Guest Reviews
- Erik (10/5): Feels like home - Lovely house filled with art.
Each room is unique.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Home made breakfast.
On premise parking, granny charger for your electric car.
Central location.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Beautiful heritage home with an amazing host - This place is a lovely mansion surrounded by peaceful gardens and is a short walk to the major champagnes houses or the town centre. The host is welcoming and lovely, the rooms are comfortable and spacious and the breakfast provides a delicious array of fruits, French delicacies and freshly baked rolls. A romantic getaway that will be much better for your marriage than a Coldplay concert… This is a heritage home so don’t expect new facilities, but is lovely, comfortable the service is impeccable
- Claire (7/5): Brilliant location, friendly host, clean and comfortable. Pricey but understandable given the house and location - Fabulous chateau type property. Very beautiful and atmospheric. Loved staying there.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - Staff, Building, History Bed too soft and uncomfortable for two
- Matt (9/5): Superb -
- Nigel (8/5): Friendly hotel in a lovely house a short walk from the centre of this famous Champagne town. - We had the optional breakfast each day as the hotel is a walk away from the centre of the town (although it's a fairly short walk) and being in the hotel was more convenient. The breakfast was good quality although there is no cooked breakfast option.
The location of the hotel is good being about 10/15m away from the centre of town including the Avenue de Champagne. East access to nearby wine villages and towns including Reims to where there is a good train service with the station in Epernay being only 15/20m walk. The fact that the hotel has its own parking is a main attraction. The gates are closed when staff aren't present so it's secure.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We noted when booking that there is no air conditioning in the hotel which we were worried might be an issue. However, despite the hot weather during our stay our room was fine. This may have been because we got the morning rather than afternoon sun. There was a fan which we used on one day and we didn't need more.
There is no bar or restaurant (other then the breakfast room) but you know that when you book and the town is near with plenty of options (although during the summer it's advisable to book in advance for the more popular restaurants as they get booked up). There is no restriction on bringing your own food and drink back and there is some seating in the garden to enjoy.
- Catriona (3/5): I would not choose to stay here again and would not recommend it. - Location is good.
Parking off street is good - but low ground clearance cars struggle to get in and out over uneven surface at entrance. No English spoken by lady at check in. Not made to feel welcome. The bedroom has no bedside tables and few sockets to plug into and all inconveniently placed. No air conditioning. No showers screen or curtain so taking a shower inevitably means soaking the bathroom. Breakfast - nothing offered cooked but continental options were adequate. Beware of being charged by hotel if you’ve already paid for the reservation. I spotted the error when the lady tried to charge us at reception. She blamed her colleague.
- Heidi (8/5): Very comfortable and friendly stay within walking distance of champagne houses. Parking easy. - Continental breakfast offered for 18 euros. Fresh produce, and friendly atmosphere. n/a
- Sandinshoes (8/5): ValerThe welcome from Valerie could not have been warmer or more helpful. Apologies your name right! - Decor - original art! Period pieces! Books in room! Excellent bathroom towels and nice amenities.
Quiet surroundings. Big trees on property. I would have preferred a fan to the chiller that I didn't know how to use. (3rd floor room).
If the garden were a bit more cared for, this would be a jewel.
Short walk to town but immediate neighborhood hardscaped and industrial.
- Michael (10/5): Decent but pricey. - Decent Bit pricey.
- Sylvia (8/5): Very good - Lovely Continental breakfast Stairs!
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- David (9/5): Delightful hotel in an excellent location with a charming and welcoming hostess Valerie. - Beautiful old building with interesting artwork. Each bedroom had a different theme eg Colonial, Tuscany, Provence. Good, varied cold breakfast with home made yogurt. Easy walk into centre with good choice of restaurants and bars. No coffee or tea making facilities in the bedroom.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abi (7/5): Lovley position for epernay, but nothing to see in epernay except champagne house after champagne house, which is great - Beautifully decorated inside, location was great. Breakfast was lovely, staff were great. No air conditioning and was boiling hot. No tea or coffee making facilities, no fridge in the room. Hotel had no restaurant so could have put a fridge in the room yo chill our own drinks.
- Lisa (10/5): We loved our stay and hope to return one day. - Charming mansion! Perfect location to walk to the main champagne area and village.
