Guest Reviews

Room was quiet, peaceful and comfortable. Ines and Laura were outstanding hosts. Amazing continental breakfast with great coffee and fresh fruit.
Great little bar in the village. We will definitely stay again and next time visit the bodega on site. Nothing!

- Marianne (7/5): Basic country accommodation in a quiet Spanish villate - Quiet location in the countryside and a friendly host. Easy parking Dinner was pretty awful and very basic. No breakfast. Too many flies
- lynda (10/5): - This is a lovely, simple place, full of character. Each room has the name of a grape variety in keeping with this area full of bodegas. You will receive a lovely welcome and great service from your delightful host. Breakfast again is simple but very nice. The best thing was that we dined in the restaurant and had the best steak since we were in Argentina, perfectly cooked. We shared starters and the steak which was just the right amount for us and washed it down with a wine from their bodega. Riquissimo!
- Jackie (10/5): We had a lovely evening and Ines looked after us well, she was an exceptional hostess and I had the best steak I have ev - It was very authentic and quiet Nothing

- Retenaga (5/5): Hotel funcional. - La ubicacion era perfecta para nuestras necesidades. Aparcamiento complicado.
- Oscar (9/5): -
- ana (10/5): -
- ISAULINDO (9/5): -
Personal agradable y educado
- Lennart Olofsson (10/5): - Vackert hus. Fint rum
Trevlig personal (Laura)
Bra mat och utmärkta viner.
Trevlig visning och provsmakning. Dålig wifi.
- Valerie (5/5): Unfortunately not a good stay. - Beautiful setting lovely building We were the only people staying ! Very soft mattresses and no hot water in the evening or morning. No one to greet us when we arrived had to wait a while and as we decided not to have breakfast had to see ourselves out with no one to say goodbye!
- Luis (10/5): Good place to get rid of nerves - Excellent place not only to stop but to stay for a few days.Laura was an outstanding hostess. Food was simple but of exceptional quality and well prepared .Their wines are really good.Too bad our stay was too short. Keep up the good work 👏 nothing.
- Richard (9/5): Excellent good, value for money, family run hotel - Lovely village hotel with very friendly staff Nothing
- Steve (9/5): Rural hotel in quiet village. 2 hours drive from Santander. - Very authentic Spanish country hotel in quiet rural location. Safe parking gor motorcycle. Nothing
- Helen (10/5): Stay in the wine region - Gorgeous old hotel in the wine region. Small but personalized service. The food was great.
- Julie (10/5): Great place, we have stayed there numerous times and food is great ! - It’s perfect for an overnight stop There’s nothing you can do not like
- Jette (9/5): Excellent stay 😃 - Excellent stay - our second time here 🤗 Nice rooms, wonderful diner with Trascasa-wine served in the livingroom with fire in the wood-burning stove. The host Inés showed us the winecellar and told, that wine has been produced for many years, but the house itself, though it looks old and beautiful renovated in Castillian style, is build only 15 years ago - wau well done 👍 Nothing, we liked it all.
- Sonia (10/5): - El.
- Doc (10/5): Absolutely delighted, first class. - We arrived on a cold and chilly evening and was welcomed by a roaring woodburner, marvelous. Ińes was a wonderful hostess. Evening meal was a mixture of tapas which were delightful. The wine was first class and we purchased bottles to take home. A great experience, we will return soon to have a longer stay. Thank you so much Ińes. Nothing, it was perfect.
- Clare (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous hotel, in a picturesque village. Fantastic food and wine with friendly, helpful staff. We definitely want to visit again.
- Thomas (9/5): beautiful, well taken care of house, away from the mainstream of the tourist mainroad. - beautiful location, quiet. Very helpful host, prepared some cheese and cold meat - and some of their own delicious vine - for us even though we arrived after 22.00. liked everything
- Josephine (9/5): Superb - We were delayed en route, but the friendly staff contacted us and were still able to provide a tasty dinner. Lovely comfortable lounge with a log fire burning and a small pool table. A convenient stop just off the motorway. Shower room a bit on the small side.
