Mycket trevlig personal
- Poppy (8/5): Lovely decoration, wonderful staff, excellent location. - We liked the people working there. All extremely helpful and friendly, made our stay enjoyable. The location was perfect, close to everything including the bus and train station. We really loved our room - its interior, size, and the view. 1. Very Poor internet connection.
2. The shower cabinet flooded every time we took a shower, and we had to map the bathroom floor.
3. Also a couple of nights we were cold due to low weather temperatures.

- Michael (10/5): Gute Wahl! Tradition, Komfort und herzliche Gastfreundschaft - Extrem freundliches Personal,
perfekte Lage (Bahnhof, Innenstadt, Hofgarten - alles nah),
Evtl. beim Check-in Wünsche ansprechen.
- Brent (10/5): Great hotel - Really nice hotel in the center of town. Breakfast was excellent. The room was large and well appointed, even if a little dated. There was a fan which is very rare in German hotels, but very helpful when it’s hot. Parking (on site) can be tough due to its location. Close to the train station as well. The staff was wonderful.
- Frances (7/5): 7/10 - Perfect location. Pet friendly. Helpful staff. Parking on site. Pricy. Room was smaller than expected. Very thin walls (we had our pet with us).
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Larochelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent hotel with easy access to Altstadt. - Our two-room suite overlooked the Promenade Street and palace. It was a great location for walking into the Altstadt. The staff was kind and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. While parking is available on site, it isn't abundant; and the dedicated parking spaces in the rear are very tight to access. You'll be more comfortable with a compact car if you plan to use these. You can also park in front of the hotel or along the nearby street for a fee.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - breakfast was good and location from station was excellent also location was good. nothing could have been better
- Marianne (9/5): Beautiful hotel in central location - Beautiful interior
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (10/5): - They have a fabulous breakfast (included) and were very accommodating with our early check out and even gave us a to go breakfast!
- José (9/5): The hotel and the city be worth a visit - The location was perfect, near the train station, and in front of the Residence Palace I didn't liked the fact there was nobody at the reception too soon at evening/night
- Michael (10/5): Great Hotel in a great location. - Location, friendliness and Breakfast ?
- Charles (9/5): Excellent visit. I’ve already told family members nearby and in USA to consider Der Platengarten. - Lovely accommodation! Very large room, and the bathroom was huge. Decor was just the right mix of antique without veering into “grandmama”. Oh, and the breakfast is absolutely wonderful! Eggs, sausages, cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, yogurt, juices, fresh jams, several different breads and croissants, juices — even delicious desserts. And there’s a coffee carafe at each table, or make your own espresso on the great machine in the lobby. Rugs in the hallways look a little worn, and they’re too short!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Inte prisvärt
- Frederick (10/5): Exceptional -
- wendy (10/5): Wonderful stay - Such a charming hotel run by exceedingly nice people.
- Ernest (10/5): Nice place good staff. - Just a nice place to stay, parking a little to be desired, but everything else makes up for that issue.
- Gisela (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful room in an excellent location
- Verified traveler (10/5): Platengarten Hotel - Our hotel here in Ansbach was amazing. We were given a corner suite that overlooked the square with a castle view. The windows completely opened to the sounds and gentle breezes of the town. The room was filled with antiques and unique lighting. There are only 24 rooms here that once were the rooms for the Consult's royal cavalry. The quarters had a carriageway between the quarters and offices but presently has been brought together as the hotel entrance and reception area. The breakfast room is classic European with delicious food. Room 15 and this place is special indeed.
- Robert (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. Perfect in every way.
- Fredrick (8/5): Very good - Nice old hotel very near town. Excellent parking. Nice big and cozy room. There were delays with checkin due to staff not being on site. Breakfast was ok.
- Raymond (9/5): Superb -
- Carrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional - An absolutely great location for seeing the city with a great breakfast, on-site parking, and a very helpful staff.
- Jacqueline (7/5): Good -
- Janet (8/5): Beautiful hotel with charming owner. - Lovely hotel a few minutes walk from the Aldstadt. All the rooms are unique...makes it very charming. Our room had a living area with a big TV. Step down to the bed and bath. Hostess, Melanie, is delightful and very engaging. Breakfast was lovely in a cozy room. Everything nice. Would stay again if in Ansbach. Because it's on a busy street, there was a little noise. Room was a bit warm at night since the windows were in the living room area of the room. Not enough to discourage us from staying there again if we were ever in town.
- Anamaria (7/5): central hotel and good for a short stay. - Location is great. Complimentary tea, coffee and water in the lobby is a nice touch.
Our room (11) was large and we had a bath which is a luxury nowadays.
Staff were friendly.
