Guest Reviews
- James (6/5): - Old Coach House sounded like a quaint place with a bar. They have nout, not even breakfast
- R. (4/5): The gloom room. - The arrival "greeting" was miserable. No welcome nor information was forthcoming.
No elevator available nor help offered with our luggage and we're pensioners !
The room was not cleaned nor even visited by a cleaner it appears. The tea and milk we used wasn't replaced. The towels, etc. were exactly as we left them in the morning until we got back at night.
The desk was unoccupied except when we first arrived.
The whole hotel appearance in general was a mixture of tacky and worn.
Needless to say, we won't be going back !
- Brian (6/5): - Central location but needs a refresh . No eating facilities onsite. Gravel car park difficult for manoeuvre
- John (2/5): - Very run down. Broken toilet seat leaking shower. Very poor cleanliness. No communication with staff never saw them. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it can be dirty. Won’t be back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable rest, slightly shabby premises - TLDR: Clean room, sheets and bathroom; comfortable bed; easy access to town and sea view. Fine wifi. Nice manager, owner not so helpful. Zero breakfast facilities, front desk rarely manned. Interior and exterior in significant disrepair, most of which would be easily fixed. Price was excellent and dogs allowed!
- Colin (10/5): Very accomindating - The place was very friendly the receptionist saw that my partner was disabled and gave us room one instead of room 19 so grateful for that will stay there again when attending Refuel next year if my partner is with me
- Eleanor (10/5): - This my first night and i'
- John (6/5): Old hotel. - Cycle trip, needed somewhere to stay and the price was reasonable
- James (10/5): - Great ensuite room, very clean and very quiet. The hotel is in the town centre so is very convenient for local amenities.
- rachel (8/5): - Not the most extravagant of hotels but was of a good standard. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only down side was the that there was no facilities for food. Bed could be a bit more comfy.
- Gordon (6/5): - Noisy plumbing,small
- Jess (6/5): - This hotel does not have any food although there is a toaster and somecutlery if you want to make your own. The beds are clean and also the towels but plumbing is ancient and noisy. The shower was hot. It was very cheap.
- Andrew (6/5): - On arrival i was informed no meals were available for my stay. The room was very tatty and i was concerned when a fire door was wedged open by a fire extingisher. The heatong abd plumbing was very noisey abd woke on moth nights of my stay.
- Denise (10/5): - A cute little restored old hotel. Perfect for me as a solo traveler. I felt safe, comfortable and the rate was ver affordable.
- Annette (4/5): Awful - A last minute trip,so not much choice as a Bank Holiday.
Room shabby,tv not working.water tepid and not hot enough for a bath and hairs in bath,SHOCKING !!
No food provision, and bed cheap, uncomfortable with springs that could be felt.
Gentleman that checked me in was most pleasant, and helpful.
Should have travelled further afield .
Or checked other reviews
Reason cheap and available at short notice, should have travelled firther afiel and got a Premier Inn - at least one knows what to expect.....
- James (10/5): Excellent room - Excellent ensuite room. Very clean and quiet. The hotel is located in the town centre so is very convenient for local amenities and attractions. Highly recommended.
- roland laurence (4/5): - Shower needs replacing. No staff around and no breakfast facilities.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall was very good but mattress was well worn out
- John (10/5): Hotel okay, staff exceptional - Hotel was fine, staff were excellent. Read some bad reviews prior to visit but I found the hotel to be okay especially considering price and the staff to be very friendly, polite, helpful and professional.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We were comfortable and the host was very friendly however, the toilet sounded like a they engine when flushed and got louder and higher until it was full. About 2 minutes. We could hear other toilet being flushed throughout the night that sounded the same. That was really the only downfall though so we just used earplugs! Probably okay given the price though!
- Agnes (10/5): Great - Lovely place to stay
- Agnes (10/5): Great - Lovely stay no problem
- Craig (2/5): Not the best - Hidden charges for pets bed had stains water took forever to get hot and room was freezing when we first went in
- Patrick (4/5): - When you book a hotel you expect to have hot water for a shower and there to be heating in the room but on several occasions I have stay here as booked by my company I have not been provided with the basic requirement
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for a cheap place to stay - This place is cheap and you get what you pay for. If your working there then the hotel is adequate as a cheap bed to sleep in. The Wifi didn't work, the room wasnt serviced the whole time I was there abd every floorboard creaks but it did the job for what I needed.
