Guest Reviews
- C2026VVcarolinef (2/5): Loud thumping music and cold brekkie - Booked to stay for 2 nights (Fri & Sat), we were warned on check in there would be a DJ in the bar downstairs till midnight, well our room vibrated to a horrendous thump thump beat till midnight (they provide ear plugs but they were useless), 2nd night another DJ that lasted till 12.40am. Very poor sleep.
Then we had a horrible sewage smell in our en-suite, we reported, it was temporarily sorted, but came back.
To be honest the rooms were lovely and comfy just a crap sleep and horrific banging music. It was such a shame, not a home from home pleasant experience. Breakfast included was cold on both mornings and waiting time was quite lengthy, (would have been delicious if had been hot and on hot plates).
- Curious28785583856 (10/5): A lovely lunch-well worth a visit. - Lovely food-great decor/ atmosphere and the woman who looked after us( took us to our seats/ took our order etc) is a real asset to your business. My friend and I both commented on how welcoming and friendly she was-and very efficient. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten her name( maybe Liz?)-long blonde hair. We were there for lunch yesterday at mid-day. Hope that helps to identify her. She deserves to be acknowledged.
I would definitely recommend this place-we both really enjoyed our visit.
- W8940KAdaver (10/5): Fab Pub based B&B in central Shrewsbury - Great location as super central for Shrewsbury. The Loopy Shrew is a good pub, and the Sleepy Shrew is above it with nice rooms, comfy bed and a fab breakfast (in the pub) thrown in. Would recommend.
- Thom (8/5): - Last minute booking after a long day, and the staff was friendly and accommodating even as I arrived as the cafe/bar was exploding into action.
- Erin (10/5): - Perfect!
- Peter (10/5): Great Hotel - Lovely hotel, great location and really nice breakfast. Just be aware loud DJ until 12 Friday and Saturday,if you want an early night.
- Harry (10/5): - Great Value with breakfast included.
Clean Room.
Great, buzzing atmosphere on Saturday night.
Nice spot for a weekender.
Will return when next in Shrewsbury
- jeanette (10/5): - Friendly service excellent night's sleep. No noise from the bar. Great room with outside sitting space. Shower powerful and hot. Breakfast great choices excellent fresh coffee and fresh orange juice. Would highly recommend and stay again 10/10. Thank you.
- gwenda_owen1 (8/5): Great food, nice rooms but perhaps offering accommodation and discos conflicting - Stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night. Quirky rooms, spotlessly clean with everything you need although some milk pods would be helpful. We were on the top floor and there were a lot of narrow steps - we managed but some may find it difficult. Breakfast was superb. The only downside was the disco from 8 till midnight both nights which affected sleep quality. This means that despite being regular visitors to Shrewsbury we wouldn’t opt to stay here again but we will definitley be back for some meals with the family.
- Mark (10/5): Lovely B&B in town centre - Had one night in a single on B&B basis while visiting family for a night out.
Building is a pub in an old building with the upper rooms converted to accommodation. Although the room was small it was a masterpiece of how to use space and did. Not feel cramped in any way. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. With the property being on a main thoroughfare and a very busy pub a nice touch was the provision of earplugs.
Breakfast was served in a restaurant area at the back of the pub. Unlike most hotel breakfasts you choose from a menu and it’s cooked fresh for you and was top quality.
Staff were lovely, but a note of caution for nervous types there are no staff on site overnight, but a telephone number is provided in case of emergency.
There is no onsite parking, but a public car park is available across the road. I travelled by train and the station is 10 minutes walk.
- DALE (10/5): The Loopy Shrew - Very Satisfied , food is fantastic, good portions and good choice ,hotel staff went the extra mile to make sure I totally enjoyed my stay, The Loopy Shrew is well situated in Shrewsbury Town ,for me I will continue to make my stay at The Loopy Shrew as and when I visit Shrewsbury and would reccomend it to any one who visits .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable, great location, excellent service.
- Darren (10/5): - Excellent staff. Great location
Clean and tidy bedroom
- Sara (10/5): - I would have liked more nutritious vegetarian and vegan options sych as salads with grains, pulses and beans.
- Bryan (10/5): Fabulous place - Great location. Inviting exterior. Friendly welcome. Compact but comfortable room with everything you could need, including a good fan, hairdryer and iron. Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order and served with a smile. Absolutely could not fault anything about our stay and would definitely recommend
- Hannah (8/5): - Lovely staff and comfy bed.
