Guest Reviews
- veronica (10/5): Casa bella, comoda e spaziosa. Nulla
- Katarzyna (10/5): -
- Iztok (10/5): Peaceful countryside - Peaceful countryside, nice garden, big apartment, perfect location to start cycling tour or trail running, or just a sit down with the book in the garden. Good wine. To buy some things or food you need a car.
- Lutz (10/5): - it was great, very beautiful garden, house and apartment. idyllic.
very kind landlord, caring about their guest. nothing
- Christian (10/5): - sehr idyllische Umgebung. Sehr liebevoll eingerichtete Wohnung.
- Tamara (10/5): Excellent - I highly recommend this house. The hosts are very kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything you need. The house itself is beautiful, well-maintained, very comfortable, and clean. The surrounding nature is absolutely stunning—peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a quiet getaway.
- Donna (10/5): - Agriturismo Poggio is what you dream about when you travel to Italy. The pastoral setting and rustic elegance is difficult to describe. The apartment had everything we needed. The available wine from the wall was charming. We had a car and were able to visit many Tuscan towns. Massimo was a wonderful host. I hope we will be able to return someday. It
Heel mooi.
Niks.
- Andy VRG (10/5): Fantastische ervaring voor ons gezin. - Alles was fantastisch. De locatie, de uitbaters en de omgeving. Beetje verouderd maar dat stoorde niet.
- Catelijne (8/5): -
Cudowne miejsce i wspaniali właściciele. Apartament ukryty wśród wspaniałych toskańskich krajobrazów, do którego planuje się wrócić. Serdecznie polecam.

- Magdalena (10/5): Ciche, spokojne i autentyczne miejsce. - Świetne miejsce, autentyczne, ciche, spokojne, pomocny gospodarz.
- Carolina (10/5): Overall amazing stay! - We had an exceptionally great stay. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. Nice apartment size and the little kitchen was more than sufficient for a family. The outdoors and the pool area were kept amazingly neat. Everything was up to a high standard. Massimo is a great host who provided us with recommendations for restaurants and different events in the surrounding area. He contacted us beforehand to make sure when we would be arriving to welcome us and we were also able to get a later check out. We would definitely love to come back.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Etan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greene (9/5): Superb - Very nice apartment with kitchen. Beautiful property and central location near Siena. Large bedroom, comfortable bed and very quiet.
- Cimpean (10/5): Beautiful property and excellent host. - Very good location. Ten minutes from Siena. Everything was excellent.
- Martina (10/5): Exceptional - Kind host, very nice and well equipped apartment. Its a feeling that you came to te other era. We stayed there only one night, but is also very good for long stay. There is a lot of surrounding ind also pull and hot tub.
- rlta999 (10/5): Excellent Tuscan wine - Turned up and had a delightful wine tasting experience
Interesting engaging host.
Dessert wine particularly delicious
Easy to find family run business with a fascinating history. They export all over the world so you may have experienced their wines already
- Julius (10/5): Magical stay in Tuscany - Magical place with beautiful surrounding and everything that we were looking for as a couple. It really blew us away.
- Christopher (10/5): Wonderful. Highly recommended to anyone staying in Tuscany. - Everything. Massimo’s place was an oasis of peace and joy in our hectic Italian vacation. N/A
- Detlef (10/5): Great holiday spot! Mille grazie per tutti;) - Massimo and his family are great hosts. His philosophy is: you are a neighbour, not a Hotel guest. And that’s how it feels to have holidays there. Wonderful! Absolut everything is good!
- Elhalaby (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great time at Poggio Salvi! Everything is well maintained, charming and very clean. A great place to relax and explore the area. Massimo was the best host and gave us very good recommendations for restaurants and tours. He was very kind and also called restaurants and booked a wine tour for us! I can highly recommend Poggio Salvi!
- Tanya (4/5): Disappointing - Cleanliness
Suggestion for local restaurants etc. A little too far from local facilities and activities. Additional costs not advised in property detail prior to booking…4 euro for using washing machine, spa to be 20 euro extra and 24hrs notice prior to using.
- Ejnxh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Max (10/5): Easy to call home 🏡 - Everything! We stayed two nights, and it feels natural to call it home. This place IS la Toscana.
- Elif (10/5): A peaceful and beautiful home with good location and welcoming hosts - The accommodation had up to date bathroom and kitchen but they still kept the rustic feel. It is a beautiful home and we got comfortable very fast. The garden is just beautiful and have a lot of locations to interact with. The location is also good for being away from the city chaos but close enough to important touristic locations like Siena. The hosts are also very helpful and generous on sharing travel and restaurant tips. Everything was perfect. Maybe do not forget to pack shampoo/body gel and slippers.
