Nada

- Heinz (9/5): sehr gut - Tolles Frühstück, sehr nette Vermieter

- Brian (10/5): -
- carmen (10/5): Super nice property and great location - The property was super nice, clean and unique. We stayed in one of gazebo cabin, the view of the balcony was overlooking the forest and very nice. We felt as if we had our one space. Excellent pool areas. Breakfast was tasty. Great location to beach and other activities. Thomas answered many questions on the area before and during our stay. Highly recommend. Wish we had more time. All was good
- Curtis (10/5): - Lush and gorgeous hillside property, exceptionally clean and well maintained by longtime French owner and crew. Very nice and private cabins with nice amenities including patios. Excellent breakfasts. 10 minutes from the very small town of Tambour, and feels very secluded.
- Tom (10/5): -

- Caroline (10/5): Beautiful place with amazing nature - This place is beautiful! You can see how much effort and attention they put into it. By the nature, but with comfort and respecting the environment. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Some of the cabins have a outside bathroom- it was not a big issue for us, but going out in the rain can be annoying.
- Maria (10/5): Thomas is a great host and the resort is stunning - Thomas is a wonderful host. Always there to help you and give recommendations.
The layout of the lodges make for a very private and peaceful stay. Lucky enough to have the pool next to our room to ourselves the whole time.
Stunning resort. Thomas has done a great job! We booked here for the tortuga island tour only to realise the boats go from montezuma so didn’t really need to be in tambor area at all in the end. There is very little around it or nearby and we didn’t have a car so would have felt stranded had we started any longer. No fault of the accommodation, just our own lack of research.
Rien
- Jose David (8/5): Buena estancia.
Gran amabilidad y buen desayuno. Sin dudas volveríamos.
- Martha (10/5): Tolle zwei Tage dort erleben dürfen.
Volveremos a ir
- David (10/5): Great place for Pura vida. - Beautiful and great location for local attractions. Lots of birds. A coati joined us for breakfast. Thomas is a great host. Breakfast was very good. Easy to miss it in the dark.
- Tomáš (10/5): Neobvykle, ale velmi zajimave ubytovani - Super majitel, ochotny, mily a pratelsky.
Skvele udrzovana cistota na celem pozemku.
2 ciste bazeny.
Velke snidane s hodne ovocem.
Moznost objednat masaze nebo dovoz jidla.
Dole v mestecku dobre restaurace a Ary kazdy den v parku.
- Alles was hier gewoon perfect!
Verschillende dieren spotten tijdens ontbijt.
Zwembad.
Ontbijt is prima.
Locatie is iets afgelegen.
- Laura (10/5): Luxury and peace close to Tambor and Montezuma - Una preciosa experiencia de lujo y tranquilidad.
- Ward (10/5): -
- Tiffany (9/5): Superb - The Units are nestled in the rainforest setting ( we went in rainy season so it rained every night) and was beautiful. We were able to see lots of wild life, Howler monkeys, lizards, iguanas, and butterflies and more. The bedrooms had a air conditioner and that was a refreshing end to the hot day temps. Thomas was a gracious and helpful host. He assisted with recommendations as well as directions to get everywhere we wanted to go. Many of the streets aren't labeled so some areas were a bit tricky. Using the Waze app was super helpful too. The property has two refreshing pools as well. Highly recommend this gem! Bring bug spray!!
- Anca (10/5): Away from the crowd in paradise - Le location and the calm ! The owner very nice and always there to help. Not aplicable
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sofia (10/5): - Thomas was a great host. He was super knowledgeable about area and even drove us to a couple places before we decided to rent a car. This is a hidden gem. We got to see monkeys from our balcony in their natural habitat
If you're looking for a quiet romantic getaway, this is it. I do recommend renting a car as things are a bit away. But close enough for day trips.
- Siina (8/5): The best surroundings - The location was very peaceful and pretty. You definitely need a car if you're staying here but it is well worth it. The host is super helpful and sweet. Loved the coatis and the monkeys! Swimming pools, as everything else, were kept clean and pretty. The paths going around the place are beautiful. The breakfast was good, all the fruit was lovely, well worth the price.
The room had everything we could have needed. No bug problems, some ants are to be expected. You have to drive to town for food but the host is very helpful if you want to order in.
The cabin was quite plain but that is of personal taste. Nothing to worry about.
