- Daryll (10/5): -
- Joseph (9/5): - No private bathroom
- Ani (10/5): -
- Jeffrey (10/5): Wonderful Guesthouse. I will be staying here again! - Location was close to restaurants and town. Wifi in the room where I stayed was a bit spotty, but was fine everywhere else.
- Barbara (3/5): Very annoyed at facilities not available as advertised - Its location and beautiful grounds and friendly obliging owners It was advertised as a self contained unit. Actually there was only one of those in an annexe
Other rooms were off a common living room. Users of one of those rooms had to go through that living room to use their bathroom!!!
Booking.com describes all rooms as having a kitchen . Simply not true … weren’t even allowed to use the common kitchen.
Total waste of groceries we had bought.
No TVs in rooms… tho owners did provide us with one when we complained
Lovely place but simply NOT as advertised
- Carol (8/5): Delightful to stay at Riverbend Retreat for the night, despite the inconveniences. - LThe breakfast was plentiful and excellent—just what we wanted. The location was beautiful— it was an oasis but there was a bit of highway traffic noise.
We had a lovely walk around their grove/playground-equipped property. It was difficult to use the entry code. It wasn’t efficient...we waited 15 minutes to gain access.
In the bedroom: difficult access to the closet, hard to move between the bed and the dresser that were too close together, and only ceiling, no ambient (lamp) lighting.
The beautifully furnished parlor was dark and I couldn’t find how to turn on the lights.
- Rodriguez (10/5): A peaceful place to recharge the mind, body, and soul. We truly enjoyed our stay. - What I loved most about this property was the relaxing atmosphere. The host was extremely kind and helpful and made us feel right at home. The location was perfect and the views were spectacular. It was exactly what I needed to take a break from reality and reset my body and mind.
- Annemarie (4/5): Verstehe die guten Bewertungen nicht - Tolles Gelände, sehr leckeres Frühstück Schlechter Check-in (keiner war da), sehr hellhörig, kein Fön vorhanden, schlechtes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis
- Craig (10/5): -
- Curious08912127903 (10/5): A Soulful Retreat by the River - An unforgettable stay at Riverview Retreat FL! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Chris, whose kind heart and beautiful smile instantly made us feel at home.
The property is immaculately clean and feels like a luxurious spa—not just for the body, but for the soul. Every detail, from the cozy s’mores area and hammock to the riverfront chairs and the walkway to the yacht, is designed for relaxation and beauty.
A special shoutout to the young chef, Josiah, who prepared the most delicious breakfasts and lunches. His thoughtful menus and presentation truly elevated our experience.
The best part? Waking up to a stunning sunrise right outside our room—it was pure peace and magic. We left feeling completely refreshed and can’t wait to return!

- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- King (10/5): Exceptional - The astomophere. The staff. It was very relaxing. I loved everything I do wish the pool was more clean and inviting. It had a bunch of leaves, flowers, and debri .
- Holly (8/5): It was a very peaceful place to stay with very friendly staff members. - The surrounding area is very beautiful! Our bathroom was our own, but we had to walk outside of our bedroom to access it.
- Van (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henry (10/5): Exceptional - The one of the best I ever stayed in (little haven) MO
- Bianca (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, peaceful, clean!
- James (4/5): Disappointing, but not terrible. - The property is beautiful. It was quiet in the facility. The bed was firm, which I liked. Everything was clean. It took me several hours to get connected to wifi, which eventually seemed to happen by accident. I had several communications with the owners, who were never on the property. This included being given a wrong phone number at one point, and having messages not responded to. The king size bed was too short (I am 6'2") and I had to sleep on an angle, from corner to corner. I could not figure our how to get the ceiling light to work, and there was only one bedside lamp in the room.
- moirah908 (2/5): Stay away! - Avoid giving money to this company. They are dishonest and unwilling to return deposits. I initially booked two retreat dates and was told I would receive a refund if I canceled within a two-week window, as stated in their refund policy for September 2024. I canceled one retreat in November 2024 and was fully refunded. However, when I canceled the second retreat, they are now refusing to refund me. At the time of booking, the website clearly stated a two-week cancellation policy, and staff verbally confirmed that full refunds would be given within this window. Since then, the company has changed their policy and updated the website, but they never informed me of these changes. Now, they are withholding a deposit of over $1,000. While I understand policies can change, it is the company's responsibility to notify customers of any updates, which they failed to do in my case.
