- alpvagabond (10/5): Great experience - Rachel is the best! - We had a great experience! Rachel at the front desk was amazing to work with even after we needed to make multiple changes. She was very kind, patient, and accommodating which started our experience off pleasantly. Our positive experience continued with clean rooms, great accommodations, great location with lots of nearby dining, and friendly staff around every corner. If you’re staying in this area, this is the place to be.

- Robert (8/5): Very nice facility right on the edge of the Notre Dame campus. - Breakfast was good. Location was great. One of the best parts about breakfast (and the cocktail hour) is that it allowed the guests to see and to interact with each other. So the guests became familiar with each other (and many of the other guests were pleasant and friendly). I realize why parking is a challenge on a college campus - but parking is kind of sketch.

- NooYawkMama (8/5): Great staff, close to the action - Recently headed out to South Bend to join family at a fun Notre Dame football weekend. I had not been on campus in a while, and this was my first time at Embassy Suites South Bend. The hotel is located at Eddy Street Commons, a mixed use development directly across the street from the football stadium area. Lots of good restaurants and shops, as well as a branch of the Hammes Bookstore. Believe in the old adage "location, location, location"? If so, this one's for you. No need for a rental car if you're flying into town. Grab an Uber from the airport. Just head across the road from the hotel onto campus. Pluses: Great location (there is also a Fairfield by Marriott nearby as an alternative; never been there) Well appointed rooms, including accessible options Spacious lobby area Family friendly Abbreviated evening reception for snacks and lingering Energetic front desk staff and an approachable, responsive hotel manager . . . . . . and then there's BREAKFAST. This wasn't the usual cardboard toast and a quick carton of juice. Think a complimentary full breakfast with omelet station, made to order. Freshly scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit, bagels, cereals, juices, you name it. Hot items are served by hotel staff behind glass partitions, avoiding patrons having to handle all the large serving spoons, etc. I can't compliment the breakfast staff enough. Every individual I dealt with was smiling and approachable They just excelled. Thank you! Minuses (what put me at a 4-1/2 star rather than 5): Astronomical football weekend prices (predictable) Hit-and -miss housekeeping (always check the shampoo and body wash dispenser levels in the shower, please) Indoor pool is tiny Except for the Morris Inn (a lovely property located directly on the ND campus), this is the best hotel I've stayed at in South Bend. Recommended!

We stayed during Welcome Weekend for Notre Dame first-year students, and they had complimentary snacks in the lobby all weekend. Happy hour offers light appetizers and 2 free drinks. Wonderful perks on top of an unbeatable location!

- Wismickchick (10/5): Great location, clean, and excellent amenities! - We were warmly greeted when we checked in and were given clear instructions on where to park, when evening reception was, and when the complimentary breakfast was. Parking was super easy and very convenient. We checked in after the evening reception was over so we didn't get to enjoy that, however, the hotel was very close to a variety of restaurants within walking distance. Campus is just across the street, which makes it easy to walk around and enjoy. Our room was very clean and spacious. In the morning we had the complimentary breakfast and it was amazing. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, potatoes, waffles, muffins, bagels, fresh fruit, avocado toast, yogurt, toast, etc. It was fantastic! Our stay from beginning to end was amazing. If we were to ever come to South Bend again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

That said, being next to the Eddy Street Commons makes for convenient dining and some shopping options to do alongside a visit to ND, all without needing to drive or rideshare. We booked a 2 Double Bed 2 Room Suite which allowed ample space for us to work and relax in separate rooms. The complimentary breakfast was consistent with what I’ve had at other Embassy Suites (and appreciated.)

- D6515YRstephaniek (2/5): Disrespectful and unprofessional experience at Embassy Suites at Notre Dame & clearly don't like children - Disrespectful and unprofessional staff at Embassy Suites-South Bend at Notre Dame I’m writing to share a very disappointing experience I had at your property this year, which was a stark contrast to the excellent visit I had previously. Last year, I stayed at your hotel to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The then-manager (who is no longer with the hotel) was extremely accommodating and kind—he allowed us to have a small, respectful gathering in the lobby, where we set up a table for a couple of her friends. The children swam for about an hour, and we were there for a total of around two hours. We then stayed overnight, and everything about the stay was smooth, respectful, and enjoyable. That experience left a lasting positive impression on me and was why I chose to return this year. Ahead of this year's visit, I called and spoke with someone at the front desk as well as the reservations team. I confirmed my booking and explained what we were hoping to do—essentially a repeat of last year’s small gathering. I was told it would be fine, and I was encouraged to stop by to look at the suite in case it was large enough to set up the table inside. However, when I arrived, I was met by David Azinger, who was incredibly rude from the start. He rolled his eyes at me, dismissed my questions, and abruptly told me that your hotel "doesn't do those kinds of things." Rather than listen, clarify, or offer any assistance, he treated me as though I was being unreasonable and even suggested I go find a different hotel. When I calmly asked why I was being treated like a problem, he said, “Well, I guess it’s on us—we never told you this isn’t something we typically do,” with a dismissive attitude and continued eye-rolling. To make things worse, a woman at the front desk jumped in and stated that she “remembered something” from last year and that the previous manager had simply “done me a favor”—as if to invalidate the experience and imply I was asking for something inappropriate. Then, Jeff from your sales team got involved—not to offer a solution, but instead to recommend other hotels I could try. At no point did he offer to rectify the situation or show even the most basic level of customer service. I felt pushed out and disrespected rather than valued as a returning guest. I had already sent out invitations and booked the room in good faith based on what I was told, as well as what had worked so smoothly last year. I was not trying to host a party or disrupt the hotel—I was simply hoping for the same low-key gathering that had caused no issues before. This is common at hotels. I understand that policies can change, but what is unacceptable is how your team handled this situation: with rudeness, condescension, and a complete lack of empathy or effort to make things right. I hope this feedback encourages better communication and much-needed retraining in guest relations and professionalism.
