There were chairs for the beach, bikes for leisurely afternoon rides. Fresh water and ice machine and various goodies available from the well-stocked pantry made the stay very easy and hassle-free. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I enjoyed the Koi pond and got to pet the fish! I will definitely stay again when I go back that way.

- Eileen (9/5): If you want something out of the ordinary, stay here! Highly recommend this property. - The location was perfect and the property was lovely. This is NOT a cookie cutter property! Lots of charming details, and very tranquil. The elevated continental breakfast included pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, and even hard boiled eggs. The koi pond and gazebo are so peaceful. Plus it’s great to be so close to downtown and the waterfront. Innkeeper Lee is very responsive, and has so much historical knowledge - it was a pleasure to talk with him. Because it’s an older building, there is no ramp to get into the reception area (not that we saw), and the stairs are interesting but awkward. I was able to get in and out, though, because fortunately it’s only a few steps.

Enjoy. - Roanoke Island Inn is a quiet peaceful place with a wonderful staff located in the city of Manteo Roanoke island with fantastic views of the sound. The perfect launching spot to all areas of OBX. Easy walking distance to the quaint downtown area. The Inn has individual rooms, a bungalow and a house available on the property. This is a close to visiting Mayberry USA as you can get. (No Kidding). Highly Recommended Make sure you keep the ice machine stocked.
- Lilly (9/5): Lovely inn- would visit again any time! - Beautiful inn, especially the outdoor space (garden and upstairs porch) in the middle of Manteo- which places you in the middle of the Outer Banks (in driving distance of both North and South ends). The owners and innkeepers are lovely and very helpful. My room was a great size with a comfortable bed, I faced the garden, which was lovely. Awesome surrounding neighborhood, right outside the inn is a dock which is a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset. Bikes are provided for guests to explore. Beverages (hot and cold) and snacks are accessible at all times from innkeeper's pantry. Well-stocked library and parlor to read- and socialize in. Great airconditioner in the rooms. Rooms lack a few things I'd expect at the price: a robe, slippers and body lotion. There is no housekeeping during your stay. Breakfast is a little simpler than I had imagined (personal preference) and doesn't start until 7:30. Both shower and TV were a little difficult to understand/use.

Service was amazing and loved that they give you complimentary water bottles and snacks/beverages to make the stay that much nicer. The room was very clean and the AC unit worked great. The location is so nice with a very short walk to numerous shops and restaurants. Would definitively stay here again!

- Dawn (10/5): Beautiful! - We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a longer trip to the USA. What a beautiful location & place! We were lucky to have a room which looked out onto the lighthouse. We loved the spacious room & the old furniture, it was all very fitting for the location. It was lovely to sit & read in the veranda rockers in the warm afternoons after a busy day out! The level of hospitality was excellent from the housekeepers & we liked being able to help ourselves to breakfast & drinks from the 'help yourself' kitchen which was all very relaxed & convenient. The hotel is a short walk away from the boardwalk & shops although there wasn't much open when we were there as I think the main tourist season was over. Its a short drive over to Nags Head beach & the Wright Bros memorial which we visited on a couple of days. We hadn't realised that Roanoke itself was the site of the very first settlers landing so visiting the Fort & excellent visitor centre was an unexpected pleasure.

Breakfast was substantial and treats/soft drinks/coffee and fruit available 24 hours at no extra cost. Location perfect and room was spacious with a large bed. Staff had excellent knowledge of the area. One difference to your description, this hotel does not have a swimming pool
- Tatyana (10/5): - When we booked this stay we had no idea what to expect. What we saw far exceeded any expectations! This is historic building, yet it is impeccably maintained. The location is just across the marsh, boardwalk and historic lighthouse. The views are amazing. The garden has koi pond and a gazebo. It is very quiet and peaceful place, yet in walking distance to the marina, Festival island and downtown Manteo (“t” is silent, so it is actually pronounced “Man-eo”) The beds we’re comfortable, bathrooms were clean and breakfast was served in charming kitchen. Living room has comfy seating. Check out the second floor terrace - for rocking chairs and water views. The inn was featured in the “Outerlore” - a series of ghost stories about Roanoke island. We wanted to see an apparition, but alas, nothing disturbed our sleep in our quiet room. We would like to thank our host- innkeeper Megan for her great knowledge of the area and taking good care of us!

