Guest Reviews
- Richard (9/5): Great little apartment with a great host amd easy walking distance into town. - The location was fantastic and walkable into the city. The communication with Emma was great, she answered our questions practically immediately. The bed was warm and comfortable. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed for our 3 day stay. It was great to be able to cook dinner! We didn’t have control of the heating. It was cold when we arrived however as soon as we messaged Emma she turned it on. The second night was great but the third night it didn’t come on again. It is much colder here than we ever experience at home. There was no free parking nearby. It cost £20 pound a day for a 3 days stay.
- Stephanie (1/5): Really disappointed and amenities advertised not available - Unfortunately nothing Booked this specifically as it advertised free parking and all the reviews confirmed this. I was instructed to send over my reg plate which I did however a week before I arrived I was informed that there is a new owner and parking is no longer available. I was told to park at the local cricket club at an additional cost!
Additionally, the TV didn’t work at all for our entire stay as it has no aerial or internet capability.
And finally, the adjoining house held a party and played loud music until 3am. Was an awful experience
- RON (8/5): - Close to traffic free centre of Bath and canal and river for walks. Parking available. Quiet location. Also close to rail and bus station. We felt most welcome. Some criticism in the past concerning steps down to access the appartment but no problem for a fit and agile 80 year old! We probably ate in more than many and at 80 needed the instruction manuals to be more obviously accessible! However the host living above soon helped us.
- Nicky (8/5): Lovely stay in Bath with parking facilities - The property is ideal for a couple on a weekend break with a child / young adult. The kitchen facilities were basic but sufficient for our needs. Location was excellent with an easy level walk into central Bath. The use of a parking permit was an added bonus - we had no difficulty parking opposite or in a nearby street. Road was very quiet. Host was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Stairs down to property were a bit steep and narrow. My husband does have mobility issues, but he was able to access the property with caution.
- Florencia (10/5): - We spent a lovely time! The studio is cosy, very clean, comfortable. The owner was kind to us and always present at our need.
- karen (10/5): Lovely ! Emma was very accommodating! - Clean and modern
- ELLEN (8/5): - Great location easy walk into town. Em organised parking for us too
- Pryce (10/5): - It was a wonderful location. Emma was extremely helpful; activating a parking permit before check in and offering to extend it on our last day. We will definitely return. NA
- Artur (9/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): Great hostess, great location - Emma, our hostess was amazing. If you needed anything, you only had to ask and Emma would fix it. The bed was very large and comfortable. This location is great. 2 minutes walk from the Kennet and Avon canal and about 7 minutes walk to the Abbey Square. TV was unreliable, despite Emma's best efforts to fix it.
- Margaret (9/5): - The accommodation was within easy walking distance of the city centre. The flat was a good size for my husband, me and our toddler.
The kitchen facilities were great, and the bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. Emma was great at responding to messages. We had a lovely stay! The door to the flat was down some steps so quite tricky if traveling with a toddler.

- Elizabeth (9/5): Really enjoyed our visit to Bath and definitely recommend the Art Studio. When we next visit our daughter at Bath uni I - Lovely quiet location within easy walking distance of Bath city centre. The studio flat is very cosy and nicely appointed with lots of beautiful artwork by Emma. It’s ideal for 2 people; we came with our daughter so space was a bit more limited but she found the pull out bed really comfortable! We always bring our own teabags/ coffee etc but it was really nice to see some provisions for hot drinks in the kitchen plus salt pepper etc. Emma was a great host and responded immediately to any queries. Many thanks Emma! Nothing
- Pat (10/5): Best place to stay near the Roman Baths, etc. Emma also provided a list of places to eat. The Artichect restaurant was p - Location to Bath old town was awesome, friendly and very caring staff. Emma went out of her way to make us feel at home by treating us as family after difficulty with our travels to England.
- Ka Man (9/5): - Great location. Lovely environment. Nice owner. We encountered some problem on water drainage and she showed up promptly to solve our problem. Kitchen can do simple dinner.
