Z7496GXkristenj (10/5): This is how you do the bay - When you first set eyes on the Wylder Hotel - with its pristine white sidings, contrasting dark shutters, and manicured lush trees - you’re all at once hit with that special feeling of coastal comfort, the kind only found in quaint, idyllic East Coast beach towns. Next, you walk through the cozy and welcoming check-in area and you meet Ramon - the attentive front desk supervisor who radiates warmth - and you automatically know you’re going to love your stay here. And finally, when you see the crown jewel of this hotel, its panoramic Bay side view, you realize that you never want to leave. My best friend and I decided to take an impromptu staycation at the Wylder Hotel and we couldn’t be more happy with our visit. There’s so much to experience at this gorgeous hotel. From the heated-salt outdoor pool to fun water adventure activities in the Bay to eating s’mores by the fire pits. Our stay at Wylder was brief, way too brief, literally-only-one-night-brief, but that was enough for us to already make plans to come back. Special shoutout to Ramon for providing us the best customer service, including helping us book another stay, fetching towels for us unprompted, and giving us recs for places to eat and visit. All we can say is that we love the Wylder!
448hermans (10/5): Just wow - This was such a lovely experience. Everyone there was very friendly. Ramone was especially helpful and friendly. I liked the fact they had free bicycles to ride around on and the view is spectacular. They also have an outdoor sauna which you can enjoy while looking out over the bay. I strongly encourage anyone who wants a relaxing weekend with plenty to do to go there. The cornhole area was very well kept and for all you duffers out there they have a little driving range to use as well as some wiffle balls to smack out to a small receptacle. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. Just go ahead and make your reservations and enjoy yourself.

Ambassador665289 (10/5): Wylder Hotel Guest Stay Review - We highly enjoyed our stayed at the Wylder Hotel! The staff in every area throughout the hotel was extremely nice and accommodating. Our room in a Queens Quarters Waterfront had an amazing view and was very clean throughout our whole stay. There is so much to do throughout the resort I will call it, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. The complimentary breakfast was a sweet treat as well! You won’t regret booking a trip here!

Only one night, my brother and I planned this as a little getaway for our mother’s birthday and we had a great time. Ramond was very helpful and upgraded our room since it is the off-season and not many other guests. This was also nice because it was very quiet and we basically had the place to ourselves. Only two small things but not a big deal at all. One was we put our name on the list to do a cold plunge and sauna in the morning and when we got there, nothing was set up. Two, we ate at the restaurant for my mother’s birthday dinner and both my mother and I ordered a salad and added a protein assuming that given that option, the salad would be enough for an entree. When it came out I was shocked at the size of it. The chicken my mom got on hers was larger than the salad itself and it was $16 for a couple of leaves, half of two beets, and 5 pistachios. In the future, I think the server should make those ordering it aware that it’s extremely tiny and not for an entree! Server was extremely nice though and we did get a free dessert for her birthday and the quality of the food was good!
108patriciaw (10/5): A Quiet March Stay - Our son will be having his wedding reception at Wylder so we went for a tasting event and stayed overnight to get the full experience. The entire staff was wonderful - friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious. Our room was quaint with a lovely sunrise view. Romon manned the front desk - he answered my many questions and was able to personally show me the amenities so I can better inform our future guest.

Robin (8/5): Loved the peace and serenity this place provided! - The staff, the food, best burger and cod dish I ever ate. Loved the Sauna and nostalgia the place brought to the stay and the fire pits at night. Bartender was great! Loved having all the games to play. Loved the bikes too. The smell of the water in the rooms was a strong sulfur smell and would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room. I loved the small town feel though and wasn’t looking for a corporate hotel experience.

In that short time we noticed the hotel room was very cute and clean and every staff member we came across was kind and courteous. Such a beautiful area with great views all around. The food was good too. I wanted to give a special shoutout to Ramon who went above and beyond to locate my daughter's most beloved stuffy! Thanks so much for your help, you saved our trip.

We loved the outdoor amenities (paddle boards, kayaks, bikes and games) but it was too cold to use them. The rooms are attractive but on the smaller side. The food service is limited at this time of year.

desktravler (8/5): Great location for Anniversary Get-Away - Lots of charm, great setting, wonderful spot for a weekend getaway. We celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed the scenery and great food at the hotel. Property consists of the "main house" and several bungalows, lovely seating areas overlooking the bay and marina. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor sections, with live music on weekends. Food was pricey, but excellent. It's a very quiet area...if you're looking for a little more action, head to St. Michaels, which is about a 20-25 minute drive. We spent one of our days with a few hours in St. Michaels for shopping/browsing and the remainder of the weekend watching the boats at the hotel's charming bayside area, along with sipping a drink and reading a good book. Comfy beds, nice sized rooms (my husband would have liked a coffee maker in the room) and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning (nice selection of breads, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh fruit, etc). We'll plan for a future visit!

