- PRAKASH CHANDRA (10/5): Very good - Best hotel/guest house
- Timothée (9/5): -
- Ragna (10/5): Wonderful accommodation - We loved our stay at The Train View! The host family is the friendliest people! They were so accommodating and went the extra mile for us to be as comfortable and informed about Nuwara Eliya as possible. We had to check out at 07.00 our last day, and still they woke up to make us breakfast at 06.15. The breakfast was delicious and they served amazing locally produced tea. The host told us everything we needed to know about buses and the train to Ella. The view was amazing and it was only a short walk to the most beautiful waterfall. The Train View is located 15 minutes outside of Nuwara Eliya town, but the town is all about nature which made the location perfect. We really want to recommend this wonderful accommodation! Make sure to bring warm clothes because Nuwara Eliya is very cold at night/early morning
- Mijntje (9/5): - Very beautiful location and kind people!!
- Anastasia (10/5): - Perfect accommodation for our stay also serving a great breakfast. Would definitely recommend
- Martina (10/5): We had a wonderful stay in Nuwara Eliya. Our host was very friendly, accommodating, and attentive, ensuring we felt at h - 1. An extremely convenient location if you need to be near the train station.
2. A friendly host who made us feel comfortable and realy looked after us.
- Leon (8/5): - great breakfast little moldy in one room
- Sandrabe4 (8/5): -
- Sowmini (6/5): - Nothing particularly We only booked the room to store the bags since we planned, exploring during the day and taking the bus to return on the same day evening. But, we were denied the use of the washroom for everyone since we only booked for one bedroom. It is obvious that we only need a one bedroom because the purpose is only to store the bags. It was disappointing to make us book another facility to accommodate the whole family and asked us to pay for both rooms.
- Veronica (10/5): - Great place to stay. Really delicious breakfast and dinner. Very helpful family
- Sara (10/5): Amazing - We stayed one night at The Train View, and it was an unforgettable experience. Selva and his family were wonderfully warm and welcoming, serving us delicious homemade local dishes for both dinner and breakfast. The chicken curry was outstanding — rich in flavor and absolutely worth trying. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. From our room, we were treated to a breathtaking panorama of endless tea plantations, a view we will always remember. -
Zrobił super kolację i śniadanie.
- Rania (8/5): Very good - The host was kind and helpful, the view is breathtaking especially the room with balcony.
- Atthanayaka (7/5): Good -
- Murtaza (9/5): Superb -
- Abdul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominique (10/5): Exceptional - Salva was incredibly welcoming and attentive! Recommend if you’re stopping by Nanu Oya station.
- Supun (10/5): Great stay near Nanuoya — comfy room, good breakfast, friendly owner, and close to the train station. - clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was really good and homemade. The location is perfect — just a few minutes from Nanuoya town, the train station, and the Nanuoya ella waterfall. Plus, the house owner was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast Dimmer
- Piya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fan-wei (10/5): Exceptional - The homestay owner was incredibly helpful—when he found out I had lost my wallet on the bus, he accompanied me to search for it and report it to the police.
From the rooftop of the homestay, you can watch trains departing from the station. The breakfast served is a traditional Sri Lankan meal—very hearty and authentic.
- Danzil (8/5): It’s a house not a hotel if you wish to stay at someone home without privacy you can book it - Village Vibe It’s very very small and has only two rooms with attached bathroom and one with shared bathroom
It’s a owner house below and above is house converted into the rooms described above
- Gimhani (8/5): Very good - It was a wonderful experience for us throughout the tour. Thank you Mr. Selva for ur great service. Highly recommended !!!😍
- Amalia (10/5): Exceptional - Really friendly family and yummy food and hot water!!
- Ajithsworld (8/5): Beautiful views....Great Host ! - Great host . Close to Nanu Oya station. Beautiful hill side views Has trouble finding. Approach road is not good....rooms very a little cramped for 2 people.
- Sofia (8/5): Very good - Short distance from the train station - went by foot with 2 backpacks and the family was amazing! I arrived late at night and they made me the best dinner ever. the bed was super comfortable too!
- Melanie (9/5): One night stay - Perfect location with an amazing view! Loved the hosts and the food was just amazing ☺️
- Abhinav (7/5): Good -
- Deeksha (1/5): Misleading listing—showed availability for two, but denied stay saying it’s not suitable for couples. - Disappointed with the experience—website showed two dorm beds available, but when we contacted them, they said only one was available and that it wouldn’t be comfortable for couples. Poor communication and not as advertised. Everything
- Talisa (5/5): Passable - The owner and family are very kind, and the dinner / breakfast was very good. On request they prepared for us breakfast to takeaway for the train ride. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the bedroom could be improved very much (however the bathroom was fine). The shower did not have any warm or luke water, which is a pitty in that cold area. The location is hard to reach by car.
