Guest Reviews
- roger (8/5): - so convenient for the city centre
- Roy (10/5): Classic Irish rowhouse with excellent host - If you ever wondered what its like to stay at a classic Irish rowhouse, stay here. Ours was situated in the middle of a well maintained, but non-descript row of doors. Nicely renovated inside, but snug as you would expect. Our room was basically just bigger than the double bed, but nicely appointed with a decent bathroom. The host was wonderful, friendly, and cooked us an entire and delicious Irish breakfast. Great location, just minutes walk to the old wall. Walking along the top of the wall takes you back to medieval times. Great experience overall, highly recommended.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Tim is an amazing host and made us feel so welcome by giving us travel recommendations and places to see.. He is an excellent host that’s for sure.
- mark (10/5): - This was great value. And Jim that runs it is a really friendly bloke and gave me a full run down of the area. Breakfast was fantastic
- Christine (10/5): - What a wonderful place this is.Such a great host who made us feel right at home.Everything was perfect, comfy bed and delicious breakfast.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Jim was a fantastic host, very knowledgeable about the area and its related history. He gave us great recommendations and was incredibly welcoming. The property is an easy walk to the city walls and we were able to park right in front on the street. Would absolutely stay here again.
- jodi (10/5): Nice stay in Derry! - Bishop Gate BnB had a great location, just outside of the Bishop Gate, so we didn’t have to be directly in the tourist area. The owner is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and good. The room and bathroom were a bit snug. They were a comfy size but not big enough to leave our suitcase or bathroom stuff out.
- Brenda (10/5): - Great location. Jim was very informative. Lovely breakfast
- Darrel (10/5): Great stay at Bishops Gate B&B - Check in was easy and very personal. Jim was extremely helpful and friendly. The B&B’s location is perfect for walking through Derry and access to restaurants and pubs. We were able to park for free along the street out front
Our room was clean and comfortable. We slept extremely well.
We greatly appreciates the free wi-fi and morning Breakfast. But best of all wa the owner’s hospitality.
Highly recommend Bishops Gate B&B.
- Edgar (10/5): - Well taken care of!
- Kyle (10/5): - The property is very convenient and within walking distance of everything you would want to see in the area. Clean rooms and bathrooms. The host Jim was amazing and provided great information and recommendations not only for our stay but for the rest of our Ireland trip. Do not skip the breakfast if you have time, best full Irish breakfast of the trip.
- Jane (10/5): - Well located for visiting the Free Derry Museum and Bloody Sunday Memorial and walking tour. The City Walls are also close by. It's near enough to the centre to walk into for bars and restaurants.
Rooms and bathrooms are small but exceptionally clean and comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer are provided. There is free on street parking.
Good choice of breakfasts. Can highly recommend the cooked breakfast.
The owner is very welcoming and helpful when you need directions to the sights.
- Robert (10/5): - Our host was great…so helpful with directions, things to see, interesting stories of Derry, etc. The room was comfortable and clean. I loved the location - walkable and safe. I would definitely stay here again,
- Karen (10/5): - Loved it! Jim was super friendly & filled with info all about the area & town's history! Great location! Easy parking! Lovely room! Great breakfast! Hope to stay here again!
- Aileen Chan (4/5): Not booking B&B’s ever again - Arrived and the place wasn’t open, rang doorbell and called. I had asked if it was possible to leave luggage in the morning prior to checking into my reservation. I received a “yes” which I thought I could. I went straight to hotel and stayed there. I do not recommend booking any B&B’s for this town. Just go straight to hotel for better service and no fuss.
- Eileen (10/5): - This is a fabulous place to stay within walking distance to the centre of Derry where you have lots of choices to dine and the bars are lively.
Also lots of culture and local sites to explore.
Excellent value for money with a freshly cooked breakfast. Jim is an excellent host we will definitely be staying again
- Lyn (10/5): Fabulous stay - Outstanding Stay at Bishop’s Gate B&B
We had a fantastic stay at Bishop’s Gate B&B in Londonderry! From the moment we arrived, Jim, the host, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His hospitality was exceptional—nothing was too much trouble, and he had great recommendations to help us make the most of our visit.
The B&B itself was spotless, and you could tell the rooms had been newly decorated, giving them a fresh, modern feel while still being cozy and comfortable.
Breakfast was absolutely fabulous! We enjoyed a delicious Ulster fry, cooked to perfection, with the option of additional fruit, cereals, and a variety of fruit juices—a great way to start the day.
The location was excellent, just a short walk to the main attractions, restaurants, and the historic city walls. If you're looking for a warm and welcoming stay in Derry, Bishop’s Gate B&B is the perfect choice. We’ll definitely be back!

- Raul (10/5): - James was and amazing host
- Catherine (10/5): Great, central b&b - Bishops b&b is central to everywhere, we parked the car and didnt need to move it until we left, it was warm, comfortable and a great breakfast selection, the only thing i would say is, we were in room 4 and it wasnt ensuite, we did have the downstairs bathroom to ourselves but our personal preference is ensuite, Jim the owner is friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and he really couldnt do enough for all his guests, i would most definitely recommend Bishops b&b
- Jonathan (10/5): - Lovely hosts, clean and comfortable room, and a good location for exploring the city.
