Guest Reviews
- Jake (3/5): Would not stay again - Staff were friendly, bed was soft THE SMELL WAS AWFUL!! Made it difficult to sleep it was so bad
- Tognoni (8/5): -
- Roland (7/5): We did not spend much time at the room. It was a place to spend the night, not a destination. - The property is in pretty good shape, for an older property. The location was good. The tv didn’t work and the thermostat on the wall appeared to be broken.

- Smith (8/5): - It was clean and staff were amazing I did get super itchy from the bed
- Cunningham (7/5): -
- Loren (7/5): Fulfilled it's purpose. If we had to stay wound there again. We would not shy away. - It was clean. It was not the fault of the facility. Out neighbors were arguing periodically throughout the night.
- Alec (2/5): - Debbie at check in was very helpful and pleasant. They property has been run down and kept together with bandaid. For the money , it is not such a good deal.
- Regine (3/5): Lieber vermeiden - Nichts wirklich Es hat schrecklich gerochen, total altmodische Ausstattung, völlig überteuert, wir waren erst sehr spät um 21.55 Uhr angekommen und es gab kaum Alternativen
- Gove (8/5): Older roadside motel clean and comfy! - Room was clean and spacious with real blankets on the bed. Nice green area to walk your dog.
- Thomas (9/5): - Room was clean and comfortable. Nothing
- Miranda (7/5): -
- Simon (6/5): Convenient stop-over between Teton NP and SLC airport - Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Nice walk down to the lake down quiet residential streets.
- Cera (10/5): Easy, stress-free, and super accommodating. - The staff was super helpful and very pleasant. They made the stay as simple and hassle free as possible! I was just staying overnight and left super early to continue my travels. They were able to accommodate my departure at such an early hour stress free. I 100% will stop back back if I'm ever traveling through the area again.
- Felicia (10/5): Amazing AC - Really great air conditioning, being from AK it is normally hard to have your room be the right temperature but I actually had to turn it down because I was getting cold! Everything was very clean and even though it’s not listed on the amenities shown on hotels.com there was a small fridge.
- Berson (10/5): - It was clean Nothing
- Donnie (10/5): -
- Macine (10/5): - Not much motels around here but I had a great stay no problems
- Joel (10/5): - Room was spacious and clean. I encountered no problems.
- Cassandra (7/5): Good budget place to stay, no frills but clean, affordable - Good for its purpose, no issues A little outdated
- Billie (8/5): - The water pressure in the shower is poor, need more blankets and pillows
- Robert (10/5): - The JR Inn is like a trip back in time to the days of yesteryear regarding road trips and highway travel. My wife and I stayed here for a night in mid-August 2025 while on vacation in Idaho and Wyoming. This place for sure rates in my top ten favorite motels of all time. Check-in was quick and painless. The room was clean and well-kept furnished with a microwave, small refrigerator and modern flat screen TV with satellite channels. The bathroom was in good working order in all facets (tub, shower, hot water, sink, toilet, etc.). The air-conditioner blew cold air all night long being more than powerful enough to keep the room cool on an August summer evening. The little courtyard area in the middle of the property with grass, trees and a picnic table was relaxing after a long day on the road. I don't know for sure, but this area looks like it might have been a swimming pool in earlier days. The motel website states that it has been in operation since 1965. Alot of history here and in the quaint little town of Soda Springs. For your dining convenience in Soda Springs, there is an Arctic Circle Burger, Subway, Taco Time and A&W (both inside a service station), Golden China Chinese restaurant, a snack bar inside the local bowling alley and also a diner and a pub up on Main Street. There are also gas and groceries in town. In summary and back to the motel, we enjoyed our quiet and relaxing one night stay here and will surely stay here again if ever in the area of Soda Springs.

