Guest Reviews
- Abby (5/5): Would not recommend - The property is near the main strip in San Marcos The ‘cueva room’ is as described - dark and dingy. The bathroom smelled of smoke and there was a dead spider on the bathroom ledge on arrival. The main benefits of this property appear to come with balcony rooms and I would not recommend staying here without one as there are not many break out areas or places to enjoy outdoor space in the sun. It is a quiet hotel and there was no bar to enjoy on our stay, though there was an area which looked like it could have been a bar. We only managed to stay one night out of the planned two.

- Mary (10/5): -
- Chandra (10/5): Absolutely loved it! - The gardens of the grounds were absolutely stunning! The food in the restaurant was amazing! The whole place was like a work of art!! The windows did not have glass just screens and shutters so there was some noise issues.
- Natalie (5/5): it was perfect until - so i really wish i could love it fully because the first few days were great! the property is really beautiful. like the details in everything and all the plants i love being surrounded by all the trees and the flowers and you hear birds chirping and it’s just so beautiful. they also have a garden where i would just sit and chill. lovely. i did see a sauna but it was not used at all. don’t think it was avail. the two rooms i stayed in were nice. interior design 10/10. the details the vintage furniture. so gorgeously designed.
the location was also amazing. so close to the town center and also near this lovely yoga studio and literally right by the reserve and the public part of the lake and the public dock.
the food was also great at the restaurant. i love the ceviche nikkei like i wish i could make that sauce at home. ok now what even the pros can’t outshine is on my third to last day - and i also want to be fair i’ve had shrimp here before so i was like oh it’s been fine - i had the shrimp tacos and woke up with mild food poisoning. had to take a day to recover. i did tell staff i had the shrimp tacos at their restaurant that made me very ill but it was just like oh im sorry. which i guess? and i reviewed within a day but on the morning of my flight i wake up im packing and i see a bug where i was sleeping and im like is it a bed bug? it really looks like one but then i tell staff and they said they’ve never seen it before and its not a bed bug… idk i am so nervous it is so i treated it as one but neither thing which i feel are pretty important were treated w urgency.
- Valentin (9/5): - Beautiful garden, comfortable room, good restaurant
- Aileen (9/5): A lovely quiet place tucked away. Really lovely staff and great bedrooms. - The rooms were so unique and so comfortable. I had the best sleep.
- SARAH (10/5): Absolutely breathtaking. - The staff was amazing. I was stuck in a remote location after my hike and the hotel coordinated a pick up for me. They went above and beyond. The beds could have been comfier.

