Guest Reviews

- Nicole (6/5): 1 nacht - Schoon, comfortabele bedden.
- Iryna (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here. What we especially liked was the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the fantastic service, and the great attention to detail. The room was always perfectly clean, with fresh towels and spotless bed linen. Thank you very much – it truly made our stay wonderful.

- jean-francois (9/5): - Côté pittoresque de l’établissement!
- Laura (8/5): Historic property in the centre of town - The property is an enormous 1930’s classic building with beautiful features, the area we stayed in was on the second floor and consisted of six en suite rooms with a beautiful reception/dining area steeped in history. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful providing us a map of the local area, personally marking sites and places of interest. Property in ideal location for walking around Salerno. Although the property was beautiful, there are some major renovations ongoing, the entire property is covered with scaffolding and the shared interior boarded up, will be beautiful when finished but after speaking to some locals, we were told the scaffolding has been up for nearly 30 years

- Gayle (9/5): Superb -
- Harley (6/5): - Under renovation. Very old entrance , lift ,
- Andreea🌹 (10/5): Exceptional - The positioning of location was perfect, you have restaurants very close and very important .. for the transportation, also the port for ferry it s also very close. The room was very nice and clean.About the host, Vittoria was very useful, helping with infos regarding everything. We had a problem with our transportation bus on departure to airport and she arranged a taxi for us (was to much crowded we were about to lose flight without her).Luciana was also nice ,guiding us and help us with tips regarding all locations.I strongly recommend this location ,for us was the base reaching amalfi, positano, capri and was the best choise.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely stay - Very comfortable homely stay with excellent hosts and in a great location. Would highly recommend.
- Vittorio (10/5): - Very nice hosts and clean and well located
- Kendra (10/5): Perfect stay! - The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The room was clean and very comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. The location was perfect — close to everything we wanted to see and do. They also were able to accommodate my gluten free diet. Highly recommend!
- Coppola (4/5): Wish I read the reviews before wasting part of our honeymoon. - Just the staff. And only because they are so kind. However some important questions were answered quite late, the staff is not there 24/7 so if you have a question you could potentially be waiting 8+ hours for a response. I felt it was a scam… there is nothing said about the insane amount of construction at the hotel. We booked a “balcony with sea view room” which would have been nice to enjoy a bottle of wine and snack… but was so disappointed at the rusty dangerous scaffolding on the deck and net. There is only two bottles of water given upon arrival of stay and breakfast is so over priced to be able to walk one block and get everything you need for way less. The room is comfortable to sleep in, but by zero means “luxury”. This add should be changed because it is extremely misleading to bookers and very disappointing. If the lady at the desk wasn’t so kind, we would have been out of there in 3 minutes.
- Ash (6/5): Cute but VERY NOISY - Arredi belli. Interior design top. Rumorosa. Very noisy.
- Rowena (8/5): A nice stay. Owners were super helpful and friendly. Great central location - Clean, comfortable, v helpful host, central It was a shame we didn’t know in advance that the building was under renovation which meant the balcony couldn’t be used and view obscured by scaffolding
- Alison (10/5): A beautiful apartment in a beautiful building. - A beautiful room with a sea view. A fascinating history about the connection of the Donna Giulia luxury rooms to the building. Incredibly nice staff, both informative, kind and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful stay. This made a great base to visit Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Naples and also Salerno itself - the old town is beautiful.
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): - Was nice inside the building
- Eric (8/5): Very relaxing with lovely staff. - Good No fridge in room.
TV too small.
- Pauline (10/5): Lovely stay in a charming town - Would stay here again, despite the construction taking place on building... as the service was wonderful and the room quite comfortable. Construction limited the beauty and charm but did not disturb us, as they worked during day when we were out exploring.
Used as our home base for taking train or ferry to other cities... so easy and inexpensive to get to Vietri, Minori, Amalfi, Positano and Ravello.
Our room was nothing fancy, but large and comfortable. There is a large main room for all guests to share and relax, well-appointed with couches and books.
You need to take elevator lift or stairs to access, as it is not on ground level.
Vittoria and Luciana and their team were OUTSTANDING! Excellent communication via What'sApp. Vittoria welcomed us personally and allowed us to store luggage. Provided us with map and lots of recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Helped us get bus tickets.
They offer breakfast for a small charge and we say get it! It was all homemade and delicious... yogurts, fresh fruit, cheese, meats, fresh pastry and bread, coffee, juice and even made us scrambled eggs.
Our stay was lovely!
- Flora (10/5): Exceptional -
- cynthia (10/5): Great hotel near Centro storico - The hotel is very accommodating and wishing that you enjoy Salerno to its fullest. It is conveniently located near Centro storico and many restaurants and shopping. Unfortunately the building is still under renovation so while you can see the sea it is hampered by the netting.
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb - The staff who greeted us was wonderful and helped us navigate the limited parking avaialble, she also gave us a choice of rooms. All the rooms were exquisitely designed and the bathroom with bath was gorgeous. Rennovation work made finding the entrance difficult and the car park was far away but the beautiful suites made up for any navigating challenges.
