- Juris (9/5): - Very kind and responsive owners, really good breakfast. Great location. Very tiny shower cabin, thin walls.
- Martina (9/5): - Staff is soooo friendly and helpful --> just stay at this place and you have a perfect experience of the "Sentiero degli Dei" (directly next to the hotel, staff helps you book your ferry back etc.)
The view from the terrace is breathtaking - mountains on one side, sea on the other.
Huge breakfast to be prepared for hiking.
- Jolanda (10/5): Heerlijk kort bij Degli Dei wandelroute - Perfecte ligging, vriendelijke host, goed ontbijt, lekker diner Niets
Mieliśmy pokoj dwuosobowy z prywatna łazienka i balkonem.
Czas przejazdu do Agerola: około 1 godzina 45 minut
Przystanek docelowy Agerola (Bomerano) skad macie 20m do hotelu.

- Stéfanie (10/5): Great hôtel in Agerola - Super hôtel en plein centre d'agerola. Service exemplaire.
RAS
- josephine (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful
- Jennifer (10/5): - Mario was a wonderful host and very helpful whenever we needed his assistance. We hope to visit again one day!
- Gloria (10/5): - Hotel.muy bien ubicado. Habitaciones amplia y buen desayuno. Gente amable.
- FELIX (10/5): - Excellent room friendly staff. Mario was very helpful.

- Diego 93 (8/5): -
- Miriam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Soraya (8/5): - Nice hotel
- Barron (7/5): I loved the location perfect for hiking the path of the Gods and staying the night. The gardens are beautiful and well m - Mario was very nice and helpful. The view was spectacular from bedroom window. The dining rooms were very elegant and comfortable. Mattress too firm and rough towels.
- Joseph (10/5): Peaceful hotel in the hills - We loved this hotel and it perfectly fit our needs. We wanted to visit the Amalfi coast, but with a car, figured it would be a hassle to stay there. Instead, we stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, which had free parking, and made day trips to Amalfi. It was wonderful to return to the serenity of this hotel and the friendly staff at the end of some long days of Amalfi sightseeing. The drive to Amalfi is about 40 minutes and is on a very scenic road.
- Lee (8/5): Very good - Great location, great price, clean, comfortable and fresh, plus friendly and helpful owner.
- Hannu (8/5): - Asiallinen perushotelli, vaatimaton aamiainen.
- Bradshaw (10/5): A perfect place to stay in beautiful Bomerano - Amazing location. The hotel was lovely, with beautiful gardens & Mario was so helpful. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer as so much to explore here. We will definitely be back.
- Marian (10/5): Just book it! - Just book it!
- Odineia f (10/5): Path to The gods - Hotel de uma cidade pequena com todas as comodidades.
- Glenda (8/5): Might stay again - Location was perfect The bed was actually two twins push together in this very uncomfortable. Pillows really really bad.
- Maximilian (10/5): - The hotel is located at the main square of Agerola. Very helpful staff. Rooms in good condition. Parking possibilities available. Great starting point for the walk to Positano (Path of Gods). Close bus stop to/from Amalfi.
Great value for money.
- Garrett (8/5): - Probably the best hotel you can get in the location.
- Jenna (10/5): Great price on a great room - It was a very nice room, seemed very well-kept. Beds were comfortable enough, bathroom was well stocked, the entire staff was SO nice! We've met a lot of people on this road trip, and these guys were some of the best! We WILL be back!
- Olivér (8/5): Very good - Nice little village. Excellent location for the start of the "Path of the gods" hiking tour, clean rooms, satisfying breakfast.
- Sarah (2/5): - Mario, the owner was very nice. Unfortunately, my room was not. Better to pay extra and stay in AirBnB. AC didn’t work, bedspread, chair dirty. I wouldn’t sleep in or on sheets - I slept on towels. Shower fine. When I left early in morning to hike Path of the Gods, the main part of the hotel was closed. I had to find another way out. I was in an empty wing of hotel with initially no WiFi available. Mario did allow us to store our luggage there, which was nice, while we hiked. Owner gets 4 stars and my room gets 1 star!
