Guest Reviews
- Jorge (7/5): -
- Kieran (7/5): Solid, good bang for buck - Great location, friendly staff. Food was very good and big portioned. A little rundown in the rooms
- Paul (5/5): A bit basic compared to what is usual these days. - Easy access to the town centre. It was a tired pub room.
- David (4/5): Bang average rooms but friendly staff. - Staff were friendly and helfull.
Bar food and bar staff was very good. Room very old, sloaping floor, old sprung matress.
- Steve (8/5): -
- Johanna (8/5): Prima hotel - Prima ruime kamer Niks
- Brody (10/5): -
- simon (7/5): - Excellent value; good location and helpful staff
- mike (4/5): - Good location Terrible mattresses and shower
- Pauline (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Lovely friendly welcome, super food, comfortable room and great location. We booked another visit before leaving!
- Alexandra (7/5): You get what you pay for. Overall experience was accurately nice. - Good location, small private car park at the back, big room. The staff very friendly and accommodating to any needs The building is old and is understandable the wear and tear but there is a lot room for improvement.
- Robin (1/5): Try somewhere else - The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food for dinner was lovely and good value. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, the place was very old, very dirty and looked uncleaned. Carpets were stained. Wall paper peeling off. One bed was just springs and the other just hard as boards on springs.
- Kateryna (10/5): - Very friendly and supportive staff. Very soft beds, nice shower and bath.
We had a room with breakfast. The food was great!
- Theresa (5/5): Cheap but not comfortable! - Central location. Nice breakfast. Reasonable room rate. Thin horrible pillows. New mattress needed. Noisy until at least 1am.
- Debby (10/5): comfy bed and fabulous breakfast - Such a lovely stay, and the breakfast was amazing!! very welcoming and accommodating of my inexperience of staying away from home. Best Glamorgan sausages ever :)
- haiselden (8/5): - En suite facilities
Friendly staff Party noise, I never got to sleep until 3am
- Nick (9/5): Bargain. - Great place for a work stopover. Room was fine, breakfast good and the price amazing. Parked across the road no problem Nothing
- Jade (4/5): Faulty Towers. - The food was lovely, although one of our party found a hair in their dinner. The staff were polite and accommodating also. The rooms are very outdated, the beds are beyond ridiculous, every single spring was thoroughly sticking out on all 4 of the beds in our room, with only 2 of them having mattress toppers on the take the strain of how bad the beds were. The floor boards in the room left us feeling like we were going to end up in the room below us due to the drop in the floor when stood on. The pillows were wafer thin, which is no good for someone that has a bad neck or back. The shower literally trickled out although hot, it was extremely poor.
- Shaun (8/5): - Friendly staff.
- Julie (9/5): -
- Paul (3/5): Terrible experience, if I hadn't paid for the room (£77) I would have looked elsewhere immediately - Location and the Staff was the hotels best and only asset! Room wasn't prepared when I got in, bed was a mess and not made up fresh as was the room generally.
2nd room was clean but lower than basic, mattress was old spring version that hit the bed base when you pushed it slept on it, feeling the springs also. The other mattress' in the room were identical in poor quality and comfort level.
There were no lights other than the main ceiling light which were cheap oil lamp style electric ones. One was missing it's glass shade. No option to have a light on bedside cabinet.
No USB points in the room at all and very limited 13a mains sockets!
The decoration throughout the hotel is tatty, chipped paintwork, loose handrail on the stairs very disappointing!
Reception through the hatch, was more like a cleaners store room, with ladders and general cleaning and paperwork clutter scattered all over the place. Unbelievable for a guests first point of contact with the hotel. Then everything went down hill from that point!
I had a terrible night's sleep because of mattress and then at about 730am the clattering of beer barrels being loaded and unloaded outside my window!
I could go on, but what is the point!

