Guest Reviews
- Grecia (10/5): - Amazing! Muy bueno!
- David (6/5): - No habían toallas suficientes y no tenían shampoo
- Mahnaz (2/5): - The entire night dogs barking. After AM the roosters joined dogs with loud noise. We stayed 4th floor which had no hot water to shower and water was barely coming out of shower or faucet. Extremely low water pressure and we didn’t have wifi in 4th floor. The blankets were extremely itchy . Medium friendly staff . Not recommend
- Karen (10/5): - We had a good experience with the hotel. But the staff was a little confused with my family and I hotel room. They were mixing up the rooms.
- jeymi (8/5): - the place is nice from outside and it has modest rooms, I didn't like the fact that I only saw one electrical outlet in the room, bathroom had 0. and no shampoo and conditioner, they only provide bar soap. The room has no ac but they provide me a fan, which help a lot. But overall the place is nice, nice staff, the person in the front was really nice and gave me recommendations ( I ask for ).
- Ana (10/5): - The hotel was quiet and safe, and the personal was very friendly.
- Jose (2/5): - This place is so fake , they show pictures of different hotels and the area to stray people to them, there staff is the worse I have ever experienced in my entire life, having a handicap person traveling with us they don’t care about …. Will never recommend this place that should be removed from Expedia and all platforms.
- EMERSON (8/5): - El staff podría mejorar un poco su servicio en especial el del restaurante
- Yolanda (10/5): Perla Maya - compliments to the staff! extremely friendly we enjoy our short stay! Highly recommend it!
- David (8/5): - The location is very close to town and the hotel ticks all the basics that are needed. I'd stay there again if we return to the lake
- Richard (6/5): Over priced for what we got - Booked a double bed and single bed, was given a 4 bed room. We had to double up one bed on top of the other to make room to walk. The decorative head board on the wall came off the wall when I was on the bed at night. They moved us to proper room the next night. No hair dryer, shampoos, wash cloth, bath Matt for shower, only one outlet in room. We asked and received a fan. Our last night there were ants in the room. We were in the third floor. And these ants bite! Good breakfast included. Cute cats on the property. And the owner/workers tried to accommodate us.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Amazing staff
- Rosa (10/5): - Perla Maya Hotel was in a great location! It was easy and walkable to restaurants. shopping and ferry locations. The hotel staff is very exceptional, they make your stay feel like home. Thank you Jose Manuel, Domingo, Tomas and Daniel for making us feel safe and also thank you kitchen staff Claudia and Michelle for great breakfasts. I will definitely return to this hotel next time I come to Panajachel!
- Bart (8/5): - The property is clean and in a good location... The rooms are small & there are ants in the room. The reception is friendly but slow. Pretty typical for Latin America. The pool is very clean and modest in size, but there is no place to lay out and no furniture to do it on.
- Celia (6/5): - The staff was so amazing and attentive. Our first room had an ant infestation and the bathroom ceiling had mold which caused a smell in the bathroom. There was no extra toilet tissue and you have to ask them for it. There should always extra bathroom tissue in the bathroom especially when 5 people are staying in a room. The mattresses on the bunk beds were super thin and you could feel the wood on your back. Very uncomfortable. The staff saw our first review and immediately offered to move us to a new room. We moved to a new room and the staff was so gracious to move our things while we were at our outings. The second room was nice but the shower was backed up like the first room. The breakfast was the highlight of our stay and the view on the top floor. There were 2 options for breakfast included in our stay both delicious. There is some noise at night from the neighbors, dogs, cats and rooster. The rooster at 12am was really a bummer. It was hard to rest.
I want to express how grateful and amazing the staff were.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Many thing to improve. Far from main street - The best was Mingo and Dani, the receptionists. Super kind and frindly. Breakfast was good also.
But many things to improve. Many Times nobody was at the deskfront in reception. Some mosquitoes there at the reception also. Only 1 plug hidden in the room. Curtains thin, so sun gets in early. Shower is not the best.