Breakfast was fairly standard but this is the first time in years of overnighting in Germany that the breakfast boiled eggs were soft. Yum. There is no parking and all nearby parking is very limited in the time allowed. We parked in the Brucken Centre overnight which was cheap. €3.70 for 20 hours. The carpark is closed from 8.30pm .
At €174 per night for a double -room, it is too expensive. There is no residents bar etc
- Guy (6/5): - Very old building heating wasn't working it was cold.
No staff availability most of the time. It took a while to call them until someone came to check us in.
Parking is challenging.
Location is great.
I will not stay again.
- Batmmpap (10/5): Unexpected addition to our bucket list! - In all our travels we have never felt so welcomed as we were at this hotel. They did everything imaginable to make our stay secure and comfortable. Each member of the staff treated us as if we were family. We had the courtyard room (#100) and felt like we had our own private hideaway.. Beautiful room, comfortable beds and intriguing antiques through out. The individual care by the women at the front desk made us feel like we were the only guests they were caring for. From the upscale breakfast to the 24 hr coffee and tea bar, this place has it all. We didn’t want to leave! Highly recommend.
- Frank (8/5): expensive for a little boutique hotel. - location. the staff were very nice. very expensive since it didn’t have a restaurant. there was no staff and they had to be called to check in. the first room’s heat wasn’t working and we had to call back and be moved. the breakfast was good. the parking was very hard to get into.
- Elvis (8/5): Great stay. - It was great, apart from the check in, we had to wait for 30min till the lady showed up. Apparently they still have limited times of the desk hours which is not great when you travelled all day and need to wait.
Apart from that everything else was perfect, very nice stylish hotel, awesome location (city center).
The breakfast was fantastic and the staff very very pleasant.
- Edward (9/5): Superb - Friendly and helpful staff, especially with parking
Good breakfast
Historic building/ lots of character
Great location, opposite the historic Residenz
Next door to historic orangey and formal gardens All good
- Lapukhov (9/5): Superb -
- Lori (10/5): Sweet and Romantic. - Very charming! Every detail is thought of here but the architecture inside and outside makes this place really special. The staff are kind and helpful. Special bonus is the great Indian Restaurant across the street. Perfect for a romantic get away.
- jameshZ5053RG (8/5): Very Comfortable & Excellent Value - In March, 2020 my wife and I spent one night at the Hotel Platengarten in Ansbach and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is an easy walk from the Ansbach Hbf and faces the city square. Our clean, well-appointed room was actually a small suite with a foyer, sitting room, bedroom and bath. The bed was very comfortable and the furniture very traditional German. Although our room looked out into the busy city square, our room was quiet.
Frau Schafer attended to our every need and laid out a delicious and varied breakfast buffet the next morning. Our only reason for not rating our stay a 5 was that the lighting in the bathroom was a bit lower than our aging eyes need for shaving and applying make-up, but we will definitely return to the Hotel Platengarten if we return to Ansbach.
Ansbach is a beautiful Bavarian town, very walkable with many easily accessible restaurants and shops.
- Addicted2Travel07 (10/5): Lovely Hotel - The hotel was centrally located, a short walk from the train station, with old world charm, a beautifully appointed room, spacious bathroom and a wonderful breakfast. My husband and I were only able to spend 1 night at Hotel der Platengarten, but we enjoyed our short stay.
- tempetownlake (10/5): amazing with great hosts - staff extremely helpful and caring with wife in wheelchair. we stayed two nights in the cottage in the courtyard. wife loved the idea of own space. hotel is walking distance from train station in direct route without twist and turns. walk into old town is basically across the street.
- srahko (10/5): A Step Back In Time - We stayed in Ansbach because 49 years ago we lived there for a year. We were fortunate to go back with our son and daughter to fulfill one of our "bucket list" items. We basically wanted to spend a few days here on our itinerary to bring back wonderful memories. This hotel was lovely and took you back in time with the wallpaper, lighting and furniture. Bathroom area is totally updated and beautiful. Our children gave us the "King and Queen" room as they called it. It is located on the Promenade, so pretty busy, but that did not bother us. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was the wonderful typical German fare with tasty breads, meats, fruit, jams, cereals and yogurt. The German and Austrian breakfasts put our American ones to shame. This hotel located steps from the beautiful park and not a far walk from the "old city". We enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it to anyone staying in Ansbach.
- erinbeth (10/5): Lovely centrally located hotel with amazing customer service. - This hotel was just lovely. You cannot beat it's location as it's walkable from the train station and in the center of Ansbach. We were a family of 3 visiting family in town. The hotel is beautifully decorated with the kindest and most helpful staff. Our room was very large and had a view of the Orangerie. It was warm in Ansbach but the room had 3 windows that opened and the cross breeze was great, and the room was very comfortable. They also had a fan in the room which I loved. The beds were comfortable and there was a couch in the room as well. The breakfast had a wide selection and was fresh and replenished when needed. Very good service as well.