- Schiavetta (8/5): -
- Vivien (9/5): Très agréable séjour - Joli studio en contre bas d’une maison typique dans un quartier calme à proximité du centre historique à pieds.
Parking facile devant la maison (pris en charge par l’hôte) RAS
- Hitchcock Krystelle (7/5): - Well equipped kitchen
Art work Beautiful studio apartment
Fantastic location
Great stay
Thank you very much Emma
- Emily (8/5): Central location - Fabulous location for an easy stroll into Bath
Great communication with the host A little small as we were a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 teenager), however fine for the 2 nights we stayed
- Amanda (9/5): A comfortable and convenient place to stay, easy walk into Bath. - Great communication from Emma throughout our stay. She kindly arranged a parking permit, which was a thoughtful touch. The bed was really comfortable, and the kitchen had everything needed for cooking.
Otherwise, a comfortable and convenient place to stay, easy walk into Bath. A couple of things to note: the photos seem a little outdated now.
The bathroom is spacious, but there are some areas of black mould, and the shower doesn’t drain very well, best not to have it on full pressure.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - I would highly recommend the apartment it is in a prime location and is very clean.
The host was very helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay.
- Jane (8/5): Cosy and enjoyable accommodation close to the action, but not too close. - Friendly and welcoming owner who organised a parking permit for the duration of our stay (very much appreciated) and provided an information booklet of local establishments and attractions.
Great location within walking distance of the city and the canal.
Well-equipped kitchenette and loads of toiletries and loo paper.
Being below street level, the room stayed cool (lovely in the current hot weather). Plenty of natural light coming from the door and window, so it didn’t feel like a bunker. Steep and narrow stairs down to the front door. Not an issue for us but it might be for less-mobile travellers.
- Shelley (6/5): Comfortable beds close to town - Location.
Coffee machine
Beds comfortable but slide around, revealing dust under the beds. The pictures do not reflect the property. The room is cluttered with things on every surface . The walls are full of the owner’s art work. A pamphlet in the kitchen was dated2022. When you add an extra bed for a third person it is crowded. There were no cupboards to unpack any clothes. This property needs a big declutter.
It is down below street level and the stairs are hard to manoeuvre suitcases. The shower had mould on the ceiling. The cupboard in the bathroom were full of discarded shampoo and mould spray. There were large cobwebs behind the TV. Please remove the dvd player and music in bureau it would leave more space.
- Christine (9/5): A Perfect Stay in Bath - Emma is a very responsive and accommodating host. She is also a talented artist! We greatly appreciated her help with a slightly later checkout, after getting up at 3 am on Sunday to drive to Stonehenge for a Sunrise visit. Thank you Emma! The Art Studio is a compact well organised studio perfectly located close to everything in Bath. We enjoyed our two night stay and would have loved to stay longer. Some issues with plumbing but minor. Bath in general struggles with wi-fi connectivity. However we weren't there for that reason!
Thanks Emma. Good luck with the artwork. ! Nothing.
- Mark (10/5): A great self contained place to stay in an excellent location for walking into the city - Excellent location for walking into Bath
Located in a quiet street
Great communication from the host
Everything was clean and tidy
All facilities were there for self catering No, all good
- Jayne (8/5): Emma is a wonderful host and didn’t mind us asking her to help with the TV or turn on the heating in the morning which i - Location was great and Emma is extremely helpful. Had trouble with the TV. Emma said ‘dropping out constantly’ was an overall issue for everyone in Bath but we kept getting network reconnect messages and we had no login details.
- Susan (8/5): Very good - We liked the beds abd cleanliness. The location was very convenient. It was good to be able to close a door between the kitchen and bedroom areas. The best factor was the timely and friendly communication with the host, especially given the booking from Australia and coordination with our friend here in the UK. The narrow stairs down to the front door was a bit tricky with heavy suitcases and quite challenging on the way up. Otherwise, no problems at all.
