Guest Reviews
- Ronald (6/5): - We got to the motel late (10:00pm). There was a large sign that said to check in at the truck stop next door. Problem was it was closed for the night. After beating on the door for several minutes a gentleman from inside finally came to the door. We then got our room key. We were very concerned that we were not going to get our room that night. Next door to the motel was a truck stop with trucks coming and going. The positive side was the inexpensive room rate made it worth while.
- Russell (10/5): - While the rooms are a bit rustic, there was a certain charm of nostalgic roadside Americana that I loved about this place. I had extra time so I spent the evening soaking at the Lava Hot Springs a little further up I-15. Perfect for a one-night stopover.
- Jon (10/5): - Flags West was an excellent choice: The place is not fancy, BUT, . . .the room was clean; the Bed was firm (not broken-down); and even though the description did NOT indicate a complimentary breakfast, they provided a voucher for breakfast at the associated diner. All-in-all, this was an extremely good value.
- Calvin (10/5): - Absolutely loved it! Everyone is so sweet
- Kristoffer (8/5): - Good for what we needed
- jennifer (8/5): - Great affordable property, just an fyi the reports of no TV are true and in an area with nothing but a gas station a working tv would have been nice….nothing fancy but that’s what you pay for… loved the cafe associated with the hotel
- Robert (10/5): - the staff was friendly and accommodating. Will book again.
- Shelley (8/5): - Funky older motel with helpful staff and clean accommodations. Priced right!
- ECHO (4/5): Poor room friendly attendant - While the attendants at the gas station were very friendly, they had minimal knowledge of the motel. When we arrived the door wouldn't open with the key provided, we used the other key and with some fenegaling and pushing we got the door opened. The door isn't very protective to say the least. We were told if we needed anything to dial 1 on the phone, we checked the room for the television remote and couldn't find it, so I started looking for the phone to call the desk and there is no phone. I called using my cellphone and spoke with the attendant, he was friendly but not knowledgeable. He said he would get a hold of his manager. He did and called me back saying there is no television service in the room that is why there are no remotes. They did not make this clear on the website or when we checked in. I expressed my concern with the man and he said I would have to wait until Monday to talk to the manager.
The room had trash around the beds, bug traps right in front of the door, sticky stuff on the end table between the two beds. For almost 100 a night I can honestly say I've had better experiences in more seedy areas of our country for a lower cost
- Ethan (10/5): Great value - Nice place to stay between travel destinations. Quiet. Great breakfast
- Lori (4/5): - Sheets looked dirty, box springs had stains, there was dust everywhere and the coffee maker didn’t work.
- Daniel R (2/5): TERRIBLE.........STAY AWAY..... - Made the reservation, got to the property. the store that has the keys was closing. the night manager locked up with the motel key inside and could not get back in. I was not even able to get into the room. I had to go on down the road and try to find another motel. They have a phone with 4 options. 2 of those are always busy and the other 2 have voice mails that are always full. Terrible service and I am requesting a refund. Never even think about staying at this place
- Bryan (8/5): - The room was clean and quiet.
- Leo (10/5): - Check at the gas station was easy and fast, the person was very enjoyable and make sure we were being comfortable.
Room was very clean and the expected size for a motel.
Convenient along I-15
Oh yeah, breakfast at the restaurant was included!
- Paul (10/5): - This place is like a hidden gem! The room was very spacious very updated and extremely clean. The restaurant and gas station are right there everyone's really friendly and I can keep an eye on all of my things in the trailer. Can't beat the price and like I said very updated large TV nice bathroom computer desk refrigerator microwave etc etc I highly recommend if you need a place to stay overnight on your long drive.
- Brad (10/5): - Great frendly staff
- Mike (8/5): - Great place to stop for dinner or spend the night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Employee who handled check in was very nice but it's weird checking in at the truck stop. Our first room was pretty scary... blinds broken, no curtains. When we plugged in the hanging lamp, it popped a breaker, no lights except in bathroom. They did move us to another room which had been remodeled and was very nice. Just a quirky kind of stop. We needed to stop where it was located so worked out good. Truck stop was very nice place.
