Guest Reviews
- Rachel (2/5): - The check in was very confusing. No staff on site. You walk into a tiny office that says to ring bell for service, but there was no bell. Then it says call to check in, but phone service was non existent. Log into their WiFi to make WiFi calls so you can check in. For non tech savvy people, this will be an issue. The room was clean and fine, but once you turn the heater on, you cannot control the temperature. We set it to 68, and it felt like 90 degrees. Did not sleep well at all due to this. And…. The room is Very tiny. Like a miners cabin. Which made it cute, but not worth $115 a night.
- Dolores (10/5): - Parking is convenient. The room is cozy and comfortable.
- Laura (8/5): - Room had everything we needed.
Comfortable and quiet.
- GARY (6/5): - No breakfast was included and dining options nearby were very limited.
- Jennifer (8/5): Inner NV Adventure - Very comfortable bed and rustic cozy! Clean room but a little quirky, nice overall. Amazing service although I think one guy runs the whole town, not many food options but Grandma's was good and very friendly and coffee spot across from Champs Amazing coffee and cinnamon rolls
- Jim (10/5): - A gem of a place in the middle of nowhere. It lived up to its name with a cozy room that was clean and comfortable.
- Nanette (8/5): - would like coffee in room
- Dennis and Jan (10/5): - We arrived around 10 PM. You call to check-in. There is a small front office where you can pick up water, the Wi-Fi password and your room key,. The office is self-service which worked out fine.
The room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and we had a good night's rest.
- Lindon (10/5): - small room, clean and maintained. Very limited dining options in town, but great meal at Grandma's if you hit their limited operating hours.
- Terry (2/5): - The entire town of Austin, NV, is closed down. Literally a ghost town. There is no store front for this alleged operating motel. I couldn't even find it. Consequently, I went to a different city in Nevada for lodging. Wasted my time and certainly my money. I will never again use this booking site,
- William (10/5): - Simple, but clean and well run.
- lionelmO1256OY (8/5): Old fashioned but modern - Great place! On the main drag, super clean and well maintained. Great staff and very friendly. Would stay again anytime!
- Robert (10/5): - Exactly what you'd expect from this one street town in the middle of nowhere Nevada. Clean, cozy, comfortable, convenient and everything you need for an overnight stay. Would stay here again.
- Janice (10/5): - Very comfortable stay here with great meal at Grandma’s just up the street. Highly recommend for pit stop on Highway 50.
- Roberta (8/5): Turkey hitchhiker - Room was clean and comfortable. Easy check in and check out. Woke up in the morning by the rooster across the street. A turkey in the parking lot greeted us in the morning. Charming tiny town
- Claude (10/5): Excellent and comfortable. - Owner is friendly, easy to talk to and very efficient.
- Sheryl Wassom (10/5): - The property appears to be older than dirt, but it was very clean and was the perfect spot for what we needed.
- sarah (10/5): - A very clean cozy place to stop on your way to Vegas or cali any traveling along that way. They were very professional and kind. Will be visiting there in the future. Thank you!!
- Terri (8/5): - Well maintained older property.
- Marylyn (10/5): - Very cozy. Small room but has everything you need.
- Reecia (10/5): - The linen on this bed is the softest I’ve ever slept on. I will come back just for the bed. Seriously.
- Michael (10/5): - Helpful staff
- Leah (10/5): - The after-hours check in process was easy as was the early departure accommodations
- Joseph (10/5): Small place, great sleep - Slept amazing, comfy, quiet, clean.
- Miriam (10/5): Big Yes to Highway 50! - An undiscovered gem! Very friendly management. The Loneliest Highway awaits.
A perfect place to stay to feed your EV!
- Andrew (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Berna (10/5): - Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful.
- Karen (8/5): - It’s deceiving from the outside, but clean & very comfy bed. The room was small but all we needed! Sign in by phone went smoothly & responded immediately to our request on check in
- mark (10/5): - loved it
- Hui (8/5): - Clean but small
- Wanitall (4/5): Good enough to crash for the night. But I don't trust people who have such obsessive hatred of dogs - First of all, most exterior pictures on the travel websites are not current. The place is painted dark gray all over. Not a cozy look to me, but whatever. The room was really small, like, live-your-suitcase-in-the-car small. Not even a chair, but, again, no big deal, good enough to crash for the night on the way somewhere. Everything was clean. Except for the refrigerator. I also didn't realize it wasn't turned on until the morning when I had to toss out all my perishables I put in. No big deal, should have paid attention. My 17 year old son woke up with a backache. Maybe it was because of the bed, maybe just a coincidence. Either way, what can you expect from a motel in a living ghost town, population 60, and the only place with lodging within a nearly 70 mile radius.