- Minna (10/5): - Amazing service and property!
- Alan (9/5): Superb - First impressions of a property under renovation are quickly replaced on entering this lovely property. Clean stylish with character and spacious. Very nice stay. Work restoring this property has apparently come to a standstill. Doesn't effect the stay but is a bit daunting.
- Hristian (10/5): perfect stay! - Very nice room! Vittoria was extremely helpful and showed us where we can go in the city for sightseeing and meals.
- Jinqi (10/5): One of the best experiences I have had with booking - Great location and hospitality!
- Diana (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (8/5): Great inside, exterior under renovation - The common areas and room are clean and beautiful. Luciana was a tremendous hostess. The ongoing work on the exterior of the building means there is scaffolding outside your window which blocks much of the view. Also, the inside of the building, before you get to the DG part, is kind of dark/weird, including the really old lift. But was totally safe, and the doorman was great.
- Gylfi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christi (10/5): - The hotel is in a historic building and the furnishings complemented the style perfectly. It was clean and the check-in process was seamless. One of my flights was delayed an hour and they contacted me to make sure everything was alright. I was traveling by myself so I truly appreciated this. The hotel is right across the street from the sea and the boardwalk. Vittoria was incredible. She went above and beyond as I flew in from the USA because my husband had motor scooter accident and was in the local hospital in the orthopedic trauma unit. She helped me get an ambulance for my husband to move from hospital to Airbnb, locate a hospital bed and coordinate the delivery, sent me links to restaurants and local sites among other things. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in Salerno!
- Shadi (10/5): One of my best travel experiences… unforgettable - Almost every thing. A Beautiful old building, full of character and story…Spacious lounge ..nice paintings and family pictures of the owner… excellent location with the sea view… room clean and bright… high ceiling, big window… during the day you had the fantastic view of the sea… for the night the automatic blinds made dead dark for a deep sleep…
Vittoria was such a welcoming sweet lady, available all the time… gave me a list of places to visit.. nice bars and restaurants.. Nothing!!! It was one of the best places I stayed ❤️❤️❤️
- Elchin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): O recommended 100% - Everything was fantastic: the house, the location, and the owner. I never leave reviews, but on this occasion, it is well deserved because everything was wonderful. I can’t say anything negative about it.
- Saji (9/5): Superb - We picked this property due to the proximity to train station and ferry terminal.
Excellent communication and guest service from the time of reservation to calling us a taxi.
- Basel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frida (5/5): Clean, good location but would not stay again. - Lovely help from staff but did not have any hot water for my shower in the evening. Really frustrated when it is 30 degrees Celsius outside. Also got recommended to visit local sites that were closed and I think one ought to keep track of these things when guiding tourists.
Located in an old building undergoing renovation so the view was obstructed by scaffolding and net. Has one really old and scary elevator and, as a woman travelling alone, I did not enjoy to go through the building alone in the evening.
The room was nice and clean though, but was really too expensive for what you get. Access to the hotel, no hot water and just a bit scary when the staff leaves for the night.
- Daniel Manuel (2/5): Stay away under construction and owner will keep $ - Property is under full construction and owner is lying within stating facts it was not disclosed and then she’s lies stating will refund . Do not book this property you will never get refunded since owner does not honor her word. .
- Pasquale (9/5): Superb -
- Devesh (9/5): Superb -
- Marilyn (2/5): Description is way off for this place. - Nothing really. Advertised breakfast on terrace, but not possible. No 24 hour person on duty, actually we only saw one in the am occasionally. Old clunky elevator. Guesthouse is in part of an old warehouse. Note—part of. The warehouse is creepy and gross. Staff communication is limited to only ‘what's ap’ once you check in.
- Nicole (7/5): Overall I did enjoy my stay and it was great for our needs. - The room was clean and the air condition worked very well. The construction and the entrance process was undesirable. It was a bit difficult to locate the unit and first entrance was confusing. The bed was very stiff and the bathroom was tiny.
- Angela (9/5): Superb - Great accommodation, good location, nice staff, anytime again!
- Alexandra (8/5): Relaxing and exciting all in one three day visit . - We loved the elegance of Salerno, with its faded 19Century charm , and excellent restaurants nearby to Donna Guilia. We loved the long boulevard along the arbour front at dusk with its old style ( once gas) lights blinking on . It is a great place from which to either take the public ferry to nearby towns Amalfi ( and bus to Ravello ) and Positano , and /or splurge on a more expensive day trip with a smaller group on a smaller motor cruiser to go to Capri for the day and do some swimming in the ocean . The guesthouse is delightful but currently the exterior of the old building ( as at June 2024) is being renovated so that scaffolding and netting is up that obscures the lovely view of the harbour, mountains and glorious afternoon light . Despite this the place is still charming and we support and applaud the efforts to retain such lovely achitecture.
