Guest Reviews
- Jean Philippe (10/5): Amazing staying - Everything !
- James (8/5): -
- Caleb (10/5): Phenomenal place to stay. - The staff was amazing and very accommodating with our luggage during our two week EBC trek.
Rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again. Nothing.

- Natalia (10/5): Amazing hotel in Thamel - The staff were incredible, friendly and really helpful with odd arrival/leaving times and storing our main luggage when we went trekking. The location was perfect for exploring Thamel while the hotel still felt calm.

- Anita (10/5): - We loved our stay at the hotel, everything was lovely - the most kind and welcoming staff 🫶🏽 the area where the property is situated is great, placed on a beautiful street with chinese lamps, the street full with bars, souvenir shops, coffee shops and so on. It is also pretty near to the Durbar Square, aprox. 15-20 minutes walk. The room is clean and cool. There is also a very good Chinese restaurant in the same yard with the hotel that has amazing good and friendly staff 🩵 -
- Raymond (10/5): 11/10 - Prakash, Appu and Namish, plus their staff are worth an 11/10. They are extremely friendly, helpful, and will go out of their way to assist you. The hotel itself is in a good position, and is clean and comfortable. I WILL be staying there on return trips to Kathmandu. Namaste to all at NPI. There was nothing to dislike.
- Angela (7/5): Safe, clean, friendly accommodation in Thamel - Nice clean room, good location in Thamel, walking distance to Kathmandu Durbar Square, nice staff Can't really fault it; it was nice simple accommodation in a busy area
- Nima (1/5): Cleaning is the most no matter what - Looks good only in the picture. Too cozy, glasses, cups were not washed full of dust and dirt.
- Kishyarani (10/5): -
- Kishyarani (10/5): - The staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful! We came in a big group and they were so accommodating! Location was great, rooms were comfortable and clean. 100% will recommend this place to everyone! Nothing
- Madi (6/5): Good value for money - Great location, cute and cozy Bathroom was very mouldy and room quite small. Staff were not very friendly either
- Pavel (9/5): -
- Anna (8/5): Good for that money, meal overpriced. - Plenty of small authentic things makes the property cosy. Staff at the reception is helpful. I didn't like old greyish towels and breakfast service: I had to wait about an hour after putting order and got it only when remained that I'm waiting (when checking out there was an extra fee for breakfast service!).
- karahan (10/5): - Very friendly staff if you have questions they will help with the area, it is located in the center of Thamel close to everything and the rooms were clean. Thank you!
- Alina (7/5): -
- Pauline (6/5): Mitigé - L'emplacement et la gentillesse du personnel Manque d'éclairage dans la chambre, peu de lumière naturelle, salle de bains étroite, peu fonctionnelle... et sale, cafards, cheveux...
- Rebecca (9/5): Excellent people, local charm, centrally located and good value for money. - The owners of the Pavilion are devine. So warm and welcoming and interesting, and happy to go to any length to make you comfortable.
On our return from trekking, we arrived late and tired and they opened up the kitchen and cooked especially for us, serving our late supper on the roof terrace.
Btw, we could leave our bags at the hotel while trekking.
Also central and great price. We’ll definitely return. Bathrooms are functional, no more - but cleaner than most we encountered on our trip.
- Casper (8/5): - Nice decorations and rooms! For a few nights and in the area it is great! The so called roof top bar did not seem to be open / have any people in it.
- Ricky (5/5): Lovely owners but rooms very disappointing - The family that run the hotel are lovely, really friendly and keen to be helpful. I think this is the reason they have so many positive reviews.
The food in the restaurant was also delicious. Honestly, the rooms were very disappointing and not really what we expected based on the photos and reviews read when booking. Rooms are dark and dingy and not especially clean and bathrooms very mouldy and not well looked after. Bedsheets and towels appeared visibly dirty. Mattresses very basic - soft and you can feel the springs. I honestly had a very low moment when I got into the room late at night desperate for sleep and saw just how unpleasant it was, thinking that I had another two nights there as well.
We stayed in "Deluxe Double Room" - I do suspect that more expensive rooms might be better, but don't know for certain.
