Guest Reviews
- Iilan (2/5): I’ll not recommend to arrive at this hotel. It’s not to be trusted. - It’s rare I’m writing reviews. So far, I shared only 5-6. I’m writing only if it was exceptionally amazing experience or a real disaster…
It’s the first time for me to share an extremely negative experience.
When you arrive at hotel, you expect me to feel minimum trust with it
I stayed for 2 nights in this budget hotel. Usually, people traveling to Flores Island to take one of the ‘Komodo island day trips’. They will be picked up very early in the morning (5:30-6:00am). The trip operator gives clear instructions of how to prepare? what to bring? Ect.
Due to the intensity of the day structure, the traveler has to bring a breakfast box (because it will be very long, before food can be in reach).
I asked the hotel manager if they can provide it to me? She confirmed, mentioning it’s a usual procedure in that area.
5:15 I arrived at the reception… no one was there. Neither the breakfast box.
Things can happen, it’s not a big deal…
When returning back from the day trip, I asked reception to shortly talk with the hotel manager, just to understand what happened? The hotel manager refused to communicate and just disappeared until I departed the next day.
I’ve never experienced before such a behavior, specially from a hotel manager…
It raised a big big Red Flag.
Bottom line: I’ll not recommend to arrive in this hotel. Basically, It’s not to be trusted.
- stevencM6722HL (10/5): Excellent bed and aircon - The best things about this hotel are the staff, the room, the view and the breakfast. The young manager, Lele, attended to our every need. She was very good at her job. I would definitely stay here again. The sunset view over the bay is very beautiful.
- JJohnOz (6/5): Value for money BUT.... - I stayed 4 nights. I will start by saying the accommodation is good value for money.
The rooms are large and have a table and chairs. The bathrooms are outdated and hot water is not consistently available. The beds are comfortable.
Location: good. Easy walk down to harbour. Uphill back but relatively easy.
Staff: Hmmm. Friendly but totally disinterested in providing service. If you want anything you need to find someone.
Overall it is value for money. Don’t expect any customer service. When you get a meal you will need to go and find your own condiments etc.
would I stay here again? No. Better options available.
- markvhki (10/5): Friendly and cute! - Lovely family run place with clean and spacious rooms, working a/c and hot water with absolutely stunning views to the harbor. Staff is super friendly and restaurant provides delicious seafood with very affordable prices. Excellent value for the money, definitely recommended!
- Asia888888 (2/5): THE STAFF AND SERVICE IS HORRBILE. - We staid in this hotel for 5 night, and they didn’t provide us in 5 nights, even one time got shower. We told them hundred times that the water was cold but they didn’t cared.
The owner is very nice and but the staff is horrible, they wanted to blame us for having stole the AC remoter to get money from us, (they kept it), they always answered in a bad way and always were rude to us. I told them about the water and they answered me “and so? what can I do?”, are you kidding me?
The bathroom was dirty and was stinking 24hon24.
NEVER.
Suggestions: World Bnb and Seasta
- Madebylon (8/5): Hotel is basic, restaurant is awesome and service is 5 stars - When we first arrived here, it was not quite what we expected. Some work needs to be done but that’s the situation for every hotel in Labuan Bajo. That being said: the room was clean and cool. Would be nice if the windows in the room could be covered with mosquito nets.
The restaurant is great! Best chicken sate we had during our trip to Indonesia. All the dishes are really tasteful. We tried other places but this restaurant was by far our favourite.
Konstatin, the host there, helped us out so much! He arranged a scooter rental for a good price and he could give us useful recommendations for restaurants. We also booked a two-day-one-night boat tour via him, which was great! It was quite cheap (about 1.3 mln for two persons, excl. entrance to the islands). Our captain was Captain Bek. He speaks quite a bit of English. Not only is he a captain, he is also a tour guide, a chef and a photographer. The meals on the boat were fresh and delicious: rice, fish, vegetables, egg and fruit with loads of drinking water on board. We visited islands, did hiking trails and went snorkeling. Captain Bek really made an effort to find the best spots for Manta watching, to spot turtles, and to make the best pictures for and with us. We really recommend staying at Pesona Restaurant and Room and book a tour with Captain Bek.
Best season to visit is right after rain season (we were there beginning of March) because the islands are green. Downside of our boat was the sleeping: we slept on the boat which was fine and comfortable if we would not have been next to a boat with AC: the other boat had a aggregate next to our room so we smelled a lot of petrol all night long. Fortunately we were there with only 7 boats instead of 70 during high season.