There was something else that bothered me more than any of the above. As soon as I booked it, I got an email from the owners saying that they don't allow dogs in any way shape or form because they have an elderly cat who's been attacked by a guest's fake service dog and has been traumatized. That's fine, we get it. We weren't planning to bring our dog anyway and we adore cats. Then we got a text from Expedia letting us know that, again, no dogs and that there's a law against misrepresenting your dog as a service animal. Then another text requesting that I sign a form about that. We've stayed in plenty of motels that didn't allow dogs, never encountered that kind of obsession. Must be a very special cat. We met the owner in the morning and asked about it. Turned out the cat is not even alive anymore, was run over by a car some time ago. But they kept the messages. I could see why. The way he went on and on and on about how people keep bringing dogs. He just seems to really detest dogs and their owners! And I detest being lied to. And people like that.
- Donald (10/5): - It met our expectations. A cozy room that was clean and had basic amenities including a larger size refrigerator/ freezer and direct tv. Bathroom was spacious and clean. It is not the 4 Seasons, but it is exactly what you would expect for a remote town in north central NV.
- Olga (4/5): - The place is painted dark gray all over. Not a cozy look to me, but whatever. The room was really small, like, live-your-suitcase-in-the-car small. Not even a chair, but, again, no big deal, good enough to crash for the night on the way somewhere. Everything was clean. Except for the refrigerator. - John (10/5): - The folks running the motel were friendly, helpful, and enjoyable. Austin is a very small town, yet the service, cleanliness, and amenities were the same as I would expect at a large hotel in a major tourist location. I will stay at the motel again.
- Rachael (8/5): - Staff was very nice. Clean, cute room and bathroom but very small. I could'nt get the shower off so I could take a bath. Thats huge for me especially after traveling for so long. Coming into town was like a scary movie but as you carry on through town its cute.
- Sven (10/5): - We can easily change the date, because we make a mistake by the reservation!
- Robert (8/5): - Clean n Cozy. Great Motorcycle stay
- Mark (8/5): - The property lives up to its name - cozy.
- Gregory (8/5): - Enjoy the clean, if tiny, rooms at Cozy Mountain Inn. Only one real option for dinner in town and not predictable breakfast options. Considering it’s on a main highway, noise wasn’t a big issue. Bed was just fine. Very peaceful morning drives to anywhere for first few hours.
- Johanna (8/5): - The room was clean but very small. Bathroom was also nice and clean but has older fixtures. Very quiet area, but the area is also somewhat rundown. We stayed here 13 years ago when it was painted white with blue trim and it seemed nice and cheery. Now it’s somewhat depressing with a dark blue paint all over. And there’s no one there to check in with. Call up a number and pick up the key from a key box.
- John (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful people. Check out Grandma's (restaurant), very close by. Wifi is great at both the hotel and restaurant, but my phone carrier (T Mobile) was a bit spotty in the town. (Use wifi calling??). Thanks, Brandon! Rock on!
- J & J (8/5): - Owners work hard to make everything good. They run the Grandmas’s restaurant 5 min walk.
- Lisa (10/5): Very Quaint - Great little hotel. Staff was nice and helpful. No frills hotel but very clean and easy to access. Not a lot of food options so don't expect great restaurants but the people who live in the town are very friendly and helpful. Nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable. Great for a quick stay. I would stay there again.
- PANCHALINGAM (10/5): - Very nice place to stay in the small, historical town of Austin, Nevada.
- Robyn (10/5): - small motel, clean, quiet, room has microwave, fridge w freezer, tv, air conditioning, comfortable bed, bathtub and shower.
- vimalarajpp (10/5): It is cozy! - Have stayed at this nice place twice. First time in May and then June 2025. This is the best place to stay in Austin, Nevada. The owner also operate the Granma’s restaurant a couple of blocks away. That restaurant is also best place to eat in Austin.
