounds. A hotspot. It's low slung and relaxed, and the architecture is just amazing. Frank Lloyd Wright was a big influence, obviously.
- Elvia (10/5): -
- Ingrid (9/5): Nice place to stay away from crowds. - It was clean. The shower pressure was good and the water was hot. Lots of trails to hike and the property was pretty. Breakfast was average to good. The bed was comfortable and had extra blankets in case. Could use a little more lighting around the property, as it is pitch dark at night and we had to use our phone lights. It is a little bit of a distance from the downtown area. You can take a tuk tuk which they will call for you. It took about 10 min of waiting. Overall, that was fine. We did try to get some food at 4:45 and even said to go and were told no. That was a little off-putting. We ended up walking across the property to another hotel and had an excellent meal. It is about 500 meters away.
- Vicki (9/5): Great room in the jungle - Loved the location inside the natural reserve. Very nice room. Good breakfast at the restaurant. Loved the butterfly garden. A bit far away from the town for restaurants, but that is kind of the point. You can get a tuk tuk to town without a problem.
- Coombs (10/5): - Comfortable and clean room. Loved being able to walk to grounds while the park was closed.
- Roberto (9/5): If you like nature, you are in the right place. - The setting, the rooms, the facilities for exploration of the place and the sense of being amid nature. The breakfast service was very slow, waiting time 20 20 to 25 min. The breakfast included in the cost was not flexible.
You depended of tuk tuks to go to Panajachel, so you needed to negotiate the fare of each trip.
- Dorinda (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Loved the trails.
- Juan (9/5): -
- Marroquin (10/5): -
- Ana (9/5): - The forest
- Furlan (10/5): -
- Sandra (9/5): Great escape to nature! - The zipline experience is amazing and the walk to the beach is worth every step. The towels had a humidity odor that was a little bit unconfortable.
- Marnie (10/5): Reserva Natural was beautiful. - The beach trail was closed for construction. We were not able to see their beach area.
- Aurora (10/5): The property is amazing. The room was comfortable and the activities were amazing. - I loved the rustic feel and bright colors. It was very eco-friendly, which I love. The ziplining was awesome. We really enjoyed the hiking, hanging bridges, butterfly dome, monkeys and waterfalls. Beautiful property all around. A couple of crickets and a wasp wanted to join the party. But we got them out.
- Oudiz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexey (8/5): Very good -
- Leigh (9/5): Superb -
- Karla (10/5): Amazing! Just as described and more!! - All the natural plants around the property. Also the fun things to do and see with the family like the monkeys, swinging bridges, zip line, bike cables, oh and the children's playground was awesome! Nothing!
- Tatiana (9/5): Beautiful hotel, with lots of activities. A place to immerse yourselves in nature - Activities, the friendly staff, the peaceful environment Thin walls between rooms so you can hear everything.
- Giuliana (9/5): Peaceful, quiet room with access to nature walks - The location is on a mini 'nature reserve,' which was nice for walking around, there are some trails with lovely views. The room was clean, had a large and pretty balcony, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room came with breakfast, which was also good. Even though it is a bit away from the main town, it is easy to get to / from Panajachel via uber or tuctuc.
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Guy (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (6/5): Potential for improvement - Surrounded by nature yet close to Panajachel Focus was on day visitors . Restaurant closed at 5 pm . Alternatives were: tuk tuk to Panajachel town : walk ( 20 mins) : dinner at close by Hotel Atitlan or another restaurant maybe 10 minute walk . Service was slow , often no member of staff around . Not particularly engaging staff . Expensive stay
- Michelle (8/5): Secluded sleeping in the treetops with nature - A handful of lodging rooms are available tucked away inside this natural reserve. You will feel like you are staying in the treetops. The rooms are clean and spacious. However, know that the walls are thin and we could hear full conversations next door.
They seemed a little short staffed but the people were kind and helpful. Be sure to take advantage of all the offerings on the property including the trails, the wildlife, and the butterfly sanctuary! If you have mobility challenges, this property is probably less than ideal. Everything is on the hill up and down with uneven ground.
- Christine (7/5): Good -
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Beautiful rooms, in a natural setting. Very peaceful we had the whole place to ourselves in the evening when the park was closed, just us and the animals. Lovely breakfast. We enjoyed the walks and being able to escape into nature from the hustle and bustle of the town.
20 minutes walk into the town or quick ride in a tut tut and a couple of nice restaurants in the hotels nearby too if you didn't want to venture too far. Its not a hotel so service is limited and you need a bit of Spanish or Google translate helps. Didn't bother us and we loved staying here. Nothing
- Mairead (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting with lovely walks on site and easy to get a tuktuk into town for more things to do and eat. A shame the onsite restaurant isn't open in the evening.
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff. The booking description was misleading as it stated room would have one queen bed and one twin bed. It did not mention the twin bed was a wooden bed (that was actually smaller than a twin bed) which hung from the wall. The description of the room should have been more clear.
- Jenny (10/5): Beautiful and unique place to experience the reserve - The room was spacious and beautiful, We loved walking around the whole reserve at all hours. The staff tried hard to make sure our stay was comfortable. Although there was usually a tuktuk around to take us into town, sometimes there was none available, and with the hotel being a bit far from main part of town, we had to get creative with trying to find a ride.