- JonLarra (8/5): Very confortable hotel in Labuanbajo - My girlfiend and I stayed there for a couple nights and were very pleased with the hotel. The rooms were always clean, there is good views from the top of the hotel and it's within walking distance from all the dive schools and restaurants.
- theboat87 (8/5): Good place, location not ideal - This place was pretty good we were met with a strong smell of varnish when we went into our room (they said they just moved in furniture) so we changed and the room was fine overall, air con worked bed was comfy. Really good breakfast and the owner dropped us to the airport so all in all it was good. The only issue is where it is, it's a walk up a busy road in the dark in the evening, that's the only thing.
- S9908ZQsarahp (8/5): Good rooms @ cheap price with A/C - We stayed here between tours for around 5 nights total.
Rooms:
Rooms are quite big, sparse and air con works well.
Bathroom was a bit dirty and still wet everytime.
Wouldn't reccomend if your on 'holiday' but if you're travelling its great value as the cheapest and best double rooms with air con
Food:
I believe this is supposed to be a restaurant but looked like they may be renovating as only a few tables for breakfast.
Breakfast was good with pancakes, omelette and fruit.
Location:
We found it great as off the main road and only a 5 ish walk down the hill
- satua2013 (8/5): Very nice - I stayed in Pesona for two nights and it was really nice. The new rooms are very nice, big, light. Aircon is good , huge bed is very comfy, and wifi is fast. Staff is super friendly and view from the restaurant is beautiful. The only thing is that the water stays on bathroom floor so the shower corner is never really dry so there were some mosquitos in the bathroom. However, keep the door closed - problem solved!
- J (6/5): Good restraunt and clean room but photos are a lie - They're building out the back of the place so that the room now has a freeze block wall in front of the window making the room feel like a basement. Otherwise a descent place for the money clean comfortable and the food at the restraunt is very good.
- 225thijsp (8/5): Clean and spacious rooms - Pesona has clean rooms for a good price. WiFi was extremely fast, staff was friendly and food was good. The place was a little boring looking though. The room had a comfy bed and a small bench in it - very functional but there was nothing in the room to make it feel a little more homey or to jazz it up. Same with the restaurant: it had a terrace with a beautiful view but the entire terrace was empty! You could grab a chair from the restaurant and take a seat there though.
All in all, we had a good stay. Hopefully the staff will work on the atmosphere so Pesona will have a little more character next time we visit.
- jimmycrabfish (8/5): Worth your money! - Pesona Restorant and Room is primarily a restaurant serving delicious food with very fair prices. The presentation of the food at the restaurant is very pretty and you’ll be hard pressed to find better value elsewhere in Labuan Bajo, especially since the restaurant has a good view of the harbor and evening horizon (the view might be even better once the constructions are complete). The newer business is the rooms, accessible via concrete steps beside the restaurant entrance.
The rooms themselves are clean and spacious. Although lacking in furniture, the basics are provided. The room we stayed in had a comfortable double bed and a cushioned bench, with cool tiles for flooring. An effective air conditioning system was in place and a solid door leading to the bathroom/toilet. The bathroom, albeit new, was a little bare and basic, with a simple shower system, tap and basin, and a flushing toilet. The major issue was that there were 2 holes to the outside (for ventilation I suppose) and mosquitos came in freely. Due to the bed not having any mosquito nets, we were careful in opening and closing the bathroom door so that no mosquitos could get into the main bedroom area. Lastly, the accommodation lacked mirrors, so we had to make do with my girlfriend’s makeup mirror.
Ultimately, Pesona is very worth the price (board and food together). For short stays, there really aren’t any issues except for the 5~10min walk into town (downhill to town and uphill from) which some may find a little tiring. The staff are friendly enough by local standards and were happy to help out if necessary (packed breakfasts available on request for early start dive days). The food is a total winner. For longer stays, the lack of furniture may become an annoyance to those seeking more comfortable resort experiences. Pesona is a treat if you’re not so bothered about high-class accommodation and simply want a great place to relax and eat, whilst having easy access into town.
- katzschen (8/5): Simple but nice - The hotel is located "at the top" of the town, so you may need to walk a bit if you want to check the main street, but on the other hand is quiet and the view from the room is stunning. For me it was a perfect choice.
Room was big and clean, bathroom... well, like all the bathrooms there, has seen better times, but we didn't expect much ;) there's aircon and wi-fi. Yummy breakfast (I recommend pineapple pancake) and also good other meals in the restaurant. The owner then took us to the airport by car (no fee).
The place is simple but nice. I can definitely recommend it!
