Guest Reviews

- India (10/5): A perfect place to stay for a night - brilliant food and friendly staff - The hotel staff were all so friendly and accommodating. We arrived with three bikes, and they found a secure place to store them for us. Dinner was delicious, and the staff were very good at accommodating all of my Mum's very specific demands at dinner. The room was very quiet and comfortable with a hot shower, and comfy beds. The breakfast was brilliant and really surpassed our expectations. I didn't go for a full breakfast which I really regretted once my partner was served his, and he was raving about it so much! I couldn't fault this place, and would definitely return if I ever return to Inverbervie.
- wim (9/5): Goede ligging - Uiterst vriendelijk personeel. Gezellige pub en uitgebreid ontbijt. Diner ‘‘s avonds is eenvoudig maar goed. Prijs kwaliteit.
- Jean (8/5): The day I met my ancestors - The cosyness of the hotel. and particularly Allan the host who helped with all my requests and the very helpful and friendly under manager Alisha. The food was very good at evening dinner and Allan cures his venison and lamb both of which were fresh and delicious. Allan also serves a wide and varied breakfast and a very good brand of coffee which I seemed to have drunk endless cups. He was very generous and a very welcoming host I can't think of anything.
Echt helemaal niets

Home cooked meals, nice people, please support & book direct No Kareoke
No wedding parties
No Disco at midnight
- Charlotte (8/5): - Everything was great except the timings for breakfast. Breakfast (which was great) isn't served till 9am, so when I had to make an early start, I had to stop for breakfast en route. Most hotels serve an earlier breakfast.
- Kirsty (10/5): Great stay - Staff were very friendly. Bed super comfortable. Room was lovely and clean. Great breakfast to start the day. .
- heather (8/5): - Great location
- Colin (7/5): Decent value for what it was. - Decent value for what it was, shower was nice. Food just finishing on arrival, room very warm at night, view kinda grim.
- Noel (10/5): -
- William (8/5): One night stopover which worked well for me. - The staff were friendly and helpful. Coffee and breakfast were good. Good value
- Hofer (8/5): - Very nice people all around. Everyone was super helpful and nice. Breakfast at the coffee shop was awesome Felt a bit chaotic but that was fine everything worked out anyways.
Sprchový kout by si zasloužil trochu více péče.
- Clay Wrangler (9/5): A country pub and a big welcome. - A traditional country pub with excellent customer service. Welcoming, friendly and staff and owner for whom nothing was too much trouble. Good food, excellent breakfasts, comfortable rooms which were literally being refurbished as we left. Will certainly be back.
- Kelly (8/5): -
A fuire.
- Vladei (8/5): A reasonable place for an overnight stay near Dunnottar Castle. - Good location, easy check in, friendly staff, free street parking, breakfast included in price. Rather dated.
- McNALLY (10/5): -
- Elena (9/5): - Personale molto gentile ed ottima colazione
- Devin (3/5): Dated, short staffed, unable to deliver basic b and b - Location (for work related trip) Clearly understaffed; evening meal orders stopped at 7.15pm; no bar after 8.45pm; booked and paid for bed and breakfast - breakfast only available at 8.30am, exactly when I had to check out; 8am request declined “no one available to make it”; offered a yoghurt to be left for me! No one around in the morning (had prepaid) so had to buy a bacon roll in nearby Scotmid. Very poor.
- Rennie (3/5): Bad - Excellent breakfast and dinner. Room was grubby. Was situated above the kitchen where a noisy fan kept me awake most of the night. Earlier I asked a very grumpy barman if it was turned off during the night and he assured me it was. It wasn't and ran intermittently. Water ran cold at the end of showering. Bathroom very run down. Threadbare bath towel. Altogether sub standard. Very disappointing.

- Shona (7/5): It was the perfect location for our needs. Would recommend . - Rooms were a little basic but clean. Staff were very friendly. Meal in the bar was lovely.
Breakfast at adjoing coffee shop was superb. We didn't realise the bar area shut so early.