My room was also very noisy, despite my explicitly having asked for quiet rooms.
- Thapa (9/5): - Ambience Amenities like iron, electric kettles and other bathrooms amenities like shampoo ,handwashing were missing
- Sophie (4/5): Disappointing, overall - For the price, there are far far better options avaliable in and around Thamel. I found this hotel very dusty and the bathrooms in particular were not at all clean.
It's also noisy because of its location (not unexpected, but worth noting) and the rooms I viewed have very limited natural daylight.
- İSA (10/5): -
- Edward (9/5): Highly Recommend! - Super friendly staff, great location, very nice design.
- Simon (10/5): - Lovely hosts. Booked me a taxi when needed. Very friendly. The reception is cool with lots of interesting paintings and carvings.
- Susan (8/5): Very convenient, good value hotel - Good location and very friendly staff Bit noisy at night because of central location
- Robert (8/5): 10/10 for the hospitality at this hotel, the staff could not do enough for us, they were warm and welcoming. - Great location in lively Thamel, this is a very interesting hotel full of artefacts and antiques, you really got a flavour of Nepal. Although it was on a busy street it was tucked away and quiet. Although clean, the room and en-suite was a little tired. But considering the price it was amazing value for money.
- asia (10/5): People that treat you like family - We stayed here for the first two days before leaving for a week of trekking. The stay was welcoming and the facility was meticulously maintained. The real treat, however, was the welcome we received upon our return. After a week of hard trek and a journey to come back to katmandu really really difficult, we arrived at the hotel at 6:00 AM. They helped us out and provided us with a room for a few hours so we could shower at a so small price. A truly humane gesture, from someone who treats others like family. I highly recommend the facility and the people who run it. Thanks again No issues to complain
- Ekaterina (10/5): - Very kind and helpful staff
- James (8/5): -
- Anna (7/5): Very kind staff in a great spot, facilities could be upgraded but good value for money. - The staff were amazing, they were very warm and welcoming and were quick to act on any request. The location was very central in Thamel so a good base for exploring the city. The bathroom was quite dated and some damage around the sink so wasn’t super pleasant to be in, we also noticed a few bugs crawling around the floors of an evening.
- MacKay (10/5): - Amazing location and the friendliest, mostly helpful staff running it. They stored our bags for us for 2 weeks while we are hiking and were very helpful when I needed to take some phone calls in the middle of the night. It’s really good value for money, and we will definitely be coming back here when we return
- Nick (10/5): Really good stay - This was a 10/10 stay. The location is central but it is nice and quiet. The rooms are clean. The staff was amazing, so helpful and kind. Best of all was the food - incredible cooking and great prices. Would highly recommend to anyone
- Somnath (3/5): -
- Akif Ahammed (8/5): -
- Seth (6/5): - The staff was lovely, specially Mahesh. The problem was cockroaches and bed bugs. I changed three rooms during my stay due to the issue of cockroaches and in the last room, there were also bed bugs. The staff offered to give me another room but by that time, I had already spent 1 night there and experienced the cockroach issue so I decided to checkout than to switch rooms.
The location is convenient and there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and and a large shopping area too on a walking distance; however, there is a night club right opposite the hotel and they play music all night, so due to that my sleep was severely disturbed too.
I would not book it again, but the staff is absolutely lovely, and the place's interior is purely nepalese culture inspired so that was lovely to witness and enjoy!
- Rakin (2/5): Paid alot for the stay and it was not worth it - That would be the behavior of the staffs. The food was really bad and also the hygiene of the washroom, expected so much better! But itwas completely reel vs reality
- Xinyue (9/5): - Nice location in Central Tamil, though the street is a bit crowded and dusty, which I think is typical for urban Nepal. The staff are very helpful, and the decoration style is unique. Plus, the prices are affordable. The building does not have an elevator, and some rooms lack air conditioning. It's not a major issue, but it's good to be aware of this in advance.