- Atul (6/5): Pleasant -
- John (9/5): Superb - Lovely welcome; exquisite house. Good breakfast. One of the rooms did not have a proper shower; shame and easily fixed.
- Anna-rose (8/5): Wonderful. - Location was insane, so close to Ave de Champagne. The property is much better than it looks in the photos. Our room was so quiet and was a little oasis. The staff kept the room as cool as they could and provided a fan (we stayed during a mini heatwave). Staff very helpful in leaving our bags there for the next day.
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Penelope (9/5): Superb -
- Wanda (8/5): Very good -
- Trudy (6/5): Nice ambience but overpriced - Lovely old building with character, but in need of upgrading. Good secure parking, which was why we chose it. Cheap beds and bedding, tiny toiletries. Breakfast was very simple for euro18.
- Rémon (8/5): Very good - The hotel, the whole ambiance.
- Jane (7/5): Very pleasant. Valerie is lovely and helpful, close to the Avenue de Champagne . - The breakfast was not a good value though we did not see many options in the area. Clos Raymi was very clean and had very interesting art. The only thing I didn't like was the bath/shower combo. Really could not use it as a shower. Also, and this wasn't only at Clos Raymi...there is only a duvet but no top sheet. The room was warm so no need for a duvet but a sheet would be nice.
- Risto (9/5): Nice place to stay when visiting Épernay - Cosy and quiet
- Gaynor (8/5): Charming place and lovely breakfast - It’s a lovely place to stay and Oliver the cat is enchanting No lift , when you have a room on the top floor
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): A wonderful homely hotel close to the centre of Épernay - A great hotel within walking distance of the centre and the champagne houses. The greeting from Valerie was so friendly and welcoming. The room, Provençal, was lovely, high ceilings, a very comfy bed and great shower. We stayed in this hotel 8 years ago and it felt like coming home. The breakfast was very good with fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses and a lovely boiled egg. We will return but not leave it 8 years this time! Nothing!
- Daniel (10/5): Super lady managing the place. Good towels. Wonderful frash breakfast. Great central location. - Super lady managing the place. Good towels. Wonderful frash breakfast. Great central location.
- Catherine (7/5): Good - Lovely building, secure parking. Lovely host. No air con. Rooms very small, Really not good value for the price we paid.
- Brian (10/5): A wonderfully comfortable and hospitable overnight stay. - The property is a beautifully presented town house with secure parking in the courtyard. Inside, everything was clean, tidy and again, immaculately presented. We were greeted on arrival by Madame who was as delightful as she was helpful. We had a lovely en suite bedroom which was understated and very comfortable indeed. Breakfast was quite excellent in the lovely dining/breakfasting room. We were a five/six minute walk from the centre (and tourist information office) which allowed us enjoy dining in Epernay with ease. We could not fault the property and hospitality extended to us and we would stay again given the opportunity.
- Erwin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (9/5): Comfortable, lovely character rooms, great location - Location perfect as less than 5 min walk to Avenue de champagne, beautiful room, comfortable , very clean. Character, gated parking and secure , lovely helpful staff
Good continental breakfast Our room was very comfortable but the bathroom definitely needs a shower curtain. It would be so lovely if they sold champagne so we could have a drink in the living room!
- Charles (9/5): Superb - Beautiful old home. Excellent location.
- Glynn (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, parking and lovely building. Sound proofing between rooms/floors and lack of shower curtain/screen on the bath.
Very creaky floors, and doors that are so old(characterful yes) that there are gaps between door and frame and you can hear everything that everyone else is doing in their rooms and as they are coming and going.
There was a huge amount of noise at night during my stay, I believe a guest got locked in a bathroom and couldn't get out, however nobody from the hotel seemed to be on site and they had to phone the emergency services for outside help. Had a really poor night's sleep before a 600 mile drive home, and I feel for the person locked in the room.
The house has great character, but I think some of that should be sacrificed to update the soundproofing, doors and locks, if it's to be used as a hotel.
- Hilary (5/5): Passable - There was an incredibly unruly guest all no and there is no management on the property after 7:30pm. Ultimately someone came in around 2:00am to stop this idiot who kept us up all night long.