Let me gush about the staff. They were friendly and patient with my husband's rusty German. One of the days we were in town was a holiday and they called around to find us a restaurant that was open. The last day we were there our 97 year old grandfather came to say goodbye and walk us to the train station and without a moment's hesitation they allowed him to eat breakfast with us free of charge.
Do not hesitate to stay here when visiting Ansbach!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Consistently great service - The staff here is always amazing! I needed to extend my stay and they were very helpful in moving things around to make room for me. I have stayed here numerous times, and only stay at other hotels when this hotel has no availability. In my opinion, this is the best hotel in the Ansbach area!
- MiguelC812 (8/5): Lovely hotel! - Stayed for 3 nights on a business trip, and loved the experience. The hotel is in an old building, very nicely restored. Rooms are all different, with individual charm. Though the building is old, fixtures and bathrooms are up to date. Breakfast was decent. Above all, all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 344pial (10/5): Charming and friendly hotel - Wonderful hotel, very friendly staff. Loved the decor. We stayed in a very elegant room with beautiful decor. Good location, very quiet. Service is friendly and old school just loved it. Absolutely wonderful breakfast. The soft boiled eggs had a smiley painted on them. All done up with a lot of love. would stay there anytime again.
- painciong22 (10/5): Charming, Elegant Hotel - Returned to Ansbach to rekindle fond memories of living there many, many years ago stationed at Bleidorn Kasern (up on the hill near the Hofgarten), I specifically selected the Platengarten for its proximity. Platengarten did not disappoint. Having an appreciation for things old, It is very quaint, charming, elegantly appointed and tastefully furnished with antiques. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the amenities, linens etc. would equate with any other four star hotel. Breakfast a German style buffet, was outstanding, laboriously prepared and elegantly presented. Equally important and pleasant is its' proximity to the old town and its' pedestrian streets, the Orangerie/Hofgarten and Train Station, all within a five minute walk of the hotel.
The staff (Frau Ibarra and Marina (sp?) were very nice and helpful. We were originally assigned a room that looked out to the Schloss Ptatz and the Residenze Place. While a wonderful view it was hot (no air conditioning) and at night very noisy due to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. We requested a quieter room and our request was readily granted and easily facilitated.
For those seeking to be waited on hand and foot, services are minimal. We stayed for three nights and hardly knew if anyone else were there it was so quite. The check in desk is not manned on a continual basis and assistance must be paged. There is an adjacent restuarant and bar but it did not appear to be operational. There is a beer garden as well where you can take your breakfast or have coffee, tea or water from a self serve table set up in the half way.
For my wife and I the hotel suited our needs perfectly and contibuted a very pleasant excellent experience in our return to Ansbach.
- TeeBow (8/5): Old School Hotel - The hotel has some years on it, that said it was comfortable, clean and quiet. It was a bit more than I expected to pay in that area but perhaps it is not so many hotels in the city. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The breakfast is good, esp the coffee. Easy walk to the train station and the old city.
- Travelmax5962 (10/5): Outstanding Location - Excellent Room - Stayed here in late September. We selected this hotel primarily for its location on the edge of the "old city" (is it really "old"? no matter, the pedestrian-only area is delightful), and 5 minutes walk from the train station. Plus, it is directly adjacent to the Hofgarten Ansbach.
Auto parking on the premises is tight, but at least it IS available (unlike some other places). Our room was a short walk-up to Room 33. The room was terrific. NOTE: I have no idea what the "view" was from the window in the room, since we don't spend our time in the room gazing outside; instead, we are out of the room visiting the town and the people! (So, why do some other commenters complain about the "view"?)
The staff is unbelievably helpful and accommodating. You don't need dozens of staff in a hotel like this.....the two staff persons we dealt with were entirely sufficient and very gracious.
Spacious room, great breakfast, terrific staff, fabulous location....easily earning a 5-star rating from us! Highly recommended.
- Paarmo (8/5): Excellent with a couple of small buts ! - Looks traditional from the outside and continues inside with what appears to be antique furniture. Really well appointed. However , our bathroom was completely the opposite and was state of the art. A complete and welcome surprise. Fridge ( minibar ? ) in the room and free and very good wi fi.
Now the buts. Finding staff on an evening is difficult and is operated by pager. There is a bar but because staff are at a premium it is not really open so if you want a nightcap then do it elsewhere. The doors are locked at 10pm.
The other but is very minor. I drink tea rather than coffee but the only teas on offer were fruit teas or fragrant teas. Bring your own teabag.