- Carla (6/5): Good stay - Staff are lovely esp the lad with strawberry blonde hsir and the chef, I prefer to stay here because of that than over the way even tho the rooms are more up to date over the road but you carnt beat nicer staff 🥰 oh and the breakfast here is much better Rooms are very dated, shower leaks on floor outside the shower, the wardrobe in room 5 is unstable and the tv is the size of a stamp,
- Stephen (8/5): Great location, comfortable and good value for money. - Breakfast was lovely. Location fantastic. Needs updating a little.
- Arturas (7/5): Not bad... - friendly staff and good location It was a bit lacking in cleanliness, the shower didn't work.
- Champion2020 (10/5): - Staff went extramile for supporting and comforting us. Amazing stay.... Must recommend

- IAN (8/5): -
- Hefin (6/5): - Staff pleasant, good breakfast. Room in need of a good refurbishment, samall shower cubicle, not the most comfortable of beds(mattress way too thin)
- Tyrone (10/5): Great stay. Lovely spot. - Staff great. Breakfast done at nice time for us. Beers decent price NA
- Michael (8/5): -
- Hefin (6/5): - Pleasant staff.lovely breakfast room desperately needs some serious upgrading, not the most comfortable bed i've slept in(very thin mattress),
- Helygen (8/5): Going again soon. - Lovely people, very friendly, good atmosphere, right in the centre of town. Parking is an issue but to be expected.
- Sian (6/5): -
- Elisabeth (6/5): Heureusement le personnel est agréable - Bien situé dans la rue principale Vestuste, literie peu confortable, propreté limite dans la chambre
- Southam (7/5): -
- Heather (9/5): - The hotel was a little old and tatty in places but the location, staff, food and service were excellent and made up for this. It was also very clean. We had a family room as we were four adults. One of the mattresses was a little creaky and all the pillows were very flat..
- Lyn (7/5): Pleasant - Breakfast good. Dinner good. Wi-Fi free and good. Bed comfortable. Staff excellent. Parked in hotel car park. Bathroom tiles grouting needs whitening in Room 11 could do with modernising a little but it was fine.
- Dhillon (6/5): - Good location Unhelpful staff, dirty carpets
- Craig (6/5): - A central town location and great breakfast. A satisfactory stay as I was only there one night.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating.
- scott (5/5): disappointed - good food room noise from below and road
- steven (8/5): Brilliant easy to find hotel a really enjoyable weekend with a great breakfast and added bonus of a great pub and food i - Location hotel pub and food with private parking and the staff were really friendly Rooms were tired and bed mattresses were flat but the overall cleanliness was good
- Nicola (10/5): -
- Chris (7/5): -
- Vicki (8/5): Nice place to stay - Lovely service and very large room, staff were very helpful, it’s and old pub but with free parking and the price was great. Meals are good and breakfast was delicious. Lovely small town
- Tomás (10/5): - Lovely staff and owners. Looked after me and my 5 friends really well on our trip to North Wales. We will be back!!
- Darren (4/5): -
- Ben (7/5): -
- Marc (9/5): -
- Jennifer (5/5): Will not be returning - Not very much Very noisy . It was clean but looking quite shabby. Needed more power sockets. Mirror was positioned in the wrong place.
- Sian (6/5): It was ok - Location No carpet on stairs tv in room to small for size of room
- barry (10/5): - breakfast and my evening meal was lovely. had homemade lasagne and wasn't disappointed with the portion size and taste. staff was friendly and even put the football on for me whilst i was eating. very tight for parking can only get a max of 7 cars in there, but there was 2 big vans in there that minimised the parking spaces. The staff helped me park by moving the gate.
Wifi was poor.
- Owen (8/5): - Ground floor excellent. Food excelllent.
Staff friendly and helpfull. Location excellent.. The upper floor needs refurbishing badly.
Not just a coat of paint.⁸7
- Renske (9/5): - Nice big room with everything we needed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location.