- Micah (8/5): - Never judge a book by it cover! We stayed here and it great. Perfect for the time we were there.
- Rosalyn (10/5): - The motel itself is older, but clean and homey. Check-in & check-out are done at the store. We were given free breakfast cards for the cafe there & it was really good! Great cook who knows how to fry bacon!! Thank you 😊
- Russell (10/5): - We were looking for just an average roadside motel but Flag's West was better than expected. Room was small but room was clean and beds comfy. Room included a coffee maker, microwave, fridge, and staff even moved us to a room with a large TV.
Check-in is done at the convenience store next door which also includes a restaurant.
The best part of our stay had to be the staff. Everyone we interacted with at the store or restaurant were very friendly and pleasant. We even got free breakfast with our room.
We will be staying here again.
- CANDY (10/5): - Amazing experience
- Rosalyn (10/5): - Staff were friendly; at check in, dinner & check out!
- Kylie (2/5): - Worst place we have ever stayed. Firstly, they were dishonest about their cancellation fee. Since I wasn’t allowed to cancel we drove 3 hours to go. When we arrived, they gave us the wrong key. We ended up walking in on someone in bed. Then when we finally got into our room, it was DISGUSTING. Bugs everywhere, dead and alive. The amount of dead bugs was terrible. The bathtub was dirty with someone else’s hair everywhere and bugs. The bathroom floor was covered in dead bugs. The sink and counters were covered in dead bugs. The sheets on the bed were stained and had multiple burn holes in them. The pillows had multiple yellow and brown stains. The power outlets were all loose and the tv didnt work. There wasn’t a phone in the room to call anyone for help and the gas station closed at 11 so you had absolutely no access to help after then. BOTH of the two chairs provided were covered in white stains. There was also old food stuck to the counter and table. I ended up cleaning for an hour before we could even bring anything in because at that point it was too late to book anywhere else and we were 3 hours from home. I will be submitting pictures of the filth.
- geoffory (10/5): - Room has been nicely renovated. There was no internet but otherwise was very nice. I will stay there again.
- David (10/5): - It’s an older building, but surprisingly nice inside.
- David (8/5): - TV was not available 😢, it was not hooked up to a satellite. They said they could use my phone for a hot spot. I'm not using my personal items for something that should be already in house. We had to leave earlier because caretaker had to unexpectedly return to duty. No way to contact booking and request a refund for one day.
- JAMES (10/5): - It was good for a stay over
- Davidson (2/5): - This property was so bad I didn’t even stay.
- charles (2/5): - the only problem we had was that flag west motel didn't get our payment for the room from and we had to take another thirty minutes out of our mini-vacation to secure a refund from you.
- Derakhshan (2/5): - I have never been to a motel like that. The reception was so rude and she wasn't helpful at all. The computer was broken when we got there and we left there without checking and the funny part was that it wasn't refundable.
- Patrick (2/5): Could NOT check in!!! - We could never get checked into the room. The cashier had no idea how to do it. When we walked in, nobody was in the building, nobody. I found a girl out in the back parking lot sitting in her car. When she came back in, she had no idea what to do. 15 minutes later we gave up and drove further down the road, reserving another room on your site. Check my records, I did not stay in this hotel, that I am currently reviewing.
- Tia (2/5): - With this motel your experience will be equal to how it looks... Dumpy. When arriving we were directed to go to the truck stop across the pothole filled parking lot. The employees didn't know how to work their own system. They couldn't find our name or reservation number and almost has us pay twice until we showed them that the payment was already withdrawn. They advertise for wifi and direct TV but neither of these worked. We talked with another guest staying there and he said when he went to get a room they encouraged him to go somewhere else that was 40 min away. The room was basic and I will say it was clean. The AC was very loud and when it would turn off it sounded like a door opening, very unnerving. There was a fridge and microwave which was nice. If you are desperate for a place to stay and not looking for any other experience than to sleep... it serves that purpose, but I would bring your own blanket and pillows
- Melissa (2/5): - It was not 15mi to Lava Hotsprings. More like 45mi to Lava. Super scary with barely a functioning lock. Couldn't stay there, ended up having to pay for another hotel and uable to get a refund.
