Guest Reviews

- lisa (5/5): Even though the pool looked attractive the overall location and atmosphere was not great - The room was clean and we had a small apartment The balcony was cramped i would have preferred a downstairs room that led out to the pool. The breakfast was over priced in dollars and the location was not great.
- Natalie (9/5): - Great location. Very quiet at night. Lovely breakfast with great coffee. Super friendly staff. Not really. No restaurant, but several options at walking distance. So no issue as I was aware of this.

- Jennifer (10/5): Lovely place, tucked in the hills but near everything. A great place to peacefully unwind after a long day of meetings. - The location was wonderful, very close to downtown but so quiet! A little oasis. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well. Will return!
- Janice (10/5): -
- Gabriella (8/5): -
- Frances (8/5): -
- ANNIE (9/5): - Rustig gelegen met prachtige tuin met zwembad. Heerlijk ontbijt, vriendelijk personeel. Parking voor de deur.
- Arnau (9/5): -
- Mathieu (8/5): -
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Seifert (6/5): Pleasant - Peaceful beautiful garden, clean and well maintained. We stayed for two nights and didn't see a single other guest, it was weirdly empty for a central location. Breakfast was grossly overpriced and very basic, nothing cooked..Basically cold cuts, fruit and bread. They didn't seem to have any information about where to eat in the area and no restaurant on site. Their rates are over priced.
- Trevor (9/5): Just what we needed. - The hotel is simple, comfortable and functional, just what we needed. It is a ten minute walk from the centre of town and is located off a leafy avenue. When we tried to depart on our trip we found all the major roads closed for an event and had no idea where to go. We returned to the hotel to ask directions. This proved to be very complicated so the owner interupted her breakfast and drove ahead of us through a number of back roads to the outskirts of town. This was invaluable as we had a time limit to get to our destination. Great service.
- Eleanor (10/5): A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Kigali - Fantastic hotel. Probably the best in Kigali. The hotel is an oasis of calm in the middle of the city. We were in Kigali for a conference and we looked forward to returning to the hotel every day to relax in the beautiful garden by the pool. All the rooms have a balcony overlooking the gardens. It's worth paying a small amount extra for the superior rooms which are really very nice. Breakfast is expensive for Kigali but the chef will make you your preferred style of eggs.
One thing we particularly appreciated was the excellent communication before our arrival. As a large group, we had multiple changes in the number of rooms and set-ups required, but the manager and staff were very accommodating. The location is also great - in the centre of town and opposite the Hotel Les Milles Collines. We liked the hotel so much, we booked it again when we came back through Kigali. Nothing
- Caroline&aaron (10/5): Lovely facilities, central location, safe and secure and overall a great place to stay. - Location is central, but still quiet and peaceful. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean. Safe and secure. Breakfast is exactly what I need/want, others may consider basic, but for me was perfect.
- Ravs (10/5): Exceptional - great hotel and lovely staff
- Iskander (8/5): Family house - It’s cozy calm place
- Jacqueline (9/5): Lovely friendly place to stay in Kigali - Beautiful gardens, lovely space to have breakfast, and sit during the day. Room was large, and had everything I needed. Really friendly staff. Although there are restaurants nearby, there is no restaurant in the hotel for an evening meal. The pool is pretty small.
- Bryce (8/5): Very good -
- Olga (8/5): An oasis of tranquility in the heart of Kigali. -
- Simon (8/5): Quiet central location - Very central location, 5 minite walk to Central area. Our 2 kids enjoyed the pool and resident parrots. Breakfast was good. Clean and very quiet location, staff super helpful. Breakfast not included but they accommodated our family well. Double bed nets didn't quite fit and single nets possibly needed cleaning. No view from our room or AC but didn't need it. TV only had one channel available.
- Shauna (8/5): Centrally located and very helpful and friendly staff. - Centrally located, very friendly and helpful staff, lovely garden. Very accommodating with a late checkout. Interior is a bit dated but well maintained.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Superb -
- P (8/5): Very good - This is a great place, ran by very friendly and helpful staff. Great location too. The rooms are huge, and include a large living room and a large room, plus a terrace with view to the swimming pool. The price is reasonable, for this type of facilities, although is more expensive than the the average hotel in Rwanda (which does not have facilities as good as this one, so the price is fair). The breakfast is grossly overpriced ($15). It's not worth that money at all. Do not fall for this trap. Walk down to the centre, it's just 10 minutes walking, there are plenty of eating places there and you can eat more and better than this hotel, paying $5 or less.
