Guest Reviews
- Lindsay (10/5): - Loved the room it was super cozy with the personal fireplace and loved the jacuzzi tub. It was located in a great location- just a short walk to the main strip of stores and restaurants. Cant wait to go back again. Also, the cookies every evening were delicious ๐
- Mary (10/5): - Wonderful Inn within walking distance to most everything. Off the beaten track so it's quiet and relaxing. Parking is a bonus and the breakfast was amazing.
- glenn (6/5): - Very clean, and convenient to many points of interest. Price seems high vs other options.
No employees present most of the time.
Breakfast is included but for price not very good. Given the amount of other options we would not choose the Hill Top again
- Jessica (10/5): - We spent 2 nights at the Inn. The location was so perfect - we were able to walk to the Wharf area for activities and restaurants but also was far enough away from how busy that area can be on weekends. There is a coffee place just down the block but not really needed as the breakfast at the inn was delicious. The onsite parking was so convenient. Liz was so welcoming and made us feel at home. We were in the first floor room which had a huge bathroom and shower and the bed was very comfy. I will suggest the Inn to everyone I know going to Newport!
- JENNIFER (10/5): - The property is lovely, well located, walkable. Or room was clean, spacious and had beautiful decor. Breakfast was delicious and the nightly sweets were a great touch. And the on site manager was helpful and charming.
- Luis (10/5): - Lovely B&B with a fantastic location!
- Olivia (10/5): - Perfect walkable location. Great service and accommodations
- Terry (10/5): - The property was immaculate. The in keeper was very kind and helpful with things to do in Newport. I highly recommend this and will be back for another visit for sure.
- Alison (10/5): - Beautiful inn with very responsive staff. Loved the jacuzzi rooms and breakfast. The gas fireplace was perfect for a freezing day. Really great area, super quiet, and an easy walk to all the Newport shops and restaurants.
- Benjamin (10/5): - We had a fabulous stay here - the home was lovely as was our room and the service. The location top notch too. We intend to come back again.
- Damaris (10/5): - We had a great stay, very clean and quiet!! Great location as within walking distance from restaurants and shops!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just a bed, No breakfast.!! - The facility was lovely. We stayed in this B & B many times with previous owners. Was excited to return...but was very disappointed. The first morning we went down for breakfast the young lady came and introduced herself. Very pleasant. She said she would bring us breakfast and in less than a minute delivered 2 plates with... a sccop of cheesy potatoes, a pie slice of quiche and a slice of bacon cut in half. The food was not even warm. I barely touched it and my huisband who is allergic to eggs, ate the bacon from both our plates. It was all store prepared not freshly made in house. For the price of this place it should have been fresh!!! Also there was no juice to be had anywhere and we had to make our own coffee with a one cup kerig machine. So for the next 2 days we went elsewhere for breakfast. I will never stay here again. As for the staff, we never saw anyone, including the person cleaning rooms, for the rest of our stay. When we left there was noone to give keys to, so we left them in the kitchen on the island.
- Caleigh (10/5): - Highly recommend!
- Mario (10/5): - Easily one of the best experiences Iโve had at a B and B.
5 stars all the way!
- Kerry (10/5): - I would love to stay here again!
- Ryan (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay! Beautiful room and welcoming friendly staff
- Charles (10/5): Great find. - Very enjoyable experience. Great location. Hope to return in September.
- William (10/5): - Great communication and wonderfully kept property
- Amy (10/5): The Hilltop Inn is our favorite place to stay! - The Hilltop Inn is our favorite place to stay in Newport! The Inn is beautiful. The staff are very welcoming and care about the Inn and their visitors. It is also VERY clean and provides a safe parking area. Great location to walk to restaurants, shops, the harbor and the ocean. We continue to visit every year!
- Shudong (10/5): - very good location and service
- Amy (10/5): - Beautiful Inn! Super clean and staff were very accommodating. Great location to walk to all the Newport attractions. We loved it and will not stay anywhere else!