- Erika (9/5): Overall our time there was wonderful, the food and drinks were excellent - The room and the staff were absolutely amazing The toilet wasn’t flushing, that was very uncomfortable because it was during the night and also there was a big spider who scared me to death and that also happened very late at night. The bathroom is outdoor I guess that why it was there
- Jan (9/5): -
- Erika (7/5): For one night stay I have to say we had an amazing time, the view was breathtaking, the food was fresh and delicious as - The view was the most spectacular of the staying. We were in the Mirador. The food was just as good as the view. The ladies in reception were very polite and the people who help you with bags. Didn’t know that it has so many steps to go to the room, it was very hard to do it all the time we needed to go to the room. There were ants and spiders in the bathroom even though is understandable because it’s outdoor and the mountain is part of it. At the restaurant that evening the waitress was a little rude when my nice what we to know about this particular drink or if there was this particular drink, she told her to see the menu in goggle.
Niks
- Samantha (9/5): - Staff were super responsive to questions and feedback. The restaurant had high quality food. Loved our balcony overlooking a courtyard as well as how open and bright our room was. There was some construction going on around the hotel, but this isn't their fault, it just made for a less than scenic walk to get anywhere else. Restaurant did get busy and was understaffed so drinks and food took a little longer, but we weren't in any rush.
- Giovana (8/5): - Lovely gardens and balcony of that room to relax. Room felt like a treehouse Not value for money- you expect more given how expensive it is. The food at the restaurant is okay not mind blowing for the price.
- Diego (10/5): Increíble! - Está HERMOSO! El paisajismo está de otro mundo!
Súper atentos y amables
Ubicación privilegiada
10/10
- Giovana (7/5): - Lovely gardens and surrounding. Good location in San Marcos We stayed in two different rooms- the triple room was definitely not as nice as our first room. There was a cave in the bathroom which in theory sounds cool but in practice very impractical- the ceiling was very short and the toilet was literally in the shower. It feels like the hotel is built for aesthetic rather than comfort or practicality.
- Jordy (10/5): - Best location in San Marcos. If you have a bit more budget to spare this is the place to be. Next to the national park where you can swim and relax. Also super easy to go to the other towns. So if you are a backpacker and want some luxury for a few days go with lush
- Becker (7/5): Definitely an instagramable place - Nice views in the jungle, vulcano and lakes. The cost-value didn’t match. Paid 200$ for a night in two-story apartment “Cascade” as a solo traveller (I thought it was on one level, was not visible on the booking pictures). Firstly the safe was not available (guest before took the key); in the shower was left over trash from the guests before.
Lastly I got told (when I had to hike down to the reception again) and asked for a bottle opener to order wine at the bar. After I explained the receptionst that “Cascade” has a kitchenette, I thankfully got one.
Also accidentally ran into the hotel owner/manager who told me I should have come down and complain immediately on the dirty shower. Well - guess what, I didn’t pay 200$ / night to explain the managers whats wrong in their premises. I highly recommend them to use AI and make a plan on how to improve customer satisfaction in hospitality. At least the manager sent me home with an understanding nod.
- Charlie (9/5): Romantic getaway for a weekend. Must stay! - The hotel is beautiful and quiet. You feel like you’re in the jungle in a secluded area all to yourself. Our room had a beautiful bathroom with exposed rock and brick, and we also had a private terrace with a couch, stand up table and cooking appliances. The view to the volcano across the lake was gorgeous and we were within 5-10 minute walk away from delicious restaurants, the natural reserve and the ferry dock. The staff was very helpful and kind. They were fluent in English as well. I can’t wait to stay here again.
- Laura (10/5): Tres bien!
- Eronida (10/5): It was great and very comfortable. - Great location. Brand new facility, the rooms were spacious amd very modern.
The restaurant had great food/drinks. Not a lot of storage/clothing racks
- Brandy (10/5): - Amazing place to stay, attention to all the little details!
- Mary (9/5): You won't regret staying here. - The creative building. The food was gorgeous. Completely gorgeous. Beautiful furntiure and space. Our server Julie was so attentive and sweet. My shower was cold. No music in restaurant and other guests were playing music from their phone which was annoying. I would have preferred to listen to the natural sounds of wildlife at night
- Jose (10/5): A delightful surprise. It was a haven . - Incredible suite! The art, gardens, property, and food was outstanding. The art and creativity in the building was very special, particularly the mosaics.
- Hannah (7/5): - Incredibly beautiful property overlooking the jungle and the lake. Very picturesque. Lovely balcony, but didn’t really extend living space as it was outside and a separate level. Room was very small, we were unable to keep both our suitcases open at the same time.
- Kendra (10/5): Romantic, relaxing and beautiful - Gorgeous gardens, view of the lake and phenomenal food and ambience.
- Elleni (10/5): -
- Camille (10/5): Best bedroom ever - Waoh, it’s an incredible place. Lovely rooms, spaces, everything’s pretty and confortable. Great location as well. I recommend this place
- Nina (8/5): - beautiful location, close to everything and the lake. the restaurant was phenomenal and the staff were exquisite. our bed was huge and comfortable and our room was very nice.
- Luisa Fernanda (10/5): -
- Joanne (6/5): Nice but noisy - The staff were great. Especially the receptionists and ladies running the restaurant - which was probably the best and most authentic in san marcos. The natural look of the hotel was lovely Despite how it seems, this is not peaceful place and I found it very loud. It may have been because my room was next to the garden, reception and restaurant but it was quite an uncomfortable stay. If all guests had respected sound levels it might have been ok, but because of the nature of the hotel, it’s very open to the elements and noise. Very overpriced for my experience. But I did appreciate the amazing restaurant and staff
- Debbie (10/5): -
- Emily (8/5): -
- Maria (10/5): - The location is very convenient, close to the main area but you don't hear so much noise. It is also a close distance to Reserva Natural Cerro Tzankujil where you can swim or watch the sunrise. The entire place is very relaxing, and the staff were amazing! Shout out to Janet, Francisco and the lady at the front desk. Truly helpful and genuine people we won't forget :) the room doesn't have any AC but it was cool at night. You hear the birds/animal sounds in the morning and night 🌙 wonderful!
- Hansson Mucchiano (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): -
- kristin (10/5): Lovely property, close to main shopping - Beautiful gardens, lovely property near the water Dogs barked at night next door but it maybe temporarily due to the construction there
- Timothy (3/5): Brief - and unsatisfying, - For the price, this hotel was disappointing. The room was dirty, moldy, and uncomfortable. The property itself felt neglected, and I didn’t feel safe walking to and from my room over the wet, uneven stones. Given that the cost of one night could cover a month’s wages for a local laborer, the place should have been maintained to a much higher standard. The breakfast was also overpriced and underwhelming. On the positive side, the staff did hold my bags for a few hours without issue, but overall the experience did not meet expectations.
- Martina (10/5): Paradise built into the cliff - Everything about Lush is absolutely stunning, the place is built into the cliffside - and the restaurant on the property has really really good food! There were no bug nets over the beds or in the window , which made it hard to air out the room and keep it from feeling too hot and damp (I booked a lower Price room)
- Katie (10/5): -
- Marie-Laure (3/5): Shantytown experience with no view! - Green scenery. Close to natural park I never give bad reviews but this hotel was “a joke”. Not a good value nor experience. Very cold staff who didn’t make us fell welcome. The so-called eco-chic hotel is very eco in service and chic in its prices. While beautiful in itself, the room was unpractical with no hangers and nowhere to put our suitcases, none lights to read in bed, etc. None of the windows were jointing, with 1 cm crack all around, allowing mosquitoes to enter, as well as allowing us to enjoy dogs barking all night long, joined by roosters in the morning. The “view” looked like a shantytown in construction (see photos). We’re glad we only stayed one night.
- Vanessa (10/5): -
- Withaar (6/5): Gorgeous property, perfect location, but ask about construction before booking - Absolutely stunning, it’s like you’re living in a private botanic garden. It’s literally a 30 second walk from the beach / national park. There was construction happening right above our room and we weren’t informed about it or given a discount.

