Guest Reviews
- tim (2/5): - Dirty filthy hole
- heather (4/5): - nothing
grubbie sub standard inferior dusty only decent feature was a comfy bed but the rest eg shower room window sills coffee/tea facilities carpeting of a very low standard will certainly NOT recommend
- Darren (8/5): Mucky bathroom but Comfy - Stayed here 2 years ago and gave it 8/10. The property has dilapidated a lot since, particularly the corridors and stair cases.
The worst things about our stay was the state of the en suit bathroom, which was absolutely filthy. The toilet rim was covered with a black substance so had to clean it ourselves - no idea what it was (the pic was after flushing twice). And the toilet seat was loose. Hairs were everywhere and the shower cubicle hadn't been cleaned for a long while so wasn't used. And the fan on show wasn't working, luckily we brought our own as there was a heatwave occurring.
The good bits - the lady in reception when we arrived was nice and friendly. The sink, fridge and microwave were acceptable, but for me the best thing about the apartment were the beds - very comfortable making for a good night's sleep.
Also the location is ideal for exploring Southport's town centre, amusements, cafes, bars, shops and Prom.
- Don (6/5): - The location was brill Staff friendly comfy bed. roon not very clean eg shower windows broken tiolet seat not repaired when asked damaged waste bin in bathroom worn window blind marks on walls and carpets
- Dave (2/5): - It was close to the amenities and had free parking. Bedding and towels were clean apart from that the mattress needs to be replaced the springs were sticking out. The carpet in the room was dirty, the shower was dirty the toilet seat was falling off. The room could do with an update. Suppose you get what you pay for.
- Antonia (6/5): - Cheap basic accommodation just behind the town centre. Location great for town centre, rooms basic but clean. Parking is a challenge as only 4 spaces and you have to block someone in.
- James (2/5): - The room smelt strongly of smoke and it wasn't very clean. We ended up walking out and not even staying there
- Marta (2/5): Horrrible - Głośno do 2 w nocy, bardzo zle łóżko, brudno. Potrafili obcinać włosy przed wejściem do hotelu.
- gerard (2/5): - Hi. I don't normally provide such information, however, I thought I would make an acception here. This was an awful hotel and shouldn't be advistised the way it has which mis-led me into purchasing this room. We walked in, went to the room and immediately made arrangements to stay somewhere else. We tried to shower before leaving, but the water was boiling hot. Again, this was awful
- Laura (6/5): - We could not sleep ( noisy neighbours)
- Lisa (8/5): Great value for money. - After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit worried, but surprisingly, we were quite happy with our experience, the room was clean & tidy & in a good location. Overall. Really great value for money.
- Diane (6/5): Night in Southport - Bed was comfortable and clean, on-suit bathroom with shower supplied with towels. Room could do with a little TLC but advised in the middle of decorating the entire building. Convenient location, in centre of Southport to all amenities including 2 minutes walk to shops, pubs, restaurants, pier, beach and funfair
- Sonia (4/5): - The property was tatty and reminded of a bail hostel. The bathroom wasn’t big enough to swing a cat and there was faeces on the toilet door.
On a positive beds were clean with fresh sheets.
- Lois (8/5): - Parking arrangements were very disappointing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pros: The person working there was friendly and waited for us to check in late. The location is convenient.
Cons: The room I stayed in had bedbugs and I woke up with a lot of bites. I checked around the bed and sheets after waking up with bites and found a bedbug, so I did confirm that they were actually bedbug bites.
The room overall was ok, but not great. Bed sheets smelled like smoke and bathroom floor was kind of dirty. Acceptable if you get a low price, but I would have been annoyed by those things if I'd paid a high price for the room, so something to keep in mind if you book this place. But for me the bed bug situation is an absolute "no". Being covered in itchy bites is no fun, and even worse than that is the risk of ending up with them hitchhiking home with you on your clothes or bags. Not worth it at all.
- S (6/5): - Room was not in the main block but further down the road on top floor (fourth). No lift but lady who met me was very kind and carried my case up. The room and bathroom was clean. Just an awful smell in the room when you entered even though the window was open. Clean towels and toiletries provided. Room very dated
- Mairanna (10/5): OYO Southport - We had a very enjoyable stay. Location was excellent. Room was adequate and had very comfortable beds. The room, towels and bedding were all clean and comfortable. We would certainly come back. 👍Sean was very helpful and hospitable. 👍
- John (10/5): - Fantastic clean rooms
- gavin (10/5): - lovely brilliant staff in hotel and room was so clean had a lovely stay we will come back..
- gavin (8/5): - was okay clean
- Brendon (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay and would give it 5/5 but the pillows need to be thicker and TV needs to be a little bigger as it was across the room so struggled watching. Would I stay again? Yes definitely value for money still
- Verified traveler (8/5): It did the job - For the money, it did the job.
Bad points...There was a loose power outlet in the room, the carpet was grubby, the hot water wasn't hot, room was freezing.
Good points.. clean bedding, useful in room facilities, location, really comfy beds, price. I'd stay again for a girls weekend.
- ANDREW (4/5): - Way too basic... not worth the money at all
- Darren (8/5): Satisfactory - Quick, no-nonsense check-in and out. Couple of places in the room unclean but not to too bad overall.