- Allan (5/5): Good -
- James (9/5): Excellent - Food was excellent, room was clean, staff were friendly Nothing
- Hugh (10/5): We had a relaxed and comfortable stay in a lovely wee hotel. - The owner was very nice and nothing was any problem to him. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was perfect.
- Larry (9/5): Superb - The Crown is a great village Hotel, the staff are excellent very pleasant and helpful and I would recommend it highly.1 member of staff who especially deserves praise was the young girl (Tila) I think, she works in the cafe connected next door very pleasant and chatty and made us a lovely breakfast. Only 1 snag was having a front facing bedroom looking onto Main St , from very early the traffic was very heavy and noisy from 6 onwards, this could easily be resolved by fitting new double glazing windows in the front facing bedroom's
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Really friendly family who run the hotel/pub/cafe. Good bar staff and good atmosphere (on domino’s night). The only negative (which seems consistent across the b&b’s I’ve stayed at) - no blackout blinds, so early morning light can disturb sleep.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Laurie (9/5): Definitely would recommend staying here and happy for a return stay. - Breakfast was better than expected. The friendliness, local knowledge and service of the owners was very welcoming. Bed was the most comfortable giving the best nights’ sleep since being in Scotland. No real complaints but the a suggestion would be to have a shelf for products in the shower recess.
- Joseph (9/5): Superb - staff are so friendly breakfast is amazing so much on offer and portions to keep you going all day.
- Susanne (6/5): Dog friendly - I liked the fact that it was dog friendly at a reasonable extra cost. The staff and owner (Alan) were very helpful with their local knowledge and advice. I personally thought that the cleanliness could have been a lot better. Throughout the hotel. The sheets and towels were clean but......
Like everything else, I feel that it's had its "best days".
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Met our requirements and budget - Breakfast was excellent Room could have been larger and better decor
- Sessford (9/5): Superb - Excellent host!
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jonathan (10/5): Lovely clean warm hotel, superb food, delicious breakfast and restaurant meals, very dog friendly! - Lovely hotel, immaculately clean, lovely warm room, wonderful hospitality, delicious hot cooked breakfast, delicious hot evening meals in the restaurant, and very dog friendly.
- Mcnally (8/5): Very good -
- Iain (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Very friendly staff, good evening meal and breakfast. Quiet, comfortable room.
Great location (we were walking along the coast).
- Fay (5/5): Passable - The room wasn't particularly welcoming. Light shade on the ceiling was dusty and squint. Bed did not look crisp and clean, just a black duvet cover on not even snapped at the bottoms. It did have kettle tea and coffee, but no wee biscuit. Shower room was OK. Sink plug could not open to allow water to drain away.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Decor tired in place, curtains needed hooked back onto runner, bedside lamp not working.
Really old building meant stairs were a bit uneven, just took more care when using.
Bedding and towels pristine white, toilet and shower clean. Pub downstairs with bar food options which was handy. Very friendly dog and staff.
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Lovely family visit and 1 night stop at The Crown. Very comfortable, lovely staff and full marks for the breakfast!
- Larry (7/5): One night only, but would and will probably stay again but next time not in room 6. - The Staff were really friendly and pleasant and the Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very tasty The room (6) was clean and tidy but very noisy from early morning with other guests or staff walking past out in the corridor but apart from this we had quite a pleasant stay,
- Matthew (7/5): Good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Agnieszka (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent hotel and location l recommended very good food
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shona (8/5): Very good - Nice hotel and clean with lovely friendly staff and locals. Had our meal there both night's and it was excellent. The town has everything to hand and not far from bigger towns
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janice (4/5): Comfortable and clean. - Tv not working. Took a long time to resolve and staff member reluctant to come to room to fix. Wanted me to fix wire by myself and I felt his response was abrupt
- Steve (10/5): Hotel and restaurant very good and the staff brilliant - Great place , I used it as a stopover and as I had to leave before breakfast the landlord made me a packed lunch and left it in a fridge on my landing Nothing
- Alan (5/5): Passable - Brand new bed was nice to sleep in . I travel lots for work and never been in a place with no late facilties for some grub.
Was working till 8.
Pub stopped serving anything at half 7.
No local facilties open.