- Vitaly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antonio (9/5): Superb -
- Harold (9/5): Super nice and dedicated hosts, lovely site and very relaxing surroundings! - Wonderful love for details and everything you need to feel at home (spices to cook, wood for the fireplace, local red wine …) Graveled road to reach.
- WimVL1 (10/5): recommended! - This agriturismo is a fantastic place to spend your holidays. The domain is like a dream with lots of trees to take shelter from the Toscan sun. The appartment "Le Rose" is very spacious, convenient and cool in summer. There are mosquito nets on all the windows, so you can sleep with open windows. Also the beds are super. Slept like a rose ;-) Nice, big pool too.
If forget to mention Massimo, who is a wonderfult host and who can tell you everything you need to know about all the nice places to visit in the neighborhood. Would recommend this to anyone!
- SeanSky (10/5): Complete immersion in Tuscan life! - We have been spending the family vacation at Poggio Salvi for 10 years, keeping this hidden spot as our secret. The apartments are the perfect "base camp" to experience and explore the rolling hills of Tuscany, the wineries of Chianti and Montalcino, the churches and galleries of Florence -or- to simply live the quiet "la dolce vida" relaxing at the pool or hiking the backroads. The grocery is about 5km, the heart of Siena is 10km and the train station for day trips to Florence or beyond is about 15 km from Poggio Salvi. But other than the quiet comforts and convenient location, the best asset has been the warm and genuine hospitality of the owners, Massimo and Claudia. After ten years, yes, we are in love with this location...
- colleeneorr (10/5): Terrific time in Tuscany - Agriturismo Poggio Salvi is an amazing Tuscan retreat from all the tourist line ups in Tuscany, Massimo was a lovely host providing the right amount of information about the area. The apartment was well kept and spacious for the 4 of us. Each day we easily made our way to a unique Tuscan sites and then returned "home" to enjoy the pool, grounds and apartment. Our highlights include - the morning bread truck, wine from a local winery on tap and the pool. We highly recommend this accommodation if you are considering a true Tuscan experience in Italy!
- bcalsr1 (10/5): A Week in Tuscany - Having enjoyed our first stay with Massimo in 1997, we looked forward to another opportunity to enjoy the; charm; comfort and convenience of his establishment.
We were amazed at the number of changes and improvements that had taken place in our quarters as well as the adjacent hamlet in recent years.
Our one week stay was very pleasant and relaxing and we made numerous trips to points of interest surrounding Poggio Salvi.
It was wonderful to renew acquaintance with Massimo, meet his family, and spend an enjoyable week in the Tuscan countryside.
- michaelmN4383UW (10/5): A pleasant stay in wonderful landscape! - We found this place some years before already during a vacation in the close neigbourhood of Poggio Salvi. After Massimo gave us a short but convincing round trip we decided to choose for our next time Tuscany trip one of the nice appartments of Massimo and Claudia.
Now we actually spent a very nice week at their appartment "Il Girasole" and we do not regret anything!
It was a very pleasant vacation and we are sure to come again. May be we come next time with our adult sons and their darlings. Enough space for the whole family! The place is very suitable to make excursions to the Chianti area on one hand and the southern Tuscany including the Maremma with its wild animals and native beaches. And: Do not miss Massimos Chianti "from the wall" (1st liter is for free!, see foto). Very enjoyable!
- J7953GWamandam (10/5): Great relaxing family Holiday! - Wonderful holiday from beginning to end! Massimo was there to greet us when we arrived! Our apartment La Rose was big and spacious enough for our family of 2 adults and 3 children age 16, 13 and 7. The huge lovely wooden dining table served as a great place for us all to help prepare dinner and lunch. But it was wonderful to be able to sit outside and enjoy dining Al fresco! And enjoy the evening. But make sure sure you have good mosquito spray! And be sure to sit on the Amish garden chairs to watch the sun go down! The coop in San Rocco a Pilli sells everything you need and supports local producers. But a trip to Casole d'elsa and the butchers is a must. For the best BBQ food ever. Lemon chicken kebabs, picante sausage, different types of burgers and the famous local Fiorentina Tbone. And while your there he makes the best focaccia sandwiches. Although tell him to go easy on the sauce!
Poggio Salvi is a very special place! It's beautifully kept never busy because there are only 4 apartments and there is red wine on tap!
Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing week! I wish we could have stayed longer!
- I3284MYjenniferp (10/5): Wonderful intro to Tuscany! - Poggio Salvi was a perfect spot from which to explore Siena and the surrounding area. While we were too early in the season to enjoy the pool, we took full advantage of the wine spigot (!!) and bbq. The apartment had everything we needed and was comfortable, and Massimo was a great help. We wished we had booked more than 2 nights...it was hard to move on, especially with so much left to explore!