- Gary (8/5): - Very well located specious friendly staff would return again good breakfast omly one thing on a negative side i was chaged £12 30 for a glass of wine that was with my 10% discount off a rip off
- michele (10/5): the loopy agree - The rooms were lovely and comfortable, the staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was amazing,
Will highly recommend
- Amanda (10/5): - We would definitely stay at the Loopy Shrew again. Great value for money. Our room and bathroom were very clean, quiet and comfortable. We heard nothing from the pub below. The location is great, with very short walks to beautiful areas of town. There was a lovely array of breakfast choices included for free with the room charge; we had vegetarian eggs Benedict, coffee/tea & juice. Our main suggestion is to provide a standing fan on warmer evenings. Also, the comfy duvet was just too hot so a plain sheet would have been great.
- pugo13 (2/5): Not a good experience after high expectations - Very expensive, waited a long time for our food and 3 out of 6 meals were not cooked properly really disappointed 😑
There's received their starters and mains before us.
- PETER ANTHONY (8/5): Overpriced Hotel - Rooms described as Boutique, but I found nothing special about my room. The bathroom was small and claustrophobic.
The inclusive breakfast was excellent.
Parking is very expensive and the car park local to the hotel is a max 2 hour stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent, but not a seamless - Decor is nice, location is good. Loopy Shrew is a full-on bar so if you want to get to sleep before midnight on a weekend, you might struggle here. Matress was very comfy, drains a bit smelly in the bathroom. Breakfast was good, but staff seemed a little rushed. Check out was confusing, due to an issue on their / Expedia's booking system they temporarily spooked us into thinking we hadn't paid, when we most definitely had. We got a great deal, so overall are happy... had it been full price - not sure we would have been.
- Amy (10/5): - Staff were experienced and very friendly. Rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
- Scott (8/5): Clean Comfy, Good service, fair price - Very nice hotel comfy and clean staff were accommodating the breakfast in the morning was very good. One thing I’d note is use the ear plugs left on the glass jar next to the bed, the high street can get busy in the early hours.
- susanmO1575XD (8/5): Very pleasant, central - Good hotel very central, very busy bar don’t go here if you want silence, saying that the chattering below didn’t keep me awake. Rooms and stairways could do with a lick of paint but the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was freshly cooked and very good quality
- Julian (4/5): - The bedding smelt musty / greasy.
Noisy music from the bar below the room was very disruptive.
Noise from other residents was disruptive.
Bathroom tiling around bath shower was badly maintained / dirty.
Bathroom door had dropped and was badly scraping on the floor.
Communal areas / stairs are very scruffy.
Coffee at breakfast was undrinkable.
- Roving15620531942 (6/5): Great bar and pub disappointing rooms - Hotel room was disapointing for the price we paid, the bathroom had notices warning about the hot water, it was not hot it was scalding this needs to be addressed as a matter of safety, guests are advised to keep bathroom door closed as the steam could set off the fire alarm, it was a bit disconcerting that there are no staff on the premises during the night only guests. We appreciate that it is a very old and quirky building and this adds to the charm, on a positive note the bed was very comfy and the breakfast on both mornings freshly cooked and excellent, we will definitely visit again for a drink and food but would not stay in the hotel.
- Amanda (6/5): Alot of noise very early on - We arrived and had to wait quite a while for someone to acknowledge us, once they did the young girl was very polite and we managed to book in early. The darwin room was smaller than expected but clean and generally nice. Breakfast was nice and they accommodated my request for a tailor made breakfast. The downside there are only bed side and a dressing table light which dont light the room hardly at all. The hot water tap in the bathroom sink is enough to scald you and the toilet had water running all night. The even worse bit was the bin wagon at 4 a.m which went up and down the street, followed by an early morning delivery at 5.30 a.m somewhere very close as the noise and banging was terrible. This meant we had no sleep 4 a.m I complained to management and was told i had come to a hotel in the town centre and should expect noise and had no other complaints ! This i know is not true as i have since looked further on trip advisor and seen several ! Whilst I acknowledge i am staying in a busy town centre and there will be noise i hadnt anticipated a bin wagon at that ridiculous time, this isnt the hotels fault but you should be made aware of this when booking as it will be a weekly occurance. So overall a disappointing stay.
- Sonia (10/5): - Had a great stay. The breakfast was fabulous
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not what the reviews implied - Really not what I was expecting.