- Margaret (8/5): Clean and lovely calm spot, the staff were wonderful and kind. - Clean and simple and quite Not enough plugs in the room and would have liked a fan
- Csorgo (10/5): Perfect place in Kigali - I like everything. Quiet, clean, beautiful garden just like on the photos.
- Benjamin (8/5): - I really love the way i was received as a new guest.
- Cesar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Volker (4/5): Quite overpriced for the service provided - The pool was the reason why I chose that hotel and I was allowed to jump in even late night after my arrival. This was the best thing for the price I paid. There were some English communcation deficiences of staff at the reception. I remember there were also some problems when I left regarding ordering a car (something like the hotel did not see this as their task or so).
- Laura (7/5): Good - Cosy, small hotel with a nice garden. Taxis are always around, at the hotel across the street (Des Mille Collines), which also has an ATM, which is very convenient.
- Marise (8/5): Very good - Great spacious room (no.14) with its own little terrace. Nice view on the garden, so a nice quiet place in the city. Close by a supermarket. There is no restaurant. If you have time to dine out, this is not an issue. The local app to order food in, is not available for non-African mobile phone numbers.
The bed was hard, like in many African hotels.
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Mirjam (8/5): Very good - The efficient, flexible and attentive management, kind staff, the well-kept property with attention to detail, the pool, and the beautiful location all make this place exceptional. Some noisy guests in the garden late at night.
- Walter (10/5): Exceptional - An island in a bustling city. NA
- Jessica (9/5): Perfect stay in a botique hotel - Such a beautiful hotel, with lovely staff and a nice garden setting. The room was really large and comfortable, with everything you need! Thank you for a wonderful stay Only downside was the lack of food available (apart from breakfast) - but some options close by !
- Sue (9/5): Superb -
- Patrick (9/5): Excellent stay - The staff was extremely nice and always helpful! The room was big and clean. The garden is beautiful and the breakfast room is quite cosy. Furthermore, the hotel is located very close to the centre and there are plenty of good restaurants around. I found the breakfast a little pricy.
- Oihane (8/5): It’s worth staying at the Le Garni Hotel. - We liked
+ the central location of the hotel
+ the pool and the small garden around it
+ the room was spacious
+ there was a fridge in the room
+ it was quiet - the breakfast was too expensive for its value (15USD p.Person/Day)
- except for the well stocked fridge in the room with drinks there was no other way to purchase drinks on the premise.
- Anke (8/5): Beautiful small hotel with very friendly staff - Very cosy boutique hotel with birds , plants and a pool. Spacious rooms excellent breakfast ! All good it would be maybe an option to have ventilators in the rooms
- Sophie (8/5): Very good -
- Wiebke (10/5): Exceptional - Central and quiet location
Very friendly staff
- Gatzke (10/5): - Ruhige Lage, kleines Hotel, freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal
- Fathei (10/5): Kigali visit - The staff are very welcoming and the location is perfect. Non
- Anoop (7/5): Good -
- Meltzer (9/5): Superb -
- Meltzer (9/5): Superb -
- Ramon (8/5): - Insgesamt gut.
- Jean-paul (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eulalee (6/5): Pleasant - Studio was big and comfortable Breakfast should be included. Doesn't worth $15.00.
- Telice (7/5): It's a wonderful place in a great location, with a lush, beautiful garden and pool. - I felt very safe, being a woman traveling alone. The fresh espresso was excellent. The pool and garden area are spectacularly beautiful. I loved having a balcony overlooking the garden/pool. I greatly appreciated the airport shuttle service; the shuttle driver was really kind and was even willing to drive me around the city. The location is great; having a mall with a grocery store and cafes within walking distance was awesome. The gentleman at the lobby desk on the night shift was also genuinely friendly and helpful. One of the parrots said hello to me, which was a nice laugh. The breakfast selection did not seem worth the cost, and not having coffee available all day was a bummer. The bottled drinks in my mini fridge had mold on the labels, like they'd either been in there a long time and/or they had been in the fridge when it was turned off and condensation caused the labels to mold. I also noticed something weird growing on the inside of the bottle of red wine I had, but because the bottle and the wine were both dark, I only saw it after I had already drank it.
