- Heathfield (8/5): - Location and cost. I like that my motorcycle is secure under CCTV and cover. No shower mat and had an alarm in accommodation all weekend. I reported it but was told it couldn't be silenced.
- Gareth (7/5): - Easy check-in, quiet teabags or coffee and cups should be provided

- Alexandra (8/5): Good value for money but you will get lost on campus - Property was good value for money, and convenient for Essex Sports centre.
Bed was surprisingly comfortable. It was also useful having kitchen facilities
Lots of parking on site. The details for finding the office for leu collection were difficult (I know several others felt the same). They have been written presuming guests know the university. I was told to go to "Square 3" on the map, you can't zoom in on a map in the booking.com app so I could not read that part and presumed square 3 was a grid location. I ended up on the wrong side of campus and called the out of hour number for assistance. They told me I'd called the wrong place and sent me to "Pastures reception" (I later realised they thought I was a student). From there I was told that they were for students only, their security guard very kindly walked me across campus but even he was not certain where we were going. Once we found the security office I was given the key in an envelope. The security office gave me directions to the flat (which were not straight forward and he acknowledged that), I got partway and called a friend (also staying there) to find me as once again I was lost and could not see the block name on any maps. Once inside I realised there was a map inside the sealed envelope, I presumed it was a key and WiFi/housekeeping instructions. If I had known it had a map showing the route to accommodation I would have used this. It took me 45 mins from parking to getting into my flat. I know several people were also escorted around by security for similar reasons.
My recommendation is that when sharing the virtual map they give the map grid location as well as it being "square 3". That when handing over keys they explain that there is a map showing the route.
Now that I know where to find it, I would stay again. But I do think you could help guests avoid spending 45 mins in the cold and dark on an unfamiliar campus.
- Tracey (7/5): - Everything other than the bed itself was fine! The bed wasn't that comfortable.
- Raja Moeed (4/5): - Nothing at all Everything
- Kamil (7/5): Tailored more towards students' needs but still good👍 - The view out of the window, lots of storage space, quiet (unless it isn't), good bus connection to the train station, helpful staff, cleanliness. The noise because of renovation works in the nearby room. Lack of cutlery in the kitchen.

- Charmian (6/5): Good location once I'd found it! - Good location for my meeting Ground floor room - couldn't open windows
no shower gel (yet 3 rolls toilet roll!)
no hangers for the wardrbobe
Really hard to find security and accommodation late at night
- Lydia (5/5): Difficult to navigate, confusing breakfast provision - Room was well proportioned.
Attractive campus
Friendly staff On arrival I found it difficult to navigate to the security offic to collect my key card. The automatic email mentioned a map but this wasn't attached. I then had to retrace my steps with my luggage.
The door to the building was then very stiff
Bed was very hard. Room wasn't fully clean, with hairs in the sink
The room rate paid included breakfast, but no information was given on where/when this was served and how to access it.
This turned out to be a pre paid charge card, but no information as to how much credit was on it.
Please provide a map when keys are collected, and information on breakfast.
- Paul (10/5): Alumni nostalgic visit - Quiet, private location.
Modern, clean facilities.
Short walk from central campus.
Ample parking and fees included in the booking.
Picturesque park with lakes, rabbits and squirrels, very nice for relaxing strolls.
Campus amenities open and accessible to visitors. Not a thing!
- Ian (8/5): Fine - Convenient for my needs That I forgot to check the wardrobe and left clothing there.
And making contact for such events proves difficult. It’s all about the next sale
- Matteo (8/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): Clean and perfect for a short stay when you have lectures at the University. - I always appreciate that the towels and bedding are ultra clean. I think i have got used to the bed not having a spring layer in the frame, but i have got used to it now.
- Simonetta (8/5): Ok! - Carina e accogliente. Un po’ complicato orientarsi. Non c’era l’asciugacapelli.