- Earle (6/5): Place is just okay and not as rated. - Rooms were okay, but don’t expect any dinning in the area. The only food is the gas station next to the hotel with frozen dinners you can heat up in the microwave. The gas station attendant wasn’t friendly. If you’re on the room side along hwy 50 expect lots of road noise.
- Suzanne (10/5): - Motel was very clean! Rooms are small but roomy enough. My granddaughter and I had a twin room.. bathroom had som plaster problems but again it was very clean. The only real problem I had was the hot water in the shower either didn’t work or took a very long time to work. Our neighbor said hers worked so it seemed to be a room problem and not the entire motel. I would stay again and recommend to anyone who asked.
- William (8/5): - Good, quiet.
- Eugenie (10/5): - Great
- Dave (10/5): - Quick ck-in, friendly
- Camper645007 (10/5): Great room - Room was perfect ! Cozy and everything I needed. Loved the refrigerator and microwave. Very
Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet and friendly guest. Reservation, check in and check out was very easy. I have another reservation booked next week for my trip home.
- PABLO RUBIO (8/5): - Habitación confortable para una noche, pero le falta algún servicio y mesa en la habitación
- alanhH7607DP (10/5): BEST MOTEL IN AUSTIN.... - Owners are younger (and apparently own Grandma's restaurant, bar & performance space just down Main St.) and appear to be single-handedly trying to re-vitalize Austin, which has been in general decline for quite some time. Support them. Motel is clean and well maintained. Price points are where they should be. The food at Grandma's exceeded my humble expectations--pork chops were delicious! Good way to go in Austin. I wish the owners well. Nice people. Very efficient. Good spirit and vibe.
- Jana (10/5): - Qick and pleasant
- JOSEPH (10/5): - A beautiful room with very comfortable beds!
- Shin (10/5): - Fun little town to stay
- Connie (8/5): - Easy location in Austin, comfy bed, clean bathroom.
Room is small but pleasant.
- Mark (8/5): - I have stayed here on 5 different occasions. This is first time I found the "coffee room" to be cluttered and messy. The coffee machine needed to be cleaned.
- William (6/5): - Ran out of hot water for multiple hot showers.
- krisj489 (10/5): Fine stay - Smaller room but was clean and smelt good. Also was able to watch playoffs at the end of the work day thanks to the satellite television. Had a fridge in the room and microwave for snacks. I love that it is surrounded by pines. It gives a feeling of a mountain retreat. Aptly named the cozy mountain
- SparkyOK (10/5): Not impressive but nice - Outside of motel is not attractive. Rooms are small and old but have been updated and we're very clean. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed setting on the porch in the evening to watch the deer on the mountainside.
Be sure to go to the owner's restaurant (Grandma's). The pok chops were great and their *old fashion" was tastee!
- martine (8/5): - Kind of expensive for an older building.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value. This motel provides clean rooms, clean linen, hot showers, and comfortable mattresses. You can sit outside your room and enjoy the cool evening or morning air.
Oh, don't forget to give Pepper, the resident cat, a pat on the head. She likes that.
- Josh (10/5): - A bit on the pricey side, but like the cleanliness and amenities included in the room (fridge, microwave)
- CARRIE (6/5): - Nice little place out in the middle of nowhere. The beds were comfortable and clean.
- Lori (10/5): - Their open door policy and friendliness.
- Kathy (10/5): - Recommend as the best place to stay in Austin!!!
- PANCHALINGAM (10/5): - A great cozy place. Newly remodeled. Free gold quality coffee. Clean. Nice owners.
Dog owners: no dogs allowed no exception. Owners want to protect their cat.
- Yuan (10/5): - We stopped by for one night. It’s a very quiet place. Hosts are very friendly.
- Rodante (8/5): - Space is too small
- Bryan (4/5): Gross and uncomfortable - This place is a dump. The room was so small the bed took up 95% of the room. Very run down, backed up sink, and only one lock on the door.
- paulhH9397IT (10/5): Cozy and comfortable - Very cozy. Very kind owners. There are only two motels on the town and the better of the two. They provide hot coffee, shampoo and conditioner. One should note that there is no breakfast available in the town. Austin is very quaint and far and far from the nearest town. Grandma’s is were to go for dinner down the street.
- Janice (6/5): - I don’t understand why this property was rated so highly on Expedia. We found it to be extremely funky. Old and in disrepair. It was highly overpriced for small, cramped rooms with no amenities. I will say the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Owners are trying to survive in a dying town. Very depressing
- Thomas (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay day while traversing America's Loneliest highway. Which, by the way, I found not very lonely at all, but full of amazing sights and charming little towns.
