Guest Reviews
- Karl (8/5): A quiet break with pool - Mixed feelings about this place. We were in a host family house as part of a Spanish immersion program we attended. The kids didn’t like the food at the host home (and it was so loud!!!!), so we moved to this hotel. At Pinocchio, it was very quiet except for bird noises. There is a small pool the kids loved, although the water is always cold due to the altitude. Still, great to keep the kids happy. There are hammocks outside the rooms that are very fun, especially for the kids. They have a refrigerator and cooking area if you need these, along with purified water. There is a restaurant and bar that are ok. Not great. Seems it is a family operation and they are very friendly and were helpful with our Spanish education. We got to watch them put up a memorial for a deceased relative, with explanation of the details. The room is spartan, so bring your own shampoo, soap and if possible, a towel, since there is no maid room service as advertised. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THAT ON HOTELS.COM IT IS LISTED AS BREAKFAST INCLUDED BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE. They demand extra money for this. If we had to do it again, we would have skipped the breakfast and gone to eat somewhere nearby. It’s not like it was a big breakfast buffet like in big city hotels. But it was not bad by any means. There are probably better hotels around but we got this last minute and it was an improvement over where we were staying, since the pool kept the kids occupied. I wouldn’t expect a Ritz hotel here!
- Rito (10/5): - They didn’t want to charge us with the card
- Edwin (10/5): - Bad
- Hugo (2/5): - Servicio de muy mala calidad.
- Javier (10/5): - Bien
- Grace (6/5): - The staff here were very sweet but disorganised. We could rarely find anyone on reception and at first we were told that the advertised free breakfast was not included. We asked again the next day and they confirmed that we were staying for 4 nights and that we could have breakfast included… the food was nice when we did get it. No one cleaned our room for the entire time we were there so we ended up taking the bin down ourselves. There was a small kitchen but we didn’t use it as there was no soap to wash up. Overall ok for the price for just a few nights in San Pedro!
- Pedro (2/5): - When I arrived at the preperty, they told me did not have room for me, lwtting me hanging on New Years' weekend in which everything was full.
Terrible service.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Ellos no van a honrar una reservación. - Tuvimos reservaciones pero ellos las dieron nuestras reservaciones a otras personas. We had reservations through hotels.com, but they gave her reservations away, and we do not have rooms.
- Joseph (2/5): - They don’t use Expedia so there was no room reserved for us so in this case Expedia and this hotel were both useless.
- Eric (8/5): Good value - Good . Very nice staff . Only the WiFi was not working well upstairs
- Leah (4/5): - It was a beautiful property, but when I came in the office manager wanted more money then what was listed on expedia. I heard this same routine repeated with every set of travelers that came in. He claimed there was a mistake on Expedia, but each time the price seemed to increase.
So I'm not sure if there really was a mistake or it was a scam but I wouldn't trust their pricing on here.
Also their phone number isn't connected any more so the expedia agent couldn't get ahold of them.
The restaurant was nice and the view from the roof was lovely.
- Ashley (10/5): - I liked it was in the quiet street, lots of options to eat around. It was affordable for what you got. Lovely roof top with a view, kitchen available.
- Marina (10/5): - .
- Leilani (10/5): - This is a quieter hotel that's to the back of a property. At the front of the property is a restaurant and access to the main route through town.
The rooms are quaint, with a private bathroom for each, and access to their 3rd story rooftop terrace. The staff is attentive but mostly unseen as they're busy running the hotel. They offer great internet connection and comfy beds.
As far as location, it's ideal, as it's a little farther from the town center. There are tiendas and restaurants all around, with a massage center just across the street, Spanish school nearby, and is close to access to the lake that isn't as busy as downtown.
Overall a great stay that supports local Guatemalan's!
- Cloudbird (10/5): Un lugar agradable y seguro para alojarse - Sin dud volvere a alojarme en el Hotel Pinnochios
- Sophie (10/5): - Wonderful stay. The room was great, very well priced. The staff were lovely and always eager to help. Free included breakfast was really nice. Location was good
- Karole L (2/5): Bad management - When I got to the hotel there was no reservation. I suppose the good news is that it was pay at property so I wasn’t charged but this is holiday high season and I could have been stranded. Luckily a Canadian woman saw me looking bereft and led me to an extra room at her apartment complex so it was ok.
- SEBASTIEN (4/5): Booked online, but when at hotel no room left 4 me - Had booked online but when I arrived, the hotel personal said that the hotel was fully booked and that there were no bed left for me. At least they tried to find an alternative at same price, but the alternative was not good enough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is very kind, very familial hotel, cheap and efficient. The restaurent is the best part, excellent food. I'm satisfied.
- Andre (2/5): - I made a reservation but to my surprise when I spoke to the staff they said such reservation didn't exist although I showed them the proof... What's the purpose of having your hotel listed here if you are not going to check it regularly?