- Sjoerd (10/5): Very good place - Mr and Mrs Selva Homestay - clean nice bright simple balcony Perfect location very nearby railway station. Mr & Mrs are very kind friendly helpfull Mrs is like a Queen in the kitchen she provide delicious foods: breakfast dinner
Wish them long life and happiness 🙏
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eva (10/5): Exceptional - The owner is very nice and the wife cooks everything on her own. Very tasty coconut cake. The place is only 5 walking minutes from the train station.
Such a nice view!
- Vijay (8/5): Good stay and food at Nanu oya - Accessible from Nanu oya railway station. Homely food. Good people welcoming.Mr. selva, vibhin, sujee, and familye took good care of us and also helped us with planning for our tour. They also guided us to reach the property as we arrived late by train. We got a different room that we booked but we managed with the general balcony and smaller room.
- Ankur (4/5): Disappointing - Washroom was on different floor...lot of cockroaches in room...lot of sound coming from street till late night
- Alison (8/5): Ideal stop over accommodation. - Great bas
ic guest house ran by lovely accommodating family. Great views from the property and a Great breakfast.
- Harjit (9/5): Perfect place to stay to break up journey from Kandy to Ella. Staff were incredible and breakfast might be the best I’ve - Staff, breakfast, cleanliness Not much to dislike
- Rahul (9/5): Wonderful stay.Good host n very good breakfast. - Everything. Vipin is such a caring person n so are his parents. Vipin is qualified in hospitality.Highly recommended. Nothing
- Mariona (6/5): Pleasant -
- Florian (10/5): The best place to stay in Nanu Oya - As always a fantastic stay. A warm and heartfelt welcome. Great food, you have to order the rice & curry for diner, you will not regret it. It’s the best place to stay in Nanu Oya where there are way less tourists than in Nuwara Eliya. I always come here and will come again.
- Sara (9/5): Superb -
- Berta (10/5): Best room for best price - Very beautiful room, close to train. Delishious breakfast.
- Nikolaos (9/5): great stay - Very nice family place. Our room was pretty simple but did the job just fine. Tasty breakfast! Very nice and interesting experience overall!
- Yvonne (10/5): Family are lovely, easy walk by stairs to the village. Felt very welcome. - The friendly family atmosphere, the view from our balcony room. The food! Dinner was amazing mix of curry, veg and rice. Breakfast was traditional pancakes and Dahl. Family organised tuk tuk pick up at station and a tour of Nuwara the following day for good price. Nothing
- Amandeep (2/5): Very poor -
- Harmeet (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (2/5): Very poor - Friendly hosts, gave us tea on arrival The problem in Sri Lanka is because all the people are so nice nobody wants to give them a bad review. The hot water shower had electic cable just taped up. We travel a lot and understand not to have high expectations but this site should be for tourists to have an informed and truthful opinion. No train view either, think they used
- Frick (10/5): Loving home with good food and a view - Friendly family who helped me with a short notice tour to Ramboda falls and Nuwara Elya. Clean och with a loving homy feeling. Love the balcony, view and my own bathroom. Lovely home cooked dinner. Gave me extra blanket when it was chilly in the night. Helped with early check in.
Advice is to take the stairs from underneath road, you don't have to take the Google maps road around. WiFi could be faster and shower hotter but it was okay.
- Brittany (6/5): Ok hotel, fantastic people and food - The owners were great. Very friendly and helpful, and the meals were unbelievable! It was very drafty which led to the room being very cold. The door and windows didn’t fully shut, and locking the bathroom was a pain.
- Kasun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lovis (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place with the nicest family who runs it!
We had dinner and breakfast here and it was sooo good, super tasty! They even arranged a Tuc Tuc Tour for us around the area and it was great!
The view is also amazing!