It started off poorly when the bouncers tried to stop me getting into the loopy shrew because I had a bag, once I was finally in it was so loud with music that it took 10 minutes for them to get to me.
The room itself was nice enough on the face of it, but the music was so loud until about 1am.
The toilet was near impossible to flush, taking 10 or so attempts each time, as well as the seat being damaged. You also had to duck super low in order to actually get to it in the first place.
The blind in the bathroom wouldn’t go down, and the window to the Main Street was directly opposite shower so I couldn’t even take a shower without flashing the world.
Lastly, a fire alarm went off around midnight, we got out and waited but no one bothered to tell us what was going on or apologise.
- John (6/5): Mixed bag but lots of positives. - Room was clean and tidy but tired and very small (Wyle Cop). Difficult to get round the bed when trying to get dressed. Bed was comfortable though.
Breakfast was excellent as was the service and the Loopy Shrew bar in the evening. DJ is on until way after midnight so pointless going to bed on first floor until after this.
Bar and restaurant staff were really hardworking and professional. We would stay again but only if we could get a room on the second floor or higher…noise was too much.
- Janet (10/5): - Great place to say, excellent Staff special mention to Adam who made our stay.
- Y7682YWvanessam (10/5): Friends relaxing in Shrewsbury - Third visit this year. Feels like coming home 🏡
Been coming to stay in Shrewsbury for short breaks ove the last 10 years. This is without a doubt the most comfortable friendly place to stay.Lesley keeps the rooms immaculate and is happy to chat.Adam is so lively and fun he makes for a great atmosphere and Gemma and Maliha who served us were great. All staff we met are a credit and certainly assets to this business. Thankyou.
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely room above a lively bar - Nice clean room with a good selection of tea and coffee, miniature toiletries in the bathroom and a comfy bed. Lovely breakfast with good options for vegetarian and vegan diets.
It is a bar with rooms above so just be aware that especially if staying fri or sat night it is going to be noisy. (They do provide complimentary ear plugs!)
- David (10/5): - Lovely place - loved the originality of the building. Fantastic food - evening meal and brilliant breakfasts. Helpful, cheerful and efficient staff. Just the general ambiance and thoughtfulness. Would definitely book again.
- Philipa (8/5): - A great central location in a lively pub with great staff and food. The room itself is looking a bit tired and needs a refresh and a good carpet clean but was a good size and bed was comfortable.
- Lorna (10/5): - I like the green front! Staff were great ! Food was delicious! Only problem narrow stairs to 2 nd floor attic!
Lovely walking area for sailboat Morgan, market, Quarry and train and big mall and Tesco in 10 minutes up the hill! Lovely view from front window! Decent people passing! I did not need an alarm at 5 am a BIRD CAWS LOULDY! Very fully I thought! Late at night there is a code to enter no staff
- Antony (10/5): - Loved it
Will be staying again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing rooms. - Friendly staff, disappointing room that did not meet expectations of the photos; poor value for money. Good breakfast.
- Andrew (8/5): Shrewsbury, start of the Heart of Wales rail line - Central location. Needed to get here to go on rail line. Beautiful town, lovely walks and historic buildings
- Voyager820608 (4/5): A long way short of living up to the website photos - Not a cheap place to stay (£170 per night with advance non refundable booking), but the photos gave a great impression and the website looked very professional.
We arrived at 4pm to be greeted by a packed bar, pools of vomit on the pavement outside and an obstacle course to get our cases through to the narrow staircase up to the rooms (we had to ask a few drinkers to move their chairs so we could get through). The noise was incredibly loud upstairs.
The room was large, but very tired and with an uneven floor meaning the bed sloped to one side (2 singles zipped together). The bathroom was mouldy, with paint peeling and not good at all - the extractor didn't work. The shower was an over bath fitting with scalding water dripping from the hot tap on to your feet.
After our evening out with the family (a birthday party), we arrived back, after navigating many more pavement pools of vomit to even louder heavy beat music that continued until 12.30am - we should have guessed there was an issue as they provide packs of earplugs!
6.30am the huge kitchen extractor outside the bedroom window starts up, making a Sunday relaxing start impossible - so an early shower with scalded feet!
Not great, and honestly one of the least restful places we've ever stayed, at quite a premium price for the privilege. Great for central Shrewsbury, but next time it'll be Premier Inn or similar.
Communications from the establishment were dire - we never received a receipt for our booking or confirmation, despite 3 separate emails asking for them, however we did receive automatic replies saying that we were important and someone would get back to us within 24 hours. Something definitely needs to change.