- Fiona (9/5): Superb -
- Lojewski (9/5): Beautiful! - It’s gorgeous! Like a little jungle getaway. You have access to the trails and waterfalls at night. Great breakfast with vegan options included in the morning, and the dining area is beneath blooming vines. Very tropical jungle glamping vibe. Butterfly dome is AMAZING!!! Not a dislike, just an observation, but the park is less like a national park and more like a theme park. Pretty standard for Central America but it is geared towards tourism. Hikes aren’t strenuous, monkeys are behind electric barriers. The lake part is pretty manicured. The coatis come out at feeding time. But, it is quite beautiful and very fun to walk around and explore.
- Lucie (8/5): Top notch location - The location was absolutely amazing. It really is in the middle of a natural reservation, you could take several little trails from your room through hanging bridges to see waterfalls and lake Atitlán... They also had a butterfly garden and raccoons and monkeys and there's a zipline option. The balcony was amazing and getting to hear the jungle sounds at night was incredible. The staff was really nice, the room was clean, the bed was huge, the size of the room was good too. The breakfast was delicious. There was very little space to put our stuff, we could really use a wardrobe. The restaurant served good food, but the closing time at 5 p.m. was pretty inconvenient, especially as there aren't many other options nearby. And twice we came around 4:20-30 and they told us we can get beverages only... Also the isolation was quite poor and we were getting ants, mosquitoes and flies in our room. A mosquito net could have been useful, got bitten in our room plenty of times...
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - The grounds were beautiful. We had coffee and pastry in the restaurant. It took a very long time.
- Colleen (9/5): Superb -
- Douglas (10/5): So peaceful and relaxing after a busy week - Staff was so helpful and friendly All good!
- Massimo (9/5): Superb - Best position, directly in the park with beautiful tracks to walk and Explore. The Mariposa dome was a unique experience , with butterflies resting on our shoulders. Better than the trip to the villages in the lake. Very minor things, worthless to mention.d
- Robert (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful stay! Would recommend! - The Reserve is beautiful. Many things to do on the property and it’s away from the noise of Panajachel. I wish the restaurant was open earlier for breakfast and stayed open for dinner. But the food I was able to eat there was great!
- Iraida (7/5): Good - Nice breakfast and clean room The toilets dont flush so well
- Prada (10/5): It was wonderful… - Everything! So nice, a lot of nature.
- Jocelyn (9/5): Nice original place - Originality of the place, very quiet sleeping in the jungle. Confortable beds. Nice balcony Pressure from the shower head int 4 different showers.
- Dean (8/5): Very good -
- Lera (10/5): It was an amazing experience to spend a couple of days at this resort. We will definitely return. - We loved everything about the property. It’s beautiful, spacious, close to nature.
- Carmen (10/5): Beautiful place!! - Everything was extremely good, the food is delicious, the room big and nice, beautiful place! Nothing
- Gentiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luis (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Dain (10/5): Amazing place to stay! - Spacious rooms, incredible forest location
- Meghan (9/5): Superb - grounds were beautiful. plenty to do without ever leaving the hotel. Staff was always friendly. breakfast was good. like some others in the reviews, I too found a scorpion in my room. a little freaky but I relocated him and all was well.
- Swithin (10/5): Great natural calm place to stay, recommended - Beautiful, great staff, peaceful Nothing
- Victoria (9/5): Superb -
- Marino (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely wonderful experience. Stunning grounds with lots of activities to do during your stay, and the cafeteria is pretty good too. Although I don’t speak Spanish staff was very patient with me and helpful when communicating. I couldn’t recommend more
- Nienke (10/5): An idyllic retreat at Lake Atitlan, nestled in a tranquil reserve, boasting spacious rooms, stunning views, and friendly - After staying in 3 towns, this was my favourite stay in Lake Atitlan. Set away from the hustle and bustle, the lodge is set in the middle of reserve (meaning you don’t pay access like external visitors).
The room itself was huge! It was beautifully decorated, clean, and super comfortable. My favourite part was sitting on the extensive balcony, overlooking the reserve, and listening to the birds singing whilst having a morning coffee.
The staff are friendly, and the restaurant menu had plenty of options at a reasonable price.
Easy 10min to walk into town - although you do need to walk along a main road for part of it, or take a tuk tuk.
Highly recommend!
- Lana (9/5): Superb -
- Mavis (10/5): Fun and above my expectations - Everything was very good I think the entrance road should be pavement
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb - Loved the butterfly reserve, the extreme canopy or Zipline. Very clean rooms and fast check in and check out. Doesn’t have a lake view, the sink had a bad odor.
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (3/5): Poor - the location is special there was no water in our room during our stay, and nobody mentioned anything of it or helped us when we texted them about it. little bit weird costumer service overall
- Anita (10/5): Jungle dream! - This hotel set on a nature reserve is a dream. Wake up to the birds singing, take a walk and see the beautiful fauna and wild monkeys and coati. The staff (Paola) was welcoming and attentive. Also Toby (the dog) was an adorable ambassador!
- Nayira (6/5): It was ok. I was not blown away. - The property is IN an actual Forrest. The hiking grounds are well kept, the lake area is clean, the rooms are ok. There is no restaurant inside for dinner. There is no where to get food except breakfast. There is no staff available for you.
- Jeremy (10/5): A unique place to stay out of hustle and bustle of Panajachel, worth it! - Really cool property! Wish we could have enjoyed it more but we were just getting over having parasites from local food. Breakfast was included, which was a major plus! It is totally worth staying here since the entrance fee is so expensive, it offsets the price of the hotel, and it’s a cool spot to stay just generally. It is worth it if you can actually take the time to enjoy.
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