Thank you so much for taking such good care of us! 🫶
- Neil (10/5): The best host ever!! - The place is the closest to the train station and atm which makes life much easier as the town is full of hills, the room was good any complaint, the only thing missing was WiFi, the host was the best one I ever had so far he helped us with the payment, recommended us places and cooked us delicious Sri Lankan food. Recommended 100% I would have loved to have WiFi in the room
- Perrine (9/5): Good stay - Small and simple room but comfortable
Nice view from the window
Good spot to take the train from Nanu Oya
Very friendly staff
Good dinner and breakfast
- Natalie (8/5): The real life - Selva and his family took care of all we needed. We stayed one night to interrrupt the long train ride between Ella and Kandy. The location is perfect and some shops are in the nearer surrounding. We enjoyed long walks through the tea plantations and to the waterfall in Nanu Oya. The double room with the balcony is stunning. I stayed in the dorm room. Very basic but I slept good. Shared bathroom is upstairs. We had lunch and dinner and the family cooked for us.
- Justyna (8/5): Very good - Very nice family running the homestay. Had an amazing dinner organised there, which was great after a long train journey. it was a little cold in the night as the windows had poor isolation
- Rachel (9/5): A gorgeous slice of family life in Sri Lanka. Would love to return - The family who run this guest house and so welcoming, they will do anything for you. The breakfast and dinner we ate there were delicious. I would stay here again just to see the family and to hang out with their gorgeous children and extended family! It’s no frills but full of heart Rooms are small but it’s a family house
- Nirlendu (9/5): Superb -
- Nanayakkara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pradipta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheuk (10/5): Exceptional - Hands down the best guesthouse in Nurawa Eliya. Very convenient location, just 5 mins walk from the train station. Had 2 amazing nights staying here because they offered free breakfast and quality Sri Lankan food for dinner at very reasonable prices. The wife of the owner of the hostel really knows how to cook. I can’t take spicy food and they really made the curry very mild but still very flavourful. Besides, the bed in the double room was soft and comfy. Also had the chance to chat with this wonderfully warm and hospitable family. The living room was full of love and joy. And they really tried hard to make me feel home. Much kudos to Vibin and Lale for taking me to Horton Plains to watch sunrise. I couldn’t ask for more. Thank you all!!
- Janneke (10/5): Exceptional - The family was super super sweet. We arrived a bit later so they couldn’t make us dinner anymore but recommended us an amazing place.
We really felt welcomed and at home. In the morning we enjoyed an amazing view with an even more delicious breakfast.
- Joanica (9/5): Superb -
- Mahendran (8/5): ward, friendly host - FRIENDLY HOST Nothing

- N (9/5): Superb -
- Sandeep (10/5): Affordable home sweet home!! Go for it - Nice, simple, affordable 👌 Little inside from main road.
- Wickum (7/5): Good - The room is small but can manage and value for the payment. We had local breakfast. They made some pan cakes for my child. The owner looking for us time to time. Thanks.
- Fredag1883 (7/5): Good -
- Pushpakumara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location and view, the family is very nice. The private room was very comfortable and the breakfast was really good !
- Paavani (9/5): Superb -
- Pasindu (8/5): Very good -
- Grace (10/5): Absolutely lovely! - We had the most wonderful stay at The Train View! The room itself was clean and the bed was so unbelievably comfortable. The bathroom had hot water which was excellent!
The hosts were so friendly, welcoming and wonderful. They organised a trip for us for the day which was excellent and really well priced. We also chose to have dinner at the property for a small price and the food was absolutely excellent! Breakfast in the morning was also so lovely. We were also given lots of local tea which was great!
The location was excellent, given we had a tour, we got to explore Nuwara Eliya and surrounding areas whilst remaining close to the train station. The surrounding area was so beautiful and there was lots of walks/waterfalls close by.
I really recommend this stay to anyone - so homely, comfortable and welcoming. A perfect stay! Nothing, everything was perfect!
- Fernando (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): Close to train, but not much to do in town. Great home cooked breakfast but over charged. - Breakfast was good, however we were over charged at checkout so I’m not really sure if you could consider it free? Good location, clean room. Wi-Fi. Dirty Bathroom, being over charged, not much in the area - it’s just convenient for the train.
- Facundo (9/5): Superb - Clean and bright room with a beautiful view of the tea plantation. Perfect for one night to make a stop near the train station and continue to Ella
We made a very interesting tour with a tuc tuc, that the owner had arranged to waterfalls and tea plantations and a factory.
The owner was really kind and speaks very good english. The breakfast was good. The room was small but for one night it's totally fine, everything was clean.
- Bevan (10/5): Amazing - It was so nice. Clean, beautiful room. I can tell a lot of thought went into it, international plug, nice lighting, etc.
The owners were so kind. They let us check in late, gave us breakfast. Helped us with getting the train the next day. They are so sweet! Not applicable