- Jan (8/5): Very good - A comfortable property which was very handy to the town. Friendly and helpful hosts
- Allison (9/5): Superb - Very cosy. Super position
- Christoffel (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Fabio (10/5): Very close to the city center, excellent value for money. - Location, very close to the center Nothing, everything was in order and as e expected.
- Manola (8/5): Lovely place to stay for a couple of days close to town - Private, close to town and the host Leaky tap in kitchen,
- Geoffrey (9/5): Pleasant and problem free! - Very convenient and quiet. A few minutes walk to Widcombe main. Street as typical an English town high street as you could want with nice pub and eating options. Also of course pretty close to the sights of Bath. Very nicely appointed unit. Not a problem for me yet but access is down a rather steep set of stairs, probably best avoided if you’re a bit wobbly on your feet.
- Nadene (9/5): A great place for a short stay in Bath. - Friendly hosts, great location and comfortable beds. Kitchen and bathroom were a little bit awkward but satisfactory for a short stay. TV and internet were not really adequate for our expectations.
- Isabelle (7/5): Very good night sleep… what we needed. - The bed! Super comfortable… The bathroom could be larger…
- Lucia (10/5): Exceptional - The Art Studio is in a fantastic location and has a wonderful host Emma, who is an amazing artist and so wonderfully friendly.
I am so pleased this place popped up for me on Bookings, (fate was calling), and I booked straightaway. You really will not be disappointed if you do.
I enjoyed every part of my stay in March I spent 3 amazing nights in a amazing cozy bed surrounded by Emma's art work and a peaceful setting.
Everything is in close proximity from this home from home, Including the train station. If you want to go slowly walking, shop, eat, enjoy nature, explore the historical sights of Bath or have a Thermal Spa, Bath really does have it all. There is so much to do and see in this glorious place and your host Emma is so friendly and on hand, (in person or via message), to give you great suggestions or answer any questions that you have.
The Art Studio, (which is a huge studio by the way), helped me to chill, reset my mind and just was so cozy all that was missing was my cat and I could have stayed there forever.😂 It was great having a whole space to myself.
I would highly recommend as this place is exceptional.
The sun shone all the days I was in Bath. Of course it did - I was staying in the crème de la crème!
Book it before you miss out and as an added bonus you can buy the art literally off the walls. Fantastic!
Make sure you view Emma's work online If you can't get to stay here as The Art Studio is in high demand and booked in advance.
Emmas work is on all the social media platforms and Etsy.

If you do get the opportunity to book The Art Studio you can take a piece of Bath and the Art Studio home with you.
Emma thank you for everything. I hope to return very soon.

- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Aleisha (10/5): Great weekend away - Good sized space, kitchen had everything you needed including milk, tea and coffee. The properly is less than a 10 minute walk into the centre of Bath.
- S (9/5): Great little studio - Really well situated for central Bath just a short walk from all.the attractions. Emma the host was really kind and flexible about arranging parking and check in. The studio had everything we needed including a hot plate and microwave for preparing simple food. Nothing
- Neil (9/5): Thoroughky enjoyable. Would love to stay there again. - Emma was extremely helpful and welcoming.
- Jemima (10/5): Exceptional - Plenty of communication and easy to collect The Wifi was slightly off but communication with host 10/10 and keep us updated. Nothing else to fault but possibly need another bedside table :)
- Michael (2/5): Disappointing, if you can afford it go elsewhere - Shower is good, nice hot water. Good location and art. Bed uncomfortable, cold at night (though you request the host to put on the heating), supplied pans weren't usable, towels were very old, poor ventilation. Tiled floors. We left early as we couldn't sleep well.
- Linda (9/5): Wonderful mid week break in a very interesting place - Location was excellent very easy to walk into bath never used our car at all so the free parking met our needs
Emma our host was very helpful Nothing
- Gillian (8/5): Very comfortable and convenient. - Convenient location Difficult to find in the dark!