- Ouassim (9/5): Superb -
- Bart (8/5): Very good - Kind staff and nice garden
- Jan (10/5): - This was a perfect spot to stay and hike the Trail of the God's
- Diane (8/5): Perfect Location - Perfect location for hiking the Pathway of the Gods. Great restaurants within walking distance, too. Garden view and hotel kept immaculately added to comfort. Room had great water pressure. Could have used another pillow and option of additional blankets. Friendly and inviting area that is more relaxed.
- andrew (8/5): - very good town to stay in when visiting the Amalfi coast.
hotel was affordable, friendly and helpful staff. located near bus stop connecting to other towns. close to scooter rentals which is the best way to get around other than the bus if you are a good confident rider.
- Jiby (9/5): Very good - Location Only one English speaking staff
- Evelina (10/5): - Very friendly people, amazing breakfast spot in the yard with trees and flowers, excellent location
- Deiby (10/5): - Beautiful places, veri nice people ✌️❤️
- Annalisa (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (10/5): Mario and his family are so welcoming and go the extra mile to make your stay an enjoyable one. - Lovely location, handy for buses, and located in a lovely square with enough local amenities. The family run hotel was like home from home. Mario and his family are so welcoming and go the extra mile to make your stay an enjoyable one. Nothing.
- Arelis (6/5): - Had issues with the AC, the room was 23.9 C. Additionally, it is managed by the owner from his phone with set hours. I was very warm and unable to sleep well. The desk is closed and the owner seems to be a one man team, I reached out via text but did not get an answer until the following morning.
Additionally, the breakfast was pretty poor. Nothing warm. Mostly bread and pastries. Juice. I got ham and cheese if I asked for it.
One good thing is the location in reference to the start point of the path of the gods. The hotel is right at the start point.
- Hyangsuk (9/5): Superb - A great hotel to stay in for the Paths of God trek. The breakfast was good and it felt like a family-run country house.
- Jessica (10/5): - Lovely place in Bomerano. Great hospitality and great price.
- Anton (6/5): Pleasant -
- Robert (10/5): The hotel staff was exceptionally professional, friendly, and very family oriented. Great location! - We were quite surprised and absolutely impressed that the hotel owner actually walked from the hotel to the bus stop to greet us. Prior to our arrival from Amalfi he texted to ensure we were on the correct bus and that we got off at the correct stop. He walked us back to the hotel and straight to our room. The room was large and very clean, had the usual amenities, and included a balcony where we could see the activities in the small town square. We believe it was the family patriarch that looked for us the next morning as we sat on a local bench near the hotel just taking in the morning. He invited us to the dining room behind the hotel for a wonderful breakfast that included entirely too much food for two of us. There was nothing we didn't like about our stay.
- Marian (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Razvan (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (10/5): ANDATECI - OTTIMO RAPPORTO QUALITA' PREZZO - Accolti molto bene in camere recentemente ristrutturate, confortevoli e sempre ben pulite. Titolari sempre disponibili.
- Jan (9/5): Excellent location for exploring the Amalfi coast - Great location and welcoming atmosphere. Room was exceptionally clean. Nothing.
- Jessika (10/5): - We stayed here so we could explore the town while in the region and so we could rest before hiking the path of the gods. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the facilities were clean and comfortable. The view from our room was quaint, overlooking the small town square. There’s a restaurant inside and free breakfast was s great way to prepare us for our hike.
- Ben (9/5): Superb - Great breakfast and warm friendly staff. Super handy to the ‘Walk of the Gods’, one of the best walks you will ever do. They said we would have a washing machine and we didn’t.