Former owners had a full servce restaurant for a hot breakfast, new owners offer an extended continental breakfast and former restaurant dining room is now event space. Outdoor bar area offered a full service bar and nice selection of appetizer type foods. Rooms are small by industry standard, water pressure in shower was adequate at best. No phones in room. The $40 per night resort fee seemed extreme given the property’s offerings or lack there of.

Ramon took such good care of us; giving us great local reccs and even upgraded our room, because there was so much availability during our midweek stay. Their onsite restaurant and bar are fantastic and we absolutely loved “If two by sea”, the breakfast spot around the corner. We watched the birds and boats and water every morning and we were sad to leave. Room was nice and so was pool, but it was a little too cold to swim while we were there. We will definitely be back!

Becky (10/5): - Wylder is a pet-friendly hotel with a beautiful location on the Chesapeake Bay. The sauna and cold plunge are wonderful, so relaxing. We managed to get a day and a half in lounging on the expansive green lawn, relaxing by the fire pit before the weather changed. The salt water pool is also a gem. It was so wonderful being able to swim and soak and then not emerge reeking of chlorine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the only downside: we had a king bungalow right by the deck and a wedding party took over both the pool and the deck for an entire day. Try to book around any wedding parties if you are looking for peace and quiet. Thirty people just lounging and drinking in the shared common areas kept me up until 2 am. And they were drunk so there is no reasoning with drunk people celebrating!

The staff was so helpful, considerate, worked hard to make it all be perfect, assisted with all our requests, and made our experience outstanding. It was a beautiful water front venue with many amenities…. A pool, bikes, kayaks, several fire pits, multiple places to hangout to enjoy and relax. Maddie (9/5): Summer Camp away from the City! - We loved all the amenities the hotel offered. It felt like an actual summer camp! It was truly a paradise getaway from the city. There was so much to do and they made you feel right at home. We were able to get a room upgrade to one of the bungalow king rooms that were fantastic. The water in the room has a weird smell when running and the WIFI is not strong. Wish the bathrooms were bigger and the sink was in the bathroom not the room.

Explore41554161194 (10/5): Charming hotel close to everything in D.C - What a charming hotel. Although the room we stayed in was tiny, it was very clean and the friendliness of the staff was mighty. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and the staff were very attentive to our needs. Asia at the front desk helped us plan out an excursion around D.C (which was an awesome experience). The restaurant staff have a great sense of humor and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely stay here for our next visit!

tanyalW129JB (10/5): Wonderful mini getaway with family - We had the best family getaway at Wylder Hotel! The views of the Chesapeake Bay were gorgeous, and I loved eating crabs by the water. My son and I had a blast in the heated pool and playing lawn games. We loved playing connect four together and loved the large domino’s. So Fun! The swing was absolutely perfect too! We loved making s’mores around the firepit at night. This was our first mommy son getaway together and we will cherish all the fun memories we had here this summer!

Sergio (6/5): Great location, not very welcoming. - The location was fantastic. The restaurant and the staff in it, were great. The staff, for the most part, wasn't very welcoming or attentive to our needs. Upon arrival, we arrived late, though before 11:00 PM, the receptionist didn't even welcome us. Generally speaking, they were not rude, just not welcoming. The facilities were nice but not to the standard it claims to be, the rooms, at least our room, was clean and nice but too small.

Continental breakfast not up to the rest of the hotel's standards. We hadn't known that there weren't good beaches nearby, but that was pretty minor in the scheme of things.

It did not look like the pictures and while a lot of fresh fruit there were no breakfast meat or egg option. . I was looking forward to the bagels and salmon shown in the picture. It would not deter us from coming back at all, will just be prepared next time to have other breakfast options.

We stayed in a king bungalow, spotless clean with tons of room. Bedding is comfy and upgraded. We love the salt water pool with gorgeous views of the bay, classic beach bikes, games around the hotel and swings around the beautiful landscaping is enchanting. The onsite restaurant can’t be beat - steps away from your room. We enjoyed the evening by one of the many fire pits. Ramon S was so helpful!!! (Thankyou) I called a few times, navigating what was available and what room was best for us - he was great at making sure we had the best room. We can’t wait to go back!

