Guest Reviews
- Wolf (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katerina (10/5): Great property! - Great location, very clean, very friendly staff, cozy and amazing views !
- Lena (8/5): Good pick if you’re on a budget - Prime location…cross the bridge & you’ll
be @the train station, Coop grocery & souvenir stores. Place is basic with no frills. Would like if they provided shampoo & shower gel but that’s ok. It’s a hostel. Can’t expect amenities like a 3 or 5 star hotel.
Kitchen’s well equipped. We prepared our own meals. There are bins in the fridge for each room so there’s no mix up of groceries.
Highly recommend this place. Rates are reasonable! Would be nice if shampoo & shower gel were provided
- Marie (8/5): Overnight stay - Good location. Very clean and felt at home
- Vivien (9/5): Superb -

- Nadia (7/5): Good - The room and the common bathrooms were very clean.
Nice location, very quiet and close to the little village and the waterfall, one of the main attractions.
The bakery makes the best cinnamon rolls in Norway!
- Nancy (10/5): Close to what we wanted to do! - Convenient and clean
- Diego-fernando (8/5): Very good - The location is perfect Only one bathroom for 10 rooms
- Hua (9/5): Superb - Flåm Hostel has a great location, the room was spotless, and the common areas were also very clean and well-maintained. The price was very reasonable—honestly, everything was perfect. Highly recommended! Absolutely nothing. I loved everything about my stay!
- Tamara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirit (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): Excellent stay! - It was clean and easy to find-the facilities were very nice. Towels were easy to rent and overall excellent value!
- Ann (7/5): We were very happy there for one night. - It was well organised and had some food available for breakfast and supper if wanted. We had a room in a house and it was a bit noisy either with other guests just chatting in the kitchen or people quietly going to bed in a room next door.
- Lena (8/5): Ideal location & place is comfortable - Location to Flam Hostel is great-5 mins walk from train & ferry station. Close to Coop supermarket as well as pick up for shuttle services.
Kitchen’s big so people can spread out to have their meals. There are 2 stoves, 2 sinks, pots, pans & utensils to use. Plastic bins are assigned to every room so everything’s organized.
Rooms are decent. Only wish there’s bathroom soap provided. Other than that, I’d not complaints. Would recommend staying here for convenience & comfort. Wish there’s bathsoap
- Izabella (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location, close to main area. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Warm and comfortable room. Perfect for a one night stay.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great - quiet, with good views. The room was clean, including the ensuite. The kitchen facilities were good. The cafe attached to the site was also very convenient. No issues.
- Tiwaporn (8/5): Value for money for a short stay to visit Flam. - Value for money for a short stay to visit Flam.
- Doctor (10/5): incredible city name FLAM. - this is a big hotel. easy to find with they map given. FLAM is amazing city. big kitchen. can check in early. nothing because i stay only one night
- Qing (7/5): Good -
- Simonsrna (10/5): Very pleasant stay in Flam -
- Richard (9/5): Wonderful value for visiting a UNESCO heritage site. - Very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Close to train station; could walk over with luggage. Wonderful small village of Flåm fantastic for fjord tours and enjoying unesco site. As a hostel, no extras - pay for towels, make your own beds, bring own shampoo & hair dryer etc.
- Emmerentia (9/5): Superb -
- William (7/5): A very clean youth hostel with spartan amenities - The accommodation was very clean. The accommodation is close to shops, restaurants, museum and ferry terminal. Hearing people walking around in the floor above us. The accommodation is a youth hostel. If it was advertise as such, the minimal amenities, the need to make your bed and extra fees for towels would become unsurprising. Booking youth hostels directly with discounts for student cards or Eurail passes may be a better option.
- Marg (8/5): Very good -
- Lydia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katarzyna (10/5): Great location, great facilities - Location
- Carlos (10/5): Explore the Flåm region and enjoy a fjord cruise. - All was fine. I had a pleasant stay in Flam.
- Karen (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Flam - Great location, there's even food to purchase on site, breakfast and supper. Stayed in a 4 bed room with bathroom. We were 2 people, but maybe with 4 it would be a bit crowded. Did laundry there, you can rent towels and purchase laundry tokens and soap.
- Carlos (10/5): Visit Flam Region and cruise in the Fjord. - All was fine, I had a pleasant stay at the hotel.
