• Hendrik (10/5): Die perfekte Unterkunft für jeden der gerne draußen ist und die beste Fuji Aussicht genießen möchte! - Die Lage ist absolut perfekt. Unmittelbare Nähe zum Ufer des Kawaguchiko Sees und zu Convenient Stores und dabei immer den Fuji im Blick. Die Warmherzigkeit des Gastgebers hat mich berührt, er hat mich sogar zum Bus gefahren. Aus dem Zimmer sieht man den Fuji nicht, weshalb man gezwungen wird, aus dem Haus zu gehen. Das finde ich aber perfekt so. Die Betten könnten ein bisschen komfortabler sein aber es hat mich nicht gestört.

• John (9/5): An Unexpected Treasure in Fujikawaguchiko - I stayed at Gasthof Melange in Fujikawaguchiko and was honestly very impressed with what I received for the price. This is not a luxury grand hotel with full-service staff, and I think it’s important to say that upfront. But for the money I paid, the experience exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The property is set a little off the main road in an area that feels more residential than commercial. For me, that only added to its charm. The side road, the small parking areas, the low lighting, and the house-like surroundings made it feel quiet, cozy, and genuinely welcoming rather than inconvenient or uncomfortable. When I arrived, it was a little hard to tell where the main entrance was, but following the lit walkway to a side door led to a small reception area with a counter and an electronic bell. A Japanese man came out to greet us, and from the very first moment, he was incredibly warm and welcoming. He asked in broken English whether we spoke Japanese, and although we did not, it was never a problem. He stayed patient while I used a translator, and honestly, he understood quite a lot. More importantly, he never once made us feel awkward or like we were a burden. Everything we needed was treated as important, and that level of sincere hospitality stood out. The only real downside for me was that our room was on the third floor, and there is no elevator — only a narrow winding staircase. That said, this was not really a fault of the property so much as a challenge for me personally, since I was traveling with a large suitcase and carry-on packed for a two-week international trip. The host apologized several times for the lack of an elevator, which I appreciated. Once we reached the room, he followed up to make sure everything was fine and noticed my surprise when I realized I had accidentally booked a room with one double bed instead of two separate beds. The stairs may be difficult for guests with heavy luggage, and the entrance was not immediately obvious on arrival. However, both were minor compared to the warmth of the welcome and the overall charm of the stay.

He helped me to find restaurants and other activities while I stayed at the hotel. We even talked about the photos he took around Kawaguchiko! Arigato Gozaimasu Hiroaki San! There was a low humming noise that seemed to be coming from the side of the hotel. I believe it was the pump/heater for the hot bath on the first floor. Additionally the hotel is not full service so no food options. Also the hotel seemed a little bit on the older side.

He also explained the local bus services to us and showed us exactly how to get to where we needed to go. The room was basic, but comfortable and clean. Well worth the money, in a peaceful location, surrounded by trees, fields, hills, and Mt. Fuji in the distance! The beds were a little hard.

• Sandra (8/5): Nice - Absolutely incredible in terms of Service. The owner is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. The Hotel is nice but nothing too fancy. Everything you Need is provided and its very clean as well. It more than Suffices for a Night or two. Only downside was that its a bit further away from any bigger Station and the Connection To Kyoto is quite frankly awful. Nothing To do with the hotel tho.

We love the style of the hotel, it is Japan-Western style. The location is far from the train station, but we have no issue because we came by car, and it turned to be really nice and quiet to stay. The room comes with a good size twin bed and good bathroom. The place has no elevator, it might be difficult to get to the higher floor if you carry the heavy baggage. The room is a little bit old-looking but still clean and comfortable.

• Joedha (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is located near to Lake Kawaguchi northern shore. We could view Mt Fuji 🗻 from the hotel. We visited it during the Sakura season and the lines of Sakura trees were just 200mtrs away from the hotel. The room was of good size and had running hot water. The owner was kind enough to let us check in at 1pm. As it was the peak of tourist season and taxis were unavailable, the owner kindly dropped us to Kawaguchi station.

