Guest Reviews
- Saniscaya (8/5): I expected something better - Check-in was smooth but they asked for a cash only deposit even though the room was already paid. The staff tends to look away when you pass by, not the hospitality I expected. The bathroom was smelly when we arrived, had to turn on the exhaust fan and place a soap we brought to put the odor away.
We book the triple bedroom, I expected a small room from the photos, I didn't expect it was smaller that I imagined. No wardrobe to store our clothes, no table to place our suitcase, the room we just messy during our stay, not much space to place anything. The room has a window with no view, literally, needs to be closed at all times.
Pool was dirty the first day we arrived, I think they cleaned it as it was usable on the second day. The small courtyard was quite nice with free afternoon snack, tea & coffee. Breakfast has few choices but tastes delicious, small variety from day to day.
The place has unique murals which I believe why people came to this place. Lots of spot to take photos each day.
Location wise it's very strategic especially when you're planning to explore Kaliurang. Also a good spot to go around Jogja as it is close to the Ring road.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for a one night stay to experience it's unique ambience. For longer stay, there are more options in Jogja with similar rate.
- mixfruits (8/5): "home-stay feel" unique hotel - stay 2 nights here. Check-in process is fast. room sizes and themes vary depending on the location of the room. swimming pool is quite wide. every afternoon there is an angkringan in the pool area (paid, not free).
Breakfast is varied, tastes good like home-cooked food. the location is a bit far from the food court or mini market. recommended only if you bring your own vehicle. parking space is available.
room prices are not too cheap, there are still many other choices.
- Saniscaya (6/5): I expected more from the good reviews - The check in process was fast but they asked for a IDR 200k deposit in cash, for a room I paid already for 2 nights, again they required hard cash. The bathroom has a distinct odor that simply does not go away easy, we noticed that the whole Kaliurang region has this distinct odor in their sewage systems. We manage to push the odor away a bit after placing a soap bar we brought from home and turning on the exhaust fan all day and night.
The room is small, smaller than I imagined as I understand from the pictures on the internet that it's going to be small, turns out to be smaller. There's no wardrobe, no table for your suitcase, we ended up placing things everywhere and the room is just a mess.
The pool was dirty when we arrived the first time, the next morning its well cleaned and clear. The pool area was quite nice and they serve free tea/coffee and snacks in the afternoon.
Breakfast tasted delicious which one the reason why we're still happy staying here.
I guess people came here for the murals which are placed everywhere in the hotel. I agree that the place has a very unique interior design.
Location wise, very good. Just besides Jogja ring-road, so if you bring your own vehicle it's very convenient getting around Jogja from the hotel. Recommended for those who want to explore Kaliurang.
So, I would still recommend the place for a 1 night stay just to enjoy it's unique interior and ambiance. But for a longer stay, I would probably look for somewhere else.
- gladys_putri88 (10/5): Pleasant stay with cozy ambience - I visit Jogja for business/vacation with my Mom and husband. We stay here for 1 night. My husband's had stay here before so he recommended this place for our stay. From the moment we arrive we fell in love with this place especially the design. Make us feel not in Jogja. All the mural in the wall and the room design is so photogenic. My mom take lots of photos here. The room is comfy, the had swimming pool too and a free afternoon tea for all the guest, you can try wedang secang one of traditional drink with some snacks and traditional cake. I make sure to stay in here again in my next trip to Jogja.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel and staff were excellent. We had a great stay. Breakfast was delicious.
- wiharno04 (8/5): Nice place for family vacation - Plus : have comfortable room, have a lot of spot for take picture, have friendly crew and delicious and various breakfast.
Minus : room facility not checked before guest check in and only have parking area not more than 7 cars infront of hotel.
Summary: still recommended for family vacation.
