Guest Reviews
- Angela (8/5): - Even though the hotel itaelf is dated, the rooms were clean. The beds were newer. I loved the balcony. We did have an issue upon check-in; but they calmly resolved it for us
- Susan (10/5): - Bed comfortable
Quiet and Safe👍
- Valerie (2/5): - The room was smelly and the halls reeked of tobacco smoke. They said they had a continental breakfast but it was far from it They had a couple of Bagels, a bit of cereal and a loaf of bread. other items were in the freezer still frozen. No muffins or croissants. will never book there again
- Theo (4/5): Not returning - This is obviously an older hotel. In its time probably quite nice. The pool and spa were empty and probably had been for quite some time. No elevators in the building. Carpets were worn and the smell of smoke in our room. Beds and towels were clean and facilities were usable. Continental breakfast is very minimal. Second day we just had breakfast out as there isn't a lot more than coffee and maybe toast there, oh, and two types of kids cereal.
- Deborah (6/5): - It was okay. Very OLD hotel. Pool and atrium area not maintained. Will NOT return.
- Dean (10/5): - I needed a place to stay traveling across Canada and tis came up on Expedia..Read some reviews..some good some bad..You cant please everyone. For the price it is hard to beat. Would definitely stay there again..Its dated to a certain degree but very comfortable..
- Margot (8/5): - Clean and a goooddD comfy bed.
- Joanie (8/5): - Older but comfortable peaceful rest. Best shower I had in a hotel this year
- Merv (2/5): - property is run down and needs millions in reno and repair
- Eduardo (10/5): - Excellent
- Kelly (10/5): - We were a little apprehensive as it is a much older Hotel, but the Staff and their service made it great! Taking into account that back in it's historical days, it was a Luxury Hotel, we decided to appreciate the ambience and character of the property. The staff were amazing and helped us with every request we had, both front desk and in the lounge.
- Lorenzo (10/5): - Great place lovely room service.
- Jen (10/5): - Clean space, friendly staff
- bev (10/5): - The staff was amazing. Had an excellent time and would book again.
- James (10/5): - Kind of dated but good enough
- Shane (2/5): - Dirty, run down and smelled like cigarettes and weed smoke.
- Katie (10/5): Friendly staff breafast included for under $100 - The hotel is dated..but for ,$100 for 3 ppl, including breakfast was awesome. Very friendly staff even the owner talked to us. Its an old hotel with lots of character. Will definitely go back when in that area. Clean bed and shower was all we needed breakfast incl was a bonus.
- Michael (10/5): - If you’re looking for the best place to stay while you’re working in town, this is hands down the best place to stay, a meal ticket for a free meal everyday at the bar attached to the hotel, and genuinely good food on top of that, a filling meal and a place to stay for under 100 bucks, you can’t go wrong, anytime I’m in drayton this will be the place I’m booking
- Alison (8/5): - The cost of the room was reasonable and we ended up with a room with a king bed vice 2 queen beds
Hotel was clran but dated
- Kenneth (8/5): - Decent for the price
- Kenneth (8/5): - It’s an older property, however it was decent for the price
- Verified traveler (6/5): - friendly staff but a very old facility
lots of parking
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property is older, the double beds a little uncomfortable, but the bathroom was spotless.
- Kavita (2/5): Worst hotel - Worst night of life. The bathroom was not clean, bedding had dirt stains on it. Duvet had burn holes and it’s a non smoking room
- SabineB465 (10/5): Great value - The management is friendly and professional. This is a no-frills, clean hotel and I like the fact that you can park right outside your room and you still have access to the lobby from the inside (2 doors). It’s definitely worth the money. The money you save could buy you a nice breakfast somewhere in town and there’s tons of great places to have breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Would not go back, walls, box spring, carpet dirty.
