Guest Reviews
- Angela (6/5): - Clean, great location but room small and v basic - no shampoo, soap, quite a stretch for 2 people.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Price Is Right - As budget lodgings go, this is a good one. Normally, this is a dormitory for university students and is staffed by student workers, but it is opened up a few weeks a years for travelers. Think of it as a youth hostel for older adults. Room was small, even by Eruopean standards, but it is ensuite. Location was challenging at times for hired drivers, like Uber. It is possible to walk to wherever you want to go. All keys are electronic and seem new. Ours malfunctioned, which nearly caused a panic.
- Mark (10/5): - Canal Point delivered on all fronts: it was convenient, safe and clean with a kind and helpful staff at the front desk.
- Charles (8/5): Great price - Functional student accommodation. Private bathroom.
- Gareth (10/5): - It was everything we needed and no faff , close to everything perfect
- Dylan (8/5): Good for a short stay! - Very good location, and good for the price. Bed slightly uncomfortable however.
- Wendy-Marie (10/5): Good, friendly, clean - Staff were brilliant on checking in and throughout our stay.
The bed although a 3/4 sized double was big enough for both of us and we are both nearly 6"
The room was clean andvwell presented with private en-suite which was also clean
Not far from shops, cafes and bars
Although its student accommodation there were all types of visitors that we saw and not all students
Would recommend if you are looking for somewhere cheap, friendly and off the main roads. Not far from Edinburgh city centre
- David (8/5): Great trip - Perfect to visit city of Edinburgh
- James (6/5): Poor - The shower had only boiling hot water. When we asked reception she said ‘yeah that’s what you get’. Very poor customer service
- Tracey (6/5): Good overall - Overall we had a good stay and although the room was small it was clean and adequate as a base.
Only issue we had was we had arranged in advance to leave our bags at the property prior to check-in but when we arrived there was noone on reception or answering the phone so we had walked from the station there and still had to use another luggage storage facility.
- Poungpaka (10/5): - Clean. Excellent all round
- Michal (2/5): Avoid it if you can - Shower in my room was visibly broken. Not sure how was this missed during cleaning? I asked for another room, nothing was available but they would apparently fix it "soon" but unable to specify what "soon" means. When I asked for a refund, they told me it's not possible because I booked it through hotels.com. Few seconds later one room is available. Magic :) While waiting at the reception, I witnessed another 3 customers complaining about messy room, dirty sheets, lack of toilet paper. At this point I know this place was a mistake.. Anyway, got my second room. I wouldn't call it clean, toilet seat and the door to underbed storage were broken. Since I was staying for only one night I have just left it..
On the positive side, you can get a decent view out if you are lucky and get upper floor :)
To sum it up: If you want to fully enjoy Edinburgh, avoid this place.
- Carla (10/5): - This property was in the perfect location for everywhere I wanted to go
- Carlo (4/5): - Lenzuola non la lavate bene penso , vi erano in più punti dei peli , cuscini se si possono chiamare cuscini ridotti al lumicino , bagno sporco
- Poungpaka (10/5): - Good all round. Central easy access to placed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely clean basic room with the added bonus of a small kitchen area to make breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pregi, tranquillo e riservato. La Pulizia si può migliorare
- inger (10/5): Nice place. - Nice and clean. Good value for the money. A quiet place The bed needs a top mattress.
Nice stay and about a mile to the very city.
- Anders (8/5): Compact and comfortabe - Would have liked a small soap and a paper mug in the bathroom. Perhaps also a shower mat - and a top mattress on the bed.
Compact and comfortable for a few nights.
- Elyssia (10/5): Great accommodation - Great base for a visit to the fringe.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Felt depressed staying there conditions are disgusting
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very responsive and helpful staff, and excellent location
- Joseph (8/5): Great value close to the city centre - This is standard student accommodation. Considering it's half the price of the standard hotel prices for the local area I would highly recommend it. It's about a 15 min walk to the castle. There is a communal kitchen which is great for making coffee in the morning.
- Catherine (10/5): - Excelllant have already recmmended to friends
- Verified traveler (6/5): Passe fornøyd. - Sluken i dusjen var tett og det var en litt merkelig lukt på rommet. Renhold ikke helt på topp.