Breakfast was a very good cold buffet with the usual cold meats and cheese etc.
There is traffic noise with the windows open but that is because the streets are cobbled . It didn't bother us at all and of course the Hotel is ideally placed in the town.
- MissRich64 (10/5): Familial, charming, and a few meters from the Old Town area - I'm staying in the hotel now, for two weeks. Reservations and check-in were simple, and the hotel emailed back and forth a couple times to ensure I had the room I wanted, when I wanted. I am in a single room with a balcony that overlooks the charming courtyard. The room itself is bright and clean, with a small refrigerator, closet, desk, tv, and beautiful antique bed. My cat is staying with me, and the hotel staff have been very kind and also careful when cleaning the room.
The staff here are the absolute stars, the reason to come to this hotel. The two sisters who work here lived in the US previously, and they speak impeccable English and are helpful and friendly, as is the young man, who also studied in the US.
Small touches make the difference and make you feel like a cherished guest: there is a self serve refreshments bar in the lobby, where you can have a cappuccino from the machine, a hot tea, some bottled water, juice, or even drop a fizzing multivitamin tablet into a glass of water. There is a small courtyard where you can sit and eat or drink or enjoy the internet, and the hotel is bordered by a beautiful gardens, just a few steps from the courtyard, that should not be missed. Breakfast is a treat, with a wide selection of fresh-baked breads and jams, cheeses, meats, yogurt, nuts, sweets and cookies, and (my favorite) eggs with sweet happy faces drawn on.
If you want to partake of some of Ansbach, the location can't be beat - you cross two streets and you have many, many blocks of restaurants, bakeries, shops, gelaterias, churches, museums, and more at your disposal. It's maybe a 10 minute walk to the mall.
- missilegirl (10/5): Charming with every comfort - My husband and I really enjoyed our two night stay here. Our room was large and decorated with sturdy antiques. The bathroom had heated floors (loved that!) and a separate shower and tub. We had free wifi in the room as well. We were very comfortable.
There were many selections at the breakfast buffet. The coffee was rich and strong. We also had on site parking but this is where I will caution you... most of the parking spots are small. We had an Audi A4 and it was a very tight squeeze.
The staff were friendly and eager to please. I really enjoyed chatting with the folks that work at the hotel. Lots of smiles.
The location is great. It's very close to old town and situated right next to the Orangerie park.
We will definitely stay here again. It was worth every penny.
- lindagY4454QO (8/5): Very nice stay - I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff was really nice and understanding. The room was very cute. It was like staying in my own castle room having a separate bedroom and tv room. The bathroom was great! Very spacious compared to other hotels I've stayed at. Will definitely return to this hotel. Parking was limited and very tight too park, but the breakfast was well worth it!
- MaryZ801 (10/5): Wonderful hotel in Ansbach! - We (two couples) have stayed at Hotel Platengarten in Ansbach twice now. It is a great hotel located within walking distance of Ansbach's wonderful sights. It is also close to the train station if you are not traveling with a car. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast buffet is delicious!
- Silvalou77 (6/5): It Could Have Been Better - Our four night stay was unfortunately not very enjoyable. We were in room 100, which is located in a separate small building in the back courtyard of the hotel. The room was well furnished but otherwise dark and uninviting. There was no view at all. The bathroom by itself was nice, however the door to the bathroom is made out of lightly tinted plexi glass and didn't close properly. The person in the room could clearly see the person in the bathroom - either the knees of the person sitting on the toilette or a full view of the person in the shower with clear sound effects. We asked to be put in to a different room, but the person in charge said that the room we are in is really nice and that she can't accommodate us otherwise.
The staff ( Mr. Gutierrez) was very nice and helpful. The breakfast room is charming with beautiful dishes and linens, but the breakfast itself is mediocre.
- joannas433 (8/5): Lovely hotel - The hotel is well situated in Ansbach, which is in itself a good location from which to explore the Romantic Road in Bavaria. The staff were friendly and helpful and there are lots of pleasing historical features to the building. Parking in the grounds is tight, but on-street parking is plentiful and cheap. To mention that there isn't much outside space is almost churlish, were it not an opportunity to point out that the hotel is surrounded on two sides by the beautiful Hofgarten park with its Orangery café. It was good value for money, and I would definitely stay here again if in the area.
- JimandJulieM (10/5): True Old World Charm in Ansbach - Loved our four night stay at the Platengarten in Ansbach. We arrived by train, and found the hotel was an easy 3-4 minute walk from the Ansbach station. The hotel is also just a few minutes from many Ansbach restaurants and shops so it's just a great location. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed the traditional German breakfasts each day in the beautiful breakfast room. All the small details seemed to be anticipated making for a wonderful experience in Ansbach.