- Karin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laiyoong (8/5): Very good - Nothing
- József (10/5): Clean and usable hostel at a scenic spot. - It was spot on clean and we had a nice room with forest view. The kitchen was clean, but not everyone cleans the same way. However, this did not impact our journey and it has nothing to do with the hostel services.
- Hei (8/5): enjoy my stay in Flam. Will stay in same hostel for my re-visit. - helpful staff. location close to train station & pier. Clean & reasonble price. nothing.
- Arnadda (9/5): Homestay vibe with nice view and private bathroom available. - - The location, not far from the train station by walk, surrounding by beautiful nature.
- The shared kitchen, fridge and facility, very convenient if you’d love to prepare your own meal.
- The checkout process, just drop the key in the box.
- Private bathroom available as an option.
- Optional extra towels are also available, if you haven’t brought ones. The hostel’s name in the sign is different from the name used in booking.com, so you might be confused in the first place but just keep calm and follow the map. The staffs are available at the checkin point in the small house in front of the place, close to the road.
Otherwise, everything is perfect.
- Maria (9/5): Superb - The beds were more comfortable than some fancier accommodations we've stayed at on this trip. Very nice staff. Everything sparkling clean. Very cosy room. the shower made the floor in front of the toilet very wet. it would have been nice to have a soap dispenser in the showers
- Eric (8/5): Very good - Beautiful flowering garden view. Clean and neat room. You have to bring your own towels or rent them at 25KR each. You need to be athletic to climb easily into the upper bunk. Ceiling too close to upper bunk
- Vincent (7/5): Good - Comfortable room size with kitchen facility in common area. Bed was comfortable. 2 windows in room for good ventilation. I didn't expect the Shared Toilet and shower in a separate building away from the lodging. Photo attached.
- Kuang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgina (10/5): Loved it, view of the mountains was superb - The setting, the cabin style The rooms could do with blackout curtains or ones that cover the whole window
- Saroj (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Karin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (10/5): Great location - Spotlessly clean. Comfortable room. Excellent communal lounge and kitchen/dining room.
The location is amazing and the staff friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend. Nothing
- Cheryl (7/5): Good -
- Khin (8/5): Very good - location is perfect, a few minutes from train and boat as well as Flam centre property mistakenly charged double even thought room fee was prepaid
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Excellent location. Excellent checkin. Clean. Perfect for a night's stay. Wanted to eat burgers before we departed but only serve them for dinner.
- Jill (9/5): Superb - Close to bus & train, easy registration, kitchen well set up, room adequate Nothing
- Tanawat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikhil (9/5): Superb - It's maintained very well, located right at centre, but away from noise. It is very quaint. The common kitchen is quite good.
- Jayanta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Herman (8/5): Reasonably priced; good accommodation; great location - Perfect location for the town and the area. Kitchen / social area is really good. Grounds are well kept. Very quiet. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. It does not seem possible to put the mattress into the bottom sheet ... which is like a BIG pillow case.
- Yah (10/5): Beautiful view from the window! - We stayed at the Flåm hostel and booked a 6-bunk cabin just for the two of us, which gave us plenty of space. The cabin had a shared kitchen, and there were two other guest rooms in the same building. The toilet and shower were located outside, just a short walk away.
At check-in, we were given pillowcases and bed linen, and you’re expected to remove them yourself upon check-out. The view from the window was amazing – surrounded by flowers and nature. It feels more like a camp park, peaceful and relaxed. About a 10–15 minute walk to Flåm station. A great spot if you’re looking for something simple and close to nature.
- Ben (7/5): Great Value in Flåm - Check in was quick and easy. The location is great, within walking distance of the ferry port with immaculate views of the mountains all around and it's a quick walk down the road to the Brekkefossen Trailhead. There's also a convenient restaurant at the entrance with excellent burgers. The rooms could have had better curtains- most of the hotels I've stayed at in Norway have blackout curtains to help deal with the long hours of sunlight but this location seems to have regular curtains which isn't ideal. Additionally bath towels are an extra charge.