I'll finish on a high note though - the breakfast was absolutely excellent and one of the best hotel full breakfasts we've had.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Loopy shrew - Room very hot and unable to open windows. On first night only one bath towel and no bath mat so used hand towel as mat. Shower over bath had no grabrail and floor of bath very slippery which was extremely dangerous. Quite a bit of mould over bath.
- Alan (10/5): - Bed room should only be a single vey small no chair
- J9077DAdenises (10/5): Great little place - Loved staying here - great location. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Great breakfast - good quality local ingredients. Comfortable room ….bathroom was a bit tired but spotlessly clean. Also ate in the restaurant in the evening - superb menu and wine list
- rachelholf (8/5): Perfectly situated - We booked a 1 night break at The Loopy Shrew. The venue is within walking distance of the train station and is perfectly situated to access all areas of the town. We were able to check in early. The room was clean, nicely decorated with a lovely comfortable bed. We did experience some noise (from the bar downstairs), but nothing major and certainly didn't impact on our ability to have a good night's sleep (ear plugs are also provided). The breakfast was lovely and the staff helpful and friendly. Would definitely return
- Michelle (10/5): - Stayed with my fiancé for our anniversary and had the most amazing stay. Room was lovely, bed was comfy, beautiful breakfast, great bar, accessible, amazing staff and welcoming. Will definitely be returning
- 923clarey (8/5): Worth a drink, meal or overnight stay ! - We stayed overnight at the Loopy Shrew & enjoyed our time there. The first room we were given wasn’t very nice, but we were changed to a better room on the top floor. It was warm, comfortable & had a nice en suite. The room was immaculately clean with comp tea/coffe/water.
The bar area was full all day/evening which indicates how good it is & the atmosphere was vibrant. We had a lovely Spanish white Rioja (which we’re going to try & find to buy!)
Breakfast was fine-not a buffet style, but there is a good menu choice & a glass of juice, plus a hot drink is included. Husband said the full English was very good & my granola was adequate.
For us, the best thing was how polite & professional Ian was in front of house. He gave us his time, moved us without question, was charming & informative - he would be the reason we’d return.
There is no parking, so we used Frankwell car park across the river as the nearest - however there is a loading bay directly outside for dropping bags.
- Christopher (10/5): Tiny - I would say it’s over priced for the price per night I have stayed in better for less I would not go back
- dave321 (4/5): Overnight stay in the Loopy Shrew hotel. - The Loopy Shrew hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Shrewsbury. The food, restaurant & Bar area was exceptional. The staff were also very accommodating.
However, the rooms are advertised as Boutique style. The room where we stayed was appalling, the carpet was terribly stained and badly fitted. The bathroom was so small and decorated to an extremely poor standard.
The overall maintenance was dreadful bad cracks in the ceiling, all the walls were badly scuffed, there was nothing straight in the room & the bathroom door handle did not work or lock properly, this is not Boutique standard.
- Richard (10/5): Good value, good food. - Good value accommodation in central Shrewsbury - pleasant change from Premier Inn
Walkable to everything in town inc UCS. V good bistro style menu too
- Sunshine22775923626 (6/5): Convenient position but not recommended - Our room was clean but very small. We were under the uneven roof which made moving around the room difficult. Breakfast was disappointing. No cereal or juice, toast and very limited choice of meal. Staff were pleasan5 but most seemed clueless. Convenient position but the noise from the bar then the kick out of the drunks kept us awake until ,midnight.
- D1165DXwolfgangs (10/5): The place to stay in Shrewsbury - Great location right in the center of town. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is outstanding and freshly prepared to order. Can’t think of a better place to stay in Shrewsbury. The Loopy Shrew is a charming place.
- Kris (10/5): - This is a lovely hotel! The restaurant has excellent food along with great atmosphere. Our room was great & the bed was very comfortable. The only regret we had was the fact we had to check out early the next morning & couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back!
- Dreamer61396580067 (4/5): Food nice, everything else less than expected. - The food is nice, unfortunately this is were it ends. The rooms are dated and not a reflection of the website. Customer service is not their forte and if there is any sort of problem they really do not care. I will not be returning and would certainly not recommend.