- Søren (10/5): Excellent stay - Thomas the owner is what makes this place so special. He's extremely kind and helpful, ordering food for us for dinner from the nearby restaurants.
The property is beautiful with wildlife and two separate pools. Don't hesitate to book this.
- Eduardo (9/5): Amazing lodge in the middle - Lodge margouillat it’s a must go in Costa Rica. Amazing place held by a very nice owner, Thomas. Very friendly, Cousy and familiar place. Me and my girlfriend love it straight away. It’s not a luxurious place but nothing is missing and everything is well decorated and in balance with evolving nature. The breakfast is good and you get to eat with Quatis. Everything was great, just a little smell of wood mold on the Balinese cabin.
- Deanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaron J (10/5): Loved our stay!!!! - This place is perfect getaway. If you need to get off the grid (although, you still have excellent internet reception) for a bit, fly into San Jose, rent a car, take a ferry and stay at this beautiful little gem. When you get there, you'll be greeted by Thomas, a great host and an even better man. Anything you need, Thomas either has it, or knows how to get it. Carlos, aka Charlie is around for assistance also, if needed. We stayed here for 7 nights, and loved every second. Our villa had a full kitchen, A/C if needed, nice sized private patio and a huge shower. So if you've packed on a few pounds, no worries....you and the significant other can still play in the shower together. We had fun. We'll definitely be back. P.S. be nice to the two Coati's who visit frequently, Wanchu and Pitchu.
- Judit (8/5): Very good - Loved the property, it truly was in the middle of the jungle and away from noisy roads. Breakfast was lovely (both the food and where you ate it), the swimming pool was really refreshing and we loved meeting the property's adorable coatis! The cabin where we stayed was very cute, but smaller than we thought, and the bathroom (although private) was outside, which wasn't super convenient.
- Ismene (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean, quiet, and beautifully surrounded by nature. Also, the host was nice and attentive.
- Dawn (10/5): - Thomas reminds me of the inn keeper in Local Hero. He is warm and welcoming with a wry perspective. He seems like a happy person, perhaps because he has created a little paradise here in Tambor.
- Anthony (9/5): Excellent stay! - Loved the casita, pool, breakfast (extra $12.50/person/day) and most of all Tomas, the owner. He was beyond helpful, offering breakfast, recommendations for dining and ordering dinner from local restaurants for delivery to our casita. The Lodge is truly in the boonies, and given that Google Maps isn't extremely accurate in Costa Rica, it was challenging to find the Lodge the first night.
- Aman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (9/5): Peaceful and beautiful - a great place to stay! - Extremely friendly and helpful service from Thomas. Lovely breakfast, great view from our room and super swimming pool. Very quiet and peaceful. Not a great choice of restaurants to eat at in Tambor but we drove to Montezuma where there was more choice.
- Jade (9/5): Superb - Very hospitable, helpful and friendly owner. My mum and I really enjoyed our stay at the lodge!
- Martin (10/5): - Beautiful Setting lovely facilities two pools
Quiet private safe spacious secluded
Resort only has a few villas don’t feels exclusive in massive grounds
Lovely Villa with private outdoor sitting area
Fabulous breakfast
Host Thomas goes the extra mile nothing is too much for him and he makes you feel very welcome
Plus Loads of hot water
- Chris (10/5): Wonderful location - away from - but close to beach towns. - Lovely complex of individual chalets in beautiful setting built with two nice swimming pools - set 2 or 3 kilometres back from the sea - north of Tambor beach. Host Thomas is exceptional - friendly and offers good local knowledge. WiFi good and breakfast too. Would highly recommend.
- Lh (10/5): A paradise with super friendly host. - Very relaxing setting. None.
- Nadia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. The site is like paradise on earth. The staff, mainly Thomas was exceptionally helpful and so friendly and caring with a huge smile and a great attitude. The breakfast is generous and so refined with a great French touch. We also had the luxury to enjoy a great hot shower, which seems to nlbe quite rare in CR. A great hotel that I strongly recommend. Nothing, everything was exceptional
- Billie (10/5): - Our 3-day stay at Margouillat was a wonderful escape. It is a beautiful property in the middle of the jungle with gorgeous views. The swimming pools are a must do. The cabins are spacious—ours had a separate sitting room. It gets our highest recommendation.