- Shane (2/5): - Had to check in at gas station. Attendant admitted the room had most likely not been cleaned due to very low staff. No tv in room either. We cancelled the reservation but were still charged by Expedia.com
- Glenda (2/5): - We were not able to check in per the manager on duty as they had not been able to get the rooms cleaned due to employee shortages and problems with the help they had. They said we would not be charged. We expect Expedia to reimburse us asap please. It was an inconvenience to have to drive further and try to find a last minute room on a weekend night!
- Julie (8/5): - No office on site. Business done at Truck Stop across the parking lot. The room itself was nice.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Shameful - We knew this wouldn't be a classy place to stay as we had booked there several years ago. We weren't prepared for how badly it had deteriorated. To be fair, the bed sheets were clean and the shower worked. Everything else was in terrible condition. Old, dirty stained furniture, the sink must be clogged and drained slowly. There is no TV service. There are no refunds. I sought out the manager who couldn't be bothered to put down her cigarette to talk to me. I explained we would have never booked the room if we had known the TV situation and the condition of the room. The room looks nothing like the picture advertised. She explained that the owners refuse to put any money into the place and that the TV service would not be turned back on. She thanked me for alerting her to the conditions. The person standing next to her suggested that they could discount the room. She shrugged and took a drag on her cigarette. I just walked away. At checkout, I asked for a receipt. I was told it would be emailed to me. As of today, there has been no correspondence, and no receipt. Our room was on the second floor. Going up and down the stairs is dangerous. The stairs are in poor condition and the torn carpet is a tripping hazard. Hang on tight to the iron railing covered in bird feces if you are ever as unfortunate as we were to stay there. I can't believe Hotels.com would ever list these rooms as serious options.
- faye (2/5): - This was horrible! No Wifi or TV as advertised...refrigerator was filled with old food from who knows when. Clerk couldnt even check us in, no acess to a manager or anyone to help. We were supposed to stay 2 nights and canceled booking! Scary location and other guests were as unhappy as we were! Remove them from your app !
- Bill W J (2/5): No one Home - No ine to check us in. Had to contact customer service. They founf me a new hotel and didnt have to pay any extra.
- Jennifer (2/5): Not good - Very smelly room, did insects in the room. A lot of noise from the truck stop, plus the necessity of checking into the room at 8:00 stop with a lot of customers doing their transactions. Terrible pillows mangy old towels. Seriously do not recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible - Not managed at all
- RANDY (4/5): - The room is one of 10 isolated from the gas station check in. The stairway is outdoors rusted steep with screws sticking out no rain gutters rain soaks you when using the stairs. Extreme lighting is in place makes it hard to sleep. TV turns on but no programming the Free internet does not reach the rooms from the gas station location. No pillow cases, bathroom was dirty as was the carpeting. Granted it’s old with only a privacy lock on the door. But for $90 a night it would have been nice to have hot water. But nothing else around limited truck stop accommodations when there is nothing else to chose from.
- Glade (2/5): - I am traveling this week visiting different hot springs in the area. Decided to stay here since it is very close to Downata Hot Spring, and not too far off from Lava Hot Springs.
Check in is confusing, as you get the keys to the room from the nearby gas station. The employees don't seem like they know what they are doing/ aren't very knowledgeable.
We booked through Expedia, and the charge went through. But the employee insisted the charge didn't go through, and charged us for the room again. That is very frustrating, and they refuse to refund us, even though we were charged twice. The motel needs to better educate their employees on bookings, and providing customer service.
Regarding the room, it is okay. The pillows/ beds are relatively comfortable, and everything is pretty clean. The towels are not very soft, and the bathroom is very small. They do have a microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee machine.
They also have several garbage cans on the property that are full to the brim, and need to be emptied.
Overall, not the best experience. I think in the future we will stay somewhere else, instead of having to dispute double charges.