The property is lovely and very charming, and has all the comfort you need, and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. the complementary breakfast with bottomless coffee if a nice touch. Will definitely come back, may times. Nothing, all was great! Don't touch anything before I come back!

- Verified traveler (10/5): A hidden gem in Roanoke - We visited the Outer Banks for Spring Break. Stayed here for the last two nights. For trips going towards Hatteras, this is a must stay. Good location, historic island and lovely accommodations. The rooms were a nice size, with the bathroom in the middle. Very clean, nice towels (liked the different color face 'makeup' towel so as not to confuse it with other wash cloths, and comfy beds. Our son had his own adjoining room, which gave everyone privacy. Convenient location, access to mini-fridges in common area and the continental breakfast was enough to get us going. Owner called me early to let us know room was ready and he gave us a good dinner recommendation. Also interacted with another guy who gave us good directions for historic sites and other tips. A really nice, relaxing, quiet stay. The Inn is part of a small compound with a cottage and expansive enclosed green space with a gazebo. A perfect place for a lazy, summer visit. Thinking about returning then. Thank you for a great stay - enjoyed it!

The attention to detail and customer needs was top of the line. Pet friendly is a plus. The highlight of our trip was meeting the innkeeper, Pam. From the moment we booked til the time we left, my wife and I knew we had made a friend. Pam knows the area and was extremely attentive. We highly recommend this property for anyone looking to explore the Outer Banks. Loved everything
- Frank (10/5): - Lovely place to stay. Location to downtown Manteo is ideal. All the lovely shops and restaurants are in walking distance. Our room was great. Only negative was that the front of the heating/ac unit came off in the room. Staff said it was on the list for repair. Loved the convenient beverages and snacks. Breakfast was good. A beautiful place to stay. Pam was battling a cold when we arrived so we spoke more to Lee and Suzanne while we stayed there. Very friendly and informative about the area.

She knew everything there was to know about the island and was also quite funny. The Inn provided breakfast every morning, snacks, water etc. They also had complementary bikes to ride around. We would most definitely stay there again!!

- Terrell (10/5): - Wonderful, quaint inn. The guest lounge had a kitchen with coffee, pastries, bread, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice, soda, cookies, cereal, and more. There's a large library and comfortable seating. The grounds are lovely, with seating, even a covered area, and adorned with a beautiful koi pond that once belonged to Andy Griffith, who lived on the island. Most of all, Pam, the manager, was a total delight. Attentive, gregarious, funny, and sensitive to all our needs, the experience would not have been the same without her. The Inn is a destination. We'll be back.

I really appreciated that Pam called us to let us know that our room was ready early and that we could check-in as soon as we were ready. Our room was really comfortable. The grounds were lovely. We liked being able to walk to Manteo. We can't wait to stay there again!

It was our spring break (as educators) and we were is desperate need of a proper getaway. The location of the inn cannot be beat! We visited the local historic locations and took advantage of the broadwalk directly in front of the inn to explore Downtown Manteo. We will definitely come back and have already shared our experience with our friends and family.

This place has a magic to it. It has the ability to heal wounds, to rekindle love, and give a sweet reminder that life is precious and should be cherished. I want to return to this place and pray it continues to prove how beautiful life truly is when you take the time to slow down and appreciate it. What a wonderful treasure this place is.

My grandchildren loved the Koi pond and the fact the Inn Keepers allowed them to feed the Koi. I enjoyed the quaintness of the Inn and the rocking chairs. the Inn Keepers were kind and helpful. Enjoyed the cleaning staff as well, as they were kind too. We will be going back!

- Wes (10/5): A Slice of Heaven - Roanoke Island Inn is a slice of heaven in an even bigger slice of heaven (Manteo, NC). The Inn is comfortable and clean. The grounds are well kept and the buildings are well maintained. The Inn is in driving distance to Hatteras and the southern outer banks. We have been visiting this Inn for 30 years and usually visit 3 or 4 times each year. Second generation owners Laura and Jason have upheld the traditions of the Inn and have made subtle improvements.