- robg935 (10/5): Five stars and then some! - I was really impressed with the JR Inn in Soda Springs, Idaho for several reasons:
1. Old school motor hotel from the 1950s/60s - check.
2. Retro architecture outside and in that screams 1950s/60s - check.
3. Awesome old school light up sign out front that is great for photos - check.
4. A mom-and-pop (non-chain) operation - check.
5. Clean and well-maintained inside and out - check.
6. Friendly and attentive customer service - check.
7. Located in a small town along an old historic US highway - check.
Yes, the JR Inn is like a trip back in time to the simpler days of road trips and highway travel. It's a beacon out of yesteryear. My wife and I stayed here for a night in mid-August 2025 while on vacation in Idaho and Wyoming. We were on our way to Fossil Butte National Monument the next day in southwestern Wyoming and the JR Inn was a wonderful stop for the night along the way. This place for sure rates in my top ten favorite motels of all time. Beyond what has already been mentioned above, here are some other perks to the motel: The room was clean and well-kept furnished with a microwave, small refrigerator and modern flat screen TV with satellite channels. Check-in was quick and painless and Roxy, the friendly motel host dog, greeted us in the front lobby as we came in. The pleasant lady who checked us in stated that the motel has been family owned for over 60 years and the website states that it has been in operation since 1965. We chose the Arctic Circle Burger which was delicious. There are also gas and groceries in town. In summary and back to the motel, we enjoyed our quiet and relaxing one night stay here. The JR Inn will definitely be first on the list of places to stay if we are ever in this area of southeastern Idaho again at some point in the future.
- Mina (4/5): Not so great stay. - Heck in was fine. We got a restaurant recommendation that was great for travelers. We went to eat and when we got back it was after desk hours. The tub looked like someone rinsed something off and left the dirt. Then there were no bath towels. We tried to go to the front desk. There was a buzzer. We rang it no one was there. So luckily I carry a beach towel with me.
- Deserie (2/5): Not great - Was scared to sleep there it had me checking for bed bugs cuz it was pretty bad Bottom of the totem pole
- James (8/5): - Quite clean and comfortable beds. Shower handle was hard to turn— I thought it was going to break—my only complaint.
- Francesca (8/5): Unico posto disponibile… azzeccato! - La possibilità di un tetto!!!! La disponibilità della ragazza che ci ha accolto!!! Praticamente l’unica camera disponibile tra sud idaho e north utah nel trasferimento Teton-Arches national park!!!! Alla fine tutto perfetto!!!!
- charles (9/5): a convenient stop on a long road trip - dthe lady that checked me in was very nice and let me check in early. the coffee pot in the room was great/ nothing
- John (8/5): - The JR Inn is a picture-perfect example of a mid-20th century "Atomic Age" motel, From the arrowhead-shaped sign to the layout of a ring of rooms with a central green courtyard, to the 60's style of furniture inside, and real metal keys in the doors.
No one was at the office to receive us upon arrival, so I had to go find a housekeeper working and get her to check us in. She did it well, though.
We liked the ability to park our car directly in front of our room.
Chairs and several barbecue grills were placed on the sidewalk in front of the rooms which would be ideal for socializing with the other guests (if people still did that) - a nice touch.
There was a basketball goal in the courtyard for pick-up games that would be good for the kids to work off energy after being shut in the car all day.
The courtyard was also a great place to exercise your pet.
One downside was the "portable" air conditioner unit that exhausted through a front window. It was noisy and blew directly toward the bed. I got up during the night and turned it when I got tired of the draft.
But the room was clean, the plumbing worked, the bed was comfy and it was quiet and restful. I liked it!
- WEI (10/5): - Very spacious room. Nice people around in town. A very good Mexican restaurant nearby. It is also convenient to get things you need in this town.
- Roxan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Terri (4/5): - The bathroom was clean.
The bedding appeared clean.
The water was COLD in the shower, and the carpet was gross and needed to be replaced. It appears too many pet incidents have occurred.
- Clark L. (6/5): - Bathroom fan needs changed.
- Gonzalez (10/5): All in all was good - Close to work It a bit overpriced, but it’s a good stay due to the mines being so close by. I didn’t like how I am paying more at the counter then thru booking app
- Bartosz (8/5): Very good -
- Corta (8/5): Very good -
- shauna (6/5): - Low economy room. Hot
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Was late when we got there but at our arrival we saw at the office the phone to call and less then 6 minutes we were imoad
- Katherine (8/5): - Quaint accommodations. Vintage fixtures.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ok - Needed alot of updates, but was ok!!