- Maria Eleanor L (10/5): - Kudos to Liz and her staff for the wonderful service. Superb location, within walking distance to Thames St, tourist-spots and restaurants. The inn is very inviting and cozy.
- Lisa (10/5): - We enjoyed our 4-night stay at The Hilltop Inn in Newport. We stayed in the Kay Room and were highly impressed by the cleanliness of the room, and the kindness of the room staff in providing an ice bucket and glasses (without being asked!) when we brought back a bottle of wine from a local vineyard. The decor and the grounds of the building are lovely and well kept. The back courtyard is also a nice place to hang out with a coffee in the morning, and the entrance to the house was a cool relief from the crazy heat outside. Breakfast is served daily, but we only partook of that on our first day, preferring to wander down the street in search of a cold brew coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The location is convenient in that it is far enough away from the hubbub of the waterfront area, but close enough to walk to it. A big hotel across the street has weddings regularly, but the only real noise we heard was some occasional music from that. It is a well-trafficked road, though, so be prepared for morning trash trucks and sometimes loud bass from cars at night. Parking can be tight at the Inn, depending on the type of vehicle you drive, and depending on how others park beside you. We only had one morning where it was a bit too close for our liking, but from then on we were able to safely open and close the car doors without dinging anyone, and without concern of being dinged. We would stay again. Note: children are allowed.
- Charles (10/5): - The homemade breakfast was delicious as were the treats that are out at night. It is within walking distance of dozens of great restaurants and attractions. Off street parking is terrific.
- Lynne (10/5): Excellent Stay at the Hilltop Inn - Our stay was very comfortable and we were very impressed how at-home we felt. The overall appearance and cleanliness was impeccable and every one of our needs was met. I would recommend the Hilltop Inn over a chain hotel any day.
- Louise (10/5): Perfect stay, in every way - The house is beautiful! Very well maintained and gorgeous with all original woodwork, built in cabinets, etc. The Bellevue Suite is amazing โ sitting room, huge bedroom and a bathroom to rival any spa. (The only potential issue with the suite is that itโs at the corner of the house closest to the intersection. If you have an aversion to mild street noise, you may want another room. This didnโt bother me, as Iโm used to some street noise at night and our windows were closed due to cold weather.) Breakfast was delicious and homemade. The staff was friendly and welcoming. And the location canโt be beat โ within walking distance to the area with shops, restaurants, and attractions. Itโs just a small drive to the Breakers and other mansions. I canโt wait to return!
- Stephen (10/5): - We loved the Inn for it's charming, authentic atmosphere. Comfortable bed. Beautiful, large bathroom.
A few things about breakfast, a healthier option like plain eggs, toast or muffin, fresh fruit and a baked good for breakfast would be a most welcome addition. Fried food is not something I would choose for breakfast. Also, a coffee pot with coffee available for breakfast would be preferable to a one cup machine that is time consuming and mostly out of supplies and in need of assistance. The breakfast room is absolutely beautiful and the staff is just lovely and helpful. We would love to return and will recommend the Hilltop Inn to our friends.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is well kept. The landscaping is beautiful and there is a beautiful backyard patio for guests to hang out. The rooms are kept clean, as is the house itself. Our bed was extremely uncomfortable. We sunk into the bed. It was evident that they were short staffed. Breakfast was so so. Snacks that were left for guests were grim (small ziplocs of stale apricots and nuts) etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Hilltop and staff made our anniversary very memorable. The location was perfect and the property is beautiful. It was so nice to have breakfast back in dining area. Patio is great for hanging out and loved our balcony to have coffee and enjoy sea breeze.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the entire stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed here for my husbandโs birthday and had an amazing time. The room was beautiful and clean and we loved the spa like bathroom. We would return in a heartbeat!