- Mynor (6/5): - Pictures online do not match the property. But actual property is quite nice
- Jairo (10/5): Excellent Hotel & Reasonable Price - We stayed one night with my family. The check in was fast and easy, the friendly staff made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended to friends and family
- Miriam (8/5): - It was nice especially the view from the terrace and even from our 3rd floor room. It’s on the one end of town but we didn’t mind walking and it felt safe. Showers took awhile to get hot and low water pressure but nice atmosphere. Perfect midrange option.
- Ingrid (8/5): - Clean, affordable, close to everything. The customer service was great.
- Graham (8/5): - This hotel is better than most of the same standard. The bed linen was changed every day, there was a fresh towel everyday and a new roll of toilet paper regardless as well as new bars of hotel soap. This is quite an exceptional standard for the price of the room. The deep cleaning let it down however. The pool was always looked welcoming and clean but there was nowhere to relax around the pool at all. This was definately a disappointment and I found myself looking for other places that might allow day guests to use their pool. The breakfasts were lovely but there really needs to be more choice. There is American breakfast which is eggs or Guatemalan breakfast which is eggs. I did have to go and find somewhere else a couple of times just to avoid having eggs. Overall it was a lovely stay and is in a nice situation with views of the lake and not too much noise.
- James (10/5): - Great property. Love the flowere
- Fiorella (4/5): - Le falta atención en los detalles y además el
precio no va acorde con lo descuidado que está el lugar
- Tania (10/5): - The View is outstanding service is A
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Hotel room was very basic. Extremely overpriced for the shape of the room. It didn’t even have soap or shampoo only towels. Sliding glass door so no real security. It was a step up from a nice hostel only because it was a private room. Small boutique hotel in San Pedro next night was night and day in terms of amenities and comfort and for SAME price.
- shahriar (2/5): - Perla Maya Hotel was a huge disappointment. The amenities advertised on Expedia were misleading—no towels, soap, shampoo, hairdryer, or even a working TV. The room was outdated, dark, and poorly maintained, with torn, poorly sewn sheets. There were no outlets to charge phones, no heater or AC, and the road to the hotel was a muddy mess, not mentioned anywhere. This place falls far below acceptable standards, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
- Joris (4/5): - Arrived at the hotel and the clerk tried to dump me in a cheap room instead, while I booked a deluxe room. They said the room was already occupied!?!! Not only that owner tried to charge me 20 euro more for a cheaper room. Breakfast and facilities okay but not great. Wifi was very poor.
- Rinelva (6/5): - Base on the photo's that is show on the site this proporty looks great. But we were very disapointed. We got a room and cushions that smell sigarette. The cushions were
- Wendy (10/5): - Nice place
- Lorenzo (8/5): - It was a very pretty property and the staff was great. We just happened to be in a room where we could hear everyone passing by so it was noisy
- Diane (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Perla Maya. The view was amazing. We had a private terrace. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided a good breakfast. There were barking dogs in the neighborhood at night that could be annoying, but that seems common in the area. We would definitely recommend Perla Maya!
- Jose (8/5): - Room spotless,
- Patricia (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, close to the lake, great virws friendly staff
- rene (6/5): - food and staff service was great . Grounds was eco friendly beautiful landscape .
- Cristian (10/5): - The views !!
- Ying (6/5): - The surrounding area is not very clean
- Brenda (10/5): - The road in front of the hotel was not smooth and it looked not safe. but other than that the hotel was very clean.
- rene (8/5): - Friendly staff good service
- Eric (4/5): - Was listed by Expedia as having an elevator, instead no elevator and steep stairs 3 third and fourth floor rooms. Either Expedia is a horrible company or the hotel is lying. Hotel is over 30 years old, never had an elevator and never will. I have a bad back and can't climb stairs. Place is over priced, room was in front of the stairs so heard everyone
- Lizzy (10/5): - Service was exceptional! Breakfast was delicious a d coffee was fresh! Pool is very clean and maintained!