- lena (10/5): - Rundresa i Skottland. Roligt att bo i ett typ korridorrum.
Yteffektivt, nyrenoverat, trångt, bra kök.
- Kirsty (6/5): Cheap place to stay - Room was basic and small but good enough for the price. There were no toiletries provided at all not even hand soap which was annoying.
Was fine to stay for a few nights on my own but would be very cramped with two people in the room
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great budget hotel - Great budget hotel close to city center with helpful straff!
- Jegor (8/5): - Need to work more about cleaning in bathroom. Pillows can be more soft
- Verified traveler (10/5): 五星好評 - 前台人員非常親切,五星好評
- Nitya (6/5): - Very small room. No amenities whatsoever.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was extremely nice and welcoming and all smiles.
It's central and easy to find - trains, busses and trams very close by.
Cleaning could perhaps be a little better.
If all you need is a bed and a private room (+ bathroom), this is definitely recommendable!
- Lucia (6/5): - a clean but very essential accomodation, suitable for a short staying and if you want to cook your meals during your journey. Laundry room is a plus.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not specious rooms very umcomfotable stay ovetnight also no toiletries overall very expensive to stay in such a tiny room without anu good facilities.i was told it is a hotel.but they should hsve been informed us ot is a student s room that means i would not booked. In a way i felt that i was cheated.
- David (10/5): - Excellent accomadation it was large enough and very clean
- Matthew (8/5): clean, but beds uncomfortable. - Thing to remember is this place is student accommodation so you get a bed, a wardrobe, a small desk, small private bathroom and not much else. The buildings are modern and very clean though. The mattresses are not comfortable at all unfortunately, but if you just need somewhere to sleep only for a few nights then its perfect. There is a shared kitchen area you can use which does have seating and tables.
- Andrew (8/5): - Good place for a short stay during Edinburgh Fringe.
Comfortable and clean and staff friendly
- Verified traveler (4/5): Was a hostel not a hotel - The staff were very nice but the sheets hadn’t been changed and it was advertised by Expedia as a hotel but it was really student accommodation which was a bit frustrating to find out on arrival
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap and cheerful - Lovely staff helpful. Very basic as we expected for the price. Clean but bed very uncomfortable springs sticking in us as bedding below par. Thin pillows
- Sarah (10/5): Spacious studio flat with great city view - Check in was really smooth - very courteous, helpful and friendly staff member on the desk. We arrived early to leave our luggage and were able to check in a bit early which was great.
- Bazza (6/5): Compact and convenient accommodation in Edinburgh - Very easy to book and at reception, we found the people friendly and informative and happy to help. I was disappoint with the mattress, something easy to fix - I could feel the springs in my body, extremely cheap quality. The communal kitchen was ok, but I found an overflowing bin which remained the same way for 4 days - that would have been easy to fix too, by replacing the bin bag for the guests.
Overall ok and would stay there again if some attention was made to basic issues.
Thank you to the lovely and efficient students at the reception.
- conker (4/5): smelly hotel - I did not attend this hotel but my wife and two others did they were booked in for one night to attend an event but was unable to attend that night so booked another night on entering the room they said it and looked like it had had much better days not worth £50 left the hotel and moved to another not happy
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location to explore the city - Welcoming staff, well organised facilities, particularly appreciated the well furnished shared kitchen and laundrette :)
Walking distance to the town center and to the tram stop not too far off.
- Alison (6/5): - Student accommodation- didn't think it was .Bed was springy Sink leaks and was blocked .Staff very friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - Very friendly greeting at reception. Hotel new. Mainly student accommodation. 200m to restaurants and cafes. No tea coffee in the room. A kitchen but we didn't see it so I can't review. Good security. Good value.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Student accomodation at good prices BUT - Students still around and have no regard for anyone needing a nights sleep. Parties common and drunken singing and loud talking beneath the windows until 4am each night. Did not sleep
- Steve (4/5): Noisy building work - Noisy building work next door completely spoiled stay. The noise would start from 7am (Sat and Sun too) and not finish until late in the evening. The accommodation and service are great but beware at the moment if you like sleeping.
- George (10/5): Night out in Edinburgh. - Good room, Good facilities, within easy walking distance to city centre.