- Duncan (8/5): Westwind Hotel - Drayton Valley - Inexpensive comfortable rooms with included breakfast and dinner. Older, large 3 story hotel with rooms facing inwards to empty pool/hot tub, or outwards to street/countryside. Attached restaurant/lounge with free dinner (probably for limited time) and continental breakfast. Helpful cheerful staff. Clean comfortable large room. Used by oilfield crews so there is often dirt tracked into the common areas but these are kept clean as best as possible.
- RockyR_13 (8/5): Best working mans hotel in Drayton Valley - Excellent free hot or cold breakfast included in room price. Good food in restaurant and bar. Some mattresses need to be replaced. Some plug ins for vehicles in winter.Large parking lot at rear of hotel and smaller parking lot at the front just off the street, more than enough room for all the guests. Right next door to Sobeys so convenient to get food for lunches and or snacks. Swimming pool not operational when I was there .Stayed there off and on for work over the past 3-4 years.
- DavidB267 (6/5): decent budget motel but noisy - This is an older motel that was in fairly good shape. Beds were a little hard, but comfortable enough. Our room was comfortable and clean with only a slight smell of stale cigarettes from years gone by. The room was non-smoking which is a must for us. We left the sliding glass door open for a while and that took care of the lingering smell. Plenty of hot water and night clerk was fairly nice enough to let us see a room before purchase. The price of this room was half as much as most of the other hotels in town. The only real down side to the place was the bar that was located in the lower level. At around 1 am we heard an ungodly bunch of screaming/banging and yelling as several of the guests headed to their rooms which turned out to be just down the hall from our room. The bar was located near the front desk and this group had to travel past the night clerk. This ruckus continued and became even louder as the group landed in the room down the hall. I had to get up and dressed then go down to have a word with the 5 young men and 3 women involved. They quieted down and we were able to sleep the rest of the night. However, the hotel staff was of no help. I mentioned it to the clerk in the morning during check out and received a cursory apology, but not much in the way of real concern. I would guess that this was not an isolated incident. We would probably pay the extra money to stay in one of the less rowdy hotels if you ever stay in this town again.
- Oilwife07 (8/5): Great stay.... - I'm staying with my boyfriend while he's working and for an older place it was a great stay... The lady at the front desk is very kind and helpful she will do whatever it takes to make you stay better and as for the house keepers the one I met was very nice, breakfast each morning couldn't be better! Overall I'm happy with my stay.
- Turner8787 (2/5): Unsafe and sketchy - My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 weeks. In that time my visa mysteriously went missing from my back pack, and on the last day there we came back in the mornin from work to pack up for days off unexpectedly and our room door was propped wide open and no cleaning lady in sight. Our room was ripe for the picking. Laptop and all. After five minutes she showed up. To put the cherry on the cake I went to grab my ID and debit card from my pocket of my jeans from the night before and low and behold...not there. That's three cards in three weeks. Stay away from this motel!! It absolutely reeks like pot everywhere inside. No fan in the bathroom. The carpet floors were disgusting. The door was crooked and left a huge gap on the top to the hallway. I could go on and on. Brutal
- miladymar (10/5): Totally awesome .. a home away from home! - My husband and I have stayed in many hotels/motels over the years and we have to say that the atmosphere and the friendly staff made this one of the most memorable we have yet experienced.
I have to commend the cleaning staff because they were exceptional and took the time to make sure that we were well looked after.
The front desk personnel were also friendly and very helpful and made certain we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The restaurant served us an amazing breakfast every morning we were there and the staff gave us truly exceptional service!
To be honest I cannot say enough great things about this home away from home. They are working on upgrading and the suite we were in has all new fixtures and there was plenty of hot water. Apparently there were rig crews in but we did not hear a thing even though they were a level below us.
Over all I would highly recommend you join the Westwind Motor Inn family... you will not be disappointed nor will you regret it.
- jaxon83 (2/5): DUMPY...UNFRIENDLY... - My recent stay here was terrible. I didn't know I was in Korea town when I walked through the doors. The front desk clerk was very lazy, she couldn't even be bothered to get off her chair to greet us, she was also too busy playing on her cell phone...VERY unprofessional. Although that must be a hotel policy to play on your cell phones because the bar staff were doing the same thing instead of serving their customers. The rooms smelled of mold and just looked neglected and like no one cared what they looked like. This is all just a result of a poor General Manger and Owner.
