- Theresia (10/5): Great bnb to stay while exploring Valdez - Everything!!! Lorna and Bill were amazing hosts! Their house was so comfy and tidy and beautifully decorated, you can tell they really detailled, we had an amazing stay there
Entire 1st floor was free for guests to use, including massage chair, washer n dryer, and kitchen with coffee, tea and fridge with basic breakfast foods like boiled eggs, apples n oranges, breads, muffins n bagels
Our room was comfy n warm with nice bathroom NOTHING!!!
- Sudipta (9/5): Recommend specially there are crusises to keep away from the crowd - The host was amazing. Amenities were great and there is a massage chair for anyone to use. Just a me thing, I was not expecting like a home with rooms and common area. It was not an issue at all as the host was amazing.
- Deborah (10/5): -
- Elzbieta (10/5): - Clean, comfortable stay and kind host. Lots of amenities like breakfast and laundry. Advised us on trials in the area.
- Jane (10/5): - Very homey. Super friendly and nice owners.
- Kelly (4/5): KOA - KOA campgrounds come to mind. Bed is cheap mattress on top of metal frame. Shower is only big enough for a Smurf.

- James (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (10/5): Home away from home in Valdez - We left Valdez for our last place to visit during our wonderful trip to Alaska. And what a place this is! Amazing, scenic, stunning! Of course, where you stay adds to the experience and The House on the Rock did that in a very positive way. This B&B is located in a quiet neighborhood about 15 to 20 minutes walking distance from downtown. The room was clean and comfortable. We Enjoyed our breakfast, a selection of cereals, muffins, bread, fruit, juices, yogurt, etc. in the dining area while browsing through the many books on the history of Valdez and the area.
The check-in was easy and the hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable about Valdez. Lorna gave us some ideas about trails, restaurants and tips to stay safe while hiking. Also, we enjoyed the conversations about her first-hand knowledge of situations encountered during her travels around the world.
If we visit Valdez in the future, we’ll definitely stay at The House on the Rock B&B.

- Joseph (8/5): Very good - The hosts were nice. Room was comfy. Breakfast was DIY, but lots of options. The pillow was thin, which I personally love. The only minor complaint my wife had was the beds were a bit hard.

- Brett (10/5): Great place to stay. Massage chair an added surprise bonus! - Very nicely set up for clients. Rooms and kitchen area very nice.
- Tom (6/5): - Please dont call this a bed and breakfast. Its more of an extra room in a basement with a box of cereal.
***No air conditioning****
It was pretty warm and there is no thermostat in the room or ducting for that matter.
- Jones (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic.
- Ronald (9/5): Superb - Nice and clean room. Close to activities.Very friendly and helpful host. Enjoyed meeting the other guests.
- Jamie (10/5): - Lisa was a great host. Lots of options for breakfast, enjoyed meeting other guests from different parts of the country and world. Room was clean and quiet with a nice en suite bathroom. Very close to the harbor and multiple dining options.
- Chirag (10/5): Exceptional - A very homely experience and friendly owners . Elegant decor of rooms on theme of Bear Eagle and Moose . Hearty breakfast . All good
- Rafael (6/5): Pleasant - Common area. Heavy cleaning products used caused us both to cough for a couple of hours until room was aired. Mattress. Carpet on the floor.
- Rebecca (8/5): The place is very clean and the hosts were very friendly and helpful! - The breakfast was alright. But not as good as many breakfast buffets. There were lots of choices though, just no meats and waffles etc were the kind you store in the freezer and put in the toaster. The eggs were hard boiled only. We were okay with it though. The pillows were pretty flat. The beds were comfortable but I had a hard time getting the pillows situated so I could sleep. I should have brought my own.
- Roberta (9/5): Superb - Lovely host, great breakfast offerings, comfortable room!
- Richard (8/5): nice -
- Tomas (9/5): Good stay. - Friendly host and good facilities including free to use laundry. Breakfast was self serve cereals and toasted items. No cooked options.
- Abigail (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (7/5): Comfortable and affordable stay in a good location. - The beds were comfortable and the common area was nice. Breakfast had an array of options and the owners were very nice. Plus a bonus massage chair. Found someone else’s clothes in multiple drawers of the dresser.