- Sebastián (10/5): Exceptional - The room and bathroom were very nice. The pools were relaxing and surrounded by great nature. Thomas was a very hospitable host willing to help with anything related to our trip. Nothing
- Jane (10/5): Fabulous! - Located in a quiet area - very peaceful. We enjoyed driving through a local community to reach Lodge Margouillat. Beautiful grounds - Thomas has created something very special. We were in Tambor bungalow - very spacious; lovely furnishings; wide, comfortable,
bed with lovely bed linen; walk-in closet with shelves and hanging space; good-sized bathroom with large shower area; settee, coffee table, chairs and table in living room area; good-sized fridge/freezer (much bigger than expected); outdoor seating in secluded area. Two lovely pools - we made very good use of these. Thomas was a great host and was very welcoming - he gave useful recommendations and we enjoyed our conversations with him. We ate at Al Chile 4 times - good food, cheap, and where locals also eat. We had 5 nights at Lodge Margouillet. Although the breakfast was good (fruit juice; coffee; toast and jams; fruit - pineapple, papaya and watermelon; banana loaf; eggs - scrambled or fried) it was the same every day. It became a bit repetitive for us - some variety would have been appreciated. We couldn't get any hot water in the shower, though with the humidity there, a cold shower was OK!
- James (10/5): Rainforest retreat. - Thomas has created a mini-Eden on a tropical hill top. Very serene place to stay, immersed in nature.
- Tiffany (10/5): Amazing stay! - This place was amazing! The owner was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the pool was refreshing. Saw monkeys, a coati and a scarlet macaw on property. The bed was very comfortable and the property was beautiful. I can not say enough great things about this place!
- Brian (10/5): Beautiful property and amazing host. - Thomas was an amazing host, very nice and attentive to giving us a great experience. The grounds were beautiful!
- Kailey (9/5): Located in a remote area filled with natural beauty and a warm welcome - The location of the property was remote, which was exactly what we were looking for to start our trip. Thomas, the owner of the property, was an incredibly hospitable host who made us feel like we were staying with a close friend. He provided us with everything we needed to be comfortable, including towels for both the pool and shower, and other items we may have forgotten to bring. Additionally, he gave us many helpful suggestions for tours, food, and anything else we wanted to know. We had the property all to ourselves for the first day, which made it feel like our own personal oasis. The property boasts two pools - one warmer than the other (best enjoyed later in the evening) and one that was perfect for cooling off during the day. Each day we were provided with breakfast (toast, jam, juice, coffee/tea and fresh fruits). Nothing, it was exactly what we anticipated and was even lovelier than we had hoped.
- Jenni (10/5): Exceptional - The explanations by Thomas at the beginning were inspiring. The details of his luxury and very clean and secure resort were outstanding. We experienced more wildlife (animals) in his resort than in the guided tours around the country. We stayed 5 days and were pleased to go back to this oasis every evening. There is nothing negative at all
- April (10/5): - Thomas was great! Very kind and went out of his way to make sure we had a good stay. Beautiful property where we saw beautiful birds, butterflies and monkeys.
- Juliana (10/5): We would return again - Lodge Margouillat was an oasis for us. We spent a month in Costa Rica and loved our stay at the lodge. It felt remote and isolated but it was a short drive to beach towns all around the area.
- P. (10/5): - Private, cozy, quiet, and relaxing environment. Thomas was a very knowledgeable and generous host. Excellent accommodation for birders as there is many unpaved roads that take you to different birding habitats 5 to 20 minutes from the lodge - beaches to mountains. Definitely worth staying many nights to explore the southern part of the peninsula (Paquera to Cabo Blanco and beyond).
- John (10/5): A luxurious lodge - The Lodge was absolutely stunning. The sheets on the bed and the towels for the pool and bathroom were very plush and soft. The rooms had sitting areas that were private and nestled in the forest. The grounds were well maintained and lit at night. The two pools were beautiful as well as refreshing and very close to our room. I really enjoyed the morning breakfast often listening to the birds or a family of monkeys that enjoy the lodge as well. It was such an amazing experience it is difficult to come up with anything I didn't like. The only negative is now the expectations for other accommodations have increased.
- Jannik (10/5): Exceptional - Thanks Thomas for the amazing stay! Definitely will come back again soon.
- Ian (10/5): Beautiful place to stay! The owner is so kind and the breakfast was great! Highly recommend. - Beautiful property. Clean room and lovely breakfast. Nothing.