- Stuart (8/5): - Room was compact but clean and tidy. Toilet and shower area were the same.
- John (8/5): - Stayed in here a couple of times it is clean and handy for what I need and priced properly but the bar in hotel has now closed
- ANDREW (8/5): - Only a 1 night stay, ok room and location. No breakfast due to kitchen refurb.
- paul (8/5): - Warm Welcome warm shower Warm Bed... Clean and tidy Central location Good value for money an Friendly staff
- Tomasz (10/5): All provided for! - Everything you could expect from a stay and more! Everything was provided and very clean and comfortable, I'd highly recommend this if you're travelling on a budget. If you don't mind a bit of dated decor this place is excellent, zero complaints.
- Steve (4/5): - Booked a dog friendly room for 2 nights via hotels.com months in advance for £100 (pay at property)Unfortunately the bank card I used at reservation was lost and on check in day the payment was declined. When I went to reception to pay using my new card they added on an extra £20 for the dog staying😡 Also it says Hotel, Bar and Restaurant, but there is no Bar or Restaurant or food of any kind.
- Erica (6/5): - The room was old and not very well insulated, but heating was good, bathroom was tiny but with hot water. The hotel is well located. You get what you pay for
- Trudie (6/5): - It was fine literally an ensuiye room it's a shame we weren't informed there wasn't any food or drink on site, but you get what you pay for.
- Alexander (6/5): - Friendly welcome. But no food, had to leave with no breakfast, kitchen and restaurant closed, no explanation. Disappointing.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Felt like a bed sit, the room was filthy radiators disgusting carpets decor really poor.
- Mary (2/5): AVOID - Avoid at al cost was the worst hotel I’ve ever been to plywood screwed on to base of bed mattress like a slab cobwebs all over roof extractor fan blocked , lock on door was falling out , water pipes banging , and to finish off NO bar , NO restaurant
- Verified traveler (2/5): Wouldn't stay again - The sign above the door says a warm welcome awaits.... When we checked in we were greeted by someone on the phone who passed a key to us and that was it. No hello or anything
The room was comfortable enough but very dated, the bathroom had dead flies all over it and hand sanitizer instead of soap in the bathroom
- Christopher (8/5): erm, it was a hoot? - Hotel is being refurbished, and pricing reflected it. Staff were scares understandably, but honnest as called up about found neckless that was left.
would love to see it when finished, as long as they do somthing about the dam noisey owls (really)!
- Andrew (10/5): - Really convenient and great value.
- Lee (2/5): - Cold checked out straight away
- Samuel (10/5): - The property is okay but some floor areas needs to be fixed.
Staffs are nice and friendly
- Michelle (10/5): - Nice comfortable beds
- Tim (2/5): - This property is admittedly not expensive but really shouldn’t be operating, as it is about to be closed for a full refurbishment and this shows. Rooms have damp patches on the ceiling, bathroom barely functions, there are no facilities, etc. Buckie is absolutely fine, this hotel isn’t.
- Alison (8/5): Great stay - The Actual hotel was great and thankfully they had a room left for us at the last minute because although I'd booked it with hotels.com weeks before and it was coming up on my app that it was booked...got to the hotel and the booking hadn't actually went through...not too sure if i can trust them again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Get what you pay for! - You get what you pay for - this was the cheapest hotel in Buckie as I travelled there to attend a funeral. It was a last minute booking but the staff were very helpful. The room was tired looking but the bed was comfortable and the shower was warm. I was in the room for 11 hours so a good sleep and a warm shower was all that was needed - I wouldn't stay here for pleasure however.
- Andrew (6/5): - Basic hotel in which I have stayed many times in the summer. This was my first time during the winter, the heating system was almost non existent. Room was uncomfortably cold
- Agnes (10/5): Very Nice - It was warm comfortable and it was great was needed to stay for going to work
- Frank (2/5): Never again! - Host was friendly and helpful, but the room was Freezing, The bathroom was dirty.