- diana (10/5): - Amazing stay
- Ramon (2/5): They will charge you more! - When I booked the hotel I chose to pay at the property. The hotel were exchanging to quetzales at a very high rate and said we had to pay 5% more if we paid with credit card.
When I mentioned we were not happy they said “if you are not happy here don’t stay here” so we chose to not stay and looked for another hotel.
I’ll give them 0 stars, bathrooms smelled like bleach and the property smell as full of mosquitos. Use this hotel as last option and also bring dollars in cash.
- Robert (10/5): - It is a perfect example of a mom-and-pop hotel that makes its guests feel at home when they are traveling.
Traditional Guatamula Breakfast served HOT and Fresh, was a perfect way to start the day.
- Scott (10/5): Amazing views and rooms for a family vacation! - Staff were amazing and super friendly.
Our kids loved the breakfast, the pool, and the talking parrot that lives at the property.
We loved hanging out on the terrace with wonderful views of the lake.
Area was very safe and we had no concerns walking from the hotel into central Pana. Only had to walk a block or two to find a tuctuc.
It was an amazing stay!
- Adelita (8/5): - The service was hit or miss. When they were available though they were great.
- Luis (8/5): - Kinda noisy with dogs barking and people partying till midnight
- Melissa (10/5): - The staff here was incredibly hospitable and thoughtful. They sincerely want you to enjoy your stay and are kind and sweet. The rooms are basic, but comfortable, and it was a quiet place to stay.
- Tim (6/5): - I ended up here when my other reservation was cancelled. The first room wasn’t very good - rock hard bed and couldn’t open a window to get any fresh air. The second room was better (great view of the volcano) but noisier (barking dogs) Also wifi didn’t reach the room and the shower didn’t have any hot water. Decided to just stick it out. They don’t speak a word of English so led to some confusion over how long I wanted to stay but we managed to sort it out eventually. The pool is nice but could use some lounge chairs so you can hang out there a bit. Breakfast lot was good.
- Kristina (10/5): - A hidden gem. Super clean. Wonderfully dated. A nice roof top terrace. A hearty breakfast.
- May Flor (10/5): - Budget friendly hotel with great and helpful staff and good facilities. View of volcano is great too. Will stay here again.
- Vanessa (4/5): - This hotel is not in a safe location. We moved to a different hotel.
- Gerarda Sarahi (10/5): - Es un hotel limpio, tiene una ubicacion buena cerca del lago, las camas no son muy comodas.
- osbaldo (10/5): - I liked everything very friendly
- Melvin (2/5): - I booked two rooms for 4 adults and 2 kids. We arrived to the property and the staff was rude, they told me that I booked just one room, I had my reservation and confirmation with me, but they didn’t care. I was dissapointed about the way they handle the situation, the lack of customer service was bad, they didn’t even offer options to solve the issue. This is not a free service, we are paying for it, they could do better. At the end I left to find a different hotel.
- Paul (6/5): - Not good location
- Stephany (10/5): - Desayuno exquisito y personal súper amable.
Vistas preciosas!
- Ely (10/5): - Customer service
- Mariano (10/5): - Muy bueno! Rico desayuno y las habitaciones cómodas.
- Amy (10/5): Beautiful stay in Atitlan - We really enjoyed our stay at Perla Maya! The location is beautiful with great views of volcanoes. It is off the beaten path which we enjoyed, as it provided a quiet & peaceful visit and it was amazing to sit outside for a delicious tipico breakfast! Room was clean, we had 4 ppl and it didn't feel too small, bathroom was very clean & spacious!
The staff were very friendly & helpful with recommendations on getting around. Secure parking area is well lit & safe.
- Karen (8/5): - The hotel was away from the main streets and would have thought it would have therefore been quieter but far from if! The noise of either dogs barking and/or cockerels at it throughout various points in the night didn’t make it a restful stay. This wasn’t the hotel’s fault though. Rooms are clean, breakfast was provided which is simple but nice. The staff were friendly but everything in Spanish so bring your translator!