- R4386PBmarkb (10/5): Lovely hotel room, buzzing bar, great breakfast! - Very good stay at the Loopy Shrew. Room 206, Severn, came with a balcony, which would have been great, apart from the incessant rain! It was at the side of the hotel, so it didn’t overlook the busy front street. Very comfortable bed, good hot shower, toiletries included conditioner. Their full English breakfast was delicious! Eggs Benedict included on the b and b rate- equally good. Very friendly staff.
- dorianj1103 (4/5): Ok if your out with the lads. - The hotel is nice and central.
You can park opposite at £3.60 for 2hr max stay.
We stayed overnight in a double room at £140 through booking.com.
The food was lovely and well cooked.
Now for the bad bit: The room was awfull. Damp with wallpaper coming off. Windows didnt close properly. The fan in the bathroom didnt work.
We were woken at 01.00hrs by staff emptying bins and then the kitchen fans being turned on at 06.30. The view from the windows was like a scrap yard.
Staff were ok
- X6942MVsuej (4/5): Sunday roast - We had the Sunday roast I had the Turkey the meat was awful very dry couldn’t eat it the cauliflower cheese came in a separate bowl well I don’t know where the sauce was it was so dry and not very warm so left that so all in all very disappointing .nobody came to our table during the meal to ask how it was .At the end of my meal I was asked if all my meal was all ok ? I had not eaten much of it besides some other vegetables which were fine but did say the meat was awful could not eat it as so dry .The reply was sorry about that and brought the sweet menu I said no thank you .So very disappointing and won’t be eating there again .
- Iain (6/5): - This was intended as a special birthday weekend. Nowhere on the hotels website did it mention rooms with restricted head height but that's what we were given. I have a 6'2" husband and they gave us a 5' sloping bathroom ceiling. I asked for a different room but there were no others available. I understand that if there are no other rooms they can't move us so I didn't think it unreasonable to ask for a discount. Apparently that was not an option and we were offered a bottle of wine as compensation. However, that didn't materialise either.
It's a very 'lively' establishment and there were some very disappointing aspects to out stay but the breakfasts were very tasty.
- Alfiep2001uk (10/5): Perfect hotel with the perfect location for a quality night out. - We travelled here as two couples to celebrate our friend's 40th. We chose this hotel because it's right in the centre of all the action.
I had read some the negative reviews and all I can say is, ignore them. We had never been for a night out in Shrewsbury, but it's an Ideal base.
It's in the perfect location. Fantastic bar area, nice seating outside and just great for a night out on the town.
The rooms are all very quirky which adds to the ambience of the hotel.
Breakfast was lovely! All proper farm shop quality.
I guess my only negative would be that maybe the shower (in our room at least) could do with a bit of a spruce up. The parking situation isn't the best either but we parked up at St Julian's Friars and enjoyed the walk up to the town along the riverbank. It's only 10 minutes and very reasonable rates as well.
Street noise didn't affect us so we didn't have to use the earplugs, we had a comfortable night's sleep, a lovely breakfast and because it's such a perfect location, we'll no doubt be back again.
- Carolyn (10/5): - We had a lovely but too short stay in the beautiful city of Shrewsbury. We loved The Loopy Shrew for breakfast and dinner and the Sleepy Shrew to rest our tired heads. We didn’t find the ear plugs on the first night but were pleased the music from the restaurant ended by 11:30 during the week.
- Anghal (10/5): Great Location - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the quality of accommodation, breakfast and service good value.
The room was well appointed with good quality refreshments and toiletries.
All the staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was very tasty.
It was really nice to be able to enjoy a couple of cocktails before going out for dinner.
As we stayed on a Friday night there was loud music in the bar, but this stopped at midnight.
The only recommendation I would suggest is more efficient fans in the room, as our top floor room did get really warm and the fan provided wasn't really adequate to cool it down sufficiently.
- 548RosiE (6/5): Well located, but if I were staying again I'd check out the other hotels. - Well located, just across from the market hall (worth a visit) but a bit disappointing. The place isn't staffed after around 10, so as a guest in the hotel part you're on your own! Worth noting if you prefer to feel a bit more secure.
We'd booked B&B rates, but were given a menu in the morning telling us what we could have for our "free" breakfast (no, we'd paid for it!) - which didn't include refills of tea/coffee after the first tiny pot, nor cereals. The cooked breakfast was substantial and made with good ingredients. The wifi was feeble, but after I'd commented on it (I neded a connection for a meeting) the staff very kindly gave me the staff wifi code which was fine.