- Aleksandar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jack (8/5): Really nice and relaxed atmosphere. Loved the cat Oliver -
- Alina (10/5): Very cozy hotel with friendly atmosphere - Wonderful and cozy hotel with atmosphere of a little chateaux. Beautiful house, very welcoming hosts. Super friendly cat Oliver, who meets the guests! 😊 Very comfortable beds! Hotel has its own parking in the yard. We had also wonderful breakfast with regional products. Hotel is situated right over the corner from the main Champaign houses and perfect for the Champaign exploring trip. We will definitely come again! Nothing
- Marit (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic hotel, close to the city center, excellent parking and super friendly staff! Always stay here when we visit Epernay!
- Sue (4/5): Sadly disappointed - The hotel decor is fabulous, mid century furniture. The breakfast was great.
Car parking with locked gates It is not close enough to the town of Epernay. It’s a 10 - 15 minute hike uphill which isn’t what we wanted after a pleasant meal.
The WiFi was so weak we were unable to stream anything so had to resort to the TV which only has French channels.
There’s no tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel seems family-owned. We were travelling during off-season and had chance to experience full calamity of the place. The hostess offered us several rooms to personally choose from. We really appreciated home-feeling of the place, as well as the authenticity of the villa. We specially enjoyed the evening spent in the living rooms reading books by the fireplace.
- Ghislaine (9/5): Very comfortable - A really nice find Valerie was really charming and helpful
- Sally (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): A unique place to stay. - Charm, elegance, relaxing, lovely breakfast too. Lovely staff, made us feel at home. Right in the centre of town.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - The location was very close to the centre of Epernay; easy walking distance, and yet was a 'traditional' French town house. The outlook was a bit industrial, but that goes hand in hand with its location.
- Jayesh (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely decor and superb location for main champagne houses . Valarie our host was lovely and helpful .
Jay
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (10/5): Loved it and will definitely come back for a longer stay. - The hotel was wonderful, in a quiet but 5 minute walk to town location and the lady looking after us went out of her way to make us feel welcome and as if we were home from home. Can't recommend this hotel enough. Superb
- Marit (10/5): Always lovely atmosphere - Everything
- Monica (9/5): Perfect place to walk around - The cat! And one of the workers was extremely nice, funny and helpful. We enjoyed her. One of the workers couldn’t or wouldn’t speak English to us, which itself was not the problem. But the problem was that we had accidentally let the cat outside. The worker seemed very panicked about it. That was very uncomfortable. It was the communication difficulty related to the cat escape that bothered us because we didn't understand if that was permitted or normal. We tried to help get the cat back inside. Luckily, he eventually came back. But I would recommend more information re: whether the cat is allowed to go outside.
- Peter (6/5): Clean and adequate. Consider other options. - The staff was wonderful. I felt that this particular place suffered in comparison to one where we stayed before and 2 after. The room was small and tight but adequate. It was hard to move around with 2 suitcases on the floor. But all of the other aforementioned places included breakfast whereas this facility did not. We walked into town to a boulangerie for breakfast. I just felt that for what we were paying, it wasn't a great deal. Small room. No breakfast [this was known beforehand].
- Arie (10/5): Beautiful place, well kept, nice owner - Nice and quiet place, couple of 100 meters out of the city center. Kind owner, good breakfast. Bathroom new and good. It was all nice
- Glenn (8/5): Very good -
- Gill (9/5): Delightful- good location and warm welcome - Lovely old house with a welcoming feel,
Delicious breakfast, gated parking close to town centre - would recommend. Nothing
- Stella (6/5): Lovely old building with interesting decor; lovely breakfast. -
- Richard (5/5): Friendly, over priced? - Friendly welcome, lovely looking building and spacious lounge Room was tired (exhausted), bathroom very small with bath only and strange conservatory style ceiling so using at night flooded bedroom with light.
Location not as close to centre as thought, but quiet residential street with secure parking a plus
- Roberto (8/5): Very good -
- Janette (9/5): Superb -
- Gareth (8/5): Nice stay near to the town centre in a character building with friendly host. - Character property with a friendly host. Comfortable room not too far from town centre. Very good breakfast. Nothing.
- Lucy (10/5): A perfect French b & b - This hotel feels truly French in a wonderful and authentic way. Each room is differently designed but equally gorgeous. There’s a lovely cat who greets you at the hotel and it’s run by two lovely women. This hotel exceeded our expectations from the photos and the listing - we would absolutely stay there again.
