• 575NeilH (10/5): Best B and B in Umhlanga Rocks! - Fantastic hosts/staff and accomodation. Special mention for the lady who cooked breakfast. She was amazing and so friendly. A real asset to the business. We had the Strelitzia room which came with its own terrace. Perfect for sunbathing and alfresco dining. 5 minute walk from restaurants and bars. Super safe area. After being away from S.A. for 26 years I had forgotten just how friendly durbanites are. Although Umhlanga has grown it still has a beach town vibe and is the perfect place to base your holiday. We stayed for 2 weeks and could easily have done a month. Hopefully next time. Thanks so much guys, we had a great time! Neil and Summer -x-
• GlobeTrotting729793 (10/5): Exceptional Comfort and Warm Hospitality - I recently stayed at Anchor's Rest while my husband was undergoing open-heart surgery at a nearby hospital, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Cilla and Peter were incredibly hospitable. All the staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to assist—nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The sunrise views from my room, overlooking the pool, were absolutely idyllic and brought me a sense of calm each morning. The location is also excellent—within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and just a quick drive to the beautiful Umhlanga Promenade. The rooms were very comfortable, and I appreciated the convenience of the self‑service bar, which made it easy to enjoy a quiet drink in the inviting communal lounge. The pool area was beautiful and so relaxing. I truly enjoyed my stay and hope to return—with my husband next time
• Missmossy1 (10/5): Superb Getaway - The villa was a perfect place for a break away. Cilla, Marilyn, Peter & their team did everything they could to make our trip great. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully placed around a nice veranda & pool. The breakfast was made to order & was plentiful & fresh. The lounge area was made really nice by the large well equipped bar serving very reasonably priced drinks. The villa is situated within walking distance of restaurants, bars & the beach & an easy Uber ride to Durban. We will return.
• I1192BXelaine (10/5): Wonderful stay at Anchors Rest - We had a great holiday at Anchors Rest. Our room was large and airy with a comfortable bed and we had a spacious bathroom with windows. The best feature which we loved was the verandah that looked onto tropical gardens. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed swimming in the pool. • cliffs613 (10/5): Quiet and Comfy ! - I had a wonderful stay at Anchors Rest late last month. It is clean, roomy with an excellent breakfast. I met the owners and their wonderful staff member, all of whom were welcoming. It features only six guest rooms, but is roomy and even has a pool. It was only a five minute walk to restaurants, and a few more to the beach. It is a great example of the uniqueness of bed and breakfast versus a conventional hotel. I will gladly return.

We were greeted warmly by the lovely owner Cilla on the first evening and then every morning by Sandy. We enjoyed our morning chats at breakfast with Sandy. The breakfast spread was superb. The omelletes were out of this world! Best ever! The staff were lovely, the room very comfortable and spacious. It had a fridge which we made use of for snacks. All little details were thought about to make sure that you had everything we needed. There is WI-FI in the rooms as well. We utilized the laundry service, which was great. We stayed in the superior room and loved it. We will be back! Thank you Anchor's Rest team for making our trip comfortable!
• JohnoP3543BX (6/5): Disappointing room - I was given a small self catering unit under the garage which I was unaware of when I booked. The unit was dark and dungie and had a very disturbing smell when you entered. The unit also consisted of a bath and no shower. I expected a much better experience considering the price. When I bought this to the management's attention, it seemed they were well aware of it. I would have appreciated a call from the owner regarding my experience, unfortunately that never happened.
• lkenne338758 (8/5): Flying visit - We had a one night visit to Anchors Rest Guest house. It was supposed to be 2 nights but due to flight issues it became 1 unfortunately. Cilla was a lovely host and made us very welcome. Our room had all we needed and was very comfortable.

Accommodations are plentiful but prices a bit higher than surrounding areas. Very close to the international airport. The Gateway mall was close by and Uber transportation made getting around quite simple.

Upon arrival, my parent’s room was upgraded. They enjoyed their stay - well organised, clean and spacious room, close to the beach and restaurants and a lovely breakfast.

I also loved their dogs! The location of this place is perfect. Close to the ocean, shops and restaurants.

• Peter (10/5): Best stay by far - Our best stay in South Africa by far. We stayed for 6 days. So sad to leave. Sandy looked after us and nothing was too much trouble. Our spacious room opened onto a terrace overlooking a beautiful pool and garden area. A great breakfast. Staff were excellent always smiling, in a great leafy quiet residential area and only a 5 minute walk to many shops and restaurants. We will be back when we return to South Africa

Property is located a short walk from good restaurants and bars. Peter and Cilla were very welcoming. Would highly recommend staying here.
• rogerH8005SF (8/5): Roger and Heather - Apart from being allocated the Cheetah room as opposed to the Yellowood room our booking was confirmed for, we were impressed with the quality of accommodation, offering secure parking albeit a little tight, and the location which is well within walking distance of Umhlanga Village. Although we did not take the breakfast option or make use of the pool and bar, we would highly recommend Anchor's Rest as an ideal establishment for a short stay.

Das Guesthouse ist ideal gelegen, da man zu Fuss zum Lighthouse, zum Granny Pool sowie ins Zentrum zu den verschiedenen Restaurants gelangt. Sicherheit wird in diesem Quartier sehr gross geschrieben, wir fühlten uns jederzeit sicher.