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- Dorishah (8/5): A gem in Flåm - We were pleasantly suprised by the facilities. The room with a private bathroom was quite comfortable. The kitchen was spacious, complete and clean. The refrigerator was nicely compartmentalised to store food according to rooms. The dining area was also spacious. If you are travelling on a budget, this is a good place to stay. Towels had to be rented. It would be better if it is part of the room charges
- Rachel (10/5): I’ve never stayed in a hostel before but this was excellent and would definitely recommend - How clean it was
- Baxter (7/5): Good -
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eugénie (9/5): Superb - Greta placement, nice peoples, possibility to leave your luggage for the day. Nice quality/price ratio especially for norway
- Jitchanok (8/5): Very good -
- Yeju (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (8/5): Very good -
- Kattalee (9/5): Superb -
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Olga (10/5): Lovely and clean hostel - The hostel was even nicer than expected! Room was very clean and cozy, in the bunk bed the lower bed was actually a double. Bathroom clean and big enough. Nice to have a communal kitchen we cooked our dinner. Very central in Flam. N/A
- Sachin (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (8/5): Very good -
- Orrada (8/5): Very good -
- Dillon (10/5): Exceptional - Location and facilities were fantastic Nothing to complain about
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Veronica (7/5): Good - Top notch location 5 minutes’ walk from Flam centre & railway, room to ourselves Bed linen included, but you have to pay NOK50 for towels
- Jepson (8/5): Clean and quite. -
- Niamh (8/5): Very good -
- Danna (9/5): Superb -
- Simona (9/5): Superb - The position was very convenient and the room was very cute and nice. Maybe there should be a place to leave the shoes in the entrance so that people don’t come inside with shoes and get the floor dirty (since it rains most of the time)
- Emelin (10/5): I liked staying, it was quiet and pleasant - The location, town and everything They didn’t provide shower soap
- Madhuvanesan (9/5): Superb -
- Diksha (9/5): Amazing, worthwhile stay when in Flam! - Well located and maintained with clean rooms and kitchen
Helpful staff
Luggage storage facility available if you want to explore Flam post checkout Nothing as such
- Wong (10/5): very nice! - The common kitchen is very nice and well-organised. Room is very clean and enough space for 4 people.
Easy to find the property.
- Erikas (8/5): Very good -

- Shah (7/5): Great - Room and the stay. Everything was good.
- Lea (8/5): Very good - Wonderful location near beautiful fjord, good value for money Someone was talking very loudly late at night, hard to sleep. Apart from that everything was fine.
- Kumari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christophe (10/5): Flåm, the place where the Mountains cries à lot - Accommodation : Tusen takk Marte for welcoming me at your hostel. i loved my room, so peaceful and all around was surely wet wet and wet, but so so Nice and so so beautiful. Team cleaners are actively present, i saw them everyday. Thank you for tidying the common places.
Situation : great situation from everything
Garden : thanks for sharing the apples. j'ai fait de la bonne compote. Practical things : as it is a wet place:
- maybe something to put at the entrance to come in without leaving mud or water on the floor.
- and also something to put wet umbrellas and wet raincoat at the entrante
- Priya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lu (8/5): I use hairpin closed the gap of curtain - Love this place, the room is comfortable and the view is beautiful. But if you live on the ground floor, please keep the doors and windows closed and the curtains drawn. I accidentally opened the window late at night and found that the smoke outside the window was very, very strong, and there was a figure not far away. When I went out to check, the person was gone. According to the strong smell of smoke, it can be judged that the person stood outside my window for a long time. Not far away is the smoking area, so this person is very suspicious. I stood outside my window and could see the room through the gap in the curtains, which scared me.
- Chanita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Great value, beautiful location. - Think guesthouse, not hostel. Very clean, room small but sufficient. Bed was very comfortable. The shared kitchen and living room area were very nice. The location was beautiful.
They had a little outdoor dining area and they sold pizza in the evening. I didn't try it but the set up was very cute! There were also some outdoor activities. The shower was downstairs.
I stayed in a room with shared bathroom and the room was upstairs. Unsure if there are ground level rooms for people with mobility issues. There may have been cabins available too.
- Takashi (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable beds and spotless bath. I'm impressed to find such a nice place to stay at a youth hostel!
- Acharika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daisy (9/5): Superb -
- Imelda (7/5): Very good -
- Martyna (10/5): Exceptional - One of the best hostels I've ever been in. So clean, so beautiful, so comfortable (especially bed) and so close to Flåm station and beautiful views! Recommended for everyone.