Its really too bad that this hotel is like this because Drayton Valley is from what I seen a good little town. And this dumpy hotel is in a good location but unfortuantly just silly owners who dont have enough money to give this hotel what it needs some TLC
I'm telling everyone out there now DO NOT EVER WAIST YOUR MONEY please go and spend the extra 40 dollars and get a nicer more pleasureable stay somewhere else.
DUMPY...UNFRIENDLY...SMELLY...POOR EXCUSE FOR A HOTEL
- VisitorfromOntario9 (10/5): Great place to stay - We spent 5 nights at the Westwind and were well pleased with everything. Staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The food in the restaurant was excellent and full breakfast from the menu is included in the room rate. There is a lounge/bar that was busy each night but we were never bothered with any noise. We even joined the young people there on Wed night for wings (absolutely delicious). We declined to join in with the kareoke......The only down side is a lovely pool area with a pool that is closed. Exercise room is good though......
- Belldandy (8/5): Good price and good food - When I saw this review I hesitate to go in but it's totally different from what its wrote down.
They said owner is changed last year and all room is renovated. Room has good flat TV and clean room. And right now it has good promotion room price $69 with morning buffet include. Although the pool is closed now, other service is great compare the price.
So if you wanna stay in drayton valley, it's worth to stay in west wind motel
- Mama_bear85 (2/5): Very disappointing! - We stayed one night at the Westwind Motor Inn and were very disappointed to discover a run down hotel. The front entrance was littered with garbage, the awning was falling down, we encountered a rude, unfriendly desk clerk, there were torn, freyed carpets in the hallways, peeling paint and badly stained carpets in the room and our non-smoking room smelled badly of cigarettes. I should mention however that the clerk who checked us out in the morning was quite friendly. On our way out the door we had to walk through an enclosed smoke filled foyer. A staff member was smoking in the entrance! Since a couple of us are allergic to smoke we were not impressed.
This hotel is in bad need of an entire renovation and a new night desk clerk. We booked another hotel in the same town and paid $20 more per night for a clean, new, modern, comfortable hotel which included continental breakfast. The Westwind is a rip off - the price they are charging considering the condition of the hotel is outrageous! We will never stay there again.
- PattiM-Cda (2/5): What a horrible place! - We were to attend a wedding and the hotel we had stayed in on our last trip was totally booked. So we used the internet to find another hotel in Drayton Valley which came up with the Westwind. I called and booked the room for 2 nights and asked about the amenities with respect to internet in the rooms, pool etc.
When we got to the hotel I was shocked at how shabby it was and I thought it could use a good cleaning. However, the wedding was the next day so we checked in...how bad could it be we said.
We go to our room it is just off the lobby. As I walk in I am too stunned to even speak! The ceiling above my head is just 6 inches above me and being held in with sheet metal screws!!! The smell hit us first then the heat of the room as the air conditioning wasn't working. It was in the high 80F out and the room was sweltering...so we turn down the thermostat as far as it can go. I check out the bathroom. I see this white stuff all over the tiles around the tub and around the sink. At first I think it is a real badly cleaned up grouting job but closer inspection shows it to be mold!!!!!
I march back to the front desk and tell her our room is unacceptable! It is the only room they have she says. I ask if she has ever been in the room before and she says she had not. So I take her in.....she is as stunned as we were. I tell her I will not pay $120 a night for this as a Motel 6 would be a better value. I asked for our VISA imprint back and she does not argue.
She then tells me that it is probably best that I didn't stay. As the hotel is full of oil rig workers and they always get rowdy at night. Every night for the past while there has been a fight outside our room. She apologizes and I thank her for that.
We ended up at the GreenWood Inn in Edmonton (an hour away) for approximately the same money a night and it was extraordinary.