- German-Singaporean (8/5): Very nice and cosy hotel - This hotel has its unique style. Its very well made, the paintings and the beautiful courtyard make it very pleasant to stay. Staff is friendly as well, although not very well English speaking. Our rooms was nice, but the bathroom had a bit bad smell because there wasn't any window (also not in the whole family room). We enjoyed the night we stayed there. Location is a bit far to the centre but perfect if you have to reach the airport early in the morning g as we had to.
- chrisadhitya (8/5): Refreshingly Unique - The original design of this petite hotel itself is enough to catch your eye and make it worth a visit, combined with the price -- it is an absolute bargain.
While you won't get a wide range of choice of breakfast provided, there is no reason for complaint about the taste.
They have pleasant common area(s) to hangout and chat, and if by chance you are around on 5-7pm they offer free coffee/tea and snacks.
If instagrammability (if it even is a word) is a factor for you, Omah Njonja tick the checkbox quite nicely.
something they may have to improve on : they do not provide hairdryer in the room.
Bottom Line : yes, it is recommended.
- bundaoli (8/5): cozy, IGable but should improve in FB aspect - we ran through this property in internet and happy to find the place as it is being promoted. friendly staff, Comfortable bed, beautiful warm water and cute welcoming tea tray.
all corners are IGable for those love hunting pictures.
would expect for more longer service time for room service though, not close in 2100.
- 765teddyh (8/5): A little gem in the middle of busy Jogjakarta - Small thematic hotel with only 15 rooms.
It's easy access from everywhere, with friendly service and great food. They can always improve on the cleanliness but it's not that bad. And the pool is a little bit overkill it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice little hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. Complimentary tea and breakfast was good. We stayed in a family room. Decent size for us with 2girls under 10. We just wished there was a little table and 2chairs in the corner.
- Farihin (10/5): - Great service, beautiful hotel, nice food, lovely deco - everything was perfect
- 747ariefp (8/5): Hotel Visit - Went to omah njonja yogyakarta, warm welcome was there starting form. The security guard then the lady atvthe front desk.. I said to her that this time just for have a look first before we stay with my small group next coming month. And was offering me for showing some rooms, total ro they have is 15! Family rooms was good, huge and smell good too (almost all the rooms),then i wentnto their backyard not big but with the swimming pool and cute chinese decoration... Wow not bad. House keeping staff who make up the room also give us a good explanation about the concept. Finally i decide to recomend this place as your destination when you visit to Yogyakarta. Bravo Omah Njonja!
- mh27a (8/5): A Pretty Place to Sleep - A wonderful hidden gem in Jogjakarta. Perqnakan style lodging with lots of photo corner.
We had 2 rooms for 2 nights. One of the bathroom doesn't have hot water at night, it will be hot for 5 minutes and then gradually bexome colder evem if you maxed it at the hot setting. Another room was served with rugged and worn down towel with holes (although they immediately change it when shown). - for the hot water, we did not mention it as it was late at night and the hot temperature seemed to be fine in the morning.
It seemed like an Eco-Friendly hotel as the power only works with their designed room card. Also, looks like the TV is timed - since it keeps turning off when we slept - therefore I am unable to charge my phone fully since the electronic socket are limited.
They have basic amenities like toothbrush, shower cap, soap, etc. But you will have to request for hair dryer.
It was an OK experience, and definitely worth to try if you're looking a traditional kind of placr to stay and eat (only ate toast so cannot really comment on the taste, but they looked nice). The location is pretty convenient as there are a lot of restaurant in the main road.
- loe_gigi (10/5): Beautiful hommy hotel - Small beautiful hotel with friendly service.
It has "peranakan" style, a blended of Chinese and Javanese culture in every detail of the hotel.
They also served afternoon tea time with traditional cakes and crackers near the pool area.
Overall....we enjoy our stayed in Omah Njonja.
- dalktrak99 (6/5): Vintage lover! - We have stayed in the Upperdeck Family Bed Room for 3 nights. We arrive late in the afternoon due to our flight is delayed. The check-in process is smooth and fast.