- Timothy (10/5): - Great stay in a quiet neighborhood, breakfast was great. Walking distance to the Wall and pubs and restaurants.

Excellent value and we would certainly recommend the Bishop Gate B and B to anyone wanting a convenient stay in Derry.
- Brian (10/5): - Good spot & facilites
- Marie (10/5): - Jim was a wonderful host. We were late to check in and waited for us. He also walked us to a pub with great food.
- Alston (10/5): Exceptional value for money in Derry - Great location with the centre being just a few minutes' walk. Room was compact but sufficient for my wife and I. Jim was a tremendous host providing excellent tips for places to see, dine and drink on arrival, he was also a great laugh engaging with all the guests.
- Crystal (8/5): Host and location was perfect - Owner was great, excellent breakfast and he gave great sight seeing tips! Space (bathroom in particular) was too small for our family of 4 adults. But the location was excellent and neighborhood was safe, and again host was just fantastic.
- curtis (10/5): - Stayed here last night and would stay again. The room was good, location was great, staff was amazing and very helpful with recommendations of where to eat, what walking tour to see. I would recommend you stay here
- Lynette (10/5): - Helpful hosts. Good sightseeing suggestions.
- Natalie (10/5): Very hospitable - Host was very friendly and breakfast delicious.
Host kindly pointed us in the right direction and even went out of their way to show us around and recommend some places for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice and hospitable owners, good breakfast - The owner was very nice and helpful. Spent his time to explain so many things about the city to us tourists.
It would be more comfortable if the bathroom was in the room, but it is okay as we didn't share it with othera.
Oh, and we loved the Irish breakfast they made!
- Martin (8/5): The hidden gem - Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Derry/Londonderry which is an small walled city. It was a centre for the troubles but they seem to have left the City largely intact somehow. It's a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit.
Everyone in Northern Ireland is friendly but the proprietor was especially so.
- Catherine (10/5): - Our family had a very pleasant stay - the host was helpful, the breakfast plentiful and punctual, and the location of the property was very convenient enabling easy walking to all of the town sites.
- Tomas (10/5): - Great location, nice breakfast
- Karen (8/5): Great wee spot - GREAT PLACE, LOVELY PEOPLE. DEFF STAY AGAIN
- Janet (8/5): - Good location, excellent host and breakfast
- Andrew (10/5): - Jus amazing value. Top place top people
- Kathy (6/5): - This B & B was ok. On arrival there was nobody to welcome us. We had to ring to get a man who seemed very rushed to let us in. It was clean and comfortable and served a lovely breakfast however we felt that it was very small especially the shower/toilet facilities (and we are not overweight) and when we looked out our window overlooking the back garden we couldn't believe our eyes, it was just a wilderness of high weeds and not well kept at all. The entrance wasn't very impressive either but for the money it served our purpose very well.
The lady who served breakfast was lovely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Kieran and the team are perfect hosts. Room and price are great and hotel is only 5 mins walk to the top end of the city.
And a great full Irish breakfast in the morning... and amazibg shower.
Definetely will stay again.
Thanks one and all.
Terry
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, free parking, friendly staff, great breakfast, overall great stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location. Not so good check in or breakfast. And noisy dogs barking next door.
- Alan (10/5): Great place to stay. - Great location in a quiet area in Derry but very close to the main attractions and city. Parking is on the street and there always seemed to be plenty available. Had a small room but everything was tasteful and excellent facilities. Very hospitable host who gave us excellent advice and guidance for visiting the city.
- Karen (10/5): Nice B&B in Derry town - Quiet location. Great breakfast. Very friendly host. Close to town centre of Derry.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, rooms and beautifully cooked breakfast.Staff was very friendly and will stay here again.Bed so comfortable and clean.
- Alyssa (10/5): - Good stay. Quality of room including linens was nice. Quality of property is pretty good. I enjoyed the bathroom shower and had a good night sleep. Breakfast was a big portion and the extra tea and fruit before bed was nice. Staff were pleasant. Had to wait a little for check-in but nothing unreasonable.
- Paul (10/5): - B&B is in great area,A+ shower,Breakfast is superb,Kieron is so friendly,helpful and funny.
I highly recommend it,
We will definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed here for one night, smaller room but it did the trick. Breakfast was awesome!
- AILEEN (10/5): Great location and very clean - Stayed here over the weekend and it was a good location. The room and bathroom was clean and nice sheets. The breakfast was tasty and the staff were really friendly. We would stay again for sure.
- Ekrem (10/5): - Especialy the staff of the Bishop gate B&B were very kind and supportive! I deeply congratulate the owner for his very kind hospitality
- Rob (10/5): - The owners were very nice and accommodating. Amazing Irish breakfast!
- Michelle (10/5): - Doesn't look like much from the outside, but its brand new inside. Comfy beds, great shower
Good breakfast. It's in a great location maybe 3 blocks from the walls. The people of Derry are so friendly, helpful and nice. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not sure we were at the right property - We found it difficult to find as there was no signage. The bed was stated to be a large double but in fact was a standard double. The house over all was noisy, creaking stairs, the ensuite was very tight, the water temperature and pressure were good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - well located for visiting cultural places of interest