- Agnes (10/5): Comfortable - Was Comfortable very nice
- Andrew (6/5): - Very Basic, no Food avialable including breakfast which was disappointing.
Provided our basic needs and was clean and tidy.
- Colin (10/5): - Great site
- Lavinia (8/5): - Hmmmm, was a bit worried after reading a couple of very recent reviews. They were pretty much damning so it was with some trepidation and the decision to check out if it was as described. I have to say, I can really see where the previous reviews came from. Yes it’s old, the room was small and restaurant was closed. In saying this, the room was clean, the water hot and the area quiet. Only negatives on the room were the lamp didn’t work and main light was dim. An odd occurrence was the TV turning on itself twice in the middle of the night! The remote was with the TV and nowhere near us so not sure what the go is there. The bathroom was clean although small. WiFi was a bit sketchy but adequate. There is a carpark off street at the side of the hotel and it is a short walk to the main area. Someone was there to check us in but no-one on checkout so we just left the key. For the price, this property is fine for a couple of nights.
- Margaret (4/5): Being renovated - Renovation work is ongoing. Room had been recently carpeted and the mattress and duvet were comfortable. Restaurant, bar, lobby, lounge etc all currently closed.
- Lady (8/5): Cheap & Cheerful with great staff - Staff is amazing. Price is outstanding! We had a nice room...no grills but a modern TV I could html my computer to. Location is perfect for our needs. Dog friendly although when we booked there wasn't a way to tell them we were bringing our dog & there is a dog charge.. will definitely book again
- Joyce (2/5): Disgusting - My stay was terrible we checked out and did not stay bedding looked used room drab with old furniture mould in the shower paper cups no toiletries lock on door dodgy with no fire door sticker no fire exit plan on back of door used by homeless people no bar and kitchen was closed worst hotel ever !!!!
- Andrew (6/5): - Ceiling cracked and in need of a paint. Toilet brush dirty. Bathroom light not working fully. Bathroom door not closing properly. No meals.
- Paul (6/5): Great location, but the bed is firm - Great location, friendly staff. The bed was uncomfortable (personal preference) and the pillows could do with replacing.
- Rhona (8/5): Very Nice but no food. - The hotel but we were relying om the hotel for food. It was clean and friendly. It was very comfy but msybe a fan would have helped.
- James (10/5): Good - People expect five star hotel for three star price.stop moaning, nothing wrong with hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The extractor fan in room really needs a good clean. You could hardly see it. This is in the toilet. Can say shower was very powerful and warm. Make sure the radiators are turned on before guest arrive as ours wasn't and it was freezing until we went into hall and it was sooo cosy, so went back and discovered the raditor was off. The gentleman was pleasant that we spoke too and so was lady on arrival. No breakfast no dinner so we had to go else where which was disappointing as advertised on website showing meals and pub aera opened. Local pub was great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Adequate.
- Alan (10/5): - Check-in (and check-out) were straight-forward, staff were enthusiastic and helpful. The hotel's location was perfect for the purposes of my one night stay.
- Raymond (6/5): - It seems there are new management/owners.
Restaurant was closed - Monday - no early breakfast.
Rooms only had paper/plastic cups for in room for drinks.
Also think the bar has closed.
Otherwise rooms unchanged from previous visits
- Irana (6/5): - Heating is on a timer so no hot water or heating in the rooms at times. Wanted a shower when we checked in (in the evening) but couldn’t.
- CLIFFORD (10/5): - This place was perfect for our trip. The staff and owner were really nice and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Will certainly use again.
- Derek (10/5): Great stay - Great location, perfect customer service, would highly recommend this hotel
- Kenneth (4/5): Very Basic Accommodation - Hotel is in need of renovations and upgrading but is generally clean and tidy. Very basic, small single room and the shower control was broken so water quickly became scalding hot with no way of adjusting temperature. Bar and restaurant was closed which was inconvenient.
- Gordon (8/5): Pleasant stay - Pleasant stay, the room was clean, bed comfortable and shower facilities also fine. The general condition of the hotel is tired but you get what you pay for it’s a good price in the centre of town. Staff are lovely.