- Gurjit (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely thrilled with this hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly, offering local restaurant and bar recommendations. Our room was clean and smelled wonderful. Though the view was obstructed by construction, their warm hospitality and attention to detail made up for it. A special touch: they put a flower I was gifted in a beautiful vase without us asking. We'll definitely stay here again.
- Navya (9/5): Lovely room, helpful staff , decent breakfast - Cozy, nice room comfortable and decent breakfast , very helpful staff I needed to travel Rome and continue my itinerary of my trip.I requested for 7.45am breakfast as the notice in room said one can request breakfast from 7.30am. But was told that’s not possible. Why the hotel keeps the notice with contradictory information and it was stressful for me. I requested for the second time explaining my proceedings at Rome and they arranged however. Appreciate it but hotel need to work one what they display vs what they actually can do
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was delicious and the hostess was personable and nice! An address on the front door on the street to find the building.
- Linda (10/5): Great stay! Great staff! - Great property on the second floor. Building is being remodeled but it did not impact our stay. Fabulous view and service. Rooms are newly remodeled and very comfortable. Much nicer than by the pictures! Lobby remodel was unsightly but it will be wonderful soon.
- Kristine (10/5): Our favorite place in our favorite city - Everything! Beautiful property, staff was amazing. Location perfect. Exterior was being worked on & facade a mess. Beds were very hard but staff got us pads for the bed which fixed the problem. Did not affect our great time there!
- Angeline (7/5): Great location amd host - Location was great. Hosts were amazing! Room was on the small side.
- Carina (1/5): Bad - Location I paid more to have an ocean view and when I arrived I found out that the building is under construction for more than 2 years, and it is completely covered with mesh screening and construction scaffolding surrounding the entire building. I had communicated with the hotel previous to my arrival and I asked them if I will have ocean view and they told me "Oh yes"!!!. They never mentioned that it is covered with with mesh screening and construction scaffolding surrounding the entire building. Also, when you see pictures on the website, they show something that is not actually true. They say the room has a balcony. Yes, it has a balcony, but it is useless because it is completely obstructed by the mesh screening and scaffolding, hence making it unusable! This is pure fraud. There is no disclaimer or anything when you book at this place, telling you about these conditions.
Then, they charge €15 for a breakfast that is coffee, yogurt, toast and a croisant.
They call this place"Luxury House". This place is very far from that.
At the entrance of the building, and throughout the first level lobby, there was a disgusting smell from the sewer all the time. The building is in very very bad conditions. It looks like it will collapse anytime soon.
You can see on my pictures.
I do NOT recommend this place!!!!!! FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD!!!
- Brunasso (3/5): Disappointed. - This was our second time in Salerno, unfortunately the B&B we stayed at the first time was no longer in business due to covid. After searching on line and seeong the pictures we decided to stay at Donna Giulia. The buliding is under renovation, it's surrounded with scaffolding. We were supposed to have two rooms with an ocean view but only one had a view, it didn't matter because the ocean view is definitely obstructed by the scaffolding. We would wake up in the morning with construction workers on the scaffolding outside our window. As soon as we walked into the room there was a musty odor, after one night's sleep we figured out it was the bed linens, seemed like they were left in the washer too long after the wash cycle. After we mentioned it to the staff it was promtly taken care of. This building has so much potential if the renovation was completed. Sorry to say our experience was not as good as our first time in Salerno.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
Fiyat 25 eur. Victoria pozitif ve yardımcı.
- Lisa (2/5): - This property is misrepresented online - it is currently under construction/renovation in the front of the building with scaffolding all around. I had to enter a small backdoor, only to realize the interior lobby area is also under construction with scaffolding and dust - looked like it was bombed. I refused to stay there and the owner/property manager would not refund me even though they never disclosed the condition of the property.
- Derci (10/5): Castelo bello - Extremamente agradavel, confortável, limpo e agradável
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is very, very kind!! They quickly answered the message sent through Booking.Com and explained it in detail when asked how to move to nearby tourist attractions. The building is under construction, but the interior is clean. The rooms are also kept neat. I was impressed that the staff was so kind, and I had a pleasant and pleasant trip thanks to them.
- Teija (10/5): - Loistava sijainti aivan vanhan kaupungin sekä meren vieressä. Ostoskatu korttelin päässä ja rautatieasemalle kävelee 10-15 min. Rauhalliset unet ihanassa huoneissa, suosittelen lämpimästä!
- James (8/5): It’s getting there - Great location! The remodel that was finish was excellent. But the building is under major renovation. Views from the room were obscured by scaffolding and netting. Room was nice, but bed was pretty hard with twin mattresses shove together. The rest of the building was pretty dirty and rat traps everywhere. When this place is finish will be pretty nice. Should be a little more transparent in the advertising and slightly less expensive.
- Lanzi (7/5): Ok - Location close to everything. Room was clean Entrance gloomy and had sewage smell. Elevator did not work when we checked out. Very small TV in room.
- Teleah (9/5): Superb -