- James (10/5): Best hotel in Asia for value and quality - The entire place was like stepping into what you always hoped Nepal would be like. The staff is all family and treated us like family as well. Whenever we needed anything it was taken care of and we felt safe and looked after day and night. Prakash was ready and willing to help with a taxi or advice about shopping or eating or even coordinating a day trip for much cheaper prices than online. If and when I’m back in a Nepal I will surely stay at Nepal pavilion inn! How could anyone not like anything about the property it’s perfect
- Gary (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cate (8/5): Good - Good location. The place was clean and the staff was helpful. I accidentally booked without AC.
- Debbie (7/5): Cheep and cheerful - Really friendly.
Very cheap Air conditioning did not work
- Tait (9/5): Great family run peaceful hotel! - Great value for money, superb owners, in great location. Fan provided so perfect to sleep. Super peaceful with no noise at all from outside. Just to note that there is no lift but we were kindly helped with our bags. Room could get quite stuffy if you stayed in during the day.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sydney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trezza (9/5): Superb - Everything was perfect. The staff was the best. We super recommend it.
- Dana (10/5): The perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. - Nepal Pavilion Inn was the perfect place for a quiet retreat from the bustling streets of Thamel. We loved the local antiques and artwork from Nepal that made each room unique. The staff were very friendly and helpful in every way.
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Samarth (1/5): Bad - This property is not meant for families or groups of friends. This is a family run property, and the guy who sits at the reception needs professional help. He will declare your partner or female friends as prostitutes and will not allow them and you to enter the property. I had paid the full amount in advance and I had along with my friends had the worst stay of our lives. If you want your partner to be called "PROSTITUTES" then you can consider this property. This property is not meant for families or groups of friends. This is a family run property, and the guy who sits at the reception needs professional help. His name starts with Praveen but I'm not sure though. I avoided talking to such a disgusting guy. He will declare your partner or female friends as prostitutes and will not allow them and you to enter the property. - Shwe (7/5): Good -
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Anita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bhandary (5/5): Passable - Cleanliness of the room. Noise until morning since its a prime location for night life.
- Tim (7/5): Sadly lack of sleep - Lovely staff and location but very thin windows so a lot of street noise including the local club pumping music out till 6am and local workers nearby making noise from 6am. So really great staff, great location and very clean but sleeping is not very good there.
- Shwe (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (8/5): Thamel Gem - Charming hotel in excellent location in Thamel....reflects the timeless wonder of Kathmandu in its decoration and attention to detail.....cozy rooftop bar and viewing platform add another local style dimension
Plumbing very Nepali but hot water gushes when the geyser is on... recommend upgrade to Delux room for extra space
Highly recommend and excellent value for this repeat customer
- Aleksandr (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay as usual !!!
- Aleksandr (10/5): Always return back !! - I adore this hotel!!!
Rooftop is very charming and chill!!!
- Prahlad (1/5): They need to change everything in room I stay ,old mattress tore blanket bedsheet poor managemen - Mattress was worst bed don’t know how old was that they charge more than 3000nrs but the facilities were nothing no ac only one towel for two of us, no toilet paper after I ask they provide me. Tea bag and coffee packet were damage overall with the price I paid I was really sad.
- Annamaria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful family owners in a perfect area to explore Tnamel!
- John (9/5): Great Budget hotel, shame about the noise - Lovely place run by a very friendly and helpful family, good location in Thamel. Music noise from a nightclub went on to 6am and even earplugs couldn't block out the base! Building work next door meant it was noisy in the day too.
- Samrat (5/5): Old property and not comfortable. - Property had nice location Property was really old and not value for money
- Annamaria (10/5): Great place to stay in Kathmandu, staff are friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable and safe. Will be back -
- Marcelo (9/5): Superb - Very good location in Thamel, nice ambience and comfortable room! I highly recommend it!
- John (10/5): Great budget option in Thamel - Lovely little family run hotel, clean, comfortable and in good location. A little noisy from outside particularly with night club music, but that's hard to avoid in Thamel I think.
- Chaoyi (10/5): Very good - The decoration and location are good, stuffs are nice and kind and willing to help. The toilet pump needs to be improved
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Darren (9/5): Superb -
- Ivana (10/5): Super friendly stay - Everybody at the reception desk was amazing and super helpful. They gave us many tips as to where to find local food, which places to visit at what time. We returned to the hotel two more times during our stay in Nepal and would have done so again.