- Dailly (6/5): We will be back to visit - Well kept Nothjng
- Agimol (8/5): Very good -
- Llinos (7/5): -
- Lynsey (10/5): Lovely little stay in a great location - The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, gave recommendations for places in the area to visit and did all they could to assist with any requests we had. The hotel was able to provide a vegan breakfast upon request and ensured it was ready for 8am to allow us to go to ParkRun. The room was a little dated, was very hot during the night, so we had to have the window open. It gets loud outside, so we struggled to sleep due to people leaving the local bars and shouting in the street. The toilet was temperamental and didn't flush straight away.
- Saphia (9/5): Lovely central location - Theroom was spacious I liked everything
- Barry (6/5): - No hot water, challenging parking.
- Simon (8/5): - Great location for the lake and a great breakfast before leaving Comfy room but a bit dated
- PRASHANT (5/5): - The location of the hotel is the best as it is in the high street and could get whatever we wanted. Also the staff were good good and friendly. The dissatisfaction was with the mattress as it was not comfortable as could feel the springs hurting your body. Also the room flooring was too noisy whenever we walk problem. Needs more clean floors as the carpets were too dirty.
- Sherry (6/5): - Breakfast was very basic...⁹ No yogurt, fruit or extra toast was offered.
- Justin (10/5): - Fab location, very friendly staff, very helpful and welcoming. Can't think of anything.
- Charles (4/5): - The place it's self was very nice the staff wer very polite and the breakfast was better than alot I have had at home... The bed I'm not gonna lie Iv slept on Comfier park benches to the point I couldn't sleep n even slept in my campavan outside for a couple of hours if just a little bit more effort went into the comfort of the rooms this is a really nice establishment I only slept in 1 room and I can't speak for any others but had a double bed and 2 singles and they wer all pretty much the same was about the only let down... But apart from that no other complaints nice place to visit....
- emma (6/5): - Budget stay. Room was okay but there was a horrible cheesy feet smell. Other than this it was clean and had tea/coffee facilities. Was given key and told were the room was but other than that no communication with hotel staff. Bar service was very friendly in the hotel. It was a cheap break so wasn't expecting much
- Phil (5/5): - It's located in the centre of Bala which makes it handy for all the local pubs and restaurants etc.
The staff kindly provided somewhere secure for my bike which was great.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Being in the centre, and the pub being a busy one makes it very noisy.
Bala at bank holidays seems to be the party capital of Wales! If you want somewhere handy for the bars etc and you don't intend going to sleep before 2am it's perfect!
It wasn't the right place for us, but that's not the pubs fault. I think next time we'll find somewhere outside Bala!.
- JONATHAN (8/5): - Central location to Bala. Friendly staff. The hotel just needs a long overdue upgrade. Looks and felt "tired".
I'm a coffee lover so to be initially be offered instant coffee for breakfast on day one was disappointing. However, the following day the staff thankfully got some filter coffee in for the two remaining mornings. Diolch.
- Amir (4/5): - Bad service not recommended bed conditions is not good
- Mindaugas (6/5): -
- Sophie (8/5): Lovely and well priced - Lovely breakfast and very helpful staff. Wifi good too. Tea in room well stocked. Fab location, very central with paths to the lake. A little awkward to maneuver my car under the marquee
- Maymon (7/5): -
- MUSHARAF (1/5): Very poor dirty property uncomfortably - I am very disappointed with the hotel room was dirty carpet old furniture bed sheet and quilt cover was different color mattress was uncomfortable single bed was too much noisy even u change side hallway carpet was really dirty i am not happy with it amount 125 pounds too much disgusting facilities book . Com should take this property out give bad name to booking .com my stay there was zero rating my family was upset with stay very bad no recommendations to anyone thanks Nothing bad experienced dirty promises booking.com should take this property out of their web site waste of money
- Graeme (8/5): Comfortable stay and hospitable staff - Very comfortable. Stay not over prised. Food fresh and plenty of it. Will be calling again in September The car park was a squeeze and having to wait for other guests and visitor to move their vehicles so to exist or enter the rear of the building.
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Creaky clean !!! - The hotel was very dated and creaky, but clean.