- Miyako (9/5): Cozy and relaxing - Atmosphere and breakfast
Clean Nothing
- Stephen (9/5): A quiet and small hotel, within walking distance of the town centre. - Very friendly staff. Secure parking behind gates that were closed at night At the time of our visit, some of the roads between the hotel and the center of Épernay were closed for resurfacing
- David (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very good -

- Dion (8/5): Very charming place to stay and would definitely stay again -
- Vera (9/5): Superb - Beautiful building, rooms and grounds
- Jacques (8/5): Very good - Very nice but no elevator bi CJ CJ
- Charles (7/5): Quaint house, full of history and character - The house was quite historic and charming. It was very well decorated and spotlessly clean. The room was well appointed. The window had to be opened because it was so hot, but the road noise was very loud, with ear plugs it was fine to allow you to sleep, otherwise it would have been too noisy.
- Berendina (9/5): Perfect location, truly lovely staff, lovely room - Absolutely beautiful home and. Madame and her staff are lovely, so is Oliver the cat. The room was charming and the breakfast was good too. Lovely central location. Would definitely stay there again. Really enjoyed it. Nothing! Though being British, I’d love a kettle in the room….
- Anthony (3/5): Stifled and stuffy - Breakfast was OK
Very unfriendly Atmosphere Light Music , Joy , and a general feeling of life was sadly missed here.
- Sander (3/5): Poor -
- Derval (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (8/5): Perfect location for a short stay in Epernay… - The location- the staff (Valerie was the perfect host) - very quaint with very secure parking… the price was very good compared to other similar properties… Lack of coffee and tea facilities… (minor detail)
- Simon (7/5): Lovely location, we took the recommend for a local champagne house tour which was excellent - Lovely property and the staff were very helpful and accommodating The room was quite small for two, very hot on the top floor and could do with a kettle to make hot drinks
- David (8/5): Very good -
- William (10/5): It was an excellent stay in a beautiful hotel with friendly and attentive staff. - The building was beautiful, the gardens charming, the interior was perfect and the room comfortable, well equipped and very comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff kind, friendly and helpful There was nothing to dislike
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Rhona (8/5): A beautiful old house with a warm welcome and good service. - Beautiful old house a 15-minute walk from the centre of Epernay. Free parking on site. Warm welcome from the manager who gave us some information on restaurants in town. Good breakfast. Enjoyed the company of Oliver the cat! Room was quite small but it was called 'Cosy'!
- Nicola (8/5): Charming and convenient. - The location was perfect for walking into Épernay and very close to avenue de champagne. Also very good as it had secure parking. Nothing really, it was all good but we didn’t have the breakfast.
- Andy (1/5): Dreadful - Parking! Very slow to no response to messages, had to call as we had lost an hour waiting but then only talked in French.
Upgraded our room as too small for two people but charged 60€ said they tried contacting me but that wasn’t true.
No A/C and fan noisy, shower useless and staff unhelpful.
Worst stay in our tour through France. This isn’t a hotel it’s an AirBandB and not a good one either.
- Adrian (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Valarie was very friendly and welcoming and gave excellent recommendations for things to see and do in Epernay and the surrounding area.
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Cienkus (8/5): Boutique hotel with charm and value
Wonderful host. Comfortable beds and pillows. - Wonderful host, beautiful old home as a hotel with nice outside seating and grounds. Good location to everything but still quiet. No elevator for our bags was the only downside. no fans in the room but we also didn't ask if they had any.
- Rosalie (9/5): Superb - We were confident the hotel would be perfect for us given the excellent reviews online. The staff was most welcoming and helpful with information of area, restaurants, etc. The photos are very accurate. It was 39C all day yet the room was nice and comfortable. They don't have A/C (historical site and can't be changed) but the tower fan in room was just perfect. IN afternoon we opened huge windows in room to look out on their garden with total privacy. Only thing that could have increased our pleasure would have been a cup of coffee available in room (nespresso type) first thing in morning. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back. Oliver the cat rules the hotel. Nothing.
- Campbell (5/5): Passable -
- Cherry (10/5): A lovely hotel, close to the Avenue de Champagne, very convenient for the Tasting Experience! - Everything Nothing
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Generally a nice place. Could not get the electric charge point to work.
- Keith (9/5): Met our expectations - staff were particularly helpful and friendly One room was small with only a hand shower
