Guest Reviews
- Carmela (10/5): - The location, the bedding configuration, the fireplace, the view, cleanliness, the ease of getting to the place, the space I would have loved a more powerful shower and a bigger outdoor bathtub.
- 之奇 (10/5): -
- Lynne (9/5): - The animals and stillness
- Kelli-Ann (10/5): - It was a lovely opportunity to just sit back and relax whilst taking in the local cuisine.
We immersed ourselves in the national park, beaches and tiny towns that are close.
The wildlife is literally at your doorstep. A well designed property that has executed tranquility.
- Liz (7/5): Peaceful bush setting. - The peaceful bush setting is delightful with many birds and animals visiting.
The beds and lounges were very comfortable (the dining chairs less so).
The cooking facilities were good for self catering (with the exception of storage space for non-perishable supplies).
Contact with the owner was quick and easy.
The WiFi and entertainment system were great and easy to use.
The location between major attractions in the area is generally good, however, it's more like a 4-5 km drive to Friendly Beaches, as there is not a walking track from the house to the beach. Lack of storage for clothing - I hate living out of a suitcase!
Ensuites for both bedrooms, but only one toilet shared between the two.
There are no blinds in the kitchen/dining/living area and we found the glare on the concrete floors very uncomfortable plus it was hot sitting and cooking in the sun in that room (we made almost exclusive use of the TV room instead).
The unsealed (very bumpy) driveway is 2.2 kms from the main road. We drove a hired SUV, which managed the drive at a very slow speed, but I'm not sure how a low wheel base sedan would go.
Friendly beach is not a good walking beach as the sand is too soft - great if you want to sit in the sun though.

Niets
- Tonya (10/5): - Excellent communication with hosts. Great location and very clean. The hosts supplied some lovely surprises — granola, bubbly, coffee, nut milk. The only complaint is that Expedia was a bit slow on getting the access code (never received) and wifi info before check in time, otherwise, five stars.
- Harley (9/5): -
- Queenie (6/5): - Staff friendly and house so clean
- Jennifer (10/5): Excellent peaceful stay - Excellent stay. We were very comfortable and very relaxed while staying. We had all the amenities we needed for our time there with comfortable bedding. Everything was clean and there was plenty of space to spread out. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The location was great for access to the Freycinet national park and nearby attractions.
- Jana (10/5): Remote, quite and a great spot for relaxing. - Its remote, beautiful and comfortable. Nothing.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Susannah (10/5): Fabulous and incredibly special bush escape - Spectacular views and the house was so well appointed. Nothing!
- Paul (9/5): Great house, very rough drive in - The house was spectacular but the rocky 2.45 km driveway into this remote location is unsuitable for small rental cars- this would have been good to know in advance
- Dale (9/5): Superb -
- Doris (10/5): Yes. - We LITERALLY LOVED EVERYTHING about this property. Everything was perfect, accommodating, and methodically designed. Thank you Sam and Tamzen for sharing this space! LITERALLY CANNOT think of any dislikes.
- Suzanne (9/5): Excellent property if you like to be away from everything yet short distance to nearby towns, walks, oyster tour etc - Nicely designed house. Good facilities. Very secluded yet close to activities Would be great if had a laundry facility
- Zane (9/5): Superb - Beautiful house, stunning private location. Couldn’t say a bad thing about our stay at Aplite house
- Caldaroni (9/5): Superb - The location in the forest is amazing!! Only wildlife with us!
- Kim (8/5): Very good - The views of the sunset and sounds of nature were amazing… the beds were very comfy too I wish there had been more than 1 toilet and that there was some more storage / space for luggage
- Ingrid (10/5): Exceptional - Private, home away from home. Loved the quiet space and the wildlife visits.
- Matt (10/5): Stunning and beautiful property near Freycinet - Absolutely gorgeous remote property, excellent spec and attention to detail. Beautiful views inside and out, really felt like an oasis of calm. Clearer instructions on recycling and bins would've helped, but think we worked it out.
No improvements at all to mention for the property, facilities or decor.