Though both of us are not good at English, the host still tried his best to offer some guidance of our trip on the next day. And he also offered us a ride. We really appreciate that. • Wei (9/5): Good location, cozy stay and friendly host - My solo trip during golden week. Overall, it is up to my expectation, it is comfortable, the host is friendly and introduced me a few place of interest around the area. He also answered my inquiries on where to get dinner, nearby convenience store and bus stop etc. For me, the location is superb, I managed to walk to all my destination nearby. Otherwise, further area, I will take the bus. Take note, golden week is a week long holiday for Japan, the bus will be delayed due to high traffic. In my room, there are two bed, the inner bed doesnt have good Wi-Fi signal, but it is fine, since I travel alone, so I just change from the inner bed to the outer bed, which solve the problem. The toilet door in my room also have tiny bit of malfunction, it somehow slam the door close, it is very difficult to close it quietly and slowly, because it get stuck. I am sorry to those that heard the loud door closing sound.

The location is good for this side of Lake Kawaguchi to check out some good viewing points of Fujisan. I love the lavender oil infuser. Thank you. Utilising the public buses can be a hassle in the evening. I don't think they run to this side of the town after 7pm.

• Idori (9/5): Comfy and feels like home. The owner is super nice - The room was not big nor luxurious, but perfectly functional with everything you need, and it was very clean. Beds were comfy. There's a fridge and microwave you can use next to your room. You can eat either in your room or in the dining room where there are dishes at your disposal. The owner is super nice, he'll accomodate you and give you nice advices to visit around, but for all that he's not invasive. Overall you'll feel more like at home, in a quiet and peaceful japanese countryside, than in a hotel. Location is perfect to visit the momiji festival.

Totally recommend this!! - We were soaked in heavy rain and came up late in the evening The staff (i think he was the owner?) patiently waited for our arrival (we notified him for our late checkin) It was a nice clean and comfy guesthouse The cleanliness was like 10/10 ****** Sadly we didnot have the chance to enjoy the scenic view of Fuji Mt. as it was obstructed by the cloud, but we enjoyed very much the guesthouse and the lakeside town Very nice guesthouse i would not hesitate to recommend this to others and i would be happy to book Melange guesthouse anytime i visit Kawaguchiko in the future didnot serve anything in the dining room (probably due to pandemic situation, hope the covid gets over soon)

• Verified traveler (8/5): Tranquil and Countryside Lovers - Love the area was really tranquil and relaxed and country. The view of the Mt. Fuji from right outside of the house was absolutely beautiful! However, the area was abit too far-off from Kawaguchiko station, though a 7mins walk from bus stop 17/18 (Red Line Bus). Do note that Kawaguchiko station is bus stop 1.
• Verified traveler (8/5): 静かに過ごせます - 河口湖の北側なので、静かに過ごせます。部屋にはシャワーが有りますが、2つの浴場が24時間利用可能でしたのでそちらで入浴しました。カギを閉めて専用利用するシステムです。部屋はビジネスホテルよりは少し広い位です。隣の部屋の音は静かにしていれば結構聞こえました。オーナーが観光など親切に話して下さり参考になります。ペットのワンちゃんが年寄りであまり遊べませんでしたが癒されました。食事は朝食だけお願いしましたが、大変おいしかったです。宿泊者はオルゴールの森の入場券が1200円で購入出来るので予定しているならば利用するべきです。
• Daniel (10/5): Great place in kawaguchiko - Great place! A homey and quiet guesthouse, Yosh and his wife are wonderful hosts! They offered us a ride to the station the day we left and gave us a fuji mount room no extra charge - so nice! 5 minuets walk from the bus stop, transportation is very easy to anywhere in the lakes area. A little pricy and not so fancy...but highly recommended!
