Guest Reviews
- Nicola (1/5): Avoid at all costs!.. extremely unwelcome stay. - The bathroom was ok the bedrooms were dressed nicely. At £324 I’d expect a hair dryer.(we didn’t ask.!). There was no gate for the dog to keep the dogs secure. The double bed was on wheels the milk we had six little container cartons, extremely poor!. The hot water run out on two peoples consumption the third person had to wait 20 minutes to 25 minutes for a great gain some regained some temperature. One of the staff was rough argumentative told me if I didn’t like it go somewhere else she carried it through our visit. I’ve got laughed out in the morning when I come to pay my bill generally intimidating with eye contact broken window that wouldn’t show ground floor the accommodation was in the middle of a car park. I had to wedge the door with my handbag because there was no gate on people of the pub was just staring in because I was in the middle of the car park personally I would avoid at all costs. It was brought to the manager’s attention. She said there’s nothing that we can do and apparently she was on the phone in the morning With this rough member of staff that she employs laughing? felt extremely uncomfortable and the breakfast was extremely poor as well on edible actually.

- Peter (9/5): Friendly staff, convenient location, good facilities - Room was fanastic, very large with impressive furniture. Shower over bath meant I couldn't use the shower due to disability. Better to have seperate shower cubicle.
- Claudia (10/5): Accommodation and location were perfect. - Everything was awesome! The chalet was comfortable, spacious and suited us well. Food was excellent. Service was top notch - always with professionalism and a smile. The location was everything we'd hoped for, and we called it "the Real Scotland"! Despite the somewhat isolated location, there was plenty to do and sights to see. Country life at its finest. We didn't like that we didn't have time to stay longer. It was hard to leave.
- annick (10/5): Excellent séjour Cuisine excellente - Tout
- Anne (10/5): Really special lovely small but perfectly formed friendly hotel with great staff - Appreciated the lift as we are in our late 70s. All the staff are very helpful and the room we had was quite lovely Nothing that the hotel could do would improve things as the only thing that was a bit irritating was whoever was in the room above us woke us up a few times as for some reason the floor up there makes loud creaking noises whenever it is walked on
We did not like that the restaurant room played music but maybe some people would like that. As we were the only guests eating an early breakfast we asked if the music could be turned down and that happened straight away

- Marie (10/5): - Nous avons passé 2 nuits absolument magnifiques. La literie était parfaite. Le personnel était adorable. Les soupers et petits déjeuner étaient excellents. Le jour où nous reviendrons sur l'île, ce sera à cet établissement que nous réserverons à nouveau.
- Waldemar Olszewski (10/5): -
- Marion (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oana (8/5): Very good - The staff was really nice We didn't have hot water
- Carla (8/5): Nice, clean place to stay. - Hotel staff stayed until midnight to greet us. Exceptional!! GPS took us to “Borve House”, a private residence to the south, because we inadvertently selected this choice instead of “Borve House Hotel” when entering destination. We drive 40 minutes out of our way, and we were over an hour late arriving - at midnight - barely connecting with the manager of the hotel, who very kindly waited for us. It was our fault, but perhaps the Hotel might make guests aware of this potential confusion for guests arriving by car?
- Sheila (9/5): Great Place to Stay - The hotel had a good-sized car park. Our room was large and very comfortable, with good views to the sea. It was tastefully decorated. The staff were all efficient and friendly. The food was very good and well presented. The portions were generous. There was even a lift to take the luggage up to our room. A luggage rack would have been handy, but that was minor.
- Wendy (6/5): Very expensive for no real service or quality. Don't understand its ratings. - Restaurant staff very attentive and food beautifully presented and excellent. Constant very loud door banging, it appears my room was next to a store cupboard. Poor quality room insulation. Could hear staff laughing or chatting at reception. Could hear the kitchen bell chime when food was ready. Dark room. I eventually found the room folder of information under the TV shelf, after I had returned to reception to find out WiFi code, location of restaurant, breakfast times etc. Hairdryer was also in TV cabinet ? !, despite there being a wardrobe and dressing table !! Plastic glasses and high sided bath for shower, with no grab rail.

- Roaming76 (9/5): Superb -
- Mike (7/5): Good -

- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - Very comforable hotel, excellent food, and pleasant staff.
We had a very nice stay.
- Gina (10/5): THis is a hotel (not as pictured). Nice staff and updated bathroom. - Breakfast was great, and there is a bar there if you want something at night. There was Scottish music and dancing the night we were there which was a wonderful bonus. The wifi did not work upstairs. We could get a signal downstairs but not in our room.
- Richard (7/5): Good - Nice rooms and restaurant
Good bar Could be more welcoming and attentive the guest’s needs
- Ruth (7/5): Good - Loved the size of the room, the bathrobes (on request).......and we could iturn up the thermostat when we arrived feeling chilled and the room heated up quickly. Bed really comfortable as we're the club chairs and loads of storage toiletries were lovely as was the tea making facilities with cups and saucers and shortbread The hot water didn't get hot enough and breakfast was a bit minimal.......
.there was no fruit either fresh or stewed or even from a tin (grapefruit segments for example) at breakfast and no patisserie eg croissants or oatcakes
- Thomas (9/5): Stayed for work and was a nice end to the day. - Very nice, friendly staff. Lovely evening meal and a great breakfast.
- Steven (9/5): A relaxing 3 day stay on a quiet corner of Lewis. - The food was excellent and the staff were super attentive
- Sandra (9/5): Loved it! - People Location Restaurant-food TV didn’t work and poor selection of channels. Helpful waitress got it going
- Steffen (10/5): Very comfortable stay, quiet rooms, very good meals and breakfast and super friendly staff. - Super friendly staff, well cooked dinners and breakfasts, comfortable room and modern bathroom.