- Terri (6/5): Pleasant - Location is excellent. Only a short walk to the centre of Bath.
- Jack (9/5): Superb - Really spacious studio and that was super cozy and well worth the money for our first time in Bath!
- Samuel (9/5): Really loved it a beautiful place! - Nice and easy
- Sian (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good Basement Base - Little self contained basement apartment, just a note that the steps are quite steep down to it. The property was clean throughout and had all you needed. Unfortunately for us we did not sleep well, pillows too soft and everytime one of us moved the bed did too, maybe a bed not on wheels would be beneficial. Also there was quite a bit of noise from the house above, only foot traffic but it was quite loud.
Cannot fault communication with Emma, she responded promptly by email and phone and arranged a permit for parking on the street for when we arrived.
The property is a good base for Bath, just a 10minute stroll into the centre.
- Frances (9/5): Superb - Lovely flat, nice and warm, a short walk to city centre, and free parking right outside. No problems
- Samantha (10/5): Lovely host who always answered question prompt. Friendly. Nothing didn’t like about the stay. - Location was excellent. Clean Nothing
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb - Very central location with all the home comforts which made our stay very enjoyable
- Jones (7/5): Good - Location Parking
- Karen (9/5): Fabulous!! - Fantastic location, great to not have to use the car for the whole weekend. Apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Would thoroughly recommend and would definately stay again . Thank you emma x
- Steven (10/5): Perfect for a stay to visit Bath, hope we get the opportunity to visit again! - A host that really cared about the quality of our stay, even making sure that our baby wasn’t woken when they were going about their everyday chores
- Katrina (9/5): A great, comfortable stay - suited our group perfectly - Great location to walk everywhere Washing up liquid and a cloth would have been useful, plus more hooks in the bathroom , otherwise great
- Ellie (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay was great with the location being about a 10 minute walk into town. Emma, who owned the place, was so friendly and welcoming. The place was so cosy and had lots of good facilities to use in the kitchen.
- Michael (8/5): Very good - wemade our own breakfast
- Sue99 (8/5): Very convenient for our event. Excellent parking options. Host communication excellent. - Helpful with the parking. Storage for non hanging clothes etc
- Carolanne (10/5): Perfect place to stay to visit such a beautiful city - Everything about our stay was perfect. Safe, comfortable would recommend. Nothing
- Lesley76 (8/5): Very good -
- Lilly (10/5): Exceptional - It was within quick walking distance of the main town, the bed was huge & super comfortable & having our own kitchen was amazing. The TV was great as there were many options on what to watch at the end of the day.
- Laura (9/5): Lovely little find. - Lovely little floor apartment, it was super close to town, pubs, shops, and restaurants. Extremely comfy bed with extra pillows and blankets , fully equipped kitchen with a bottle of milk left for us and some cookies, which was a lovely thoughtful gesture and much appreciated, parking was simple Emma sorted that we just called her when we arrived, would definitely stay again . Steps are quite steep going down in the apartment, not such a problem for us a young couple, but they might be for others to get your case down, but they are well lit up at night .
- Michelle (8/5): We could easily enjoy bath! - Location No teaspoons, a window jammed open, and a loose bit of plastic on the access door that prevented closing the door which wasn’t great. We had to ask for assistance, and got, but it wasn’t good enough.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Great place, would stay again. - It was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is good as it is a very quiet neighbourhood but easily walkable from the station and city centre. The studio has everything you need and a is very cozy!
