Guest Reviews
- Catherine (10/5): - A must stay destination when visiting Cooktown and surrounding area
- James (10/5): - Awesome spot for wildlife watching!
- Joanne (10/5): - A lovely cabin set in beautiful gardens.
- Michael (10/5): Highly recommended - Hamish and Isabella were excellent hosts and this property is a hidden gem in the beautiful rainforest.
- Raymond (10/5): - The service is excellent. The facilities are excellent. The cabins are excellent in a serene bushland setting with beautiful waterfalls and pools nearby.
- Trisha (10/5): - Property tucked away in the bush, very tranquil and loved the sounds of the birds and frogs.
- Andrew (10/5): - Beautiful location in rainforest
- Lauren (10/5): - Just a beautiful, quiet, serene location!
- Din (8/5): - Very serene and very pleasant surrounds. Could do with pathway lighting to cabins. Hot water for shower and basin takes too long to heat up wasting a very large amount of time and water. A lot of bugs and insects in cabin of night, no top windows only flywire which were torn in places. Other than that, a very warm welcome.
- Richard (10/5): - Great two night stay at Mungumby Cottages. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and reasonable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wonderful stay - We had a fantastic stay at Mungumby Lodge. There are lots of beautiful wildlife to see in the immediate vicinity. The place is comfortable/relaxing and the hosts are very friendly. I would certainly recommend and stay again. The only thing… the breakfast is a bit pricy ($19) for what’s offered. It would be nice to have some selection of meats in addition to the egg/fruit/yogurt/cereal that’s offered.
- Philip (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Rustic cabins in the trees.
- Blodwen (10/5): - Peace serenity and beauty covers this wonderful spot.
This is the place to get away from the bustle of life and totally relax
- Ebony (6/5): - It's so far out of town. They advertised free wifi, when they were asked about it. They said they weren't sharing. No signal for your phone. Website says non smokers but the was a couple Rangers smoking anyway. Tiniest bar fridge in the cabin. Nothing too cook with, just a kettle for tea or coffee. Over in the lounge no stove, just a microwave. No tv, no air con if it's gets hot during summer. No ceiling fan on a pedestal one. No heater either for the winter. For the price we paid for 3 nights. Villas all look the same too. Got to be careful you don't get the wrong one. Not worth staying there.
Only good thing is, it's nice and quiet. Good place to get away from the noisy city.
- Anne (10/5): - Great stay
- Sue (10/5): - We loved our stay in a beautiful timber cabin at this tropical retreat on the edge of the rainforest, only 30 minutes from Cooktown. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, providing great tips on what to do and see. A highlight was a walk to a waterfall in the adjacent rainforest. A barbecue and outdoor fire rounded off a magical experience.
- Ronald (10/5): - Very helpful staff, beautiful property in the rain forest.
- Nicola (10/5): - Beautiful natural environment , very comfortable accommodation.
- Moona (10/5): - all good
- Brooke (10/5): - Very beautiful place. Lovely owners. Peaceful and clean. Great place to stay.
- Zlatica (2/5): Terrible place terrible host - This place was tertible very below standard and host was not helpful or polite ,actuality rude and dismissive .The actual cabin had not fly screening in an area that is onfected by insects especially mosquitoes, there is no air-conditioning, in an area that is quite hot and humid , we were told to just shut the doors to keep insects out but there was not air in cabins and it was so hot and humid even with fans going. There was no offer of refund and then I saw we had been charged extra for a room with a fridge, when the common area fridge was broken, when we were told we cohld have a room with a fridge as a free up grade .
Judt totally disgusted in this place and the woman who runs it .
- Steven (10/5): SteveB - Hamish and Isabella are fantastic hosts and the lodge is spectacularly beautiful. The walk to Hidden Falls is easy and well worth the time.
- lenny (10/5): out back lodge great - beautiful creek and waterfall food available restaurant great setting close to cooktown and very close to lions den