- Robert (8/5): Amalfi coast stay - A very nice family run hotel. Mario is a great guy and very helpful. The staff is excellent. Free parking is a bonus. I would recommend this hotel if in the area. Very close to Amalfi but away from the crowds and noise. Hotel in a beautiful little village square. There was no air condition although that is apparently being rectified.
- Quinn (10/5): - Very nice and helpful
- Peter (10/5): Great hotel in Agerola - Hotel Gentile is in the main square of Agerola. if you are doing the Path of the Gods walk it starts outside the hotel so perfect location .
has a good restaurant and Mario the owner is very friendly and helpful
nice rooms , good breakfast and good price
I will be back another time
- Rodrigo (9/5): Superb - Very good breakfast, ideal to go for a hike afterwards!
- Donald (10/5): Welcoming, comfortable, central to town - Excellent surroundings. Mario was very helpful. Very comfortable and quiet. Central location with comfortable bed and well served continental breakfast.
- Fabienne (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and spoke english, also it was very close to the hiking path of the gods
- Inam (10/5): Couldn't have asked for a better stay - Can not admire the hospitality at Hotel Gentile enough. Wonderful family owned/run hotel in a beautiful village near the Amalfi coast. Mario is amazing, kind and the best host you can ask for. Thank you, Mario!!
- Antonia (9/5): Superb - Perfect location right next to the bus stop and a little piazza. Room was quite big, and had a nice view to the mountains. Nothing :)
- Rimantas (10/5): Exceptional - Good location
- Linda (9/5): Lovely location, I can only recommend! - The location of the property is really amazing. It’s a small village located on top of the mountains, it’s a 20 minutes drive with a breathtaking view down to Amalfi coast. The “Path of Gods” scenic trail literally starts next street to the hotel. There is also a good restaurant close to the hotel La Cascina del Sole.
- Kaira (8/5): Very good - The view is beautiful and the breakfast was amazing It didn’t have aircon
- KOK (8/5): - A very friendly family-owned hotel just steps from the hiking trails. They are most accommodating and helpful whether providing dinner, information about travel or local attractions. Free parking too.
- jen_joe_walsh (8/5): Family run small hotel - We had a lovely stay at this small family run hotel. The hotel is a 3 star so not the most luxurious, but clean and comfortable. It is located on the edge of the village square where there are a few bars and shops including bakers, delis and ice cream. The hotel is run by the extended family, the food was locally sourced and very tasty. The homemade limoncello was delicious! The garden has tomatoes, peppers etc as well as kiwi fruit and grapes growing.
- G6426FManthonys (6/5): Lovely family but a bit tired hotel - Family run hotel by a lovely extended family and very friendly. Not a lot of English, but the young man running it has very good English and is so helpful and friendly.
The room was large enough but on the second floor was very close to the church bells which ring every half hour so good ear plugs are a necessity. As usual with European hotels there is a lot of noise from adjacent rooms and the hallway. The beds were comfortable and with the ear plugs we slept quite well.
Breakfast was the traditional continental breakfast with very fresh and warm apricot croissants. Dinner was for big courses with the standout being the bruschetta each evening and the home made ravioli.
Good location in Agerola/Bomerano close to the start of the pathway of the gods and other paths. Lovely little village piazza outside.
Wifi was fast and free
- 554estellel (4/5): It needs some upgrading, a little tired - Friendly hotel but we visited it at the beginning of April (therefore the beginning of the tourist season) and it felt that no updating had been done during the winter. The bathroom was very dated, the shower cubicle extremely small, the lights in the bathroom had the wrong size bulbs so the light covers did not fit. The TV was not plugged in and did not work. The air conditioning did not work. It just felt a little old, dated and in need of a little bit of TLC. The meals are also very simple and the breakfast very basic.
- RatingDuo (6/5): Average! - Cannot give a 4 because needs an upgrade (too old, partially dirty and a bit left to its faith) but cannot rate it with a 2 either because it wasn't that bad, friendly staff, okay breakfast and it offered a quiet place to rest.