Entering our non smoking room, it smells good and nicely decorated. The room layout is so unique, the bedrooms are located on the upper floor which is connected by a wooden stairs. The balcony is facing to the pool and to the garden where we are able to enjoy free afternoon tea.
On the other hand, we realized some glitches.
First, the room is lack of wardrobe! The only place to hang our clothes is in the living room.
Second, The room is designed for 4 people, however there is only 1 bathroom. So it takes much time to get ourselves ready as we need to queue.
Third, the wooden stairs is less ergonomic and it is squeaking, very disturbing.
This place is very recommended for social media people who are looking for a good selfie as the entire place is full of such vintage artworks like paintings, ornaments, even the furniture. You will definitely gain hundreds likes at no time!
However, if you are looking for the sleep quality, please consider other places. I don’t have idea how the other room does, but our room does not suite you if you are more than 180cm.
- redinav (8/5): Unique and Instagram-able - The strong point of this hotel is the unique, artsy decoration and interior, it almost like you stepped into an art gallery , every room are has its own unique decoration and art piece.
i imagine the instagram - generation would be very please to find that every corner of this place is instagram - able
in fact , at my second visit, they have this "photo package" , where you can rent some simple costume (kebaya, beskap and batik fabric) and take picture in the area,
i asked if we can bring professional photographer to do photo shoot, and you can with charge of Rp 250.000/hour
its quite clean too
however i found the bed are not as comfortable as i expected, the mattress was somewhat "sunk"
as for the food,
they provide very simple breakfast buffet, most of the dishes are traditional, home cooked style dish, and well cooked too, served with antique plates and cups which i found not-practical
The staff are friendly and efficient, but also shy-i guess- judging from their tone when they try to explain something to the guesses
i say this place will suite younger people traveling in group (they have room for 4 with very affordable price) but not family with toddler (theres stairs without handrail and lot of display items that i imagine should be keep away from toddler)
- yurikel2014 (8/5): Good Hotel at Affordable Price - stayed in Family Room which has 2 king bed.. the beds are comfortable.. the room is clean.. location also quite good...
if you are a family and stay at hotel only for sleep, this hotel is good..
only so many mosquitos...
- massimomJ4328SR (10/5): best B&B in the town - we had such an amazing time in this hotel. Absolutely fantastic decor with great street art painting around the walls of hotel(I believe they caught the idea from George town in Malaysia) rooms are big and kept clean, staff too very polite especially the breakfast team very welcoming.. I definitely recommend it
- litlotlit (8/5): Unique and comfortable - Omah Njonja Bed & Brasserie was a small hotel but comfortable for me. Their staffs were nice and helpfull. The bedroom was big enough and clean. Their bathroom was large, quite clean, but they have no socket around mirror (at bathroom and bedroom). They provided breakfast and afternoon tea. IMO, their breakfast menu need to be more vary. But this place made me happy because they have unique theme (about Peranakan style) with many instagramable decoration, or some vintage stuff that reminds me of grandma's house. They have a small pool and the environment around the pool was nice and looked pretty (for me). U can also rent some Peranakan costume if u want to take some photos there with Peranakan Style.
- Nana_Kusuma (10/5): My Fav Hotel So Far - The place is very artistic with mural all over the walls. I got an upper deck room, so the bed is on upper deck. The pool isn't so big but good enough. This place is really "instagramable". The service is also excellent, every time I need something, they'll fulfill my request in less than 5 minutes.
This is also the first hotel that I know give an evening coffee & tea party. They serve tea & coffee plus traditional snacks near pool area.
The breakfast is also very complete.
I do love this place, will absolutely stay here again while on vacation in Jogja!
- Tiewulan (8/5): Lovely place - Nice place..nice staff..worth price..instagramable place..comfortable bed in a spacious room (we booked a family room) really love to stay here.
It feels like home..but for the breakfast still need to improve..