- Steven (2/5): 50 Pounds a night more like £5.00 - Me and my partner took a little donder up to Buckie last night to get away and enjoy a wee weekend away together and go antique hunting (Cullen is perfect for this!). My partner booked the room on hotels.com and well a picture can hide a multitude of sins just The old Coach inn did. We arrived in the evening after travelling all day and were greeted by, well no-one but a number to call if no-one was around. The building was in darkness which isnt very welcoming at all. We called the number and a very rude Asian man came down the stairs and said we were late. My partner was choking for a pint so we asked if the bar was open to which he told us no it was closed.
As we checked in we asked about breakfast and told it would be £7.5 each for a continental breakfast. £7.5 for a few slices of cheese and a yogurt - I don't think so. I may be Aberdonian but that is taking the biscuit. After we checked in we went to our room where on route realized the hall lights in he main corridor to our room didn't work. Faulty Towers or what?! The room resembled a 70's basic suite with holes in the wall as well as insects. Through the night we could hear every bit of noise too. On top of the wardrobe there was an inch of dust and a dirty mask. Cleanliness doesn't exist at this Hotel. Would we stay here again? I think you already no the answer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND
- Angam (10/5): - Good overall for price
- David (6/5): Davy - It was a work stay for 10 nights. I wouldnt have stayed a second week but unfortunately i was on a work budget. The hotel was nice enough but very dated.the creaky floor boards where really bad, from entering the room it was just creak.the heating in room went from warm [not hot] to freezing. Exact same as shower. Reported it to staff who couldnt have been more helpful but was informed it was under new management and it was work in progress.i stay in hotels up and down the country. I would only rate this hotel because of the 2 girls on the front desk who where so helpful and respondent to the occupants needs. Fantastic staff probably under rated. Top staff overrated hotel.
- Lyn (8/5): - Comfortable hotel, lovely breakfast. However it is very dated but that didn't put us off. Expedia let us down by not giving the hotel our request for a two bedded room. The hotel staff managed to accommodate this at no extra expense to us. I tried to contact Expedia to complain but got only a robot. Would not book with them again.
- Rod (4/5): - Pleasant staff but a bit amateur and premises are a dated and run down. The heating in the room didn't work. I raised this with the staff who said they would look into it and later told me it was fixed. It wasn't. TV in the room had very poor reception making it unwatchable. Breakfast was a 'take or leave it' cooked breakfast which, to be fair, was tasty and well presented, but there was no offer of cereal, fruit juice etc. Coffee/tea was help yourself from the jug shared with other diners not very Covid secure!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very crammed, small room but all facilities are there incl tv & hairdryer.
Broken shower cubible door so fixed curtain used .
View from window was a roof with chimney. Very creaky floors as its an old building.
Room was clean with a very comfy bed ,tea/coffee making facility.
All the staff were friendly & helpful.
Price of £50 was for room only ,meals to be paid separately . My actual charge was £50.60 so maybe a credit card charge?
Pleasant young waitresses but got my order mixed up, items on the plate are accurate to the menu, no chips or potatoes unless stated but can be ordered separately . Lovely "Simpsons" ice-creams.
Covid measures are in place with social distancing & hand gel available.
Limited hotel parking but ok to park on the main street.
Antibacterial soap available in the toilet so remember to bring own shwer gel/shampoo etc.
- Mogz (6/5): - Room perfectly good. Ensuite was modern clean. Most rooms are first floor,. Bed had good substantial sheets. Great to get that ensuite at low price. Easy access in out.
Wifi terrible for most of the evenings, as if their system was overloaded: losing connection every few seconds to a minute. But good in mornings, one evening came good later.
Reception unstaffed when I left, nobody came to ringing, I had to just leave the key there unannounced. That's at 7:50am.
Frustrated, that they had a street sign out saying evening dining was on, the receptionist on arrival told me so too, but there was no visibility or signage where to go for it, the bar was closed so the whole ground floor beyond reception looked closed with no sign of the dining at all or of being enterable. Reception unstaffed at that time too, I did not want to risk ringing for them asking only to be told it was fully booked, wanted a visual way to see that see the menu before making my wish to dine on that first evening known. By absence of which they lost a diner.