If you are visiting during January or February we recommend either getting the heated room or ask for an additional room heater. Kathmandu gets really cold during this season.
- Diane (8/5): Friendly staff and convenient location in Thamel - Great location in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and kind. Their Momos were delicious! Staff were helpful when our accommodation plans needed to be adjusted. They helped us to organise a day of visits to local temples and historical sites. Some noisy guests spoiled our sleep but staff were helpful in addressing the situation. Bathroom could have been cleaner ( some mould made it musty, however the shower was nice and warm after a long day of travelling).
- Katie (7/5): Ok for short stay - Good location in Thames, staff nice Bathroom outdated and not the cleanest. Room was small and could do with updating
- Arthur (4/5): Disappointing - No hot shower
- Josh (9/5): Great stay - lovely staff, rooms and location -
- Thomas (10/5): Lovely family running a great hotel - Really friendly staff always greeting you with a smile and happy to chat!
Momo's were great in the restaurant!
Shower was the hottest and most powerful we had while travelling through Asia for 3 months. I miss that shower, just give it a few minutes to warm up! Me and my girlfriend enjoyed every minute of our time at the hotel! 100% recommend staying here!
- Georgina (9/5): Superb - The owner and all the staff are very kind and helpful, the place is decor with so much love and all many antiques. Location is perfect, you can walk everywhere and have many cafes and shops around! Everything was great!
- D (6/5): Could and should have been better - The Nepal Pavillion Inn is in Thamel. All the antique shops, restaurants, shops for hiking gear, cashmere and pashmina shops, money exchanges, etc. are within walking distance of this hotel. Most historic locations are very close, and it is easy to travel to or from the airport by taxi. The hotel showcases antiques and traditional Nepali interior design components. Most of the staff were very nice to me and my wife. Although we had a room with a balcony (room 304), it was all very dark because of its cramped surroundings. The room appeared smaller than in the pictures, and the toilet slash bathroom was tiny. Everything felt slightly damp, probably because it gets very little sunlight. Unfortunately, after spending the second night, I found red patches on some parts where my skin was exposed. While writing this review, I am still applying medications for fungal infections on my skin, which seem to be working. Maybe other rooms that get more sunlight (I don't know if there are such rooms in this hotel) would provide a better experience for the residents.
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff and very open to fulfill all our wishes.
- Connor (9/5): Superb - A great little hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Good location and within walking distance to many different sights and restaurants. It's a great base for exploring Kathmandu as well as preparing for trekking. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We stayed here on three separate occasions during our time in Nepal and we would stay again. Note there is limited natural light in the rooms and they can get a little stuffy if you book a small room (larger rooms are fine). Also note you are close to the street so it may be a little noisy at night (but very manageable with ear plugs!).
- Connor (9/5): Superb - Second time staying here after our trek. Great place to rest and recover with friendly staff with clean and comfortable rooms.
- Connor (9/5): Superb - Our third stay at Nepal Pavilion Inn as a stopover before catching our flight out of Nepal. Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Highly recommend.
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theshwaur (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel and the staff were awesome. Had a very nice stay. Thanks to Prakash and his family for hosting us. It was not just a hotel but a home for travellers. Nothing
- Shuvo (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (9/5): Grwat mid range option - Lovely room full of character. Hot showers. Great food, we ate on a little lounge area outside the room. V central in Thamel. Nothing!
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely people running a lovely local hotel, be sure to have a meal upstairs, we really enjoyed the insight into Nepali cuisine. Highly recommend
- Dilini (6/5): The location was good. The quality of bathroom shall be improved to make it pleasant. - Good location to easily access the restaurants and shopping area. The water in washroom was smelling bad. Bathroom door was not lockable. The shower head was corroded. No toothbrush or toothpaste supplied. Towels were old.
- Mateja (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone was very friendly. The location is great. I recommend!
- Jose (8/5): Very good -
- Chane (8/5): Clean, comfortable - Second time staying after coming back from our trek. Clean, comfortable, great location! Owners are lovely and help with organisation of whatever you need!
- Valentina (8/5): Very good -
- Darren (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (2/5): Very poor -