- Darren (9/5): Excellent staff were fab - Beautiful renovated old farm building in a small quiet town
- Maria (8/5): Very good - Tranquilidade e comodidade do restaurante no local Calor no quarto sem ventilador ou ar condicionado
- D. (7/5): Een prima stop voor onderweg - The accommodation is at a perfect distance from the highway, so if you are passing through, the location is recommended. The people are friendly and the facilities are fine. Our expectations were perhaps a bit too romantic, we thought more of a family atmosphere, but it is actually a small hotel. We found the dinner a bit expensive. Again, the people are friendly, the room is good, it is quiet, the small town is quite nice. See out review
- Angus (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff, home cooked Spanish evening dinner, pretty village with a bar.
Very close to the main route to Santander. Nothing
- Jillian (7/5): Lovely place, stunning environment, Charming family, great food. Apart from getting bitten, perfect. - Thé herdade is beautiful and interesting, and being a large old stone house, it was fabulously cool inside (the temperature outside was 40C).
Our evening meal was delicious and the breakfast was good too. I got quite badly bitten during the night, on my face and neck, on the side I slept on, so not a mosquito.
It also would have been good to have a fan in the bedroom’ as it was a bit hot in the night.
- Philip (9/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely setting and staff. Very enjoyable
- Michael (8/5): Rustic hotel
Spain at its best - The localation in a very I teresting village (town) with lots of history, make time to walk around it's worth it. The quality of the food was excellent. Need to learn how to prosent the food with its excellent but it just throw of the plate? Disappointing.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Great place, people and food. Will go again. - Old property that has been recently refurbished. Great room with view over the country side. Only a few minutes from the motorway but very peaceful and tranquil. Historic charm
- Iain (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Lovely warm welcome. Beautiful location. We sat and had a glass of wine on the terrace and a little stroll. Dinner was very good. Delicious steaks! The waitress was very helpful and speaks excellent English. The staff all seem very happy.
- Gerard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glenvil (9/5): Superb - A rural guest house full of character with an excellent restaurant for dinner and breakfast and a bodega for its own Santamaria wines, all in a charming village just minutes off the A62/A67, 2h15 from Santander Ferry Port. --
- Dubois (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (7/5): A comfortable rest to break up a long journey. - It was all ok considering it was a working vineyard, quiet clean etc. Thought the food let it down in general, and was out of synch price wise with cost of accommodation, a bit basic and expensive.
- Jon (6/5): Pleasant - Staff were friendly, nice restaurant and large communal area although billard table needs renovating. Bedrooom was small and bathroom was very small.
No extractor in bathroom
Bad smell of smoke initially in bathroom
Lightbulb needed to be replaced
Wine advertised in reception for Euro 5.25 was actually Euro 12 !!! Beware.
Restaurant closed early.
No water in room but was found in billiard room.
Would not stay again.
- Cherry (9/5): Good for one night stop after a long drive - In a very rural village, quite and peaceful. A very old building beautifully restored and plenty of character. Dinner a bit pricy
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Charlie (8/5): Very good -
- JR (10/5): Great place to stay - Very pleasant , with nice room (cool) and excellent food.
- Diana (10/5): Amazing! - The place is beautiful and quiet. The staff is very kind and helpful. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. We loved our stay. Food was delicious. Everything was great.
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (9/5): Superb - Lovely village location very convenient for transiting between Portugal and Santander.
- Anthony (8/5): Very good - Excellent dinner and breakfast and very helpful staff. There was no desk and only one chair in the room. Beautiful setting.
- Torben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (10/5): A peaceful and comfortable stay. - The location is a perfect hub for visiting wineries in Ribera Del Duero. Breakfast was quite sufficient and served beautifully in the main dining hall. Dinner was amazing - don't miss the lamb! Quiet surroundings, lots of space to relax - both inside and out. We were well taken care of by the gracious and kind hostess. A great value.