- Anna (10/5): Nice stay at Le Garni - I had a good week at the Le Garni hotel. Absolutely the best service I have had in a long time and at the time it was quiet and peaceful. All the staff were really friendly and professional. The garden and swimming pool were beautiful. Good location! Easy to walk to some restaurants and a food store, and easy to take a moto taxi just from the street. Really safe area.
- Elena (8/5): Very good -
- Douglas (9/5): Super hotel in central location \ great service - Lovely boutique hotel set in beautiful garden in central kigali. Great service
- Wamachi (8/5): Very good - quiet and lovely in such a good neighborhood
- Jephinias (1/5): Very pathetic, I had to move out after one night and they refused to give me a refun - Their interpretation of breakfast is different from norm Nothing besides the good receptionist
- Balazs (9/5): Superb -
- Nadja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christian (9/5): Superb - Very cozy and quiet location in downtown.
- Choedon (9/5): Very cute place - It’s a very quiet and nice place. It is very close to the centre. There is a mall at about 5 min distance walk. Right inside the mall, you can pretty much find anything. Restaurants and cafe are inside and beside the mall too. You can also find ATM in the mall. if you want postal service it is on the opposite side of the street. Pretty much everything is pass by. The staffs are really nice.
- Sussex (8/5): Good rooms, pity about the overpriced breakfast - Our twin room was spacious and had a nice balcony leading onto the pretty garden and poolside. Good shower, wifi. Staff were helpful and courteous. From here you can easily walk to shops, the big hotels, cafes etc. Contrary to the information on booking.com there was no kettle in the room and reception said they do not provide this. The breakfast is charged at a flat rate of $12 per person (not a range, as it says on the site and I'd been told by the property itself) which is very expensive for what was offered. I don't understand why breakfast is not included in the room rate. We went up the road and had a much better full breakfast for half the cost.
- Hazel (7/5): Good -
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Fikir (8/5): Very good -
- Alexander (8/5): Comfortable familial hotel - Very nice homely hotel in the middle of Kigali. The owner was very kind and greeted us each morning. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful, and the balcony provided much relaxation after a day out. The pool was very refreshing and the garden well-maintained! The bed cover was tucked in quite tightly and it was difficult to air the room without being cold in the morning. There was also a slight mistake in the number of nights we were billed for on late check-in at 10pm, that was quickly rectified when we pointed it out. Always good to double-check.
- Hans (9/5): Great, central location. A limited number of rooms gives the hotel a warm and family-friendly feel. - Very central but quiet location. Comfort (bed, shower) was up to (European) standards. Good breakfast with friendly staff. Nice (small) swimming pool and lovely garden. Relaxed atmosphere and safe environment.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A good basic hotel option in central Kigali. Clean and well located with friendly staff and unexpected grey parrots.
- Christopher (8/5): Great place.Confirm your reservation twice. - Everything was great at the hotel itself. The staff were attentive and efficient. The breakfast was great. The only problem was a discrepancy in the bill. I had emailed the hotel directly after my Hotels.com booking to be certain that all was fine with the reservation. They replied that all was fine. Only when I arrived was I told to pay extra for my 10 year old son even after I had indicated he was to be with us in the original reservation. The manager claimed that I had only booked for two adults without a child. This was false. After a lot of frustration and ugly words this extra payment was not demanded. Again, the staff were wonderful. It was only the management itself that was difficult.
If not for this I would not hesitate to give five stars. But to wait until the customer arrives to inform them of an extra charge - especially when there had been direct email contact and the cause of the charge was indicated clearly in the first reservation - was very upsetting.
The location is also excellent being a five minute walk form the center and across the street from Hotel Des Milles Collines.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel was absolutely perfect - amazing value for your money. It’s located steps from the famous Mille Collines. It does not have a restaurant but there are many options close by. The breakfast is absolutely delicious, complete with warm fresh croissants! It was quiet and we had the pool all to ourselves. Rooms are fairly basic but well equipped. It seemed like each room has a balcony overlooking the pool. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here - excellent value!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming B&B with a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant and the garden amazing, with so many different blooming flowers m!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location
Friendly staff going over and beyond to help
The hotel was clean and very quiet and breakfast menu excellent!
We were booked for 2 nights and stayed an extra night as we really enjoyed the place and already booked for when we’re back in Kigali in a week.
An oasis in the city!
- Paula (10/5): - Beautiful garden, friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would highly reccommend.