- 337brucef (10/5): Best spot in Tuscany! - You will not be disappointed with your stay here. Not only are hosts Massimo and Claudia wonderful, but the property as well as accommodations are extremely well kept. Great central location and a short drive into Sienna. We will be back soon for our third time.
- 744anjaj (10/5): Where we feel like home - For my husband and me, it was the sixth time we went to Poggio Salvi. This year we were joined by my two sisters and their families, a total of eight people. They had seen many pictures of us at Poggio Salvi. But by arrival they were pleasantly surprised though, by seeing the beauty of Poggio Salvi with their own eyes. We rented the apartment Le Rose and Il Girasole, both very confortable and clean apartments. It was nice to have breakfast together in the large kitchen of app. Le Rose or outside on the terrace when the weather was good. The living room was large enough to sit together and plan our day trips or to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, when the children went to bed. Poggio Salvi is located close to Siena. We went out each morning to tour villages in Tuscany and to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the region. When we returned after a day trip, we came to rest at the pool. The children were able to frolic in the garden. There is a swing, a small football square, basketball ring, darts board,... but with everything taken into account so as not to disturb the other guests. There are provided quiet corners in the garden for guests who want to read or take a nap. Worth mentioning: There is a large private parking, barbecue, washing machine, each apartment has its own place in the garden, there are plenty of lounge chairs at the pool for all guests. Every year my husband and I see the changes and innovations in Poggio Salvi. During the year, Massimo and Claudia work hard to make things better for the comfort and enjoyment of the guests. They like to help you or to give you more information when needed. They are wonderful hosts! Grazie mille Massimo e Claudia, tanti saluti a voi e tutta la famiglia. La famiglia Jaspers dal Belgio.
- Marjan57 (10/5): Paradise excists! - I write this recomandation with a little hesitation. Why should I tell the world about this fantastic place. I could keep it to myself.......but the hosts Massimo and his wife Claudia deserve the credits they have earned. They did everything within their power to make our holliday unforgettable.
The 4 appartements are stylish, beautifull and clean and the beds were great.
The enormous garden, with his beautifull view, has a lot off cozy corners to enjoy the sun or the shade. Fig trees, Apple trees, grapes and Peachtrees: like I said : Paradise.
For kids there is a lot to play.....football; shoot hoops in the basket, swings and ofcourse the nice swimmingpool.
There is no beter way to end a day in the jacuzzi. Massimo arranges a romantic setup with lanterns and chairs so you can dream away in the bubbels.
The pictures on the website Do not lie: it is even better.
You can find Poggio Salvi near Sienna. In about 15 minuten, by car, you can reach this city.
Thank You, Massimo and Claudia, for the more than wonderfull 10 days we could spend in Poggio Salvi!!
- Lfolsen (10/5): Lovely place near Siena - Stayed for a week in the La Rose appartment. Very nice rooms, and a kitchen which was fully functional. The surroundings on the agriturismo are stunning, and there is a sense of space and quiet, which is really nice. There is also play facilities for kids, and lots of space to play and explore. We only met the owner briefly since he was going away on vacation, but his father-in-law made us feel very velcome, and helped us with any questions we had. A lovely place which we can only recommend.
- A8833GSjeffw (10/5): Friendly and wonderful! - We stayed a week here and was one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in the old "barn" (or were they stables?) which has been converted to a beautiful and comfortable...villa, for lack of a better word. While there the sunflowers were in bloom, the plum and pear trees were fruiting, and the bread truck came by each day with our fresh bread.
The owners were amazingly friendly, even planning a wine tasting for us and, believe it or not, a PIZZA PARTY made in their pizza oven in the back. A friend of the owner was visiting from Australia and since he owned a pizzeria back home, he was nice enough to make pizzas for all of the guests; and adding the delicious home made wine (made from grapes from the property and which we would fill our carafes out of a spigot in their laundry room wall) it was a magical evening spent there.
When adding the comfort, price, friendliness of service and incredible amenities I cannot recommend Poggio Salvi Agriturismo enough.
- babeth2013 (10/5): Great place, fantastic hosts! - The stay at Poggio Salvi was fantastic: the hosts are great, more than friendly, around for suggestions if desired, but just as much giving you space and quiet time if you want. The surroundings are splendid, just as the agriturismo itself. And of course the "Chianti tap" is an extra plus.. Last but not least, the pets are a definitive bonus!
Hope to see you again next year, your place feels like home.
- 4jjw9ka22 (10/5): Great Location - everything as advertised! - My wife and I stayed at Poggio Salvi - il Glicine for 8 nights in October. We would definitely stay there again. Everything you see on their website is true.
