Guest Reviews
- James (8/5): - The manager, best of luck , hard working and wants it to work, hope you make it Locals great, guest clientele not
- Tom (1/5): Shit - I cant tell you. I asked about parking and dropping a bag off early. They answered the parking question to tell.me to follow the local rules and ignored the bag. When I rang at 12 to see if I could check in I got nothing but answer phone. I didn't stay and they took my money anyway. Useless on all front. Would be nice to stay. Even charges me for the breakfast I didn't have. Didn't answer anything. Generally just useless and charging 93 quid for nothing.
- Matthew (4/5): -
- Eve (10/5): Good value and good quality - The staff are absolutely fantastic Nothing

- Peter Webber (10/5): Would definitely book to come again - The breakfast was excellent
- Laura (8/5): - Location was excellent. Due to mobility issues a lift would have been better for us.
- Karl (5/5): - Location and parking was excellent No water for shower etc
- Edwige (8/5): - Peu de pression dans la douche
- James (10/5): - Have stayed here several times and have always enjoyed it . Nice food and friendly helpful staff.

Enkel instant koffie (decaf) i.p.v. versie koffie
- stephen (10/5): Made our stay enjoyable - Chef couldn't do enough....Great breakfast Nothing
- Jon (6/5): was ok for the one night stay for the price. - I liked it was clean and simple in the room.
The staff at reception were nice. I did not like that there was the kitchen fan on, it was rather loud, next to my window. There was a A4 laminated sign next to the TV saying fan will turn off at 9... it did not.
I called the hotel but no answer. The bar staff were the ones manning the hotel reception and the pub was full.
- Chris (8/5): -
- Tia (10/5): - Lovely little area, nice and clean rooms with friendly staff
- Joanne (8/5): Good for the price - Perfect location for us in the centre of town (for an event at the Pavilion).
Very friendly staff at lunchtime and checking in/out.
Nice lunch - not the menu on the website, but good all the same.
Comfy bed.
The fan is useful as the room is stuffy (small window).
The instant coffee in the room is surprisingly tasty!
For £80, we'd visit again. Not convinced it was a 'superior' double but didn't see an ordinary one.
Poor pressure in the shower. Loo brush needs changing.
Confusing signs about breakfast/checkout times.
More coat hangers needed - only 3 and they're faulty so they don't stay hanging.
Light switches in weird places - the room's been rearranged and the switches aren't by the bed any more.
- Sands (2/5): AWFUL - The young lady who who was on reception and then in the restaurant and then in the bar was very pleasant and hard working The food, the mattress on the bed was the most uncomfortable that I have ever encountered, the shower, basically everything else
- Robert (5/5): -
- Almas (6/5): Fine for a 1 night stay in Hailsham - A charming and tidy room, staff were friendly, and there were some good amenities nearby. Well connected with the bus network too. Overall, fine for a 1 night stay in Hailsham. The pub itself is a bit rundown, and there was some clutter left outside our room for the duration of our stay. Room overlooked the street, which was quite noisy.
- Johanne (8/5): Chouette hôtel avec pub attenant - Hôtel central, de caractère, très propre.
- de Pierpont de Burnot (6/5): -
- Dawn (8/5): - Breakfast
- Gillian (8/5): -
- Beryl (6/5): Adeqaute - The rooms were very clean and comforatable Stadff serving breakfast and also when we tried to get a coffe atin the evening was tolda the pub wasnt busy so they turned of coffe machine also the breakfst on the last day the boiler run out of water which was for the tea and coffee they also run out of orange juice
- Tony (7/5): Great staff, good food, spotlessly clean. - Room was spotless, breakfast was great, good food, freshly cooked (not left under heat lamps), good sized portions. Hot water for tea needed to be hotter, personal choice. Bed left something to be desired though, covers were clean and comfortable, pillows not quite. The mattress was for a 'young person', i.e. it was only a few inches thick so you felt as though you were lying on a solid board (underneath) I'm obviously used to more comfy creature comforts! The bad, as previously mentioned, mattress was not really suitable for adults, I'm not that heavy!
- Charles (8/5): Very handy for the purpose of my trip - It was very handy for the bowls game I was playing in only a 10 minute walk away There was nothing not to like
- mark (9/5): -
- mark (9/5): -
- paul (8/5): Nice accomodation - Easy booking , easy check in , freindly staff Clean and vomfortable
- Michelle (6/5): Good location and service - Location was good and close to restaurants. The staff were helpful and attentive at breakfast. The room was dated with one of the twin beds extra springy and uncomfortable. The breakfast was ok with a cooked breakfast option but be prepared for the garlic and herbs that is used to cook the mushrooms in.
- stephen (7/5): Ok for one night - Ok so overall our stay was ok for one night. Stayed here before and the room locatuon was better. Aslo breakfast was much better before. Staff were very good as usual so thanks to them Room number 1. Not a good location. Next to the stairway and over the pub entrance and overlooking the highs street.