- Garima (5/5): Passable -
- Jobie (10/5): - The folks that own the place are really nice and made the stay very enjoyable. The house is very clean and the rooms have plenty of space. It was often so quiet in my room, I thought I was the only one there.
- Jennifer (10/5): - This was a very comfortable place to stay.
- Sherri (9/5): Superb - Great breakfast and hosts were very friendly and welcoming!
- Gail (10/5): - Good sized room with private bath. Huge common area with living room, dining area and kitchen. A bonus was the free laundry with complementary detergent and softener. Although all four rooms were in use I felt as if I had the place to myself. That’s a good thing! This property had to be the most immaculate B and B, hotel, motel or inn that I’ve ever stayed at. Well stocked with all the amenities that you’d expect. I found the price to be very reasonable, less then hotels that didn’t offer everything that The House on the Rock did.
- Eunice (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (8/5): Homey place to stay - We had a clean, quiet room and a nice assortment of store-bought breakfast items available to us in the communal kitchen. The owners were nice and welcoming. The mattress was quite soft, the pillows were thin and firm. The showers were rather small, but plenty of warm water.
- Janner (10/5): - Fantastic
- Carl (10/5): A delightful stay in a quiet neighborhood close to the center of Valdez. - This is an exceptional property located in a quiet residential neighborhood. The property owners made you feel like a part of the family. There was nothing to dislike about the property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Warm and cozy stay in Valdez - This is a very warm and cozy stay. The room and bathroom were very well set up. There was a common area to eat at. We ended up heating up food from the local Safeway for lunches and dinners and there was an assortment of breakfast options available. Valdez is a small town so it is easy to take a break from local sightseeing and come back to rest and recharge.
We drove in from Wrangell–StElias NP and left via the ferry to Whittier.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb - What a great place to spend a few days and explore the area. We appreciated the welcome basket with breakfast goodies and along with the hospitality of the owner.
- Bharat (8/5): Overall very good. - Location Sharing concept of kitchen and house with other guests in adjacent rooms and host living on above floor. Now this is just our family’s view, perhaps othered may not mind this.
- Emmanuelle (8/5): Great place to stay in Valdez - The hospitality, talking with the owners , the tip to visit Valdez Bed mattress are not firm enough
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Quiet, close to everything, clean. Only a self serve high carbohydrate continental breakfast, short on protein, berries and fresh fruit.
- Cynthia (8/5): - The property and staff were excellent.
- Woodworth (10/5): Exceptional - These people & this B&B are just incredibly warm & welcoming,,, really wonderfully peaceful and it could not have been a more pleasant experience!!!! The only thing we weren't thrilled about is that we had to go home so soon😁
- Jill (8/5): Valdez is a lovely little fishing town. - Reasonable price. Great breakfast display. Good location. Pillows were flat.
- Janet (10/5): Wonderful. - Nice. Stay was too short.
- Sandra (8/5): Independent and non interactive B and B. - Relaxed atmosphere where you get your own breakfast in the mornings. The kitchen bin! We were there for 2 nights and the kitchen bin smelt of fridge leftovers but never emptied.
And after a very positive arrival we did not see our host for the entire time we were there. We would use again but would need to change our mindset about why we choose a B and B rather than a hotel.
- Shengbo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pat (9/5): It was a good option for Valdez. - Loved having a laundry facility. Breakfast was make your own but very adequate. Liked having tea or coffee available all day and a kitchen to work with. I didn’t like the sheets. Felt slippery , sleazy.
- Patricia (10/5): - Lovely setup kitchens was clean
- Phillip (10/5): perfect - nice couple managing the property I liked everything
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptionally well laid out floor plan, every attention to detail. You could not want for more! Very friendly and responsive host. Great breakfast choices! It was perfect.
- Columbus (4/5): disappointed. - the location was good The property description was misleading. The booking looked like a one room apartment with a kitchen and a living room. It is a room in a house with a shared kitchen and living room. It did have a private bathroom.
- Bryce (10/5): Very friendly staff, clean space, great continental breakfast, fast Wi-Fi, and the cherry on top being they have a massa - Very friendly staff, clean space, great continental breakfast, fast Wi-Fi, and the cherry on top being they have a massage chair 👌
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (6/5): - Terrible mattresses, one cupped, one hard as a rock. Lots of thumping on the ceiling from the owners upstairs while I was trying to sleep on the beds as well. Mild evangelism, pamphlets and prayers. Some though might like that, but not for us. Otherwise, you can tell that they worked pretty hard when they set the place up to try to make it nice. Breakfast supplies were more than ample.