We had a pretty strange drive up here coming from Amalfi. It was definitely a freaky ride to say the least. But once you finally make it - it is a beautiful place. Shame we only stayed here for the night - passing by - and needed to get on our way to Rome where our return flight was schedules. The place has the Paths of Gods and the brochure alone looked amazing. Should surely come back to explore these parts and would not mind staying here. The overnight stay for a couple cost 80 euros - a bit expensive given the average conditions it offers. But still everything was working fine, including the internet.
- Karlisto (10/5): Friendly family run Hotel - We stayed at Hotel Gentile during our walking holiday to Italy. We loved our stay at the family run hotel. The staff were kind and went out out of their way to help us with all our travelling needs. The food in the evening was always something we looked forward to after our long daytime walks - the food was traditional Italian cuisine at its best, served with care and attention.
The rooms are clean and boast character. we particularly enjoyed our bath and balcony.
The Hotel is full of Italian charm and we would not hesitate to stay there again on our next holiday to the Amalfi coastal area.
Top marks, thank you very much to Mario and his family - we appreciated greatly all of the warmth and hospitality shown to us - Agerola is a great place - we didnt want to leave!
- Mintmeister (8/5): Nice Experience - Moved here from Naples to Amalfi in order to walk the Path of the Gods and other local sights, hotel is very basic but that just adds to the charm. Friendly staff, who appear to either be related or just all live nearby! Hard to distinguish. The place has a feel to it like staying with relatives. The rooms are comfortable but very basic in decoration and certainly no mod cons.
Best thing was the food. We all (20 of us) ate here each night and the food was tremendous, home cooked and very tasty...
- neswstar (10/5): Saved our Bacon - We did not stay here but did have a wonderful homemade dinner our second night. The son and mother took good care of us. He speaks good English. Also, they saved us. We left our bag in the square and did not remember until an hour later. When we returned they had found it and kept it for us. Very gracious people.
- jeremyh975 (10/5): warm and friendly family run hotel - The warmth and hospitality we experienced exceeded all expectations!
What an absolute gem. Comfortable, clean accommodation. Italian home-cooking at it's best. Perfectly situated for hiking the Amalfi coast.
- sylfla01 (8/5): trekking trip on the Amalfi coast - Our family staid 3 nights in the Albergo Gentile as part of a walking holiday booked through a travel agency. We were half board and staid 3 days around 15/08 which is a big festival in Italy. Staying at the Albergo Gentile is like stepping back in time, somewhere around 1950's in Italy. The decoration of the rooms has probably not changed much since then but the bathrooms are up to modern standard. It is very clean and family run, so there is a special feeling about it. The half board option was an excellent surprise, with honest and plentiful good family food for the set dinner and 4 courses dinner the Italian way, starter (always including excellent bruschetta), primo piatti (homemade pasta), secundo piatti and dessert! The drinks are relatively cheap and there is a good choice. Our party of 5 was extremely hungry after the day of walk and we never left the table hungry anymore, quite the opposite. We add the additional benefit of being part of the local festivities as the Albergo is on the church square. We had a free concert of local music one night, a small firework another night. On 15/08 we had a problem as our program included taking coaches to and from the start/end points of the walk. Mario was extremely helpful, checking for us the coaches times and when we saw that there was none (!) he phoned a local taxi and help us to book our return trip for a very reasonable price. The albergo is otherwise very well placed for the walks but not at all on the seaside (30 to 40 min bus to the sea!) but there is a cheap daily shuttle to and from it.
If you want a fashionable place, the Albergo Gentile is not for you but if you want a simple, authentic place, with a family feeling you should definitively give it a go
- heathers227 (8/5): Had a wonderful time - Thank you to Mario and his father and uncle for a great holiday. The hotel is clean and comfortable and set in a lovely little village, away from the glitz of Amalfi and Positano.