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect peace and privacy in stunning location. - The accommodation was stunning and set in beautiful surroundings. The owner took great pride in his accomplishment having built it all himself and deservedly as it really was amazing. We enjoyed the 2 pools and the quiet surroundings and the very private balcony. Maybe a few more sunbeds around the bottom pool as there were only two and they were always in use.
- Wendy (10/5): Wonderful place to stay to truly relax - Didn't want to leave. Stayed four nights and could easily have stayed longer. The owner is French and so lovely and helpful. Accommodation was so well done, being set in beautiful gardens with 2 pools. The lodge room was so comfortable, beautifully laid out, excellent shower, and well thought out cooking area. The location is amazing, near Tambor Beach, which is beautiful and full of wildlife. Scarlet macaws on the beach were a highlight. Also close to Curu National Park, which rated very highly out of the 10 parks we visited in total. Excellent pizza place at bottom of the road with proper wood burning oven. Can't fault the place. Strongly recommend staying here. Have nothing negative to say. Loved it all.
- Malorie (10/5): Best place to stay in Costa Rica! - My fiancée and I absolutely LOVED this beautiful lodge and the service here was incredible! It was one of our favorite places we stayed in Costa Rica by far and it was so neat to be submerged in the jungle nature while still feeling spoiled and serene. The howler monkeys like to make the most noise at night which can make it a little hard to sleep for some but it was also very cool to be right alongside their habitat. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay there again ourselves!
- Larisa (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place, jungle and comfort are combined together! Very friendly owner, great breakfast, very impressive villas, excellent pool! We did not want to leave!
- Simona (10/5): Exceptional - It was amazing stay, very quiet, very beautiful. It was a bit faraway from restaurants
- Nathalie (10/5): Perfect holiday base - Property easy to find. Warm welcome. Gorgeous grounds. Bungalows are secluded and quiet with two pools and a bar on your doorstep. Only thing that surprised me: towels changed everyday.
Excellent holiday base, mingling peace and quick access to services (supermarkets, restaurants, fuel). Lovely safe and clean beaches (minimal waves).
Recommend Curú reserve. Bijou sized, easy walks, wildlife and paradise beach.
Best CR place so far!
- Alexandra (10/5): Stunning - Amazing accomodation and an amazing host.
Very welcoming place, beautiful surroundings with amazing nature, very clean room and very comfortable bed.
- Terence (10/5): Lodge Margouillait - Amazing location. Thomas is a fantastic host. If you want jungle and a clean luxury location it's perfect.
- Angela (10/5): Loved it - The standard of accommodation is excellent and the attention to detail throughout is very noticeable. Breakfast is good and Thomas is such a brilliant host. If you are looking for peace and quiet surrounded by nature then this is the place to be. You will need to have a decent vehicle as it is a few miles from any places to eat and any beaches. Need to drive for restaurants but if you want to cook or have a take away delivered then excellent facilities are available.
- Janet (9/5): Would stay again for longer - great place! - Every detail was exquisite and high class. A bit off the beaten path
- Carlos (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer. Regret not booking sooner. - Beautiful grounds and excellent host. Howler monkeys and nature all around you. 2 bedroom lodge was incredible. N/A
- Jill (6/5): more attention could be paid to the details but good basics. - The pool area was nice. We enjoyed seeing lots of monkeys and birds and a friendly coati.
the room was very spacious and had a nice patio and garden.
breakfast was fresh. coffee could have been better.
Thomas, our host, was very personable. there was an odd smell to our room. The sheets were awful and the mattress seemed plastic covered. There was no Wi-Fi for most of our stay. The room was rather dark.
- Melanie (9/5): Nice, quiet place in wonderful surrounding - Thomas is a lovely host and has built a beautiful facility. We were lucky enough to be the only guests and received a free room upgrade from Thomas. The breakfast is very extensive and we had a choice of different dishes every day.
The lodge is in a quiet location. You have to be aware that the lodge is a bit remote and there is nothing within walking distance. However, 2 restaurants also delivered food to the lodge (but we didn't try this).
The room was clean and the grounds well maintained. You can observe a lot of animals in the lodge for example monkeys, coatis or birds. The room and all the fabric materials smelled a bit musty, which is understandable in the rainy season. However, the lodge is not cheap, so a fresh smell would be great.