The bed could have been more comfortable and the room we had overlooked the street and the pub opposite was very lively.
Loved the breakfast!
- steve (7/5): - For a motorcycle rider for a night then value was fantastic Nothing , for the money
- Stuart (8/5): - Plas Coch is very good value for money. It's much cheaper than other local options, so you shouldn't expect luxury, but the standard was more than acceptable.
- leonie (6/5): - It’s a pub. Cheap. Friendly. Toilet didn’t flush properly, shower didn’t feel super clean and it was quite small. Bed was comfy. But it’s a characterful old pub and it’s cheap! Not many food options in Bala.
- Ray (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): - The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful, only disadvantage were the two flights of stairs up to our room which wasn't the hotel,s fault, but lovely views of the high street when we got up there !!!
- Winston (7/5): Good budget hotel - The hotel is located in a great location. Those with plenty of lakes around with stunning views. Paddle boding and canoeing experience. Great lake location for stunning views of sun rise and sun set. Easy access to other attractions in north Wales.
Loads of restaurants and hotels in walking distance.
It's more of a budget hotel. Free limited parking inside and free on street parking 6pm to 9 am.
The restaurant downstairs was nice and clean and the breakfast was fresh and nice. The room was very much dated. The bathroom didn't look clean. The extractor fan wasn't working, and the bathroom didn't have a window. The carpets were too old.
- Roger (8/5): -
- MARK (6/5): A curate's egg - It was somewhere to stay for one night. The beds were clean and comfortable. Generally the room was clean but the paint was chipped in many places and the furniture hasn't aged well. The shower had mould around the base and the bathmat was threadbare, torn and holy. The bar was okay. The staff were good. Interesting that the single beds were completely different heights/sizes.
- andy (8/5): - Another comfortable 2 night stay.
- Katarina (10/5): Great stay . - Everything you need is provided, even bisquit for your coffee .tv enough for me .I am completely satisfied with this hotel ,from rewievs I expected worse ,it is tipically welsh hotel, you can not expect luxus for such money and it has own welsh charm . In single room I did not like smoke of ciggaretts from outside.
- Helen (6/5): Good value - Location was great and staff obliging Bed was soft and squeaky. Breakfast ok but nothing special
- Jade (5/5): Passable -
- Lee (6/5): Good location and did the job at the price. - Breakfast, staff and location was great. I didn't expect a lot for £57 with breakfast. The room was dated and bed needs to be upgraded the single was in poor condition. I was travelling alone so I'm not too fussy but others may complain
- Darral (5/5): A clean and tidy hotel, but tired - Quite a nice little pub, in a beautiful town in wonderful part of Wales
The room was a good size, and clean and tidy. Bathroom was a decent size and clean and neat. The mattress was in poor condition, lumpy and you could feel all the springs when laying on it. It also was worn out and seemed angled to one side.
The floors in the room where uneven, dipped flexed and squeaked as you walked around the room.
- Lee (8/5): Very good - Blood on hallway door and walls
- andy (8/5): - Had another comfortable 2 night stay. Very friendly staff
- Neil (10/5): - Beautiful location. Excellent breakfast too
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Start off with the good points, the breakfast was very good and there’s a small car park round the back.
Bad points are the room was very dated, not shabby chic just shabby, the 2 single beds were very uncomfortable,it wasn’t the cleanest, the only window in the room opened out on to the sloping roof which made the room really dark in daylight and very humid.
- John (9/5): Just the job - Ok N/A
- Janet (6/5): Plas Coch - Location - very handy for Bala centre Staff were quite matter if fact and could have been a little more welcoming.
- John (8/5): Comfortable and great value. - Clean and tidy. Decent sized room. Breakfast good. Staff friendly. Bedroom was very warm.
- Helen (5/5): Glad it was only one night sorry but it needs some TLC - Great location Plas Coch itself was a bit sad very uncomfortable bed
- Nathan (6/5): Average, wouldn’t return. - Good location. Car had broken down so was needed Dirty, not well lit and dated