- Chasethesuncaro (10/5): Fabulous stay! - Everything! Apartment is just a short walk from the train station and main town - very walkable, even with suitcases. The bed was comfortable and Emma, the host, was lovely! Would gladly stay again would recommend to my friends. Bathroom had no extractor fan or place to put your toileteries bag - a shelf would be great but we survived ;) also recommend putting castor's on the wheels of the bed as it moved everytime we got in and out but this just made us giggle! Honestly, was a great stay and these are just little things :)
- Catrin (10/5): Really enjoyable stay in Bath, highly recommended - Very convenient to Bath town centre, free on street parking, excellent communication from host Nothing
- Catherine (6/5): It is a sweet place full of potential and the host was ever so welcoming. - The curved stairs down to the property where difficult to manoeuvre heavy suitcases as it was narrow and tight. Not good when you have just travelled over 20 hours to get there and just want to walk easily through a door!
Also the main bed is two single beds pushed together, with castors on the legs. So, if you rolled over in bed you would need to be careful not to fall through the middle onto the cold tiled floor. The castors just need some caps on them to prevent this happening. It was like ice-skating in bed! It also needs some mats or runners on the floor in the cooler months, as the tiled floor was so very cold under foot when getting out of bed and the bathroom. Maybe providing slippers for guests would be a nice touch. When using the shower it is on a pump system, so the water wasn't able to drain away quickly causing water to pool around your feet as you took a shower. The basin was also a bit too small making it difficult to wash your face or brush your teeth comfortably without splashing water all over the floor. There is a small window in the kitchen looking out to the neighbouring houses. It's not necessary, but it would give that English touch to have a pretty flowering shrub or pot plant just outside the window, instead of looking at concrete. These little touches set you apart from other properties.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorraine (10/5): A great little apartment to stay in and get to know Bath - Location was perfect very close to the centre A few steps down to the apartment, ok for me but my mother found it a challenge
- Sarah (9/5): Amazing stay in Bath - Loved the accommodation and the location. Perfect for our adventures in and around Bath. Only difficulty was cooking for 3 on the single hotplate, but we got there in the end....
- Julie (8/5): Easy walking distance. - Walking location to all the main sites in Bath, including restaurants, cafes, museums, and bars. The steep set of stairs to enter the unit. As the unit is below a house, I wouldn’t like to be carrying large bags down there small overnight bag was fine.
- Elise (10/5): Amazing few days, great apartment and excellent host, thank you Em - Everything was fantastic. From the communication before and during our stay, to the little touches that made our time in Bath even more memorable. The location is perfect, as it’s a little more quiet and private but very close (5 minute walk) to the centre. The apartment is cosy, cool and clean and the artwork throughout is lovely. Bed is very comfortable and slept well both nights. Shower is nice and big. Em is lovely and very helpful - she made my boyfriend’s surprise birthday trip extra special as she baked a cake and organised balloons for the room before we arrived. I would definitely recommend staying here when visiting Bath, and we would return to this apartment on our next stay N/A
- Anta (9/5): Cosy and central - Location was perfect, 10 minute walk to town, also some nice walks along canals nearby
- Ali (8/5): Very good - Compact, clean, tidy, well equipped, and
well situated, perfect for our weekend get away. We liked everything, but 1 simple thing as an extra bedside table would have been welcome.
- Christina (9/5): Superb -
- Mckenzie (10/5): Would reccomnd - Wonderful accommodations! Great location!
- Malgorzata (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place, we enjoyed our visit to Bath, the apartment is close to the city centre, quiet and nice place .
- Dean (9/5): Great host and location. - Emma was a great host and very helpful making it a great weekend Nothing
- Fionnuala (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophia (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Location, Location, Location - Great location, within walking distance to all the sites, like the Baths, Circus and the Gravel path, Poultney Brg and not forgetting Sally Lunns. We were lucky with the parking and found a spot a few hundred metres away and found another spot closer in the morning since we walked everywhere and it's so close to the city, but had we used the car daily looking for a place to park would have difficult, permits are required, our host provided ours so we could park on the street.
- Peter (10/5): A fantastic find near city centre - Nice space and ideally located near city centre. Host was lovely and very helpful with everything.
- Lesley (10/5): Comfortable and convenient stay - Proximity to the centre of Bath yet close to walks along the canal. Quiet comfortable location. Very good communication with owner. Nothing.