- John (10/5): - Excrllent stay everything superb
- Torben (10/5): Exceptional - I had a very nice stay. Food was exeptionel. There are some walking routes also.
- Barry (8/5): Very good - Rooms and breakfast were very good value, clean and comfortable. In a nice setting, small town, very tidy and clean. Located next to a vineyard Everything was fine
- Vanda (9/5): Quiet rural hotel, great staff - Very quiet rural location. Staff very attentive and helpful. Very nice dinner which consisted of cheese board and tomato salad which was all we needed. Very long drive from the main road to the hotel - full of potholes
- Geoffrey (8/5): Very nice overnight would probably use it again - Located in a tiny village, nothing else to see in the village but a lovely hotel all the same. Pleasant staff, very accommodating, great room with a peaceful view of farmland. We used it as a stopover on route to our return ferry crossing from Santander. Decent menu choices, we both chose fillet steak which was very good and cooked as requested, sadly it was accompanied only by some chips, slightly dissapointed. Some wonderful wines were available from a nearby bodega and we sampled several bottles.
- Bob (10/5): |we would stay again. - The staff was excellent, dinner could not have been better, as were the breakfasts. The village was quiet, with only one place for a drink. Which as OK.
- William (9/5): Superb - Peace and quiet. Food is expensive on site.
- Anne (10/5): Super - Enjoyed the whole experience
- William (8/5): Very good - Peace and quiet. Heavy blankets would have preferred a light duvet on the bed.
- Glenn (10/5): 2 hrs from Santander, ideal location picturesque village setting - location, friendliness of staff, very good meal nothing
- Eric (10/5): - uitstekend
- Peter (10/5): Lovely friendly staff could not have been more helpful, excellent place to stay the night before th - Very nice continental breakfast.
- Glenvil (9/5): Superb -
- Clariana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Su (9/5): It was a peaceful and comfortable stay and we were well fed. - This is a lovely place to stay. We found it quite easily but it may have been a bit more of a challenge in the dark.
The staff were friendly and wanted to help. The language was basic but we managed.
We ate in and had the upstairs room to ourselves. And there was a wood burning stove in the room which was lit for us. All very cosy. We had a bottle of rose wine from their own vineyard.
The room was simple but comfortable. It was warm enough and the water was hot. It was blissfully quiet.
Continental breakfast was very nice, meat, cheese, toast, orange juice, coffee, yoghurt and fruit.
We would love to stay there again.
The photo is the view from our room.
- Oscar (6/5): great staff, great building, terrible wifi and sound proofing in the rooms. Not good enough when your marketing says ‘re - the staff was fantastic, extremely helpful and accommodating, could not fault it. the location what I wanted it the wifi in the room did not reach and could not connect without getting out to the corridor… considering that 4G/5G was very poor in the countryside made impossible to enjoy connection j. the room, which is a must these days
the hotel had a birthday on the evening. it was impossible to sleep until 2am which made my stay miserable since I booked this hotel for peace and quiet. I should have been warned as the lack of acoustic insulation was terrible
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Delightful sophisticated hotel in an accessible, quiet rural location just a couple of km from the motorway The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. A lovely dinner with an excellent bottle of wine and a generous freshly prepared breakfast completed a perfect overnight stop. The hosts provided a warm, friendly welcome and attentive service. We will look forward to going back.
- Susan (10/5): we will be returning on our next trip! - A lovely traditional and locally owned hotel with adjoining bodega. what’s not to love? nothing at all
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Nelson (10/5): Exceptional -
Merci encore
- Robert (9/5): Superb - All was excellent except the evening menu. Breakfast was very good and good value for money. The evening menu was rather limited due to shortages. When complete the menu was more traditional than international.
- Justina (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our stay! This place is so beautiful and authentic, and the surrounding area makes you feel very relaxed. I highly recommend booking this place and also trying some wines produced next doors.
Thank you guys for everything, I would really love to come back :)
- Henry (10/5): A very nice helpful owner. A super place yo staY - Quiet and very nice wine and meal on request. Just off the motor way in a little village. Great! Nothing