- Barnett (10/5): Fantastic riverfront getaway! So quiet and beautiful! - There are not enough good things to say about this beautiful property! The views are stunning, the room was lovely, bed comfortable and the breakfast basket was fresh and delicious. We honestly can’t wait to come back!!! I don’t have any negatives about the property. Everything was amazing!
- Burke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ella (10/5): Beautiful B&B in a secluded setting - The retreat is lovely! Both the grounds and the buildings are beautiful and we felt very welcome. NA
- Singley (10/5): I’ve already recommend this place to two friends - Low price high value. This place is beautiful.
I will arrange it for my grand daughters honeymoon and I’ll be back next year We liked everything about the place. Even the rain day was nice.
- Keri (9/5): Gorgeous Property and Comfortable Beds - The property was gorgeous. It was too chilly to enjoy the amenities, but I did walk around the property and play a game of chess with my son, which we both enjoyed. The beds were very comfortable. It was nice waking up to breakfast every morning. The breakfast was nice but was the same every morning. We stayed there three nights, so some variety would be nice.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): Quiet stay, gorgeous grounds and home. - Right by the river! Great views and grounds are lovely! Spotless resident! Delicious breakfast muffins!! Nothing
- Downs (10/5): Great stay for work or play! - Fresh, healthy breakfast each day. Peaceful and relaxing indoors and outdoors.
- Beverley (10/5): Paradise on the Alifia River - The location was amazing, situated on the Alifia river. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. In addition to the dock on the river, there’s a fire pit down by the river and an enclosed pool and hot tub. We rented the two bedroom cabin, which was very spacious and had a full kitchen. A lovely breakfast was delivered every morning and other meal options are available by reservation. We would definitely stay here again when in the area. It would be nice to have extra trash bags and the tub needs nonslip strips in it.
- Jose (1/5): Not recommended - They never andwered the phone, neither at the door. I could not check in. I have been trying to reach the top manager Kris with no luck. Kris is always busy in meetings. There is nobody working actually at the hotel.
- Downs (10/5): Fabulous B&B that made work feel like vacation! - Loved everything—the property, the room, the hosts, the breakfast baskets, the meal menu, and all the extras touches!
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Potterskeith (10/5): Exceptional - The location is amazing so peaceful it really is a hidden gem. Not to mention the 2 beautiful resident bunnies. Everything was great
- Barbara (8/5): We had a restful night after having dinner and music out. Slept well and had breakfast at 8:00. We really liked having a - Beautiful and quiet area but close to lots of amenities. Hot tub wasn’t working. Had booked with have that in mind.
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional - All, and the staff are amazing
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- michellehB2551SL (10/5): Lovely personal and peace-filled experience - I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The property is lovely and extensive: there are lots of places to sit, relax, and enjoy the view/peace. The owner is delightful and welcoming. The staff is kind and effective. My bed was great as was breakfast. I appreciate their having me!
- AdamInMaine (10/5): Terrific Vacation - We stayed two nights and attended a Southern Gospel Concert in Tampa. A friendly Bed and Breakfast with good food and wonderful riverside views. Kris Heartland is a Christian host who is helpful and interested in your vacation. She is a financial expert and has written several books.
- Melanie (10/5): A great location to relax. - Somewhat private on beautiful grounds that you can explore.
- Nigel (10/5): We had a great stay and would highly recommend the Riverbend Retreat - Location was excellent, breakfast was very good. The grounds of the property were exceptional Nothing
- Jen (10/5): Book here! You won't regret it! - The whole experience was amazing! The folks there were so hospitable. We felt very welcome. Love the private concept of your space having a programmed key code so we didn't have to check in or out. Breakfast was fantastic! Warm muffins and yogurt parfaits were delicious! The grounds are breathtaking and it is hard to believe the location is so close to everything!
- Wendy (10/5): Fabulous place to stay at - Fabulous breakfast and a choice too. Everything was perfect
- Christine (10/5): Beautiful place, with all the amenities one could ask for, but with the homey feel of a BnB. - Breakfast were outstanding, view was beautiful, Room & facilities more than exceeded my expections. It’s close to where my son lives, which was my primary reason for choosing it. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again. I had slight technical difficulties getting in, but I learned. And figuring out how to turn the ceiling fan on without the light was a challenge, but I figured it out.