- Amaral (10/5): - i took my girlfriend here for her birthday for a night, and we loved it. the room was beautiful and a bottle of wine was in the room to start the night off. Liz, the inn keeper was so nice and on top of everything. she was emailing me before hand so
i could set everything up as a surprise. i would recommend and stay again!
- Patricia (10/5): Lovely Inn in the heart of Newport - This is a fabulous bed & breakfast within walking distance of the touristy section of Newport. The Innkeeper had fresh flowers everywhere and lots of snacks. There is also a private parking lot for guests.
The room was amazing. It was beautiful and had a large soak in tub with raindrop shower. There was a TV in the bathroom and a gas burning fireplace in the main room. I would highly recommend this Inn!
- Jeffrey (10/5): MUST STAY, perfect in every way! - Everything about our 2 night stay was perfect, the room was great, the bathroom was beautiful, the breakfast was excellent, they were very friendly and helpful, everything was perfect. We will stay there when we return to newport!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Liz was wonderful! The home is beautiful. We had suite with balcony which was so very nice. Breakfast was lovely. Perfect location. I will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Hilltop Inn was absolutely fabulous. Its location is terrific, situated at the top of Bellevue Avenue and it actually looks like the photos! I can't say enough good things about the beauty of the Inn, both inside and out. Also want to thank the Innkeeper Liz for her hospitality, delicious breakfasts and snacks and being there for my every request.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hilltop was a very pleasant rest to us after a very long 2 weeks of travel! The home reminded me so much of the home I grew up in 55 years ago! I was able to rest and enjoy this wonderful completion to our 40 anniversary trip to the Eastern Shore! Lovely and the breakfast was so wonderful especially to my husband who loves a hearty breakfast! Our only concern the entire stay was ..."where's the ice"! We are truly southerners! Beautiful and sweet time!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hospitality of staff and Inn keeper were so welcoming from the pre-arrival email to the end. One of the best hotels I stayed in! The sheets were ironed and the entire place had quality and cleanliness everywhere.
In addition, breakfast was delicious! When we stayed they were serving vegetable quiche, French toast (one of the best I tried), oats, juices, eggs and bacon/sausages, cereal, fresh juices...etc
In the evening there were always mini desserts which in fact made us skip desserts in restaurants because these were much better, served with hot tea, fresh fruits were also available daily!
The location was perfect- It was near many shops and streets so we ended up walking most of our stay!
Highly recommend the place!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hilltop is a beautiful property and the location is convent with parking. However, I would imagine it would be very noisy in the summer since it is right at a busy intersection. The innkeeper emailed me the week prior to my stay to ask about my check in time and if I had any food allergies. This was very thoughtful. My only complaint is that the rest of the house was rented to one family. So, they took over all of the common spaces and even spent one evening playing poker on the dining room table. It made me feel more like I was renting a room in someone's house. Other than that, my stay was lovely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great area and property. Would love to stay again!!
- Brandon (10/5): Great for the value. - Wonderful place to stay. Quiet. Centrally located, free parking, Great breakfast. Spacious room. One picture uploaded shows a view from the room.
- JanetThompson (10/5): - Picture perfect inn. Loved it!! Liz was wonderful.
- Robert (10/5): - Very clean, comfortable and a very friendly staff. Short walk to the downtown area.

- John O' Connell (10/5): Relaxing getaway. - Very nice inn, with 5 suites in older Victorian that has been renovated keeping the older charm. Room was very nice with ensuite bathroom. Within walking distance of just about all of Newport except for mansions. Room was cozy with a fireplace. Inn keeper Ann was very nice and provided us with a very tasty home cooked breakfast and also provided snacks. Use of refrigerator was also handy. A nice relaxing getaway. We enjoyed staying there and will go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hospitality was amazing! THey even emailed to see if I had any allergies.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - felt very welcome, delicious breakfast, walkable to shops and dining, immaculate rooms, tastefully decorated, helpful staff, would definitely recommend and stay again, lovely environment, evening snacks, small and quaint