- Cassandre (10/5): - Clean, and retro feel
- Cynthia (8/5): Very good -
- Bagchi (7/5): Decent place to stay for the night. - Good value for the price. It was dilapidated. Stuff was breaking down. Not sure if proper vetting was done for the occupants as no one checked ID.
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Seal (7/5): Good -
- Amy (4/5): Last resort - The flooring was new but the rest of the motel was run down. The small fridge, no matter the setting, always froze what we put in it. The alarm clock had no outlet to plug it into. Microwave was next to the bed on the nightstand. The deadbolt did not work.
- Austin (10/5): - Staff worked with us on coming in late and the process was super easy.
- Amber (5/5): Not bad for a place to lay your head but definitely and old hotel - Liked the larger room and cheap price. Carpet in rooms was gross. I wore sandals to walk around.
- Thomas (4/5): - Great place if you are into stepping back to the 1950’s. We had problems getting there so arrived very late. Wasn’t sure if we’d actually get into the room but the lady DID finally come out to give us a key. Checkout was at 11:00. We REALLY needed to sleep until 10:30 but we’re awakened at 9:00 by the cleaning lady. Never happens in the good hotels. That ruined what little sleep we got. Then workers talking very loudly outside the door, banging, lawn mowers running. Impossible to sleep after 9:30 so we packed up and left. This was the noisiest hotel we’ve ever stayed at when I mentioned that to one of the workers he said and I quote “ there’s a better hotel just down the road” never again, JR Inn!
- Edward (10/5): - Easy access. Friendly staff
- Christina (10/5): - Our stay was great. It was quiet and very home feeling
- Robert (6/5): Rundown Motel - This is a run down hotel. The room smelled like a museum. The T V didn’t work. No shampoo was provided. The soap was low quality.
- Shelby (7/5): Good -
- Claudia (9/5): Great!! - Great value, great location the place can use some updates but everything else was great.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I booked the room online through Hotels.com. On the info it said check in starts at 3pm and check out is 11am. Well I arrived, shortly after 9pm and there was a note on the door saying ring bell for management. So I did, a few times, a few minutes apart. No one came. So I called, no one answered either time. So I am out the money I spent for that room, and had to pay twice as much for the other room!
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (8/5): - Customer service here is amazing. All the ladies were so kind! The only thing I will say is that the pillows on the bed were so flat, the shower got cold so fast, and there was no shampoo. Other than that, we had a great experience.
- Jerrica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ray M (8/5): - This a great value if you are staying in Soda and need a clean room and bed. My wife had surgery at the local hospital and Deb and her crew provided the perfect experience for what I needed!
- Rick (10/5): Great stay - Great stop friendly band clean room
- Clay (8/5): - Great places to stay close to Lava
- Janelle H (10/5): - Needed a last minute place to stay and this was about all there was. Happy I stayed.
- Andrea (9/5): Superb - Room was clean.
- Kristynn (10/5): - The room was nice. Beds were soft and comfortable. Will stay here again when were are in town
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional - Clean rooms, friendly staff N/a
- Sherry (8/5): Very good - no breakfast
coffee machine didn't work saa
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional - Office staff was very friendly and letting us extend our stay at last minute we were so pleased with the friendly house keeping who made sure we had extra blankets pillows and towels went out of their way to clean our room to make sure it was ready for us and made extra sure we had everything we needed over all they were all friendly staffed love staying here every year for our hunting trip It was kinda bright just wished it was darker at night but that's y they make face mask for sleeping
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - The beds were comfortable. It had good water pressure. The carpet was filthy. Tub and sink was not clean. I think nothing has been done to it since it was built probably 50 years ago. It had 8.6 rating. I don’t think so.
- Tamra (5/5): Passable - 👍🏻 Only 1 thin blanket, nasty carpet, terrible thin, hard TP, I should have brought my own!
- Katherine (4/5): Disappointing - the location is easy to find in town and it is near everything. i appreciated that they made bringing dogs easy, they provided poop bags and had very welcoming signs in the front office. the walls are very thin, when we arrived our neighbor was blasting the TV. we discovered that our TV also would need to be loud to hear it at all. additionally, there was a big political stand in front of the motel for a specific presidential candidate with giant flags and signs. this was very off putting. the room was pretty bare and showed it's age, with an unappealing bathtub in the bathroom.