- Pui (9/5): Truly a memorable stay at this beautiful work of love - This is a 6 Star cottage with a raw touch of elegance. Though the deco is minimalistic, it brings out your closeness to nature. Soaking in an open air bath amidst the woods under a starry sky is heavenly. The shower is too weak. And if some kind of drawers/basket/closets can be provided to guests for shelving a few pieces of garments lest the bedrooms would look messy.
- Irina (10/5): To say that we like the stay is to say nothing - one of the best 3 days of our life - This is a very emotional place, where staying was unforgettable. An incredibly cozy house in the middle of a wild forest. Everything in the house is very nice and thoughtful. Possums come from the forest, there are a lot of kangaroos in the forest. The sea view is mesmerizing. But probably the main thing is the people who own this house. They are in touch all the time, ready to help and prompt, we are eternally grateful for all the advice, for this house, which made our stay in Tasmania incredible. Thanks to this place, a part of our soul has remained in Tasmania forever. Nothing
- Tegan (10/5): Stunning - The details are wonderful. We made full use of kitchen and didn’t want to leave. Daughter loved the pull out bed and DVD collection. Mum and Dad loved the coffee and wine. The views and feel is incredible. This place doesn’t disappoint. Zip.
- Mirik (10/5): Exceptional - This is a magic place. Every detail has been thought through and maintained to the highest standards.
- Dwayne (8/5): Very good - Peaceful. A place to just ponder life. No laundry and no second toilet.
- Han (9/5): Great stay in a beautiful designed house in the middle nature. - Beautiful house within an amazing location. The facilities in the house are great and give you everything you need -
- Jeremy (9/5): Return guest - The house itself, the views and the bushland surrounds are immaculate. It's a short drive from lots of lovely places - like Coles bay, Friendly beaches etc - but still feels quite remote and secluded
- Melih (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Stunning property, exceeded our expectations and we were disappointed we couldn't stay longer! - The property was stunning and exceeded our expectations. It was well set up with all the added extras in the kitchen for cooking meals.
- Jenny (9/5): Fantastic place to relax or use as a base for exploring the area. - The house, great layout and great views of nature. Very private and secluded.
- Catherine (10/5): - Beautiful property!! absolutely stunning and enjoying going bush bashing around the property and exploring!
The only downside to the property is i think the condition of the driveway ought to be mentioned to people in advance, as our little hatchback had a lot of trouble getting through and we definitely scraped the car a few times, i think a medium to large car would be ok.
the finishing touches were beautiful, the position of the deck for the view, all of it was beautiful!
Thanks for letting us stay.
- Claire (9/5): Relaxing, everything thought of in beautiful surrounds inside and outside of house - Wonderful, well thought out, Facillities were great, very comfortable . Very secluded, lots of nature. Very close to national park. Great coffee and range of teas. Wish it had a teapot
- Aloyah (10/5): Easily one of the best places we have ever stayed! - Absolutely stunning. Everything about this place is perfect! Hosts are incredibly helpful. We can’t wait to come again.
- Mujde (9/5): A fantastic home in a great location! - The property description was exactly what was described on the Bookings.com platform so there were no surprises or disappointments. The house is located in a beautiful quiet location surrounded by the flora and fauna of the area. The house itself is amazing, great architectural design and very functional with state of the art appliances and great styling and artwork adorning the home. The house is also very warm, beds are comfortable with great quality linen and towels. The kitchen is large and well stocked with all you need to cook up a storm with the basics required like olive oil, salt pepper, herbs etc. This is a fantastic house and I would definitely come again. Only one toilet - but there's not much that can be done about this and the water pressure in the shower feels like it's a mist - but this would not stop me from recommending this property or coming back again.
- Matthew (10/5): Great getaway with amazing views, exceptional fireplace - Great location, quiet with scenic views. Fireplace such a great touch. Short drive to vineyards and the fishing co-op for fresh seafood
- Ray (9/5): Superb -
- Teague (9/5): Superb -
- Ana (8/5): Lovely luxury stay with nature - Very easy to find, signage at most turns, easy to get the key out of the lock box. The inside was lovely and suprisingly warm. The stars were a bonus at night time, great location for star gazing. Lovely stay. The shower pressure is not great, it takes some time to wash your hair.