- Alan (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming experience from the moment we arrived. Exceeded expectations. - Loved the secluded riverside location; staff were very welcoming and facility was comfortable. Breakfast was fresh, home-made and tasteful. Coffee on the back patio was wonderful.
- Adriana (9/5): Superb - I love the view
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (9/5): Superb - There are many activities that the place has to offer. The night lighting is awesome. They do a great job making sure all is in a comfortable atmosphere. There is not much I didn't like about it.
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional - relaxing stay. quite area.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (10/5): A hidden, peace-restoring gem surrounded by a busy urbanscape! - The owners and staff continuously assured our well-being and satisfaction during our three-day stay. The retreat facility was well maintained and provided a wonderful, peaceful ambiance within a busy, semi-urban environment. The lush grounds provided a serenity and break from busy traffic and noise just minutes away by car. The building itself is insulated from external noises until we opened the windows to let in the cool night air and the sounds of birds and critters. The walking trails were carefully groomed, and the multi-acre grounds were thoughtfully cleared to showcase the river shore and the many mature trees surrounding the building. Our room was one of three in a wing that had its own lounge area that opened up onto a large gathering room with a grand, stone fireplace where guests were invited to meet. Unfortunately, we did not reserve three to five nights of stay instead of the two! With the intense spring break traffic discouraging distance travel around Tampa and beyond, we were delighted to spend a full day at the Revierbend Retreat walking, reading, and conversing with one another, the owners, and staff. It was a refreshing way of finishing a two-week visit with friends and a trip to the Keys, relaxing and restoring.
- Bridget (9/5): Overall wonderful stay at a great hidden gem! - I liked that it was very secluded and exactly in the location I wanted to be in to visit my friend. The only thing is not a sleight on the property itself but since some of the rooms are close and it is a house and not a hotel, I was concerned about the noise level of conversations late at night since my friend came to visit a bit while I was staying there and can be very animated.
- Margaret (10/5): So much nicer than we expected, beautiful area, quiet, just a lovely place to stay. - Beautiful, nicer than any hotel. We were very comfortable, and intend to stay again if we can. Thank you!
- Bedard (10/5): 100 % satisfied - All nothing
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): Just lovely - Gorgeous natural setting on the river Wish I knew about asking for the hot tub turned on ahead of time!
- Cajunmojo (10/5): Super B&B near Tampa. - Great location. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good. The host came across as less than friendly.
- Dizmang (10/5): It was beautiful and peaceful we loved the stay and the bunnies. - It was quiet and out of the way.
- KringleHansen (10/5): Relaxed, calm and enjoyable - On this five acre property we felt as if we were on a private Island 🏝️ on the banks of Alafia river. Beautiful majestic oak trees and landscapes. It was a fabulous relaxing four day stay. My family had an wonderful time. Kudos to the staff in particular Alina for taking great care of us.
- Fox (10/5): Exceptional - It fit our needs and the property was immaculate. It rained our stay. Not their fault of course
- Vanessa (10/5): Going back for my wedding in the future and just to vacation. - It was very welcoming warm greetings. I didn't have enough time to enjoy it.
- 178karenk (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Five stars all the way! We cannot say enough about this beautiful resort. So peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast is delivered each morning to our door. Warm, homemade muffins, orange juice, yogurt parfait, boiled egg and fruits. Everything was perfect, will do our best to come back one day!
- James (8/5): I would return to this charming, well-kept inn. The he buildings and grounds evoke an old-Florida feel, 20 minutes from - Great location near Tampa. Beautifully maintained home and well manicured grounds along the banks of a classic Florida river. Delicious continental breakfast. Some distant traffic sounds from the interstate. It wasn’t overwhelming but it was always in the background
- Dan (10/5): Very friendly staff and comfortable room. Would definitely stay again. - The breakfast basket was great! each morning we took the basket with us to the waterfront seating and enjoyed the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Nice and relaxing start to the day.
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaesung (10/5): Relaxing in the sunshine and American home comforts - This is definitely a place I would stay again if I were to visit the Tampa area. It's a bed and breakfast with a river running along the gardens and kayaks available. The beds, showers, and even the chocolates and coffee in the living room were luxurious and indicative of the quality of the owner, Chris. Be sure to try the breakfast that Chris prepares, especially if you stay here. It was the best home-cooked breakfast I've ever tasted in the United States. Due to the nature of the bed and breakfast, one had to share the living room and bathroom with other guests, but this time we had the place to ourselves as there were no other guests. It was great to get a feel for the atmosphere of a middle-class American home, especially as we had several conversations with Chris and his husband. We had a great time staying here, enjoying the beautiful nature of the house, the pool, and the ping pong table by the pool and the rocking chairs in the garden. I always think of the breaking sun in the garden. It would have been perfect if the pool had a Jacuzzi and hot water. The center of the pool is a bit on the deep side.