- Kathryn (8/5): - It was at least a place to get some sleep
- Kathryn E (8/5): - I knew the property would have a desolate feel considering it’s out in the middle of nowhere of Idaho. Kind of sticks out like a sore thumb because it’s just in the middle of a dirt parking lot with fields around it. I picked up the keys to the room at the gas station adjacent to the parking lot. The rooms were clean the bedding was clean the beds were decent came with a fridge and microwave. There is nothing around the facility except for a restaurant is inside the gas station which served a full menu and was decent. It was only a 20 minute drive to lava Hot Springs and it worked out great.
- Trisha (8/5): - Jaquline the housekeeper was fantastic! She was very helpful and friendly. Really went above and beyond to make our stay great!
- Scott (4/5): - I was unaware that there was a check in time and I arrived after closing. I begged the closing clerk to allow me to get into my room, but he was very unpleasant about my late arrival, which was absolutely unintentional.
Toilet did not work, and when I asked for a discount I was told "can't do that"
- Edward (6/5): - It was a very odd feeling -- as though no one every stayed there. The linens, room, and bathroom were clean, yet still an eerie feeling as though discarded. Mine was the only car in the lot and I was informed at check in (which occurs at/by the gas station cashier) that there were no other rooms available. Perhaps the rooms are only cleaned once all have been used.
There is no WiFi and very limited TV. Overall, not the worst place to stay if you need the location. However, I recommend driving 25 minutes into Pocatello.
- Gwendolyn (2/5): Wild hillbillies brandishing weapons = management - It's not much from the outside. The rooms are in desperate need of updating. You only get 4 channels on the satellite. We were horrified to watch the guy/manager with the gun berating a homeless man on a bicycle just trying to sleep in the parking lot. (As the husband says always avoid idiots open carrying with velcro holsters) It was disgusting watching him and his wife act like a maniacs, threatening, berate, abuse and menacing someone with a gun, merely because he was sleeping in the parking lot of the travel center next door. Cops were called. My question is, when is it not been okay to sleep in a travel center parking lot? Don't stay here. These people's behavior is gross.
- Kevin (8/5): - Great place to stop for the night and get a bite to eat, gas, and sleep when passing through. Only 5 channels on the tv but the view made up for that.
- Raymond (2/5): - Dead bugs all over the room. I was told the reason was it had not been used in 3 momths. So gross even found hair in my bed when i pulled back the covers. I left and didnt sleep in the room.
- Sonia (6/5): - The room was adequate for the price. However, the bed was extremely small for a queen, the cabinet that held the fridge was broken, AND THERE WERE MOUSE TRAPS IN THE ROOM!!!!
- Nathan (2/5): Never stayed building condemned - The place had been closed down for 3 months before we booked the accommodations and was condemned for unhealthy conditions
- Rick (8/5): - It was quiet, and convenient to I=15 traffic. The convenient store was great.
The only thing that could be improved upon would to put screen doors on to keep the moths out.
- MaryAnn (8/5): - The area is beautiful. Pictures of property don't do it justice at all. Inside and outside are new. Comfortable beds. Clean. Friendly staff.
- Stephanie (8/5): - It was extremely nice inside- new almost! From the outside it looks like it would be a mediocre motel- but inside is a different story!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My wife and I have been traveling around the western US for the past two months. Flags West Motel was the cleanest and newest motel room of anywhere we stayed. The shower was great! Highly recommended. The only negative were the bright lights outside all night made it difficult for my wife to sleep.
- Dimitrios (10/5): - Very impressive. Super clean and updated. Especially for the price. I would be staying here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What i liked more than anything was that for such a small property the room was really clean. They could have put a freshener in the room it did not stink but had a country smell. CLEAAAN THOUGH. THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quite, clean, comfortable bed
Room had a clean look and smell from the minute we walked in
- Moonerah (10/5): Great Service and Clean Room - Our initial reservation was changed from a cabin to a tent at Lava, so we cancelled and reserved Room #3, two queen beds for our family. We had lots of space, and the Motel was close to the freeway so we could get to and from Lava easily without being in too much traffic. We saw the Llamas and went out on a small hiking adventure. The room and bathroom were clean and the sheets and pillow cases were nice and fresh! It looked like their cleaning lady does a great job. The staff was very friendly at check in and out and even went above and beyond to help me find some band-aids. Great experience. We would definitely stay here again.