- Keith (7/5): Good Motel- Dying Town - No Breakfast- Little else available The whole town shuts down after Labor Day!!
- Dorota (5/5): During our travel we needed a stay for 1 night. The hotel was on our way so we booked it - Very helpful front desk lady. I liked the door between our rooms, as we travelled in group Loud train sounds at night. Dirty carpet. No light in some lamps
- Slayden (4/5): Unfortunately not many options in Soda Springs Idaho. - Cheap and location is good Old, carpets are dirty, bathroom was gross.
- Brooke (5/5): Passable -
- Jonas A (2/5): - Wifi was weak, unfriendly receptionist, dirty and some junkies around.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Clean
- Norman (8/5): Very good - I love that the prices are very reasonable. The location is right on the main road...very easy to find and right near two grocery stores. The extra bedroom attached to the main room doesn't get access to the a/c. They did provide a stand up fan, but with the door closed for privacy, it was very hot.
- Charline (6/5): A clean motel with good location -
- Greg (5/5): Passable - It slim picking in this tiny town. Old, tired Motel.
- Ray (4/5): - The AC was almost nonexistant! It could no keep up in a snow storm. Hard to stay in a room with a temp of 81 degrees. That is not what I paid for. The key did not work all the time only after working with the key. Worst motel I have ever stayed at!
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Roger (5/5): Served its purpose. Cheaper than alternatives - Close to my nephew Needs updating
- Lanna (8/5): Cute and clean blast from the past - Easy to get to and find on the highway. Adorable town.
The desk clerk was absolutely lovely, even though we rolled into town pretty darned late. The beds were comfortable, and our room had enough elbow room for multiple people wandering around doing their thing. The facilities/decor are a little dated, but oh my goodness, I think this was the cleanest motel room I've been in for years (your housekeeping staff have this on lock, keep them!). Yes, even compared to a fancy 5* hotel I stayed at recently. N/a
- Carolyn (10/5): Retro chic and pet friendly - Dog friendly with no extra fees! Clean. Retro feeling. True country motel. Drive right up to your door.
- Amber (6/5): - Everything was great besides some of it being outdated and dirty. The carpet needed to be replaced, the soap dish in the shower had orange stuff in it, and the sink needed to be scrubbed really good. The mattresses are also very uncomfortable but for what we paid it was kind of what I expected. The water pressure is amazing though!
- Daniel H. (4/5): - When we arrived, the office was locked. "out to lunch" the handmade sign read. This was after 3:00 in the afternoon. The next morning on checkout, the office was again locked. a sign said to ring the doorbell.
We had no hot water for showering, not even warm. Our neighbor spent the evening chain smoking outside our window where the AC unit was drawing in air. UGH!
Nothing we tried to watch on TV would load. Finally gave up.
Lastly, the only lounge chair in the room was long overdue for replacement; it was ratty and I would not sit in it.
- Krystal (8/5): - Overall, decent value and good sized room. Friendly staff. Not super clean but passable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and friendly - The room was clean and the staff was friendly.
- Steven (10/5): - The staff was amazing
- Krystal (6/5): - Loud clanging/banging sounds two mornings in a row around 6:30. Could be cleaner. But overall decent value.
- melody (10/5): - Great staff! Property is has a wonderful retro vibe.
- David (4/5): Disappointing -
- Damen (2/5): - My daughter woke up screaming that something was on her arm. We turned on the lights to find a dozen or more earwigs in her bed and on the wall! Totally nasty.
With only window AC units you can hear everything going on outside and a large truck backed into a spot in front of our room. He started his truck so graciously at 5am only to let it idle for 25 minutes spewing exhaust into our room. We left shortly after. Gross and nasty. Would not stay again. Maybe the Christmas tree in their lobby in July was a sign of things to expect.
- Amy (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - At checkout, could not get attendant to come to front desk despite hearing her yell at the dogs therein and repeated ringing of the bell for attention.
At check-in, there was a wait until the local parade was over to get someone available to serve us.