- Ina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rosy (10/5): SURELY RECOMMEND . THE OWNER WAS SO FRIENDLY AND MADE US FEEL HOME. - THE PLACE WAS CENTRAL LOCATED TO HIGH STREET . VERY COMFORTABLE STAY. VERY CLEAN . VALUE FOR MONEY.
SURELY RECOMMEND . NO COMMENTS
- Abi (9/5): Perfect for a 2 night stay with friends. Location is great for a walk to the Christmas markets. - Comfortable beds, warm, fabulous location. Nothing
- Heather (8/5): Comfortable, great location - Excellent location for the town centre, super comfortable bed, pleasant temperature, nice rain shower. Good to have a coffee machine and cafetiere and a large selection of teabags. Hardly any traffic noise and the apartment was dark for sleeping. Everything looked clean and fresh. Wifi was good and reliable. It was Christmas so the apartment had a few discreet decorations inside and two mince pies were left for us, as well as a small jug of milk in the fridge, which was a thougtful touch. Nice artwork all around and cards available to purchase. Further information (neutral): It's a basement apartment accessed via 11 steep narrow stone steps on a curve. There is no handrail but the descent it is well-lit. Once inside there is no view out, except for onto a bit of wooden fence right next to the kitchen window. The kitchen is very well-equiped, with pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, a toaster, microwave, kettle and fridge, but very cramped with no space to prepare any food. The tiny eating area (breakfast bar) is only just about deep enough for one plate and barely long enough for two people and the two chairs do not fit underneath it side by side. The bathroom size is adequate, although the sink is so tiny it's quite a challenge to brush ones teeth! Washing-up liquid and tea towels were provided and there were plenty of toilet rolls. In the evenings there was noise from above and from the adjoining room, such as footsteps, talking, pets running around and barking, but completely silent in this regard during the night. It seemed to be a safe area. Parking provision - Emma organised a zone 2 parking permit for us, but there were no spaces available near the apartment nor in the two adjoining roads, so we had to walk quite a way with our luggage (not much, luckily). Given the ratio of dwellings to zone 2 parking places in the vicinity, I would be surprised if it is ever possible to park within a reasonable distance of the apartment.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - 10 minutes from the city centre, host was lovely, had everything we needed A couple of hooks for coats/towels would have been great but such a small thing - the facilities in general were brilliant
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Joanna (8/5): Very good - Host was very nice. Location excellent. Studio was very clean. Good size for couple but bit too small for 3 adults.
- Alister (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, within 10 minutes walk of Bath town centre. Our host was very helpful and friendly. She arranged a street parking permit for our car and even delivered some fresh home made cake soon after we arrived!
- Susan (8/5): Comfortable stay that met all our needs for the weekend - Comfortable with good facilities. Friendly helpful host. Good location and free parking nearby. Steep stone steps down to flat. Lack of bedside table on one side. Shower tray a bit slippery.
- James (7/5): Good - Very friendly exchanges with the owner, was available for anything we needed. The location was perfect. It is in a basement with very little natural light, and was slightly damp (could feel it in bedsheets)The shower blocked up and the toilet seat wasnt attached properly. A leak around the sink in the kitchen. It needs a little revamp, but on the whole was satisfactory.
- Heather (5/5): Disappointing Accommodation in Bath - Great location - walking distance to city centre Bath and good recommends for local pubs and restaurants! Very helpful host with organising a parking permit for our stay! We were travelling as 3 adults and would only recommend for 2 adults. Sleeper couch not adequate for an adult and limited space within the room. Unable to open the window or leave the front door open to air the room due to a visiting cat which meant no ventilation at night. One member of the party is asthmatic and found the scent of the room overpowering and we put this down to the laundry detergent/softener used for the towels.
- Patrick (7/5): Good - Shower Steep steps down to room
- Parag (9/5): Close to center, family friendly - Comfortable stay close to center. We were given a cot for baby. Friendly owner. None