- Thomas (10/5): - It’s a very good place for Austin, NV
- garbonzo1991gt (10/5): Just as the name implies. Cozy. - Comfortable and quiet. Perfect after a long day of driving. Dirt lot across the street was convenient for parking with trailer. Beds were great. Water pressure in the shower was worth it in of itself. Check-in was effortless. Owners were friendly and infomative.
- PATRICIA (10/5): - It is cozy like the name, small but cute
- jimfS8308FZ (8/5): One Night Austin - Easy peasy...sleepy little town this time of year. Still plenty of snow from recent storm. Friendly folks and town filled with Americana and history. Hot water took a bit...just a clean bed/hot shower for the night was what I wanted and what I got.
- Ric (10/5): Comfortable and Clean. - The room was clean and comfortable. Maybe a bit higher priced due to amenities.
- Wayne (8/5): - Room was small, but bed and decor was very nice. Bed was very comfortable and clean. Would have rated higher was exterior upgrades to building and no motel lobby.
Room heat/AC fan was noisy and made it hard to get good nights sleep. No place to really eat, but needed to rest a few hours….
- Maria (8/5): - The roomcomfortables were small but clean beds were comgortable. They have microwaves and mimi refrgirators in the rooms
- January (10/5): - Strange check in (but small town okay)...no blow dryer ( normally would not be an issue as i pack one...lol but blew mine up) warm room, comfy bed is understatement the beds are awesome.
- Michael (6/5): Good night's sleep. Is there WiFi? - I stayed here once before, years ago. One issue this time that wasn't a factor years ago, is WiFi.
There was either no WiFi, or no information about the username and password. Clearer info here would be nice. Otherwise, nice stay at good value.
No TV, but actually that can be a blessing.
- Richard (10/5): - Small motel with exactly all you need for the night. No more, no less. Comfortable beds.
- richardsW3100OO (10/5): Clean and affordable spot in Austin. - Clean bathroom. Room was small but perfect for our needs. Good mattress and pillows. Laid back staff. Great heater in room. Only drawback was choice of local tv. No hbo or hulu etc. Offered good coffee in the am. Very little to do in Austin, so was blessedly quiet.
- Arthur (10/5): Responsive, cozy, clean - We were traveling on Tesla and the hotel management helped us with charging our car since the nearby charger was broken.
- Ashley (10/5): - Friendly, easy check in. Clean, quaint rooms with very comfortable beds/linens. I was looking for a throwback to the days of the roadside motels, instead of major hotel chain and the Cozy Mountain made us smile. Thank you!
- John (10/5): - Cozy, clean, convenient
- L3580HQjohnm (10/5): Visit Austin - Clean, cozy, convenient. Quaint place to stay in an adorable historic mining town. Loved a quick walk to Stokes Castle in the morning before getting back on the road. I’m looking forward to another visit in the summer when more things are open
- Reid (10/5): - Absolutely a perfect resting spot after a 12-hour drive. Such an easy check-in process and friendly owners. This is the only area I would stop at at all. I will definitely be stopping in again when I head home.
- Thomas (10/5): - Easy check in and check out
- Peter (10/5): - Our stay was perfect. We had the easiest and most efficient check in and check out. Great room. Very comfortable. We loved the high quality linen, bath towels and the softest, highest quality toilet paper. A rare find in any place.
- Dennis (10/5): - Very clean and comfy.
- Thomas (10/5): - It's just the nicest motel in Austin!
- Ryan (10/5): - Small, but very comfortable. It suited our needs perfectly, there to explore the outdoors in the area. We brought our own groceries in and would recommend this. Especially during the off-season right now, bars and restaurants are spotty at best. We enjoyed an evening of whiskey-drinking at the International but the restaurants in town were closed during our stay.
- Shannon (8/5): - Nice place to stay during hunting season
- Quinton (10/5): - Best available in town.
- Steve (10/5): - Well maintained and welcoming…especially the cat! Very well mannered and friendly (but not too friendly). We enjoyed our time.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Expectations pretty low for Austin NV and this place exceeded them. Bummed the Toiyabe Cafe was closed, but Middle gate _only_ 64 miles away. We spent four days looking for rocls and it was super nice to have a central location to spoke out from.