Massimo and Claudia obviously take great pride in their Agriturismo. The apartments and grounds are immaculately clean and cared for. The location is perfect for day trips to Siena, Florence and all surrounding towns. There are so many great restaurants close by, we wish could have stayed longer and found more.
The "wine on tap" says it all about how fine a stay you will have here. Where else can you fill a litre carafe with red wine from a spout on the outside of the common building and use the "honour" system to record how many litres you drink on a chalkboard.
If you are looking for a villa in the Tuscany country side, your look is over. Stay here, you will be very pleased with your decision.
Thank you Massimo!
- Llai (8/5): Home away from home - Agriturismo POGGIO SALVI is a cute little place near Siena. The owners are very friendly and accomodating. From here you can visit all the great locations: Siena, Volterra, Cortona and San Gimignano.
The apartments are clean and nicely decorated. The grounds are well kept and the swimming pool is very relaxing. There are enough nice restaurants near the appartment; the owners help to find the nearest ones via a shortlist.
We had a great time there. One thing you should keep in mind; the musquitos are very active there between 5 and 8 in the afternoon!
- dwaterman (8/5): The only way to stay in the countryside - After a fiasco at the rental agency, we could not wait to get out of Florence and into the countryside. Dreams of rolling wines, brunello di montalcino and chianti on the mind. Now we had a bit of a scare on the way down as the address Poggio Salvi provides does not pull up on the GPS.
Well, let's just drive to Sovicille and hope we find it. That was all we needed to do as once you reach the tiny tiny town of Sovicille, you will see the signs to Poggio Salvi. It was a welcome relief to see our home for 5 days.
Massimo is a gracious host his apartments are beautiful. Warm and decorated in a tuscan style that makes you realize why so many people flock to Tuscany. The grounds are beautiful. Pool, Jacuzzi, tables and chairs reserved for each apartment. And of course Giotto, the beautiful golden that runs the grounds and loves his guests.
Our apartment was very spacious. We had small kitchen with enough supplies to get us through. Make your own espresso in the morning and cook on the gas stove. Fireplace was running every night. They have plenty of wood for you. We cooked in three out of four nights as it was so nice to sit around with some good vino and just enjoy each other.
Right below our apartment was the wine spicket (literally!) Massimo provides his guests the option to purchase by the 1/2 or 1 liter. 3 euros for amazing house wine is a nice way to start before you get into the good stuff.
Bed was one of the more comfortable on the trip (not saying much, but it did fine.)
The view was the only part lacking. Its not what you see in typical tuscan photos, but as others have said, it is the perfect home base for Siena and all the major hill towns. We would stay here again without any hesitation.
- WD653 (10/5): Return guest, continues to be impressed! - Several return visits because of very convenient access to all of central Tuscany and very warm, sincere hosts, Massimo and Claudia.
Four apartments, fully equipped, pool in season, fireplaces for colder weather, hot tub fired up on request.
15 minutes to heart of Siena, 45 minutes to edge of Florence, hour to Montalcino, etc.
Discovered Siena train station this year - much easier to hop on trains to Florence, Bologna, Venice etc than driving and parking in these neighboring major cities. Full groceries in San Rocco and Rosia, about 10 minutes driving.
- tmrck (10/5): Incredible hosts, great location and ambience, top of our list - We find it hard to believe that Poggio Salvi has only had 13 reviews so far, but we're not surprised to see that all of them were very good to excellent. We just returned from our trip to Italy, and our six nights at Poggio Salvi while touring southern Tuscany were one of the highlights of our trip.
Massimo and his family were gracious, welcoming hosts and every effort was made to ensure that all guests were comfortable and had what they needed. The apartment was kitted out very well, with a well-stocked kitchen, a fireplace, an inviting and comfortable bed, and total peace and quiet. We can't say enough about the hospitality or service at Poggio Salvi - you won't be disappointed.
Situated a little west of Siena, finding Poggio Salvi is straight-forward - we had no GPS and we found it relatively well just with the Michelin map - Massimo has signage at the major turns that is easy to follow. If you're trying to find it coming out directly from Siena, take the main road to Grossetto (four lanes) and turn off at the San Rocci di Pilli exit. Each day, touring from here was great with quick access to Volterra/SanG to the north, or the Sienese Crete to the south, or to Montepulciano / Pienzza / Montalcino, or to Cortona to the east.
We originally heard about Poggio Salvi from friends of ours - we shall now return the favour and recommend it to anyone else visiting southern Tuscany as the agriturismo of choice in the Sienna area. We hope to return on our next trip to Italy and visit again.