Thourouly enjoyable 2 nights stay.
- Glenn (8/5): Clean, well run, good hotel - Hotel very clean, staff friendly and accommodating
Good sized rooms
Good breakfast
Would stay again For us it was a little out of Stornoway where we were working but I’d still stay again as benefits outweigh a 20 min drive
- Graeme (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (9/5): Great stay at the Borve hotel. Spacious room and spotless. Dinner and breakfast excellent. - Very spacious room with a comfortable bed. Spotless. Lovely modern bathroom with an actual bath!!
Dinner and breakfast excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
- James (9/5): Lovely, breakfast and dinner. Staff friendly and helpful. - Lovely, breakfast and dinner. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Baker (10/5): Great place! - The location was great - enroute of the Hebridean Way. Breakfast was very good though no fresh fruit available. The evening meals were varied, delicious, and reasonably priced. There was a dry covered area for our bikes. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. N/A
- Kris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brya (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was good. We stayed one of the chalets and the heating was up high and you couldn't turn it off/down? So had to have windows open.
We found the hotel a bit souless and the decor was strange using a large backdrop on London when you are in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland?
- Angela (10/5): Excellent Staff! Delicious Meals. - Staff was fantastic. Meals were delicious. They did our laundry for us and followed all our very specific requests. :-) We were in Scotland for 17 days and this was our favorite location out of 8 locations. We wished we were staying there longer.
- Szymon (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (8/5): Great hotel and location for our needs. - Staff was great!
- John (10/5): Perfect getaway, kids and wife happy - Had dinner and was lovely, breakfast was amazing. Happy with our stay. Would highly recommend for a getaway
- Ines (8/5): Very good - Big, comfortable room, nice modern bathroom, great food in the restaurant, breakfast variety okay. There is also a bar you can go to in the evening. Directly at the main road, so easy access. A bit too expensive.
- Alasdair (1/5): DREADFUL - The bed was clean and comfortable Broken window so room was always cold and wind blowing in. Room was not serviced during entire stay allowing for Sunday day of rest on the island. Water at bath/shower was at best tepid. The hotel is atmosphere less and like a working man’s club in the bar. The description of country house hotel could not be further from the truth. No apology. Manageress didn’t care about my complaint and although took a token reduction from my bill it in no way compensated for the bad experience this establishment delivered.
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julian (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - nice big room and comfortable bed.
quiet area and very remote. it was nice but the food was just ok
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (8/5): Very nice new place - A very nice new property, on a lonely side of the island but there's a great restaurant so never fear, you'll eat well. Heartily recommended.
- Margaret (7/5): Good - spacious and clean and comfortable quite sparkly decorated in public areas
- Paul (9/5): Excellent Location and Great Quality - The property has a high quality feel. The furnishings are superb and overall there’s a comfortable feel.
Food was excellent and well presented. Staff very friendly. My room was quite close to the reception / bar area and I could hear some music but I would not describe it as intrusive and it stopped at a reasonable time. I’m sure other rooms would be fine.
- Wim (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): EXCELLENT SERVICE ALL ROUND - ROOM & BREAKFAST NOTHING
- Clare (8/5): Very good -
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - Good sized twin room and en suite so room to move around. Good parking. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
- Jill (8/5): Very good -
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional all round - Nothing to dislike. Superb all round Nothing
- Kaye (7/5): Good - There was a nice breakfast with a good selection. the morning staff was great. Room was large and clean, beds comfortable. Hotel is nice but thought it was expensive. If you wanted to stay on site, there was a bar and restaurant so you didn't have to leave if you didn't want to. For some reason we had a handicap bathroom. We made it work but everything was low. Location wasn't quite what was expected but our fault for not understanding. The afternoon staff was not very helpful with our questions/confusion/needs. The same person at check in managed the bar and so service was slow.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - Very clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food. Would love to stay again. Nothing
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - Had breakfast and evening meal. The food was excellent and the staff so friendly, informed us of places of interest and an insight into crofting life on the Island. The occupant of the room above walked about most of the night that kept us awake.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (8/5): Nice wee place, brilliant breakfast! - Spotless chalet and staff were very helpful. Location was nice as you could see the sea. No cleaning materials provided in the chalet and the decor was a bit bare, but we did call reception and they said that cleaning materials should have been provided and brought some over for us.
- Iain (10/5): A great place to use to visit may of the northern island sites - The room was really huge and very comfortable The bar downstairs was a little noisy, but if you remember to close the stairway door at the top, then any noise stopped.
- Lynsey (10/5): Exceptional - Dinner was delicious and great value! Room was lovely with comfortable beds and plenty storage. Good shower too and breakfast was fantastic. Would stay here again.
- Perminder (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting, lovely, clean, comfortable room. We really enjoyed our one night stay, shame our ferry departure was early; we had to leave at 5:30 am, we didn't get experience breakfast. But continental breakfast was available for those departing early. Other than missing breakfast because of circumstance, all was good.
- Shaunmckay87 (10/5): Fantastic, excellent WILL BE BACK - Fantastic service provided, went above and beyond for us after a long few days working and travelling could not ask for a better service. N/A