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (9/5): Superb - We had an enjoyable time! There was a little confusion when got in.
It was about 8pm and no one was there.
We were able to use our code to get in but did not understand by the email received which room we were staying in.
- Olivia (6/5): Pleasant - The property was beautiful, an ideal place if you want to relax for a few days. Through the house there were various bibles and biblical quotes on the walls. The hosts also held Bible study in their living room one night. This did not necessarily bother us but it is something to bare in mind!
We accidentally broke a glass and were billed $26 dollars as it was crystal! There were no other glasses available in the cupboards and we were celebrating our engagement.
- Celeste (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isadora (10/5): What a hidden gem! - Everything was perfect. Kris and her staff are amazing and I couldn’t thank them enough for making my family feel at home. It was supposed to be a quick trip with low expectations but we left the property wanting to come back soon. Nothing here
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Everything..!! Nothing!!
- Tamara (10/5): Perfection and peace just outside busy Tampa - A lot of special touches and a really beautiful property that shows pride of ownership. We had a delicious breakfast that was cheerfully served in a formal dining area. It really topped off a great stay. Pool was refreshing and stocked with towels. Wish we could have stayed longer.
- Rogelio (10/5): Best place (resort) to stay in Tampa! - Amazing facilities and even better service. The owners live there and always make sure you have everything you need. Kayaks, outdoor games, a beautiful pool, firepit, and more. The breakfast was an added bonus. Can't imagine staying anywhere else when in Tampa. A big thanks to Rose for always checking on us - she's awesome! Thank you! Nothing...we liked everything!
- Melton (10/5): Exceptional -
- HoolioJerome (10/5): Would stay again in a heartbeat! - We came across the Riverbend Retreat while searching for places to stay in the Tampa Area, more specifically Riverview. We booked a room and hoped for the best. We couldn’t be more satisfied with our decision.
The area is absolutely stunning. The home was beautiful. The Inn Keepers were friendly and responsive to our questions. We stayed in the Rejuvenate Room. It was very comfortable and our private bathroom was right next door to our bedroom. I believe the other rooms had a private bathroom inside each room.
There are two shared living rooms that were large and welcoming. Outside the home, there was no shortage of relaxing places to sit and unwind…porch swing, loungers, Adirondack chairs, loungers, and hammocks. The best part was the view. You can sit at the fire pit right by the river or alongside the nature preserve. Kayaks are available to paddle along the Alafia River. There’s an enclosed outdoor pool on the property to relax in. There is plenty of shade with all the beautiful trees and foliage.
The continental-style breakfast and coffee and tea selection for the Keurig was delightful. We enjoyed breakfast outside along the river. For entertainment, they had several board games, a piano, guitars, arcade game, ping pong table, and many other amenities.
We had weekend plans in the Riverview area this trip but we would go back again just to stay and relax at the Riverbend Retreat.
- DoctorMango (10/5): Remarkable RiverBend Retreat - The location is ideal with stunning views along the river. The facility, rooms and grounds are outstanding, with plenty of options for whatever one wants to do.
The hosts are 2 of the most pleasant, polite folks that I have encountered in over 60 years of traveling.
This is “Tranquility Base” in Florida! ; And much easier to get to. I had to invite myself back without being asked,….for the 3rd time.
- Noel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): I will return. it was perfect - so peaceful and filled with Gods presence!! nothing
- Donald (8/5): Very good -
- T7149KEpaulk (10/5): A little piece of heaven. - Such a beautiful place. Our stay was wonderful. Kris and Rose were attentive to our every need. the riverfront views and hideaways were so peaceful. The gluten free food was yummy. I hightly recommend Riverbend Retreat.
- Jodi (10/5): Exceptional - They serve you a cute basket full of fresh fruit and baked muffins. Grounds are amazing.
- Madison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lawrence (2/5): Never again - Clean and met our needs. Breakfast was a basket at your door not in a dinning area with a hot meal. Very impersonally.
