- Arpit (2/5): - Terrible experience. No one picked up my calls 24 hrs before check-in. When I arrived, the lift wasn’t working at all (not just “sometimes” like they claimed), and I waited nearly 2 hours at reception with no staff in sight. Breakfast was supposed to be until 9 AM, but they cleared everything early everyday up until 3 days of my stay — looked more like cost-cutting than hospitality. Worst of all, a staff member agreed to let me check out at 11 on my last stay at the hotel, but a rude woman (maybe the owner?) barged in, cursed at me, got in my face and threw my luggage out. I felt completely bullied and humiliated. No guest should ever be treated like this. This place was a huge mistake — avoid this nightmare of a hotel at all costs. Never again.

- June (8/5): - This is old property and as such doesn't have all the facilities modern property has. Nevertheless everything was clean, if not a little compact, due to two additional beds in the room. Obviously no room for anywhere to sit comfortably. Ideal for the short break and value for money. Excellent simple but full English breakfast. Comfy beds.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyable - Generally good value, the breakfast was good and served by friendly helpful lad. Couple of small niggles with room, wi-fi doesn't work except in reception. Poor signal to TV, so buffers badly, only BBC watchable (Just) and no tea and coffee making facility in room. All very minor and didn't really detract from our stay.

- Amanda (10/5): Perfect seaside break - We enjoyed our week"s stay at Trevelyan. We stayed in a basic double room, which was good for us. The daily breakfast was great - full English breakfast or scrambled eggs on toast, with tea/coffee, toast and jam and assorted cereals - perfect. The staff were very attentive during breakfast. For us, Trevelyan was perfectly situated between the Electric Railway and central Douglas just half a mile away. Would recommend.

- Megan (6/5): - This was a great price. It’s very old and historic, with skinny halls and crazy carpets everywhere. Like a fun maze! Some small things: fix the elevator, add an instruction card in the shower, add a small shelf in the shower.
- Loren (10/5): - It's a very clean hotel, the ownership is very friendly and helpful. It is not a modern cookie cutter hotel or building. It is the Victorian era. It is not fancy in modern terms. The stairs are steep and narrow, they way they were done at the time it was built. I would like more lighting on them. Breakfasts were good and satisfying. I had plenty of hot water.

- daniel (2/5): - Staff are aggressive don't answer requests they are very discriminatory towards people with limited mobility and put me on second floor and next day I was accused of 'being one of those people' had to check out literally next morning due to this and abuse from them, the owner is a crook he is refusing a refund dispite this from his useless staff.

- Kathleen (8/5): - Lift not in use. Booked before we knew. Main reason we booked as both of us struggle with stairs. Booked through hotels .com. and they state lift not in use overnight. My fault as i didn't check on the hotel site. They did show lift out of action. Lesson learnt. Bathroom very small and dated. Room basic as expected, clean and had kettle etc. Breakfast was included. Juice,cereal, bacon etc. Very good. Asked for a slight change and it was no problem. Delia the lady was amazing. Nothing too much trouble. She moved us to a first floor room after explaining the problem with stairs. Bar not open. Shame as it would have been nice to have a nightcap and perhaps a chat with other guests. Overall a basic hotel. No frills. Service and staff very good.

- David (8/5): A good basic B&B hotel on the prom. - I opted for a single room with shared bathroom, which worked for me. The bathroom was up a flight of stairs so won't suit everyone. The staff team are great and look after you very well, and the breakfast was good and freshly cooked. All in all it was a good experience staying here

- Dorothy (2/5): - The place is dirty and the owner is only interested in getting your money. Tried to cancel after receiving an email saying the lift wasn’t working, got a definite NO. Explained that my 80 year old mother was going and she couldn’t make it upstairs due to illnesses, still a definite NO. I could cancel she said but I wouldn’t get any money back. Unable to book anywhere else due to lack of funds we went to the hotel to was told by an elderly woman that we would be in a room on the top floor, when I told her my mum couldn’t manage the stairs she said she was the same age and goes up and down the stairs about 20 times a day so asked to speak with the owner. After numerous excuses and being told that the owner is a feisty one and won’t put up with any fuss she came 3 hours after we got there bounding in shouting that we paid for the top floor room. She eventually after talking with Expedia she changed our room to a first floor room and that she was only letting us stay because of my mother. The room was dirty and there was water marks on the curtains, I have taken loads of pictures to prove what I’m saying is true. I had to help my mother up the main flight of stairs, easier said than done and took 10 minutes each time then up 4 stairs with no rail to hold onto then there was a 45 degree slope upwards to the room. The owner wouldn’t even look at me throughout our stay. Whether she thought that I was just trying it on by asking for a refund she was determined not to give in.