- Guillermo (9/5): Will not forget this amazing stay - Beautiful, unique and memorable stay. So many details, so much nature and the room was so uniquely designed you can tell a lot of thought was put into it.
The food was pretty good. I did see a medium sized spider next to our bed. I had read about seeing insects in this place but honestly I decided to not take this into the review. It's part of the things of being with nature. I liked that the bed came with an mosquito net which is what made me feel safe and slept without paying the spider any mind
- Kelsey (10/5): Magical jungle with incredible staff and amazing views! - The staff. The bed. The bathroom. The room service. The amazing plants and flowers. Felt like you were deep in a jungle. The restaurant! We loved it all

- Bianchi Milella (8/5): - Amazing Place, close to the reserve and the lake side Ongoing renovations in the hotel: the first night security left a light (powerful) turned on which was entering the room (since the door was actually a shaded glass) and which was pointing directly the bed. Also, at 8am there were strong noises from workers starting to build (either in the hotel or on a nearby property)
Staff asked and told them that as a result the night was really uncomfortable, but didn't offer any compensation.
The second night security was advised to turn off the light and I could finally sleep

- Krystle (10/5): The perfect place to stay in lake atilan. - So beautiful. Very " lush" landscape/ property. Beautiful design room with rustic stone and outdoor elements yet modern comfy bed and amenities. The food at the restaurant is amazing. Every single thing I tried was 10/10. They even deliver to your room no extra charge. Beautiful view. Friendly helpful staff. The alley way to get there is a tad sketch and dirty but that's the whole town really.
- MARK (9/5): Beautiful grounds in a good location - Breakfast was not included in the rate Noise started early from the ongoing construction work on the property right beside my room.

- Lauren (7/5): - Very clean, stunning setting. Friendly staff. Very comfortable bed. Noisy dogs and chickens in the late night and early morning
- Folashade (1/5): HORRIBLE - not as advertised. - good location but everything else was horrible. not as advertised. We saw 8+ huge spiders in our room. Bathroom was outside - not advertised. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but after not being able to sleep because of all of the spiders, we left after one night. NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL!
- Cris (8/5): Lush (true to its name) space in great location - Beautiful location and space. Room was very spacious. Staff was extremely nice and kind. Not an issue for me but looks like there is some remodeling taking place in the common areas.

- Sandra Isabel (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and attentive, since we arrived until we left, all the staff were very warm and ready to help you. We also enjoyed the restaurant as the food was amazing No comments
- Harriet (10/5): Would definitely recommend! Worth the money - Lovely setting and rooms. Love the design and feel. Staff super friendly and helpful. Great location right by the pier. Comfortable bed Our stay was really good. Fav place on the lake.

- Georgina (9/5): - Amazing location, beautiful room and lovely helpful staff Nil
- Martha (10/5): Great location. I would recommend. - Beautiful setting and great and healthy food at the restaurant.
- Andrew (9/5): Comfortable and good value for money - This was the second room we stayed in at the property and felt it was much better value for money than the more expensive room. The beds were comfortable and the room felt very private.
- Andrew (7/5): Beautiful grounds - The property has beautiful grounds with amazing garden. Really good location for the nature reserve and accessing the lake. The room was somewhat impractical. There was no way to make the room dark-there were lots of windows but only a couple had curtains. There was also nowhere to sit comfortably which feels like something you expect from a more expensive room.
- JandA (10/5): Breathtaking, unique, and the friendliest/kind/most welcoming staff! - We loved so many things about this property! First and foremost it is the staff. Our communication began before we arrived as they helped us with our transport - they were friendly, responsive, and so informative! If I had any questions or needed recommendations, they were quick to offer guidance. Then, the physical property itself is breathtaking. The property lives up to its name starting with the entrance - it is truly "lush". The greenery and variety of plants is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in the Mirador and our friends stayed in the Sirena. Both rooms were a walk up steps (keep that in mind) but were wonderfully comfortable! The views from Mirador are just like the photos and breathtaking. Also, the breakfast - highly recommend the chia pancakes - delicious!! All in all, a wonderful stay and great staff- thank you! The Mirador suite's bathroom is outdoor so that felt a bit uncomfortable for us especially since we are both not the fondest of critters. The mosquito net was very appreciated and we did not experience any mosquito attacks!