The room had no ventilation whatsoever - no fan in the windowless tiny bathroom, and none of the windows opened. There was a printed warning to keep the bathroom door shut as steam might trigger the alarm system - and indeed it did on our last morning, from someone else's room, shutting down power to the kitchen. It was restored and we had our breakfast, but the hotel do need to think about putting in extractor fans in bedrooms and/or a more sophisticated smoke alarm.
Bed was huge but creaked at the slightest movement. Furniture was otherwise good quality. The huge fan in the wardrobe indicates that it can get hot here in summer under the roof, with no opening windows.
There was some heavy rain and the sttaircase roof leaked.
- MrsDML (8/5): Amazing breakfast - Our second stay 10 months apart.
We love the location, very central.
Greeted by lovely staff .
I have to be honest and say I was hoping our room was slightly better than the last room , as I wanted to have a better experience.
Very clean room but again very poor , miserable bathroom. After a shower the water took ages to drain , so trying to climb out in 5 inches of water
Wallpaper peeling, mouldy , not impressed for £110
Breakfast is superb 10/10
However We won’t stay again until they sort the rooms out
- Arthur (10/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved the hotel and we have many happy memories.
- Q9961UOdavids (10/5): Lovely - We arrived and we were treated by friendly staff, the rooms are lovely and clean and well furnished
They have a good selection of beers and wines
We also used the restaurant for our evening meal the choice of food is good and cooked fresh
The parking could be a bit of a problem, there is a car park opposite £3-60 for 2 hours 8am to 8pm no concessions
But there are other car parks near by
Would definitely stay again
Just one word of caution
There is a step on the first floor which is not strongly marked , and I was the unlucky one who did not notice this and went A O T
We did mention this to the management
But don’t be put off by this
Just tread carefully
- Rev Mervyn (10/5): - A wonderful place to stay and for exploring Shrewsbury. The staff are fantastic, couldn't do enough for us. They even changed room when we mentioned our lovely room at the front being noisy( it's an old listed building with single glazing). Our new room was equally as nice just off the side street!
They even made us breakfast sandwiches as we were leaving early on our last day before the 'breakfast' started!
- janicefildes (6/5): executive room not - We booked two executive rooms for our friends birthday, however when we got there we was given a standard room. We paid a lot of money to stay here so very disappoionted the hotel refused to compensate us. We did enjoy our stay good hotel however it has put us off booking here again
- Stephen (8/5): Great choice - Great location, very friendly staff, nice place. Room (104) was very hot at night, despite window open and fan on. Bed was too soft for our taste. Cold tap very noisy at times when turned on. Great breakfast choices. Overall, it was a great place to stay
- Anita (6/5): An ok hotel - The website looks great but in reality the rooms are not great state, very old, tatty wallpaper, cracks in bathroom, creeks floor boards.
I only stayed a night so glad not longer.
Food was great, service was very slow, pleasant server but waiting a very long time to be seen and served
- Bethan (10/5): Holiday in Shrewsbury - The stay was excellent with friendly and helpful staff.
Amazing food and the breakfast was second to none.
The rooms were clean with good water pressure for showering.
Some rooms were small but that’s just picking holes
- REBECCA (10/5): Fabulous Hotel - Fabulous staff, fabulous hotel, fantastic breakfast.
The rooms was a little tired but very comfortable, clean and warm x
- Laura (10/5): - Good town centre location. Close to amenities & restaurants and bars. Lovely comfortable king size bed with good facilities the room.
- Jennifer (8/5): Short stay - The location, food and service were all good however the accommodation and room were dated and in need of refurbishment also there is excessive noise transfer from the bar into the room which at times made it hard to relax.
- amanda (8/5): - what amazing staff, so friendly and approachable, that alone would make me come back. food was great and i ate what was recommended by the staff!
room was a wee bit noisy but i am old and an early bedder. was quiet by 11pm. well worth the visit
- Stuart (8/5): - Central location, easy access. Great breakfast
- S (10/5): LOVELY STAY - ENJOYED A SHORT STAY. STAFF FRIENDLY. HELPFUL AND PROFESSIONAL.
ROOM COSY AND COMFORTABLE GOOD SELECTION OF TEAS ETC
FOOD EXCELLENT

- Y Y (8/5): A lovely hotel - Staff was great. Helpful, efficient and nice. But with this price, I would expect the hotel room etc. better. It is an old building renovated, but still an old building if u know what i mean. Shower water pressure is very good, a plus vs many other hotels. Food at The Loopy Shrews was great and I just stayed in from dinner to breakfast to mid morning snacks before checking out. Convenient location. I will stay again if the price is right for me next time.