I want to give special thanks to Lauren T., who went above and beyond in a way we’ll never forget. She made us feel like we truly mattered. She even gifted us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our first night as a married couple. That moment moved my wife to tears. It wasn’t just the gesture — it was how sincerely it was given. Lauren, thank you. You made us feel so welcome and celebrated. We also had a great experience with Jerrel G. and Ramon S., as well as the restaurant team. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and made our brief stay feel full of warmth and connection. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, and we left feeling completely cared for. Michelle (10/5): The Wylder Hotel is a hidden gem we intend to return to, soon! - The location cannot be beat. Off the beaten path yet still close enough the bigger towns. Gorgeous property. The sinks outside of the bathroom was a little strange, but we adapted!
KBuffi (6/5): Very average - I think this hotel is really trying to revamp their reputation and draw in more clients. It’s very cute, the people who work at the reception are lovely! Rooms have been updated. Free breakfast was decent. I stayed here with friends to celebrate a 40th birthday. It was decent and we made the most of it but frankly would not recommend and will not be back. We had a terrible experience at the restaurant, Ticklers. I think they need to work on the guest relations. We had a friend lock herself out of her room around midnight and the reception room was locked and no one answered the phone. She ended up staying in a friends room, thank God we had other rooms booked or she would’ve been sleeping in the car! At breakfast the next morning we still had not heard back from the hotel regarding the lock out. Very average experience.

Peter (8/5): - We stayed one night, not taking full advantage of Wylder: it's more than a hotel (yet maybe less than a resort: you would be happy not venturing off the property for a day, but you might not camp out there without other activities in mind). Upon arrival, there was still time for us to take out two kayaks and play some cornhole; we ate at the excellent crab shack on site and enjoyed smores at one of the firepits that night. We thought the continental breakfast was above average. The entire space and layout is beautiful. Had we stayed longer, we would have taken a bicycle ride, enjoyed the pool, and had a sauna. Our room was fine, the bathroom had a toilet and a tub with a showerhead (but no bath spigot, so not really set up for a soak) -- the sink was in the room proper. The light switches were oddly placed. And we would have liked to have rinsed off sand at a shower or footbath by the shore. This is a bit nitpicky: the point is that Wylder has many great features but is missing some of the conveniences and little touches that would make things "seamless."

dcphotognewbie (4/5): Had high hopes for this place - We chose this hotel to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary and were hopeful for a memorable experience, but it was a major disappointment. While the location is picturesque and the staff at check-in and Tickler’s restaurant were friendly, almost everything else fell short. Our “suite” was a joke. When my husband booked, he was told it was a suite but wasn’t informed that the room contained just a full bed and a twin. Completely unacceptable for two adults and a large dog. The beds were uncomfortable, and the room felt cramped and poorly maintained. The bathroom hadn’t been properly cleaned—there were hairs on the towels, and the overall upkeep was subpar. The AC was loud and disruptive, though at least it cooled the room. The worst part? The bugs. When we turned on the lights at night, the walls and ceiling were covered. It felt like we were staying in a rundown cabin, not a hotel claiming to offer a luxury experience. I didn't expect to wake up with bug bites on my body. The included breakfast sounded nice in theory, but the execution was appalling. The fruit was barely edible, soggy, wilted raspberries that looked like they had been sitting in the sun for days. The rest of the spread wasn’t much better. The room had zero basic amenities...no coffee maker, no fridge, one towel rack, and no place to put your luggage. To make matters worse, the main restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, something we weren’t informed about in advance, which made it nearly impossible to find lunch on the island. We ended up cutting our trip short and left a day early. The front desk didn’t seem surprised, which now makes sense after reading similar reviews. This place is all style over substance, heavily marketed on social media, but the experience doesn’t live up to the hype. Save yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere.
Scott (8/5): Quick Romantic Getaway - My wife and I had a wonderful 2 days away for my birthday. Highlights were the food at Crabbies (best crab cakes I've ever tasted), morning coffee on the pier, the salt water pool and the sunset cruise. The only downside was that there were a ton of kids there. We have 3 kids of our own and were hoping for a more adult atmosphere, but what are you going to do? Oh yeah, my favorite thing of all was taking the complimentary beach cruises to the sputh point of the island. It was a great 6 mile bike ride. The wifi and tv had poor connections, but I embraced being off the grid for a weekend. Place would be perfect if it was adults only.
Whitney (6/5): - Beautiful location on the water and room decor. However, mixed up rooms and didn't provide the room that was requested. Also the service at the ticklers crab shack was not very accommodating or friendly. They charge $3 slice for cutting birthday cake which we were willing to pay for but didn't end up on our check so we had to step off property to enjoy a birthday cake which is a ridic policy - add more desserts to the menu and won't need to bring a cake from an outside vendor. Also, was rude when asking for silverware to use for the birthday cake.
D3928JDdominiqueg (10/5): Hidden gem on the Eastern shore - This spot holds a special place in our hearts! I stumbled across this hidden gem last year and we were lucky enough to return this summer. Wylder is located on the Eastern shore, around 15 minutes from St Michael’s. The location is quiet, bay-front, and lovely. It’s a perfect getaway for families with kids, dogs, and couples. There are paddle boards, kayaks, bikes, sauna, cold plunge, and a saltwater pool all included in your stay. Once the sun goes down, there’s fire pits for s’mores. We’ve come with our pup both times and he absolutely loves the place. The restaurant, Tickler’s Crab Shack, has a little dog menu and the best crab dip + fish tacos I’ve ever had. We’re so glad to have found a spot that’s dog-friendly as we hate leaving our furry friend behind. There’s tons of room for dogs to roam around and we brought him on the paddle board with us as well. Thank you to all the staff and general manager, Kristin, who made our stay so special! We’ll be back next year.