Pot noddle from small shop was my dinner .
Paid for breakfast.
No-one about then found a bag with my room number on it with cheese ham sandwich in it and a bottle of water.
Won't be back sorry
- James (10/5): In short? I'd recommend a short stay at the 'Crown' as we loved the hotel and the 'wee' town. - Breakfast was good and the accommodation excellent. The meals in the pub were also excellent. Location, and being able to park our hire car just outside was an added bonus. We loved our stay and would return. The lady from the bar/restaurant was also very welcoming and professional as was the gent who ran the cafe and assisted us upstairs with our luggage. Thanks! Nothing. Inverbervie was a delight.
- Catherine (10/5): Friendly hosts and great food - Very welcoming hosts, lovely recently refurbished rooms and really good food! The bar has a comfortable, friendly feel.
The cooked breakfast is at an extra cost but very much worth it.
- Gary (5/5): A bit dated - Location A bit dated and not a comfy bed
- Christopher (7/5): Good - Continental was ok. No internet.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Maciej (10/5): Exceptional - Was room all as promised car park nearby, NORTHERN LIGHTS All ok
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - clean, hot water, quiet, cozy. complimentary tea, coffee, several bottled waters in room. Good menu lots of comfort food for those chilly nights. Good parking just a few feet away in the common car park.
- Derek (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (3/5): Poor -
- Jeroen (10/5): Simple but cost and very very nice ! - Such a cosy hotel and lovely managers. We had a drink and diner there. Really felt at home and loved the food.
Breakfast was at the coffeeshop next door. Perfect stay for us ! Nothing
- Ian (7/5): Good accommodation in the centre of Inverbervie - The hotel is convenient for the centre of Inverbervie, with roadside parking outside. The room was comfortable, as was the bed, and clearly plenty of money has been spent upgrading the facilities recently. Only one gripe here, and this affects all accommodation in Scotland, the price has risen very considerably compared to five years ago. That said, we'll stay again in the future, as I'm a regular traveller to this part of Scotland.
- Gail (7/5): OK - Breakfast was great. Room was comfortable and well equipped The check-in/welcome was truly awful. Customers in the bar were trying to help us to locate someone to check us in. When he did arrive and I said we had a reservation he just disappeared again without a word. When he returned several minutes later with a key and we queried whether there was a problem he just said that he had to go through the process on the computer. Not one word of welcome never mind a sorry for keeping you waiting (we still don't know why it was so).
- Rebecca (8/5): Ideal -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly, clean , great food and hospitality
- Ewan (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very clean and comfortable The Breakfast was great with a wide selection of food and the evening meals were very good The staff were very friendly and helpful all in all it was a wonderful week will definitely recommend to friends and family Nothing it was all perfect
- Alan (6/5): Pleasant - Good location and room was very nice Was booked in for bed and breakfast but came down at 8am and no one around. Sign said breakfast in coffee shop next door but it was shut up and no one around so didn't end up with any breakfast
- Copplestone (9/5): Superb -
- Andy (7/5): Good -
- Steve (6/5): Fairly basic, but fair price and friendly staff - This is an okay hotel and that offers value for money. The main positive was the staff, who were very friendly and accommodating.
The facilities in the hotel felt very basic and not a hotel I would stay as a base, but travelling through, yes.
The food is interesting, there are few options in the town and it appeared the best option. Fair price for fair food and lots of options. I was going to say a pie is not meat on a plate and pie top on it, but a Scottish person I know, says that is how it is done there, so I won't!
Breakfast is interesting. To go for this option on booking.com you pay a few pounds more, but you only get cereal, toast and tea, so was a bit disappointed. I did speak to the girl who was serving and she said historical people were not eating a full cooked. So if you are reading this, if you want a cooked breakfast, do not take the breakfast option and pay on the day! £10 for cooked. The wifi did not work in the room
- Deborah (8/5): Good Value, Good Location….clean tidy property, friendly village - Felt Safe and friendly, great value for money good location good cafe next door for breakfast No…you don’t expect the ritz for the price paid I’ve stayed in worse hotels charging £150 per night upwards
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