No interaction with the owner, they have house keeping doing everything. Didn't clean up room anytime for the hole week. Beds and pillows were extremely hard. We reserved a room with a king bed, but had two twins. Many other things were not right.
- Jacquelyn (10/5): Delightfull retreat. Excellent hosts. - Lovely grounds along river. Very accommodating and personable hosts. Very clean. Spacious. Quiet. Easy to find location.
- Jelena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacquelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eduardo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was fresh and very tasty. The location was great, just off the highway and close to lots of restaurants and stores.
- Karen (9/5): Beautiful place relaxing atmosphere - Breakfast basket was great. Loved all the amenities Pillows
- Greg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giuliano (9/5): get ready to be surprised - the location is amazing…. it is in the middle of a small litte forest next to the river! perfect for our fl roundtrip it‘s hard to tell when you arrive which of the buildings you rented when you are standing in front of the property…
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb - Everything All was good
- AdamInMaine (10/5): Terrific Vacation - We had a great time, short but nice. So much to do on the property. Enjoy the fire pit by the river, lay on a hammock, play a little putt-putt golf or sit on a Adirondack chair and gaze out on the river. Next time we will spend extra days to enjoy Riverbend Retreat more. Outstanding breakfast and the topper for our short vacation. Also looking forward to the upcoming activities (Wellness Weekends, Family Camp, Faith Renewal and Couples Retreat) that were cancelled due to COVID. Thank you Bob and Kris.
- heathermci (10/5): A quiet location and relaxing stay - I think what made this B&B (or technically retreat) special, was the peaceful and quiet location it is located in. The grounds and area were definitely beautiful and overlook the water. I wish we had spent longer and could have swam in the pool (which looked very inviting) and gone kayaking. We stayed two nights in the Rejuvenate room. The only comment my husband had was that the bed in our room, was comprised of two separate beds with a middle part that connected the two, and that he kept rolling onto this middle area, which was not as comfortable for him. My side of the bed, was just a bit higher, and thus, I was comfortable. The bathroom and shower area were clean, basic, and met our needs. The breakfast was also basic – perhaps as we were there during this pandemic (?) - and included more of a conventional breakfast of a hard-boiled egg, coffee, yogurt, muffins and cereal. There was also a family room area outside our bedroom, which would be great if travelling with friends or family.
The B&B is located about 30 min from the Tampa airport, and it was nice to get away from the city itself when visiting the area. Kris and her husband were welcoming. Kris was responsive to questions we had, and welcomed us into their home. Overall, we had a lovely stay and highly recommend a stay at the retreat/B&B if visiting the Tampa area.
- NancyH676 (10/5): A Truly Peaceful Place - A beautiful location along with many amenities. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Your hosts are lovely people. A great place to go to get away from it all. Just a few blocks in away from all the crazy traffic. Lots of nature and relaxing scenery.
- 913kirkl (10/5): Truly an oasis - We stayed there for three nights for a family weekend in the Brandon, Florida area. What a peaceful, private and pleasant environment! The grounds are spacious and attractively landscaped. The view of the water is a highlight, as is The outdoor seating and other amenities. Our morning breakfast and coffee was very good and made to order. The entire staff is welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely return.
- totoru984 (10/5): Destress and rejuvenate - Stayed at the Riverbend Retreat as part of a vacation package. Situated in a private and quiet street yet very close to amenities (gas station, pharmacy, restaurants etc). The surrounding property backs onto a river with a dock and numerous mature trees offering a very peaceful environment for those seeking a break from the city.
- kimlM1990VL (10/5): Retirement Party weekend Family and Friends - This is one of the best kept secrets in the Tampa Bay Area
The accommodations are outstanding and have a definite “Wow” factor, the place is beautiful and up to date
There is so much to see and do , or just relax in the quiet and peaceful outdoors
Hosts Kris and Bob are warm , friendly and very thoughtful
I was amazed, they have thought of everything
Thank you for a fun time
- michaelm458 (10/5): A Quick Birthday Getaway - I have lived in the area for over 50 years and never realized there is such a hidden gem in my own backyard. I stumbled across this place while looking for something different to do for my wife's birthday. The place is drop dead gorgeous and it is perfect for a quick getaway or if you own a boat even longer. The property is right on the river and the grounds and home are immaculate. The pool area and fire pit were a nice added touch. Kris, the innkeeper leaves nothing to chance and Marissa the caretaker is amazing. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or just a change of scenery this is it.