Long wait for breakfast and breakfast not great.
Also could get hot water from tbe shower for some reason.
- Greenfield (9/5): - Friendly welcome.
We only stayed one night to attend a function nearby so just needed a bed for the night. So can't review food etc. I couldn't make the tv work 😁
- c568267055367012993636bcce262223 (8/5): Good location in center of town close to shops and dining - Central location in Hailsham. Close to stores. Room comfortable but glad to have brought our own pillows. Parking behind the hotel was fine. Staff very friendly. Room rates reasonable. Very quiet. My bed seemed to be on a slope. Soap dispenser needed filling.
- 0c095e262d5c721216b957fbe59c0be8 (8/5): Attending family funeral - The staff were very helpful to our requirements Good short stay
- e69fe5ceff4572f40a713bcd45c520b2 (1/5): Leave this place well alone - Yes place was fairly cheap. But the place was just dirty Place was grotty and unclean
- f17643c6fb42706894b693cd5bd3dbb7 (9/5): Well done, team Crown Hotel! - A very clean, quiet room with comfortable beds. The room was spacious as was the shower room. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. I loved the pub too! A very positive experience overall. Nothing.

- c73d1f704183702ad57371e66ea96090 (5/5): - It was in a good location The door to access during the night is difficult to close when checking out
We found this as people leaving early in the morning around 5am had to slam the door multiple times. This wasn't very good
Also we got the keys mixed up as had 3 rooms booked. 1 of the keys was able to unlock all three of our rooms which is a concern
- fff31ac92f2b71977fde55eec2de49ff (5/5): - The location in the town center did meet my needs. The shower in my room did not give enough hot water. The carpet in my room is old.
- 4f82bd352a9570ad60f619752c8a44f9 (9/5): Très bon. - Calme, parking. Il n'y avait pas de chauffage. Au mois d'avril en Angleterre un radiateur chaud aurait été le bienvenu.
- Alfie (10/5): -
- Mike (7/5): -
- Lorraine (7/5): - Near to our friends and family Closed early
- Tasha (10/5): As always, can’t wait to come back! - I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times over the past few years because it’s within walking distance of my office in the UK. I absolutely love the atmosphere and that it’s in the center of town. You meet some interesting people and the rooms are always comfortable although the mattresses don’t offer the best support. I would much rather stay here to support a local business than a big chain hotel in a nearby bigger town. Like I said, the mattresses could use an upgrade. I always wake up with back pain and a stiff neck because of the pillows.
- David (5/5): - Accessibility and nearby parking. There were some small things that would make have made the stay better, including the breakfast glasses bring put out unprompted and our bathroom having a toilet brush.
- Olaoluwa (10/5): - Th staff are really lovely. The rooms are also really comfortable and spacious. Nothing
- James (2/5): - Good location There was a sound omitted from a plug all night which disrupted my sleep
- Helen (8/5): -
- SALMAN (10/5): Weather for a job and we stayed for a few days, but it was very nice - Everything was very nice , the staff was very nice with smiling faces No, there’s nothing to complain about
- mark (8/5): Great staff, fab breakfast, good location - Great breakfast Decoration needs attention
- James (9/5): Comfortable beds - Breakfast Shower pressure
- Georgina (4/5): False advertisement, not worth price - Staff friendly, easy to get in and out, nice enough room Not advertised properly at all, it's actually a very rowdy pub with rooms attached, which is not shown on google, the booking website, their website or anything else, it is only advertised as a hotel. We arrived to stares from the patrons and went through to the back where the checkin desk is, we were then told that there was live music until 11pm and our room was right above the singer, there was issues with the card machine so then my partner had to squeeze between customers at the bar, we were told she didn't know when checkout was and she didn't know for sure which key was which, we then went up to our room and could hear every word of the music and it was so loud i had earphones in and could still hear it above them, there were loud patrons outside shouting and the music didn't stop until at least 11.30. The second night for some reason the pub was closed before we got back, but the insulation is so bad i repeatedly got woken by noise in the high street, barely slept at all on either night and honestly a total waste of money for what it was. I honestly wouldn't mind anywhere near as much if it wasn't for the false advertising and the amount we spent for the quality of the place.
- Olaoluwa (10/5): -
- Duncan (10/5): - Location staff friendly Bess
- Paula (10/5): - How the staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble , and how we were so central to everywhere, myself and my wee girl felt just a home .
- Joanne (5/5): Expectations cannot be high for the price. - The breakfast was good. Room very basic and shower barely working. Card machine was not working so cash only so restricted if not carrying cash.
- Ruth (8/5): Comfortable good value inn for short stays - I have stayed here many times as it’s friendly and good value for money. Other hotels in the area can be pricey due to proximity to tourist areas like Alfriston.
The bed was comfortable and the bedroom tastefully furnished, and I was able to control the temperature of the room.
