Guest Reviews
- Jasmine (8/5): - Clean room, no kettle or iron in the room though. Clean bathroom. The hotel is in a great location and staff were friendly. Paid breakfast was available.
- Daniel (4/5): - The check in was actually at a different hotel across the road (and a much nicer one at that).
My room was basic, though clean and the bed was comfortable.
The problem was that the building was very old and had no soundproofing. I was on the 1st floor, so I could hear every noise (including all movement, etc.) from the upper room, which was very disturbing for my sleep. It also sounded structurally unsafe due to the creaky floorboards (even though it was probably fine
- Beverley (10/5): Visiting Mont Saint-Michel - Great location for train connections and bus to Mont Saint-Michel. Great range of bars and restaurants with in easy walking distance?
- Richard (2/5): - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
Arrived to find the building looking near derelict with paper stuck over the inside of the ground floor windows, no pavement outside the reception door (just mud), the reception door was locked but with a notice saying that reception was at a different hotel. This hotel was just around the corner but only found that out after putting the address into my sat nav.
Went to this other hotel where they eventually confirmed our booking and told us our room was in the Hotel de France but parking and restaurant was at this hotel. We were given a key and a code to enter the building. After dragging our cases from one place to the other and through the mud, got into the building. The reception desk was there but the place was deserted and did not appear to have any staff present at all.
The room had no heating and the hot tap and shower had to be run for a good 10 minutes before the water started to get warm. I appreciate that hotels usually fit a mattress protector to the beds but this one felt like it was made from a creased plastic sheet so sleeping on it was like sleeping on an uninflated air bad.
The following morning was awoken by the sound of construction machinery and upon attempting to exit the building found workmen digging up the kerbstones and the remains of the mud outside the only exit door.
This hotel should not be taking bookings while in this state and, with the complete lack of any staff on site, I suspect it may even be illegal.
- andrew (4/5): - Outside looked like an abandoned property
Parking was in one place reception in another,
When I arrived asked to see property to see if it really was a hotel.
Inside was ok, no shower curtain still under a state of remodel.
Wouldn’t recommend or stay here again
- jedrzej (10/5): - Staff was super kind, gave restaurant recommendations, room was clean and as expected.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel de france was under renovation. We were given a room in Hotel Arina. Good size room for family, clean and spacious. There was no aircondition in the room. It was a very warm day. It was noisy when the window was open. There is a rail track runing next to the hotel. There was no walkin shower, but shower handle in the bath tub but with no atrached shower curtain to the bath tub. It is more of a traditional home style rather than a modern hotel.
- Michael (10/5): Great hotel in charming French town - We had an amazing time at this comfortable hotel. We traveled as family four, the space was clean and well maintained. We appreciated the two spacious bedrooms, and spacious living areas. We would stay here again, one block away were tons of restaurants and a grocery. The breakfast served at the hotel was delicious.
- Clara (10/5): - Extremely helpful staff.
- Laiza (8/5): - The staff was accommodating to our needs.
- howard (10/5): - Actually stated in the hotek you check in with and it was great undercover parking forvuur motocycles
- Christoph (10/5): - Netter Empfang, ruhiges Zimmer, bequemes Bett, schönes Bad mit Wanne.
Bahnhofsnah mit Bus nach Mont Sant Michele.
- Lassaad (10/5): - We had a very nice stay.
- Linda (6/5): - It was all about location for us. Unfortunately, the hotel is located right by the train tracks. It was okay for noise until about five in the morning. The biggest issue was the bathroom smelled horrible. Musty and moldy, we had to go out and buy air freshener and a candle to kill the smell.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I booked for De France and and checked in in Ariana Hotel. I guessed they own both.
Only thing is 1 min walk to Pontorson- Mont St michel train station
- Roland (8/5): - We opted for this particular property for our overnight stay, which met our expectations. Our room spanned two floors, with the second floor featuring two beds, but just one bed would have given us more space, which would have been perfect for our needs. The convenience, cleanliness, and normal-equipped amenities made our stay enjoyable.
We were particularly impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. The property's location was near various restaurants and charming neighbouring buildings. Additionally, it was only a swift 2-minute walk from the train station, and the 30-minute bus ride (3E20) to Mt. St Michel made it an ideal choice for travellers on a budget.
Considering all these factors, the pricing was just right for our budget-conscious journey. We had a wonderful experience here and would highly recommend it to fellow travellers.
- Maggie (10/5): - Excellent location. Quaint hotel and excellent value for money.
- Alberto (6/5): - Oldish hotel with no frills. Reception not on site but at a nearby hotel.
- Shukdeb (6/5): - Location is safe and close to the railway station. The owner is a nice person. One problem I encounter during my stay at this hotel was no hot water for shower. Please fix this problem.
Thanks
- Camryn (8/5): - Location is great because it is by the train. No shower curtain so get water everywhere and my clothes got wet
- James (10/5): - Great place to stay for Mont St Michel visit. Fridge would have been nice but quiet and comfortable.
- colin (8/5): - helpful staff; this hotel is adjacent to hotel ariane, and same staff run both, so i was actually put in a bigger room in hotel ariane (upgrade)
- Paul (10/5): Excellent Location and very nice rooms - Although we booked the Hotel De France, the Hotel owner asked us to stay at the Hotel Ariane just around the corner which seemed a better prospect at the same price. The bath was small but the room was very cosy and very nice. We had an excellent stay and the Hotel is in an excellent location for the Mont St Michel and the village facilities. We thought that the Continental breakfast was expensive but otherwise a very good place to stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There was no AC - but it is understandable since it gets cold during the night. However, I had to leave the window open but it was quite noisy.
There was a huge spider in the room, and I killed it myself but it was a bit traumatic since it was founded on my pillow.
The service was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - location is good and very closed to train station, where the bus to saint michel waiting/stop. a short walk to main street to find restaurants/stores. room is small and basic but clean. check it/out at other hotel but very close and staffs are helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A little concerning when it looks run down from the outside and no lights on . The note on the door with where to go and the friendly guy that set us up was great
- Verified traveler (6/5): convenient location - convenient location to railway station, room itself is reasonable but had very loud noises through the ceiling when people moved around upstairs, which went late into the night and disturbed my sleep!
- Jill (6/5): - Very convenient to the train station. The trains run very seldom ( none overnight) so no noise). The walls must be very thin in the hotel as you can hear everything from all netghbouring rooms and the hallway. Lack of privacy because others can hear you too.
There is no reception desk at all at the hotel (no staff on site). You have to go to the nearby Hotel Adriane to check in or for any needs.
- Jennifer (8/5): Nice, small room in quiet town near Mont St Michel - Nice little place in Pontorson. Super easy to get to Mont St Michel by bus 2 blocks from the hotel (at the train station - 2.60 Euro/Person each way). The reception staff is extremely kind, allowing us to leave bags early and late. The room is small, but we had a lovely roof window. In many ways, you get what you pay for. This is an inexpensive room, so there should be no surprise that it is small (European standard), and that the hotel is a little older and showing some wear. Things were clean and appointed as advertised.