- Kevin (10/5): Pleasant stay with friendly service - A very pleasant stay. A great option for a budget hotel. The room was small but well laid out with everything I needed. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast. Breakfast was good - a pleasant full English with cereals, juice, and a good jug of coffee. Good seafront location and convenient for the electric railway and some nearby bars and restaurants. An enjoyable 25 min walk along the seafront to the town centre, and there were also buses. Good value for money.

- Emma-Louise (4/5): - Nice enough hotel but communication appalling. I contacted the hotel after booking to ask them whether or not it was possible to adapt the breakfast (which is included in the price) to suit a vegan diet. No one ever responded and when I signed it at reception this had somehow been transcribed as 'gluten free'. I also messaged regarding the fact that we wouldn't arrive on the island til 22.00 due to the ferry times and enquired how I could get my room key. No response. Then ferry told me they would be 1hr late - so I would arrive after reception closed. I tried to contact them in advance on the day so they would be aware and gained assurance someone would be there to let us in. Unfortunately, when we turned up there was no one answering the door. There was a code I could have used, had anyone given it to me. There was no key for me, even though the other guest who was left waiting on the doorstep with me had a key ready in an envelope. The man who answered the door made it clear that I was at fault for arriving so late. I accept that I arrived 15 minutes after check in closed. However, I did advise them as far in advance as possible and was told that this would be ok. No apology was made (I did apologise for our lateness, which was outside my control) and I feel that the stress caused to myself, my son and to the adults on site on that evening could have potentially been avoided with better communication between the hotel and their booked customers.

- Neil (4/5): Poor service in some areas. - I did not know the hotel was very limited to check-in times to 4pm only! This meant I was unable to leave my luggage until the room was ready. There is only WiFi accessible in the lobby area not where else in the hotel. The breakfast was fine. I was incorrectly charged twice when I arrived which I had to contact. The staff took my credit card and charged me for the stay, Hotels.com had also charged by card. I did not become aware of this until I got home, I am still awaiting for this to be refunded. Hotels.com blamed the staff at the hotel.

- Steve (2/5): - The external flowers were a nice touch … the rest of the guest house (it’s NOT a hotel) was a disgrace … by far the worst place I’ve stayed in in 60 years. The lift apparently hasn’t worked for years, the room was pokey, cracked wallpaper, a loose WC that moved when sat on, spiders’ webs were in the bedroom, hard bed … just an absolute nightmare. I asked for another room on day 2 (I was room 3) to be advised they had none … they did. Have Expedia ever vetted the Trevelyan? I paid £805 for my stay and I’m not happy … I’d like you to revisit what you charged or I’ll not be using you again.
- Jenny (8/5): Great location - We stayed 3 nights at this lovely family run hotel. The beds were all super comfy , the breakfast perfect size avoiding any waste and also very tasty, they even reserved a table for the 3 of us each morning which was amazing. A few bits to improve to have someone always checking for arriving guests . We were lucky as we were served nearly as soon as we arrived but I checked some guests in the following days that waited over 1 hr to be checkin in. This is definitely something that needs to be improved, also taxi services are scarce so for someone with not a local phone having to make calls to several taxi supplier on their own phone can be expensive . My feedback is the the hotel needs to fixed the recepción phone or offset to call taxi for customers . Apart from that all great this is why I give 4 start instead or 5

Kettle in room 2nd night but no tea or coffee but luckily had taken own supplies. Staff very friendly and location on promenade good. Compared to nearby properties good value.

- Richard (10/5): Good budget choice in Douglas - A good budget choice in Douglas. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel is right on the seafront and close to bus stops and the heritage electric railway. Breakfast was good. Wifi is quite flakey and can be hard to get a reliable connection. But would be happy to stay here again.

- Suriyon (10/5): Comfortable hotel - I did not expect much about 3-star hotel with the price lower than £40 a night. However, this hotel was beyond my expectation. I have got an en-suite room with sea-view which was really very impressive. The room had enough facility as mentioned on the website. Breakfast was okay but it would be better if there were other options for guests (having full English breakfast for 3 days could be boring). I would not want to complain for the location because it cannot be changed. Some backpackers might feel this hotel is quite far from city centre and there are not many shops and restaurants around but if you value your money more than energy (to walk there), I would recommend this hotel.
