- Quah (9/5): - House was comfort, heated aircon. Nil
- Kathreen (10/5): We loved our stay at Miro Hachijo Uchidacho Tei, highly recommended! - The place is very clean and traditionally beautiful. Everything we needed was provided. Great place to stay if you want to experience living in a traditional Japanese home and residential area. Nothing

Toilette unten, Schlafraum oben . Keine Stühle oder Sessel
- Paula Cristina (10/5): Excelente estadia. Transportes a 3 minutos do alijamento. - Tudo.

- Andrew (8/5): - At first I was a little concerned that this property was a bit far from things to do, but once I got used the the transport network I found it to be so easy to get everywhere I wanted to. The neighbourhood is very quiet, and a welcome change after the bustle of tourist areas. The stairs up to the bedrooms are very narrow and steep, typical of a small Japanese house I think, but be aware if you have mobility issues.
- Pedram (9/5): Superb -
- Thảo (8/5): Very good -
- Clare (9/5): Great little Kyoto base. - Great location, easy to access, love the bathroom. Extra pillows would have been lovely. No sofa or seating other than kitchen table.
- Michelle (9/5): Fantastic space in a great location—highly recommended! - Fantastic location, next to Toji Temple. The bus system was just a 2-3 minute walk away, perfect for reaching specific areas around Kyoto. The Toji train station was a 10-minute walk, and Kyoto Station could be reached on foot in about 20-25 minutes. There was plenty of wardrobe space, but all of it was marked for staff/cleaners. It would have been nice to have some space available to unpack our luggage.
- Simon (7/5): Good - Loved the Japanese style home. Easy check in and check out. Was a little dusty. Kitchen was small and limited crockery provided.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Perfect, spacious house for four adults, nice neighbourhood (Toji), great time
- Jacqui (10/5): Authentic Japanese accommodation in a great location - location, the whole house. The washhing machine/dryer was tricky to understand. The small oven/toaster was a little difficult.
- Maha (1/5): Very disappointed - Nothing They didn’t refund my money
- Pengyu (8/5): Very good -
- Yashodhra (9/5): Large apartment very close to Tosi temple - We liked that this was a big property compared to others in Japan. There were 2 toilets and a washing machine which was great for us. The facilities could use a deep cleaning. There was a good amount of dust in the corners and there was mold growing in the shower (or it looked like mold on the wood). We were only there for a couple days so we made it work.
- Alexandre (10/5): Warm and welcoming place - Nice Japanese house, cozy, nicely located
- Fiona (10/5): We had a lovely visit! - The home was well equipped, easy to access and we loved its Japanese style. We had great and helpful communication with the staff. It was a little hard to reach some of the main attractions by public transport as the bus can be slow
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Jorge (9/5): Imerse yourself in traditional Japanese culture - Great location near Toji Temple and Station. It was great for experiencing Japanese culture and staying in our traditional Machiya home. The facilities were great with two toilets. The access to the home was effortless and the host was very prompt with their reply when needed. Narrow steep stairs and very small pillows
- Priorify (8/5): Spacious and climatic place to visit Kyoto - Lots of space
Good price
Great localisation!
Kitchenware, Washing machine and two toilets
Looking like a typical Japan house Mold in the AC and Shower
Could use a little bit more cleaning
Futons are really terrible to sleep on, keep that in mind
- Jane (9/5): Pleasant - Very spacious and comfortable. A typical Kyoto machiya, close to Toji temple and bus stops are well connected with other districts. Walking distance to restaurants and convenience store. One of the toilets didn’t flush properly.
- Mafq1980 (10/5): Exceptional - It was a wonderful stay. Everything about it is beautiful, cleanliness and location Nothing
- Gretchen (8/5): It was fun staying on our own in a Japanese style house.. - Liked staying in a small Japanese house.
Furo was excellent, and having 2 bathrooms was super.
Kitchen seemed well equiped. Instructions for laundry were for the wrong machine.
Needed better instructions for heat control panel - I couldn't understand how to adjust anything on it.
Also we could have used instructions in English for the microwave.
- Tina (10/5): Clean and spacious place. Close by to station. Communication was spot on with host. - Everything was amazing. Easy check in. Great host and communication was very spot on. Very spacious place. Nothing at all.
- Etienne (9/5): Loved it! - Wonderful little guesthouse is very close to a big pagoda. Bit of a walk from the train station, though. It was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of hotels. Had the place all to ourselves. Traditional rooms with modern amenities. AC in every room. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The beds were comfy. The living room was so nice with a little modern kitchen with some cooking utensils included. They left a bottle of red wine on the table for us. Sadly, I couldn't find the corkscrew. It was self-check-in. Was super smooth, no issues. Was such a pleasure to return to every night after a day of sightseeing. Would definitely stay again if I could. Just the lengthy walk from the station but that's not their fault. Nothing else to complain about.
- Jose (7/5): Great location, hard beds - The location is fantastic, as you're one stop away from Kyoto station, with some cool stuff and places in the neighborhood. The place is very cool and in a very quiet area. Toji temple is gorgeous and 3 minutes walking! 4/5 of us had a tough time of it with the beds. I was fine, but no one else was able to sleep due to how hard the futons and mattresses were. If you are not used to sleeping on quite a hard surface, then that's definitely something to consider! Also, the lighting could definitely use some work to make the place cozier.