- Barbara (9/5): It was a good stay in Valdez, too bad it was raining most of the time, but we enjoyed the Hatchery. - We arrived in Valdez on Sunday the day of “Gold Rush Days” celebration down town and the roads to the B&B were partially blocked (We ended up going to the celebration and having dinner there). but when we did arrive no one was there to let us in. We called Lorna, our host, and were given the code for home entry and and directions to our room. The B&B is located in a nice residential area in Valdez. The whole bottom floor is the B&B and the upper floor is where the family lives. There were four rooms with private bathrooms around a central area with dining table and kitchen, an adjacent living room with couches, massage chair and laundry room for guests. It was a very nice arrangement and we had the opportunity to meet many other interesting visitors, some from other countries. The breakfast was self serve with many foods like yogurt, juice, milk, muffins, bagels, cereal, eggs, etc.. We could also store our own food in the refrigerator. It was very clean and nicely furnished. We had a queen bed and another single bed in the room. The room was not large but with the community spaces is was very comfortable and felt very homey. Later, Lorna had lots of information about Valdez history and places to visit. It was particularly interesting how they handled the extreme amount of winter snow they receive, how they clear it from their roofs and from around their homes. Valdez is a smallish town and the B&B was within walking distance to many restaurants, the waterfront, museums, and the ferry to Whittier. We highly recommend this B&B Inn. Nothing
- Lachinski (4/5): I would never pay 230 a night again to share it with 12 other people what a rip off. Stay in a hotel - When you book this, you pay 230.00 a night for a room. The size of small bedroom in a home. You have access to kitchen and dining area along with 12 other people. This is not comfortable in staying with the amount of people around you all the time. Bed was hard and out dated. The small rooms could be updated.
- Chiara (9/5): Superb - Very good breakfast and very practical to have the possibility of taking it away in case leaving very early in the morning
- Ronny (10/5): We had a great stay - Very nice and informative host,
great room and nice breakfast
- Jordi.jose (9/5): Superb - Everything, from the beginning, was great. Wonderful hospitality, clean place and cozy atmosphere. The multiple suggestions made by the owner (sightseeing, restaurants, cruiser...) were all great.
- Heidi (6/5): The Little Things - Very clean, and the owners were very friendly. The place was well kept and the breakfast items provided were plentiful and there was s great variety of choices. A few of the experiences, however, left a bad taste in my mouth. Checking in was not smooth. The person who was in charge was on a phone call that resulted in us waiting almost a half hour before we could go in our room. The replacement person (another family member) didn’t know which room was ours and could not operate the credit card machine. It took two more tries over two days before my credit card was able to be processed. Once was because they hadn’t properly charged up the machine. The dryer door kept popping open, so I sat and babysat it, taking an hour and a half to partially dry our family’s laundry, which never completely dried.. None of these things are deal breakers, but it’s the little things that stick with you. it was fine but we probably won’t stay again.
- Rick (9/5): Superb -
- shay (10/5): - Wonderful host and food
- Verified traveler (10/5): Definitely Recommend! - Loved staying here, would definitely recommend. Very clean and close to town. Amy was super friendly and gave my boyfriend and I recommendations on where to explore in Valdez. The kitchen and common areas were also a pleasure, with breakfast food included. 10/10!
- Mark (6/5): - The property owners are very nice and helpful, location is good and convenient. It's clean and have a dinning room to share. but the bed room is very small, we have one queen bed and one twin bed, the bed is so small and short, I didn't have good night sleep at all. there are 4 units in the house and they are all very close to each other, we feel a bit too much into other people's privacy. it will be good for a family rent the whole thing but not for 4 groups people living side by side.
- Jean (10/5): - Host Lorna was friendly and makes an effort to be oresent snd explains where the amenities are.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Very clean. We would stay here again if we go to Valdez.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing place! The hosts are so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. They are very experienced and they have a massage chair that is incredible after along day of kayaking, hiking, traveling, ect. I highly recommend staying here. The rate is affordable, especially with the included breakfast. We loved it!!!