I was in the area for work so the hotel was easily accessible to every event/activity that I needed to attend. I had a lot of interaction with KD in Sales and Lauren at Guest Services. They made every step of the way very smooth. My room was spacious, yet cozy. Overall, I highly recommend Wylder Hotel!
lindabS1391JQ (10/5): Great relaxing trip with family. - I stayed here with two of my daughters and my granddaughter for a quick get away. We really enjoyed it. The property is older but very well kept up. One of the things I liked most about it was the huge front porch on the building where our room was (one of the bungalows). So nice to have a comfortable place to sit outside but under cover and out of the weather with a view of the bay. There were lots of outside spaces that were open to everyone but that were furnished and positioned such that it was easy to use with our small family group and it felt really nice. Having the kayaks on a rack with lifejackets at the ready made it so we could decide at 5:30 am to go for a sunrise kayak ride that was great. The pool area is nice and the sauna with bay views was really appreciated too.

But I got no sleep as the AC unit cut on and off all night, despite us playing with the buttons several times. It was like sleeping with a newborn! When I told reception about it upon checkout, he just said there's a button for that. Also, we could hear every footstep upstairs and a dog barking in another room. Our room was in the main house, so maybe other rooms were more sound resilient. Otherwise, the property is very nice.

sidneym724 (2/5): Buyer Beware - The marketing team for this hotel deserves a raise for how well they catfish people. I booked a two night stay for my partner and I to celebrate our anniversary after seeing the website and social media posts thinking this would be a cute and relaxing getaway. The most relaxing part was checking out early and driving home. The rooms: I paid over $600 for a queen bed with partial water view. The room was tiny and I am still convinced the bed was a full (we sleep on a queen every night and this was noticeably smaller). The rooms also did not feature a luggage rack, mini fridge, or coffee maker, standard for most hotel rooms. As soon as we walked in, we had to kill two mosquitos and a moth. The bathrooms were visibly dated and the shower was practically a shoebox. I am 5’6 and not a big person and I couldn’t move around in it. The shampoo and body wash were very obviously watered down to try to extend their lives. The shower curtain was stained with mildew, and this was the biggest shock of all—there were NO towel hooks in the entire space. Besides one bar for drying one towel, there were literally no other hooks to hang towels/swim suits/anything on. A mystery to me as the hotel is on the water and has a pool? The room was also located next to the stairs/door which very loudly closed every time someone opened it. The pool: From the pictures, the saltwater pool looks large and accommodating. It is not. Not to mention, there is a big shortage of chairs despite the fact that there is plenty space for the hotel to provide additional chairs/seating/umbrellas. When we got to the pool, there were no seats available—parties and families were having to sit multiple people to one chair and my partner and I literally laid our towels on the grass so we could go for a swim. Yes, this is a waterfront property, but you really can’t swim in the bay off the property—only kayak or paddleboard. So, if you want to cool off from the heat, the only option is the pool which was way too small to accommodate the amount of people staying at the hotel. Not to mention some guests were there playing music loudly and disturbing other guests. Ticklers: We went to dinner at the restaurant on site. We had a reservation and were sat in a timely manner and greeted by a server who took drink orders and then we literally didn’t see her again for at least 25 minutes. We ordered a draft beer and a lemonade—not any fancy cocktails or blended drinks that take long to make. The food was great, but again took forever to arrive—a server even came over to apologize that it would be longer because they dropped the steak that we ordered and hade to remake it. The final straw was really when we ordered a slice of cake to go so we could eat it back in our room as we were getting eaten alive by mosquitos and we were completely forgotten about—we waited for another 30 minutes before someone finally brought it out to us after asking to check on it with multiple servers. There was no offer to comp the cake or anything for that matter and to really seal the deal, when we got back to the room to enjoy the cake, they didn’t even provide utensils or a napkin, so we had to eat it with our hands. We slept there that night and as soon as we woke up, checked out a day early. It wasn’t even worth the $300/ night to stay there another night. Avoid like the plague. Bad rooms, terrible service, the only redeeming quality was the water view but not even that was worth $600. I’ve stayed in motels that are nicer. Beyond disappointed.

Would not stay there again.