Breakfast was good - good quality sausage and bacon on the full English. I was woken up just after 5.30 by what sounded like a generator (although I had ear plugs in). This is probably particular to this room as I’ve stayed here many times before and not heard this. Also I could hear everything in the street as the windows are not double glazed but have very thick curtains which help block draughts. Again it depends on the location of the room. Having said all this the age of the inn and its high ceilings and features are part of its charm.
- Jill (7/5): A comfy stay at the Crown - The room was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly.
It was quiet and i slept well, the hotel was in a good location. The breakfast was tasty too. There isnt anything i didnt like, just one thing to mention is when i came back to my room late on the sunday evening, there had been no housekeeping so my tea&milk hadnt been topped up, so no bed time drink for me! If i had known they dont make up the room on a sunday then i would have spoken to the bar staff in the morning and asked for a top up.
- Lee (8/5): -
- matthew (6/5): - Location No fridge
- Damilare (7/5): - Because it was clean The price was too much for a single room
- Jacqueline (8/5): -
- Sean Simmons (8/5): - Nice hotel, good breakfast
- Sharma (9/5): -
- Jessica (4/5): Friendly staff, bad night's sleep - Staff were very polite and accommodating. The location was convenient for what we needed. Breakfast was included, which is always a plus. The bed was ok, and the linen (sheets & towels) was clean. Overall cleanliness - kettle filter was mouldy, cups were dirty, shower and sink had build up grime and mould. Bed spread was stained.
The walls were very thin and the hotel was old and creaky so unfortunately you really could hear everything. We were also near the hotel's back exit and stairs, and the door was slammed throughout the night. Understandably, this is a pub so some noise is expected, however it was extremely loud - we had to ask the guests next door at 2am to keep things down and were woken up at 5.30am by guests shouting, swearing and running in the hallway, banging doors. If a good night's sleep is important to you, this might not be the place for you.
- Alfie (8/5): -
- Riches (4/5): Very loud even for staying over a pub - The location was good
The lady that checked us in was good
The breakfast was good No car park we had to park five mins away and had heavy bags. The noise coming from the bar went to until 1.30am and when people leaving they were shouting. Costa was across the road, and got a delivery at 2am from a large lorry. The water in the bathroom was only cold so couldn’t stand in shower that long. The room was too hot and the window wouldn’t stay open.
The staff behind the bar in the evening kept walking past up serving regulars in the end we went somewhere else for a drink and food.
- Anna (8/5): - Lovely staff, really warm & cosy room No parking
- Kerry (4/5): Disappointing - Bedrooms are tiny and all built on a slope and have creaky floors and wardrobe wobbles if u use it
- Joy (7/5): Totally satisfactory. - Location, meals, staff, comfortable. Provide a chair in rooms.
- stannard (8/5): -
- Terry (8/5): Pleasant stay - perfect for overnight stop - Comfortable bed, hot shower, clean and tea/ coffee facilities in room.
Room was quite - Good nights sleep
Nice breakfast - plenty of choice
Polite friendly staff The high street in this area is a little noisy at night especially when the pub turns out. Car park (not owned by hotel) to rear is not a very nice area. There is CCTV in car park but feels a little uncomfortable.
Hotel is a little dated but clean and just what is needed for a short stay
- Sean Simmons (6/5): -
- Brian Stovell (8/5): - The room was well heated and the door entry system was very straightforward the location in the town centre was excellent The room I was in was nearest to the door to the bar on the ground floor so I could hear everything coming in and out but it didn't trouble me
- Lee (7/5): -
- Joe (9/5): - All staff were extremely helpful and polite couldn't do enough to help. A little bit of a squeeze when using the toilet due to positioning, but fully functional and clean.
- Liz (9/5): -
- john (7/5): -
- kent (8/5): - great staff, comfy beds very clean great value at£60 nothing
- Misha (8/5): Comfortable, convenient and cosy! - Big portions and tasty! N/a

- Jacqueline (8/5): -
- Helen (8/5): Friendly & attentive staff with well equipped rooms. - Lovely rooms, friendly staff & good location Parking wasn’t on site… but this wasn’t an issue
- Euan Lewis (10/5): Excellent - Didn't have any
- Allan (10/5): Really enjoyable - Excellent location for my work Evening meal
- Tina (6/5): Fair rooms - Location and breakfast good Rooms were dated. A number of the lights didn’t work. The window were very dirty couldn’t leave open had to use the bin. Fire door was wedged open
- Michelle (8/5): Good stay helpful staff. - Polite staff, good breakfast, large room, No parking onsite
- john (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good Stay 👍 - Excellent Breakfast
- Boast (8/5): Very central location & friendly staff - How spacious the room was. Breakfast was delicious. Friendly staff. How noisy the carpark & surrounding streets are. But that is to do with location & deliveries not the Crown.
- Laura (7/5): Staff excellent - First class cooked fresh every morning
- Susan (10/5): Clean, friendly staff great stay - Perfect