- Richard (10/5): - lovely place.
- Eloise (8/5): - Great stay in a lovely venue. Felt like a real treat - also in an amazing location
- Rebecca (8/5): - I felt the room rate was expensive given how small the room was. Lights flickered and buzzed, bulbs needed replacing and window glass was broken.
- Nigel (10/5): Stay cations - It was excellent loved everything..front line staff very attentive..all good breakfast was superb..
- Steven (4/5): - The property its self was lovely very old and all the charm that comes with that,
But the bed was stupidly noisy everytime me or my partner moved the bed would creak which led to a bad nights sleep, they were other maintenance issues with the room there was a screw sticking out of the bottom of the bath which unfortunately i found via kicking it
- Susan (10/5): Fabulous team - A perfect night away, what a fabulous team at the Loopy Shrew
- Georgina (6/5): - Second room was nice but I needed to be moved due to cleanliness of first room which was disappointing during current global situation
- Zoe (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at The Loopy Shrew, staying in one of the king sized rooms. Lovely layout, decent bathroom. All round a good stay. We ate at
- Verified traveler (10/5): GREAT HOTEL. - Lovely hotel, freindly staff, town centre, breakfast excellent.
Recommended.
- Kevan (8/5): - The hotel is nice and comfortable and in a great position for exploring Shrewsbury, however It does get a little noisy late night but we still slept well. Breakfast was excellent and staff were very attentive despite being kept very busy running the restaurant.
- Christopher (10/5): nother good stay at the Loopy Shrew - Good service and staff helpful.
- Lesley (6/5): Disappointing - The bar area and restaurant, we're lovely ,food was great as was the breakfast .
The accommodation was another mattter ,our first room was small and definitely not the deluxe room we had paid for ,thankfully we complained ,and was given a second room ,which was a bigger size ,but there were lighting that didnt work or needed new bulbs ,tea stains on the walls the blind in the bathroom window didnt close ,you couldnt put yhe light on to go to toilet as everyone would have been able to see in ,as the window was right next to the toilet and facing the main street ,unfortunately the whole accommodation area from the stairs up are in need of a referb ,dirty and grubby, so disappointed, as we thought this was going to be the best hotel of our trip ,the pictures on hotel.com of the rooms ,must have been taken when the rooms were newly decorated, everything in there now is in need of a good referb .i would recommend the bar and food but definitely not the accommodation, the price is far too high for this poor standard
- Jackie (2/5): - The restaurant downstairs was lovely and the food was delicious but the room we had was dirty and in desperate need of a revamp ...only 1 towel in the bathroom on arrival
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The quality of the food.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Food was excellent, both at dinner and breakfast, and service was very good.
The room was a little cramped but was clean and comfortable.
- Kat (8/5): - Nice place, with great staff and an excellent breakfast.
- Jane (10/5): - Lovely spot in Shrewsbury. Great in the evening and lovely breakfast. Only issue was lack of hot water but when we mentioned it they immediately apologised and made a reduction to our bill. Great customer service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A real gem of a small hotel above a bar/restaurant. Only thing keeping it from a 5/5 rating was the mildew/mold smell in our bathroom.
- Robert (8/5): Central location - Central location, nice clean room would definitely stay again
- Susan (10/5): Great name for a hotel! - The town of Shrewsbury is charming with so much to see and small enough to be able to walk everywhere. The Loopy Shrew hotel was lovely, the food was fresh, local and delicious and the staff were so pleasant and friendly we were almost sorry to leave!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Paid £150+ for a one night stay. It was really loud could hear the road sweeper Sunday morning about 7am as well as ongoing building works. Saturday night was also really loud as you could hear music from the bar - definitely not worth the price we paid, pretty disappointing to be honest.
- Mike (8/5): - Good staff, quirky and entertaining pub, good food, fair pricing for accommodation and food. Rooms and communal areas are tired. Needs redecorating and all carpets are desperate for a thorough cleaning or renewal.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location in the centre of town. Our room was at the front of the property on a balmy Bank Holiday Friday night. It was noisy, not the pubs fault but lots of people passing the property in high spirits and traffic noise. We didn't notice the ear-plugs on the bedside tables until the morning which might have been a clue. Very nice breakfast, varied menu, we had Full English which was excellent. Would stay again but would request a room at the back of the property.