- Zehra (6/5): Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay with a few areas for improvement. - The campus environment is really nice, and the houses are quiet, which is great for a short stay. The rooms are okay for a few nights—nothing fancy, but they do the job. The location is super convenient, and the hot breakfast is a nice bonus. With a few small improvements, it could be even better. Accessing taxis could definitely be easier—maybe adding QR codes for booking or calling a taxi would help a lot. The service overall was good, but a few things could be improved. Clearer instructions on how to collect orders would make the process less confusing, and offering more cake or croissant options would be a nice touch. I was also charged extra for my coffee, so clearer pricing would be appreciated. One last note: the FindMyWays page and the Uber app don’t work properly—they often can’t detect the location automatically, which makes booking a bit difficult.
- Jake (10/5): I know where to book for next time! - Was very clean!
- Mumford (6/5): Convenient - Handy to visit my son at University. Facilities were basic, clean and spartan
- Mary (10/5): Good - Everything room was very clean bed was lovely staff was welcoming

- Anosh Ashik (8/5): Our experience was stressful due to a misunderstanding that could have been handled better. -
- Michael (6/5): Good for light solo travellers looking to book short stays - The bed was surprisingly very comfortable, the room had adequate options for storage despite it's overall small size. Nice fob security system. Great location. Fast WiFi. Clean room. No elevator in the building so it's not ideal for disabled or people with lots of luggage. The location for where you have to collect/
drop off the room key is quite far if you're carrying luggage. Would've been better if the place was moved closer to the Houses. The room is very small so only ideal for solo travellers. You have to bring your own toiletries and kitchenware as theirs is a bit lacking. They gave towels and one of those small spherical soaps.
- Bruce (10/5): - Its location
- Lindley (3/5): - Every person I came across whether staff or student was pleasant, polite and helpful where possible The bed was awfully uncomfortable. I barely slept and left the accommodation in pain. The only thing nice about the full english breakfast was the tea and coffee from the machine. I tried something different both days with same outcome. When I left the room in the morning all was fine but when I went back at 9pm the toilet wouldn't flush and no reply from out of hours number
- Bruce (8/5): - Kitchen No tv
- Stephen (5/5): -
- Ahmed (10/5): -
- Claire (3/5): I wouldn't re book - Bedding, and towels provided, room was clean Check in was horrendous. I arrived at 5pm when it was dark, insufficient signage to find where to collect the key. Also unable to find the right car park. Eventually a student directed me to security and security then were able to guide me to key collection.
You need to allow 30 mins to check out as you need to walk key back to main campus then walk back to accommodation as you can't drive round (unless you leave the campus then re enter at another entrance).
Noisy at night (doors slamming) as the accommodation has fire doors but they don't have silent closures so every time some one comes in / out a room there is a slamming door.
Bed was uncomfortable (could feel the springs)
- Saini (8/5): -
- Evripides (10/5): -
- Shiori (8/5): You can feel you are a student. - Great opportunity feeling I am a student and good price with breakfast. I understand no shampoo and water but I needed dryer and few hungers.
and the bed was bumpy.
- Stuart (10/5): -
- Jozsef (10/5): -
- Robert (7/5): Great value and location. - Great location very clean. Good response by security to a false fire alarm. Nothing
- Galib (8/5): -
- Dianne (10/5): Its okei - Fresh towels and pillow cases Bed linens a bit dirty,
Far from stem lab so i need to walk around 8-10mins.
- Burak (10/5): -
- Ray (7/5): Student accommodation let out to visitors - Relatively cheap, shops and food around, in Colchester. It’s basically student en-suite flats being let out to visitors, which is fine as long as you understand this isn’t hotel standard. Breakfast was fine, a basic cooked one at the canteen 5 min walk away. They don’t say that the accommodation is near the car park, so I lugged my bags down to where you get the key, only to be told I needed to lug them back. Apart from a student fast food burger place, all campus sit down food shuts at 8pm in term, though there is a restaurant at the nearby hotel, which was fine. Don’t understand why they provide a fully-equipped kitchen apart from no cutlery, crockery, pans or utensils!
- HyunKi (10/5): - very kind staff. nothing else.