- Adam (10/5): Really nicely set up property and furnished accordingly -
- Iris (10/5): Exceptional - Heaps of wildlife! Very quiet, very good sleep! Nothing
- Phillis (10/5): Best time ever can’t wait to return - Wow what a lovely place to stay, just amazing. We could not have been happier staying here. Everything you need was here and more. We had a great time and really loved Tassie. Our hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond, thanks guys. We would definitely stay again and hope to return. My son wants to build a house just like this, he loved it. We were here in Tassie for his 18th birthday gift. He and his girlfriend loved taking day trips from this property. Nothing
- Sarah (8/5): We enjoyed the environment in the deck - The space was beautiful The house was VERY warm when we arrived and the opportunity for cross-ventilation was limited. The driveway was long enough to discourage trips outside of Aplite.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmel (9/5): If you need a place to unwind surrounded by Australian bush and wildlife this is your place. - The position - remote and quiet surrounded by nature.
Appreciated the architectural structure of the house.
Super comfortable with quality extras.
- Wenche (10/5): Amazing, can recommend! - Fantastic house in the middle of the nature. We saw wallabys and possums.
- Virginia (9/5): Cosy, secluded and beautiful spot to stay. - Really cosy house, secluded and quiet. Great facilities, comfortable beds and couches, kitchen well equipped. Lovely ensuite. Was a little windy on one of the nights but warm so we all had our windows open to cool down. The wind kept blowing the blinds and bedroom doors around so was a bit noisy.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vdp (8/5): We loved the place and the animals. Saw a beautiful sunset and used it as a base to explore Freycinet. - Nicely laid out, well appointed and comfortable. Plates, glasses, cooking wear all in good condition. Sheets and towels lovely. Lots of thought had gone into making Aplite House a memorable stay. No hanging space for clothes and PowerPoints inaccessible in bedroom. One toilet was annoying.
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annbent (10/5): Honeymooners or mature age travellers would be astounded by the level of luxury at Aplite House. - We loved the wildlife, including a gorgeous possum that came up to the glass window in the kitchen/dining area of the home. The views were extraordinary. The architecture and interior design of the home was brilliant. The beds were superb and ensuites for each bedroom fabulous. The kitchen facilities with 1st class coffee machine, oven, hot plate, crockery and cutlery was outstanding. As we weren't travelling in a 4WD, the travelling along the 2km driveway was a little harrowing. Rocks & stones continuously hitting the underside of our car.
The plus side was we couldn't drive any faster then 8kph, so the wallabies, echidnas and birds were safe. We suggest that you inform people that 4WDs only suitable for this stay.
- Yongkun (10/5): Exceptional - Very impressive Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Stunning national park house - Great location near the national park.
We saw amazing wildlife on the driveway down to the house (wallaby’s, an Echidna and Possum).
House is beautiful and well designed - really comfortable beds, clean and very well equipped kitchen with lots of additional touches (muesli, coffee etc) we really appreciated.
Very memorable stay would 100% recommend. Nothing. We didn’t want to leave!
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deb (9/5): Superb -
- Hugh (10/5): Fantastic place to reset and escape! - The location! The facility! Everything was well designed and it was obvious the facility tried to be eco-friendly as possible. The showers were good, however it was hard to wash just your body without getting your hair wet.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): would love to return for a longer stay - a world away. love the peacefulness the bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways are a little chilly
- Sean (9/5): Superb - Location a little more remote than expected and should have picked up supplies from Bicheno rather than Coles Bay. Enjoyed the fact the house was off grid. Single toilet was only minor wrinkle
- Simon (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay, would have loved to stay longer. would recommend for enjoying lovely landscape and nature. - Beautiful landscape. Maximises views while staying in a stylish and clever setup eco lodge. Only 1 toilet.
- David (10/5): Fantastic place. Lovd the seclusion and serenity. - Everything! Great house secluded in bushland. We will be back !
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Garry (8/5): Very good - beautiful setting in the bush. facilities were of high standard nothing
- Brentonl (9/5): Superb -
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Tristan (9/5): One with nature. beautiful spot in Tasmania! highly recommend - remote location, eco friendly house, beautiful design, really one with nature driveway as a tad iffy because of the rain and reception was spotty but that’s just nitpicking. it really is an amazing spot
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great relaxing getaway. Very quiet spot with a good view