The food was brilliant, and my strange diet was well catered for.
The home-grown wine was brilliant.
A truly great Italian experience.
- 12RPB (8/5): Great hotel in a nice town - Like others we stayed as part of a walking holiday for 4 nights. The hotel is really nice. Set on the town square which was always busy with people. Our room overlooked the square and sitting out on the balcony in the evening watching local life go by was so relaxing. Food was good, breakfasts simple but filling, dinners featured local produce cooked excellently, we looked forward to each course. Walking was good straight from the hotel door, but to really explore get the Agarola hiking guide book from the hotel or information shop opposite, it features brilliant maps and descriptions in English. Mario has been mentioned in other reviews, he's very good, and nothing is to much trouble for him. Overall great hotel, great location, we'd return anytime.
- SonoftheDesert (8/5): Charming Family Hotel - Like many other reviewers we too stayed at this family-run hotel for 4 nights as part of a self-guided walking holiday organised through Walks Worldwide. On our arrival there was only my wife and I and 2 other guests, who were leaving the next morning. For the next 2 nights my wife and I were the only guests which felt a little odd but strangely amusing, especially at dinner in the evening when the Italian "Deal or No Deal" was on the tv in the dining room, watched avidly by the family. For our last night we were joined by a large group of walkers and other guests which boosted the atmosphere of the hotel and the staff even donned waiter/waitress style uniforms. Mario, who is the only English speaker in the family was very helpful and I see he has been mentioned positively in other reviews as well.
The hotel really grew on us and it is ideally suited for a number of fantastic walks in the area, including the "Path of The Gods" and "The Canyon of Furore". Access to Amalfi is easy by bus and there are ferries from there or Positano for Capri. Doesn't seem to be much in Agerola itself but after a days walking you are quite happy to settle into the hotel for dinner. Food is plentiful if not particularly exciting and breakfast is "continental" with delicious oranges and kiwi fruits which we usually took with us on our walks.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, after initial reservations it turned out to be just perfect for our needs.
- JaneN818 (8/5): A friendly family run hotel - We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Gentile as part of a self-guided walking tour of the area.
This is a traditional hotel where the whole family take care of the guests. We were well looked after. I have many food allergies and the breakfasts and dinners provided catered very well for my problems. They took the time to check what was suitable.
We had a large room with a sunny balcony overlooking the town square. It was a quiet location- we quite enjoyed having the church clock nearby.
This hotel is ideally suited to local walks and is close to bus connections to Amalfi and the coast.
Unfortunately the weather was mostly cold and wet whilst we were there.
- Contessabelle (6/5): Italian country hotel reasonably well located - We spent four nights at Hotel Gentile on our "self-guided walking tour". Agerola is central to several key locations and a nice family town. Our travel package included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was 'continental' and the same every morning--no meat or cheese. Dinners all had almost the same appetizer and fruit for dessert. The primi course was the best--very good pasta dishes. TV's in rooms minimal and wifi only in central office area. Rooms were basic but very clean and we stayed in the back through the grape arbor. The church bells made you very aware of the time.
That said, we liked Mario very much and the location on the central square was a great window on the local scene. The hotel was steps away from the "Path of the Gods", truly a lovely walking experience overlooking the coast although it was not a long path and if you do the 1700 steps into Positano at the end, good luck. The bus is an option to descend.
I think two or three nights would be a good length stay at Hotel Gentile.
- NormES (8/5): Simple but very Pleasant - A large group of us enjoyed our stay here.
We had rooms in the annexe at the rear - pretty basic but fine.
Breakfast offered little in the way of choice but was filling enough.
Evening meal (part of our package) was really good - simple, local food - delicious and plenty of it.
Staff friendly & quirky - good fun.
Bomerano is not a buzzing place - but the location is excellent for walks from the hotel, and there is a decent bus service (just watch the one-way return into town).
A truly family-run hotel.