- ARIANA (10/5): - The dirt road we turned into was a bit terrifying not knowing where we were headed, but once we arrived, a young man greeted us w a smile and asked if we were checking in. He led us to the lobby and I was so surprised at the cute and beautiful hotel. Breakfast was great, and the suggestions Jose Manuel gave us to go do where great! I will recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Panajachel!
- Anamaria (6/5): - Great staff
- Ines (2/5): - I never got to stay at the hotel because they gave away the rooms I had reserved through Expedia. Even though Expedia tried to help me get re located it was not possible due to the short time notice
- Líndsay (4/5): - Apparently a inconvenient event with Expedia occur and they couldnt received us the first night. They had to find another place for us to stay the first night. The hotel arrange everything and they handle the situation very good but the uncomfortable moment and surprise was not pleassent.
- Ronda (8/5): - The beds are a little hard. The water was warm and the common area was beautiful. The staff was helpful. At about 5:00Am there was really loud music playing.
- lisa (10/5): Worth the money - Great place, very relaxing
- Simon (8/5): - Walkable to the lake and main hotel area, at the edge of the town near a large parking area. Good panorama view on 3rd floor.
It has a very loud circus next door that stops around 10pm. The shower works but has considerable mould. Bed was clean but hotel shows much evidence of low levels of maintenance.
- Joseph (8/5): - Great location
- Ana (2/5): - Beds are not confortable, check in was terrible, not able to find our booking. Personnel did not understand our requests.
We need to request towels several times.
We requested a change of bed linens because of Bad smell.
Breakfast was not Bad.
Building needs some maintanance.
- Karina (4/5): - No running water morning of check out so could not shower , no wifi, no shampoo , 2 small bars of soap for 4 people , no phone to call front desk so had to walk 2 flights of stairs to talk to someone in office , breakfast was ok, staff does not seem to care when you express your concerns . Not worth it for the price !
- Sujeidy (10/5): - Excellent staff and a beautiful property.
- Otto (2/5): - None
- Claudia (10/5): - I loved the place felt secure, parking in the premises and beautiful view from top floor. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Horrible when I checked in the front desk lady said she didn’t find my reservation through Hotels.com she stated that they don’t use that application only Expedia and another one and she just had her phone no computer to look up my reservation until she called someone and found it. I couldn’t sleep, there was a circus next door by my window and ended at 1030 pm after a dog was barking non-stop past midnight. Parking was horrible all cars block every car and if you want to go out they need to bother other guests to move their cars. Hotel didn’t have hairdryer, soap like the usual hotels have, towels smell musty Thank God I always carry mines. The only best part was the breakfast it was good.
- Nancy (8/5): - We are a good time at this place and we got to
Meet paco a taking bird
- Ronny (8/5): - AC plug was far away from the bed
- Edwin (8/5): - Amazing we love it we coming again
- Gladys Celeste (10/5): - Place was clean and we were served a delicious breakfast by the pool. Nice atmosphere and service.
- Cristhian (10/5): - Muy buen servicio, e instalaciones, súper recomendado..!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was so kind and helpful, beautiful people
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Personal touch and charm throughout our stay. Made special accommodations for our family
- ELY (8/5): - Un lugar agradable y bonito para la estancia q requeríamos y el personal muy atentos
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from this hotey - Unacceptable service with child under 10 years old that for 2 days made all the dirty work , we were the only guests in the hotel and the staff will not even make sure hotel toilets have toilet paper and we as guests have all we need, Hotels.com and expidia should not use this hotel !!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Can’t get lower , low service, low cleaning, - After 4 months of traveling this is first time we got into such a terrible hotel, just stay away from this hotel !!!! Child under 10years old is doing all the dirty work like toilet cleaning! The reception is talking near our window at 5:30am ( and we were the only guests!) and much more ..... this is only a few remarks of many ....
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel look very diferente the side way don’t have pavement