- Jasmine (10/5): Very nice rokan stay! Only a 10 minute walk to the station. And with being off the main road it is nice and quiet! Highl - Very nice rokan stay! Only a 10 minute walk to the station. And with being off the main road it is nice and quiet! Highly recommend Everything was wonderful!
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kylie (10/5): Exceptional - It was great to stay in what was a traditional style home. The townhouse was fairly compact, but after staying in a hotel room prior, it was good to have the additional space and privacy compared to a hotel. Nothing to do with the property owner, but using Google Maps didn't work perfectly. It got us to the right street and then a neighbor helped us to the right house.
- Mary-louise (8/5): Great location, walking distance to Kyoto station (1.4km) but taxis were very well priced too - Great location, good to have two toilets, hot bath at end of long days was great Really steep stairs, would have liked a toilet upstairs but these were very minor issues
- Geokhui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prisana (9/5): Superb -
- Katie (7/5): Good -
- Edina (8/5): Nice and cosy stay for 4pax with 2 toilets, washer and dryer and a mini Kitchenette - We were allowed early check in when we arrive. Thankfully as we had travelled with huge luggages.
- Leah (7/5): Good experience for a different style of accomandtion. - The location had a lot of charm and having two bathrooms was great. It’s good to try a town house style place. Was very dusty, especially in the bedrooms. Also the location isn’t the best to get around Kyoto.
- Aleix_g (9/5): Great Japanese experience. Next to To-ji temple, easy access to public transport. - Next to the To-ji Temple, with the tallest wood pagoda in Japan. Very beautiful. Quiet area, perfect for resting.
Toji Station was 3 minutes away, which connects to many places, including Nara.
The washing machine works very well, very useful on long trips and summer months The cleaner must be quite short as the top of the fridge hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
Netflix on TV was great, but logging in was very challenging as it was in Japanese.
- Alison (9/5): Lovely Japanese style home with everything needed for a family of four. - Beautiful little house with lovely details. The kids loved experiencing a more traditional Japanese style home and there was plenty of space for our family of four, much more than the hotels we have stayed at in Japan. Very useful to have a clothes washer/dryer and small kitchen, supplied with toiletries etc. Had dinner at a great little teppanyaki restaurant down the road, not far from convenience stores, restaurants and train/bus. Next to Toji temple which was beautiful. Was a bit further from Kyoto station by foot than I realised on the map, but easily accessible by bus or train. Had to change buses and trains/catch multiple to get to the main attractions but think that this is probably true of where-ever you stay in Kyoto as it is quite spread out.
- Douglas (8/5): Charming, basic townhouse in good location. - Charming townhouse used for overnight stopover
- Alan (7/5): Good - Authenticity of the decor Sparse for western tastes
- Miao (8/5): It was a good stay. - The location is great. The guest house is large (by Japan standard). The bathroom is very good. Check in and check out was super easy. The house was dusty. The pillows are small and flat. There is a toaster oven but no microwave.
- Maryam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ewan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zhiqiang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allison (9/5): we enjoyed our stay very much! thank you! - Very close to various sites - station, bus, grocery shop, mr gyoza!! great to experience a traditional townhouse!
- Antti (9/5): A comfy Kyoto townhouse as a temporary home - Miro was a good place to stay in middle of a trip for few days. The privacy and calmness one can get in a small Kyoto townhouse where you can do your own cooking etc. is awesome. The location is good and the nearby Toji temple offered some good cherry blossom viewing in both day and night.
Some might find the konbini to be a bit far away but I didn't feel it was that far. For people that like to walk the Kyoto station is also reachable by foot even with luggage. Bus stops were also pretty close by.
The place was clean and in general was what I would expect a townhouse to be. Automatically (by pressing a button) filling bath was easy to use and relaxing after a long day. :) A lot of storage spaces (closets) were marked as "Staff Only" and I felt I missed some storage space which could be handy. Also having some kind of rack to try the kitchenware after washing might be a good improvement.
Since the walls are pretty thin in the townhouses you can sometimes hear neighbors but that is to be expected and not a real issue but worth mentioning anyway :)
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - It is a really cute house in a residential area, felt very authentic with the tatami flooring and sliding doors
Easy transport access to the rest of kyoto and quite close to Kyoto station
We were worried about it being cold but the heaters worked really well and it was never too cold
The host is lovely with great communication
Bath was really deep and so relaxing
Lots of space! We really loved our stay here and can't think of anything bad to say
- Green (9/5): Superb - Great facilities and a fantastic experience Was a little harder traversing the city than in places like Tokyo and Osaka
- Siew (6/5): Pleasant - Lighting in the house was bright enough and the location was good, a stone's thrown from Toji Temple and accessible by bus or from the Toji train station. The wifi worked well. Do ask for the wifi password from the host. The notes given erroneously said the password is on a sticker on the router. As we are both aged more than 60, the steep climb from the second level bedrooms down to use the toilet at night was a bit difficult. If you are young and nimble, it should be no problem. Both toilets are downstairs, and each person gets one set of towels - a bath towel and a hand towel. Also, if there are 2 persons, both are to use the bedroom with the 2 beds; futon will only be provided for the second bedroom upon extra payment.
- Mehmet (10/5): Exceptional - traditional japanese house with amazing amenities.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