Firm beds.
Great location but parking at the front could be problematic at busy times.
Room needed a lamp.
Satisfactory overall. Would stay again.
- Erica Dawn (10/5): - Spacious for a single room. Could do with hangers for the wardrobe and/drawer space. Overall happy with the room.
- Amanda (6/5): OYO rooms - My daughter and I just stayed for 1 night. Room was OK. The only problem we had was the people in the next room to us was very noisy late at night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid OYO at all cost - We were welcomed to spots on bed linen, pubic hair under the duvet, stained walls, squeaky floorboard underneath stained carpet, dirty floor in the bathroom, crumbs on the table and dusty wardrobe. The shower head wasn’t cleaned probably since the bathroom was painted as it was sticky and had paint spots on it. It appeared that the carpet wasn’t vacuum cleaned as there were bits of cigarette ash underneath the radiator.
I requested clean bed linen and these were promptly supplied but there was no daily room service (as mentioned in reservation confirmation) and I had to ask for more toilet paper and bin bags. Someone left a bag with their rubbish in the hallway and it was not collected for two days.
A huge rusty towel hanger in the bathroom was strange and slightly disgusting.
The walls were paper thin with a badly fitted door letting the light from the hallway in during the night.
Some guests were smoking in their rooms with the smoke penetrating the hallway and the room. I her to asked the guests in the next room to stop using air freshener in the hallway as I could smell it in my room as well.
Also, some guests were noisy a few times around midnight when returning from a night out or having an argument.
Quite an experience overall and I will not stay at OYO rooms again.
I considered requesting a refund but decided not to.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice clean room. Recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent value for money with friendly owner. Spacious room with en-suite, small tv in room and plenty of free tea/coffee.
- Stewart (10/5): Clean, safe, friendly, value for money rooms - Great stay, very accommodating and easy to deal with. Nothing too much trouble.
Extremely good value room.
- Michael (8/5): No complaints here. - Jamie the owner was an interesting man & myself & daughter had a comfortable, quiet experience whilst celebrating her birthday at a local restaurant. Highly recommend & a pleasing price to boot.
- Martin (10/5): 10* - Fantastic hotel, definitely my number 1
- Stephen (8/5): - Excellent service by property coordinator 👍
- Martin (10/5): 30 out of 10 - Fantastic place, room spotless.
Don't come here if you have to be up early, the beds are super comfortable and you may oversleep like I did.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Booked what we thought was a room with kitchenette. Only had microwave. Only had cups and all four were dirty. On arrival there was rubbish in entrance hall, up the stairs and on carpet i our room. Toilwt had urine and paper in it and sink had tissue paper stuck to it. No hot water for shiwer and no hairdryer. Entance also smelt...?like wet dog. Price was very reasonable but cleanliness below standards especially in covid pandemic.
- Mark (8/5): - Good for price. Great location, close to everything you need.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good stay - nice place
- Verified traveler (8/5): nice place - clean & comfortable
- Louis (10/5): Amazing service - It was amazing good service
- Donna (6/5): Over priced for basic accommodation - Very basic.Tea & coffee in room but Only two sachets of milk so only could have one cuppa each. Limited number of car parking spaces.
There are four b&b buildings and one shared reception area not always manned.
Room was warm which was nice as it’s an old building.
Not a very homely feel as no pictures on the wall. Also no bedside lights only one ceiling light so dark in room. Overlooked back yard which needs sorting out
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great base at a reasonable price - Great base, clean and tidy rooms
- Helen (8/5): Southport Stay - Nice hotel recently modernised just needs to add some finishing touches to make the rooms more guest friendly.
- Christina (6/5): - The cleaning lady did let us in early as she was onsite but apart from that we didn’t see anyone. There was no heating in the room, on the second night there was no hot water. The bath towels were never changed in three days.?I tried ringing the contact number and could not get any response and when I did they hung up. The local area is not that clean. Overall wouldn’t recommend.
- KM14 (6/5): Not a hotel level - The check in took ages as the first room didn’t have hot water, they gave me a second room with hot water, then the keys were not working. The room had a very high humidity that I found concerning. The bed was way too hard to my preference. The bathroom was clean, although there is no daily room cleaning. The heating was not on.
- Peter (8/5): Budget stay at the Tequila - This hotel has self catering kitchens on each of the floors with fridge, freezer, cooker & toaster. Some of the kitchens also have a microwave. There was a kettle, tea bags, coffee & 2 packets of semi - skimmed milk in the room. There is no on site staff but there is a mobile number to ring when you arrive. The hotel is in the process of being refurbished & there were a few minor deficiences e.g. shower doors did not completely shut together, there was no switch for the room light near the bed, & the wifi did not work. However the room was clean, the bed comfortable & there were 3 free parking spaces at the front of the hotel.
- Sylvia (10/5): Great place to stay - The owners are so nice and very helpful they bend over backwards for you, we arrived early so we could have a bit more time and they check us in at 10:15, and as they were not busy they gave us a double room each instead of the twin we booked. I would definitely return and recommend them to anyone. We were just 3mins from the pier and the maid shops.
They don't have a Bar/loung but they do have wifi in the rooms.