- DND (8/5): It was good, could be better! - The view from my room was lovely and the WiFi was excellent. It was easy to get to my classes from my room. It felt safe. I didn't take the breakfast option because £49 per day was already too steep. I felt the spring in my body while sleeping on the bed but I just slept in it because I didn't want to get in the hassle of getting it exchanged. . The room was way too small and the bathroom even smaller. I kept banging into the door every time I went. Also, there needs to be a sign outside for smokers to please use the ashtray. Cigarette butts were strewn around and no one cleaned it for 18 days that I was there.
- Lana (9/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Really good stay and very convenient. - Clean and good location. Shower not powerful enough
- Sanjeev (8/5): - Excellent place to stay if you have any business at the university campus or around it. The rooms as basically part of the University student accommodation which has got shared kitchen but ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are neat and clean. Kitchen, even though shared was kept clean. Great value for money.
- Danil (10/5): It was a nice and cosy stay. - Nice room and facilities, car park and a forest park next to the house. Noisy doors
- Abdul Ghani (5/5): -
- Alex Notski (10/5): -
- Lynne (10/5): This was a great location when I helped move in my daughter to the university from out it country. - My room was a dorm which was very comfortable. It was nice to enjoy the outside benches as well. Noisy room when people were also in the same hall. There was no cutlery in the common kitchen. It would have been nice to have a few items stocked so I could have had a yogurt in the morning without trying to find a spoon.

- Peter (6/5): - Where do I start? The booking for the room came with no (zero) information on how to locate the room within the entire university. This is a big campus, and you will be provided with no information apart from an incorrect, utterly useless postcode.
I started with the first head office which was near the (incorrect) postcode, but they directed me to the other end of the campus, to another head office, which I couldn't find. Because of roadworks, this was a 10 minute drive away. I did find the security office, who were very helpful & said that "they get people asking all the time". The pleasant security lady took me to an obscure office door which apparently was where I was supposed to be.
The (also helpful) person in this office then directed me back to the first end of the campus to my dormitory. The room itself was bare minimum but served the purpose, and was clean and tidy.
How difficult would it be for someone at the university to create a welcome sheet that explains how to get to the (appropriate) office? I was provided a postcode which turned out to be useless. It took me about an hour to finally get my car parked in the appropriate carpark (another 10 minute drive)and my bag into the room.
On campus there are plenty of eating places, and a fairly well equipped gym, all within 10 minutes walk from my room.
Would I stay again? Probably not. But at least if I do, next time I'll know the routine instead of feeling like I'm a contestant on some reality tv challenge!
- Jamie (4/5): Don't follow Google maps. - The amount of walking between getting the key and going to the room. If you aren't sure where to go if you arrive late. It's a case of being your own food for the shared kitchen.
- Andrew (9/5): Convenient budget stay in Colchester - Great value and convenient. Inclusion of the gym. Good base for exploring local coast eg Frinton beach huts for a nice sea side walk I think the absence of basic crockery in the kitchen and utensils is a faff. That said because I knew in advance I can just pop my “camping crate” in the car (with pan, wooden spoon, plates etc), but if I came by train it’s quite a bit more hassle.
Dus heel tevreden
- David (7/5): if it helps, use "what 3 words" app & search for ///shot.spit.love - very basic room, as expected for what I paid Minor gripes, No cups or kettle in the room, I saw other reviews so brought my own.
I was only down for 2 nights visiting so this room was OK for my needs.
- Hanafi (7/5): -
- Sylvia (8/5): My room so I could visit my mentaly handicapped br - My stay was comfortable although I’d wished there had been a bit more in the room ie kettle facilities so I could of had a drink the map I was given was very badly printed as I’m elderly I couldn’t read it apart from that they were very friendly and the security was absolutely wonderful I had to end my stay early as my sister died and I just wanted to get home my brother lives 10 minutes from where I was staying it was very convenient but not the best
- Yee Hung (7/5): -
- Reece (7/5): Good value For money. - Good value. A nice walk from Wivenhoe The water in the shower was boiling hot. Couldn’t make it colder.
